Rate this book
The second Bleach Box Set. This set features volumes 22~48 at a substantial savings over buying them individually, along with an exclusive mini-comic containing the pilot story of the series and a full-color, double-sided poster.

After finally rescuing their friend Rukia, Ichigo and friends return to their quiet lives in the world of the living. However, the peace is short-lived as new enemies arrive from the world of the Hollows. Aizen is back, and Ichigo may be the only one who can stop him for good!

The second arc in the manga, and one where the cracks that were already visible in the first one are beginning to fully show themselves. An abundance of filler characters, or characters with little distinction that are trying to create artificial drama which doesn't really exist, the full definition of fodder. Even beyond that, more and more new characters are introduced, with little time to get to know them, to learn about them, to be fascinated, scared or excited about them.

The plot itself is becoming more and more contrived, with a lot of plot-points feeling like retcons, backwards justifications, or deception. The inherent problem with lies is that if you overdo it, readers will become less and less invested. If someone is capable of undoing sensible cannon, to the point it stops making sense, immersion is utterly and completely broken. I didn't get quite there, but I was close. The big reveal of how Aizen had engineered Ichigo's entire journey and growth also feels rather cheap, though I suppose this 'covers' a lot of other plot holes.

I have a weakness for box sets.

This is a review for the boxed set, and not the content of the books.

Like Box 1, this box also includes two bonus contents. It comes with a small double-sided poster and a short story/novella. I was slightly disappointed at first that the double-sided poster was exactly the same as the one provided in Box 1... but then I realized that I liked both sides of the poster and now that I have two of them, I can display both sides up on my wall!

Also, I initially thought it was weird that this box is shaped differently from Box 1, but then I opened the box and TA-DAH! IT COMES WITH A POSTER ON THE INTERIOR FLAP OF THE BOX!

These boxes are just so beautiful! 😍

Here’s a picture of all three boxed sets (the complete series) all together:
