A trip to the dentist has never been so… interesting.

Aiden Cooper, a workaholic banker with little time for a personal life let alone romance, finds himself in a bit of a pickle when his wisdom tooth starts giving him trouble. Upon visiting a new dentist, he ends up getting quite a bit more than he bargained for.

Sebastian Gibbs is a man who makes no apology for who he is or what he wants. The moment a new patient walks through the door of his dental surgery, he wonders if, for the first time in his life, he can have it all.

L. J. HARRIS is a mother, wife, an introvert and author. Her family is her life, her soul, and the very reason she gets out of bed every day. Coming a close second is her writing.

She discovered a passion for putting pen to paper in her later years, jotting down poems in birthday cards for family members.

It was then a spark was lit, and ever since, she's been unable to switch off the urge to share her stories.

L.J. Harris discovered that as much as experiencing pain, loss and betrayal can be devastating, capturing the feelings of anguish and loss that some of her characters have had to endure without firsthand knowledge would have proved difficult.

L.J. has been previously published and has shared several online stories and looks forward to continuing to share her work.

This is a sweet little story. It was a little slow to get going, with a few too many boring details about Aiden's life. But I liked seeing him and Sebastian interact once things got going. And the sex was certainly hot with a little unexpected role reversal. I didn't love everything, I'm not a fan of when a character is constantly "gasping" and dropping things and weak kneed simply from looking at an attractive person, and no one should be pressured into getting a tattoo . But overall a good short story.

Received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review as part of the Bollocks! anthology, reviewed for Hearts On Fire

A sexy dentist speaking Portuguese? Just say YES! In this short story, we get the first person point of view of Mr. Aidan Cooper, a regular English gent who has a wicked toothache. Besides being fairly terrified of needles and not a fan of the dentist, Aidan’s inner voice is adorable, just have to say that. It is this tooth problem, damn wisdom teeth!, that bring Aidan to the office of the aforementioned sexy dentist, Sebastian Gibbs. Knees buckling and “flailing around like an absolute berk” is pretty much how Aidan handles their meeting.

He survives the initial appointment but has to return to get his teeth fixed. And lo and behold, nitrous oxide anesthesia is a truth serum for Aidan, allowing him to spill out his thoughts of attraction. Again, adorable!

I liked this story immensely. Sebastian and his “meu querido”, just sexy, sweet and funny. And romantic. Never thought I’d say this about a dentist, but we could use more!

What happens when a Dentist meets a workaholic Banker who has a phobia of Dentists? They fall in love of course!

This shortish story has been extended from when it was in an anthology, it has this unmissable great epilogue as well. The characters are fun, sweet and have great chemistry, I loved the Portuguese thrown in by Deb and how much this never fails in turning Adrian on.
This is a fabulous quick read that hits all the re-read buttons for me.

Original Blog Post: Happy Happy Release Day Blitz, eARC Review + Excerpt: Just Like Pulling Teeth by L.J Harris

My Rating: 4 of 4 Stars
(Based on Short&Light Read Category)

Have you ever read something where you winced, cringed and just plain got tingly all over, but not in a good way ~ then found yourself laughing out in amusement at said remembered pain? Well, Just Like Pulling Teeth did all those to me and so much more!

So imagine yourself suffering from impacted wisdom teeth and you know, deep down, they need to be pulled. When you walk into the clinic, you are in pain, then made to answer questions and every word that comes out equates to sharp, searing pain that even the tips of your hair is painful. As you sit waiting alone, you fear, you imagine the worst, when in comes the most gorgeous piece of male specimen standing there, and he is your dentist. What can you do? How do you react?

This is exactly what LJ Harris puts her readers through and it is not good. But it is the BEST! Holy cow ~ that laughing gas scene made me almost choke on my coffee I laughed so bad it hurt. So, please, do expect the worst and the best read you've come across. It's short, its hilarious, its gorgeously sexy and it's an M/M romance. The best breakfast EVER!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Aiden, a workaholic banker and Sebastian, a dentist. Aiden is suffering with his wisdom teeth and he goes to the dentist, where he meets Sebastian. Aiden is instantly attracted to Sebastian, but he is also flustered by him. When Sebastian arranges to operate on Aiden to remove his wisdom teeth, Aiden is nervous. Aiden's sister is a tattoo artist and she asks Aiden to come to her shop, where he sees Sebastian. They flirt with each other and Aiden is now wondering where Sebastian has a tattoo. When Aiden goes to have his teeth taken out, he is given laughing gas and reveals how he feels about Sebastian. I really liked this story. I laughed at Aiden and his thoughts. I loved how Aiden and his sister got along and i think he and Sebastian made a great couple. This was the first book i read by this author, but i will be looking for more.

Just Like Pulling Teeth by L.J. Harris is a short contemporary m/m story about a dentist and patient. Aiden is a banker with an over-zealous work ethic who has no time for romantic entanglements, but intense tooth pain leads him into the path of sexy and determined dentist Sebastian. And what happens next is a sweet romance filled with humor, adorable moments and steam. Omg! That Bonus Chapter! I really liked this story and all the characters. Fun read with little drama!

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This sweet turned steamy romance between a dentist and his patient was entertaining but had no depth. It seems a fantasy scenario brought to life with a sizzling ending in a bonus chapter that comprises a third of the total story. These are not characters that I will remember long-term, but it's a short, happy story.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.

After reading this authors amazing story His Personnel Assistant I decide to try some more, so I grabbed a couple of her sorter stories first, to see how she held up. A cute novella set around going to the dentist, ugh. Aiden has his hangs ups and fears so he has an especially hard time but the pain grew too much for him. But in the end going to the dentist opened up a whole world and brightened his lonely and, lets be honest, slightly stodgy life. A truly sweet tale and over too quickly. It was kinda nice to read my old home country Brit talk, I miss that at times.

Aiden's predicament shouldn't of made me laugh as much as I did but it was hard not to, because he has an amazingly funny way to describe his teeth aches and going to the dentist's office. It's hilarious to watch Aiden become a swooning mess and tongue tied around Seb.
Just Like Pulling Teeth is an entertaining shot story, with cute characters and a hot burning romance.
Grab it if you need a quick read. It's guaranteed to put a smile on your faces.

This was an interesting story of how someone can actually hit on their dentist and make a romantic connection. Going in in pain but then meeting the gorgeous dentist and having the rest of the world melt away. The story was cute and provided enough story line to not be only instalove. But the Bonus chapter... HOT!!! That added a lot more to the story and is a must read for this book!

Just okay. Honestly, I didn't see what Sebastian saw in Aiden but since Aiden was the narrator we may have missed a bit. All we got was him sighing over Seb and embarrassing himself while on nitrous. Who knows what Seb got from it?

This book was such a sweet fun read! Was hoping it would be longer but I love the chance the two MCs took on a relationship together and that it worked for them in the end! I loved the story and highly recommend to those who want a short sweet read!

This short, sweet and steamy story was the perfect pick me up on a rainy day. There are some seriously adorable moments along the way.

No dental professionals were consulted in the writing of this book. Obviously.

This dentist is terrible at extracting teeth, and his nurse is even worse. There is so much wrong with the dentistry in this book it’s not funny. Aiden would be suing him, not dating him.

I've had the privilege of following Ms. Harris' writing career for a few years now. Every time I've opened a new story from her, it's been like slipping on a favorite sweater and getting cozy in front of a roaring fire with a new adventure awaiting me between the pages. Just Like Pulling Teeth was no different. Her classy style of writing is a perfect balance of detail and 'left to the imagination' so the reader gets effortlessly pulled into the story, and is happy to stay there until it's over.

Through Ms. Harris' words, you feel Aiden's pain as impacted, and infected, wisdom teeth force him to find a dentist. Not realizing he's being set up by his sister, he sets an appointment with Dr. Sebastian Gibbs at her recommendation. Turns out the good-looking Brazilian doctor is single, and gay, making him a potential candidate for Aiden's affections. What progresses is a slow dance of taking care of business before pleasure. The two men become friends, then eventually more, while the weeks of dental treatment go by.

Harris does a brilliant job of combining humor, low drama, and love into this delightful afternoon read. It might be titled Just Like Pulling Teeth, however reading it is anything but!

What a great bonus chapter!

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I found I really liked Aiden and Sebastian. A few times the two men had me laughing out loud.

The main story itself was sweet, funny, and entertaining, but the bonus chapter was really sexy!

Since this is told from Aiden’s POV it was hard for me to see what Sebastian liked about Aiden during the main part of the story. Later all is revealed in the bonus chapter, but it would have been nice to know while the two were dating and getting to know each other.

That aside, I enjoyed this short story. It kept me captivated throughout as I wanted to know what would happen between the two men.

Well this one was a miss for me. Initially it was a bit slow. I liked the initial meeting and once the couple got together. I felt tattoos and declarations of love happened too quickly but it probably was because in 54 pages time lapsed quickly. Basically there was no real tension or conquest. They met, they went on one date, fucked and were a couple with future plans.

A delightful read

As a new to me author, I found this novella to be a quirky and fun read. The story was engaging with some interesting characters in more interesting situations. I had a good chuckle with some scenes and the conversations between characters were varied and enjoyable.

Sigh worthy.

If you want to read a book that'll leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, this is for you. Lovely story about two guys who meet and fall in love. Simple as that. Delightful, romantic and sweet. Well written, I loved both Aiden and Seb, plus the supporting characters. Totally charming story, with a sigh worthy ending. Recommended.

I enjoyed this story and just wished we got to see more of their relationship building instead of jumping from when they first date to them being together seriously. I hated how unsure Aiden was of himself even into the bonus chapter but loved that Seb knew just how to help him.

I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.

A good, quick & hot read. Aiden and Seb meet when Aiden's sister sends him to see Sebastian as a patient. They are instantly attracted to each other but it takes them a while to do anything about it. The best part for me was Aiden's confession while under the influence of the laughing gas! Not to mention how HOT the bonus epilogue is! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
