Beatrice is dead, her soul shattered by Battler at her own request. Though her body sits across the chessboard, she is no more than a husk of the laughing, impulsive witch she once was. Lambdadelta is more than happy to preside over the fifth game, and Bernkastel willingly steps in for Battler as he takes his leave to collect his thoughts. But two witches can cause all manner of mischief when left to their own devices, especially when they care as little for rules as Lambdadelta...
Ryukishi07 (竜騎士07, Ryūkishi Zero Nana?, born November 19, 1973) is the pen name of a Japanese man originally from Chiba Prefecture who is well-known as the original creator for the idea of the visual novel series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. He is the representative member of the group 07th Expansion. His pen name originated from the Final Fantasy series, "Ryūkishi" being the Japanese term for "Dragoon", and "07" goroawase for the name "Lenna". His illustration style is recognizable from the large hands he draws on people.
I think that the more I read, the more I have a “WTF is going on?” face but welp. We’re starting a new episode, only this time Beatrice is no longer an active participant, nor Battler. The ones playing are Bern and her friend.
In this game, Beato is suffering the consequences of playing against Battler in the last game, so she’s been like a doll, unable to talk or act for herself –she seems like a tool. I can only say that I liked the art style better but as far as the plot goes, I’m a bit confused and I don’t really understand where this is going. This Episode was supposed to give us answers but right now it just feels like one big mess.

Más allá de las implicaciones generales este juego es bastante caótico. Creo que me ha gustado aunque es un poco complicado ponerle palabras a mis sentimientos al respecto.
A very good kick-off to the fifth arc. This arc has a sharp change in tone from the preceding ones, as the unsolvable real-world tragedy that many of these characters are trapped under begins to come to light. This arc has dual focuses. The first is on the relationship of Battler and Beatrice as Battler continues to try to understand why on earth she was committing these epitaph murders in the first place. However, he has a major problem now, as Beato now cannot so much as reply any answer to his questions, even just a confusing taunt. The other focus is the relationship of Natsuhi and the sinister man from 19 years ago. Overall, the artwork has a very nice shift this volume to the more real-world tone that the fifth arc takes in comparison to the fourth. There is a heavier use of shading on characters' facial expressions, in particular, and less reliance on trolling faces (though you still get a decent amount of those from Bern and Lambda). The storytelling grabs you when it really needs to, but it doesn't have the same whimsy that I loved in the third and fourth arcs. Still, it is doing what it is necessary for this arc to do, and I think it's wrong to penalize it heavily for that.

✨Writing a grouped review for the entirety of the manga and copy/pasting. I started reading this 6 months ago at the time of writing and read over a few months and don't remember specifics about every single volume except what I rated them ✨
Umineko has an intriguing premise and good execution which does a lot right. The author manages to create such eerie and scary atmospheres and have the reader on edge wondering what is going to happen next. I particularly enjoyed a lot of the locked room scenarios and discussions and explanations.
Where this manga fails is it's extreme repetitiveness. It wears down on the reader very quickly. As a result I'm not sure this is a manga I would recommend to many people.
I will eventually watch the anime, whilst a short run this may be something I'd be inclined to recommend more as the premise itself is well done.
