I left the big city I loved. Tomorrow, I start work as the only cardiothoracic surgeon at a small regional hospital. My kids are off with my ex-husband and his new man, and tonight, I'm free, alone, and determined to make the best of it. If Gideon the jerk can find new love, surely I can at least find someone hot to take to bed.
A local gay club seems like the place to start. My evening's looking up when I’m approached by an attractive younger man with a killer smile and sexy body, He suggests somewhere private, and I'm all in. But come morning, things have gone horribly wrong. Suddenly, I’m trying to get the guy's number and thinking this might be the worst mistake of my life.
Leo’s Lust is a 6k gay romance short story with a sexy surgeon, a sassy bottom, and a one-night stand that takes an interesting turn.
Gabbi lives in beautiful British Columbia where her fur baby chin-poo keeps her safe from the nasty neighborhood squirrels. Working for the government by day, she spends her early mornings writing contemporary, gay, sweet, and dark erotic BDSM romances. While she firmly believes in happy endings, she also believes in making her characters suffer before finding their true love. She also writes m/f romances as Gabbi Black.
A few months ago, I was honored to read my first book by Gabbi Grey and haven't looked back. She is a gifted writer/author. When I go searching to see if there are any new books by an author, that shows how much I enjoy their books/stories. This one wasn't any different. Leo is the cardiothoracic surgeon who has some free time since his kids are with his ex. This doesn't happen often, as we know with life. Leo is ready to find some fun in a nearby gay club. Boy, was that a great choice for him when he met a man with the biggest smile that, on top of that, is good-looking. Quinton can't believe his eyes when he sees Leo, whom we got our first look at in the book before this one. Where this goes next is steamy. I couldn't put it down until I knew how it was going to end. Gabbi knows how to write a well-written story, even with shorter stories. All I know is I need more, so I can't wait for the next book.
A man moving on from his divorce, his ex husband already has someone new. He struggles a little, with guilt and regret but he finally enters a gay bar, its time to move on. What I didn't realize when I started this is that it's more or less an intro to a full story, I was a little miffed but eager to read more, only to find out it's not released until Christmas, it's on my list.
This short story was a set up to the couple's full story in Quinton's Quest. Things move very quickly between Leo and Quinton. It was entirely from Leo's POV. We get a good sense of who these two characters are (and Leo is the ex-husband of Gideon from a previous book). But I found Leo a bit strange- and at times very off-putting. I liked Leo's vulnerability when he was unsure in some of the intimate scenes after having only ever been with one man. I hated the way he disassociated from the moment to think of his ex or kids. 1- it felt like he still wanted his ex. I doubt that was the author's intention, but why else would it pop up so much? And 2- it felt very awkward and rude in the middle of sexual scenes, and took all the steam out of it. For example-
Leo joined Quinton in the shower and the man held out the hotel shampoo to him. Instead of responding, Leo thought that he'd only traveled for work, and that he and Gideon hadn't had extra money for hotels, especially with the kids' needs. Quinton had to ask if he was okay, then offered to wash Leo's hair. Quinton then offered him a b-job and instead of answering, somehow Leo began thinking if he raised his rids right. What?! Quinton had to wave a hand in front of his face and repeat the offer, which Leo accepted. I honestly don't know why he bothered; I would have been upset and left if a guy treated me that way in the shower. Because it felt like he completely didn't care.
For all Leo's immediate trust of- and wanting more with- Quinton (as expressed to us in his internal thoughts), he didn't show much attention in their time together. Then he goes and says something stupid after getting his number- also again stopping to text Gideon and look at a picture of their kids- before Quinton had to get his attention again and Leo realized he was angry at him.
I don't understand how this disaster of a one night stand is the setup of a romance, but their next book will be a pass from me. I disliked Leo too much to want to read another book about him. 2 stars.
Leo has moved to Mission City. He will be starting his job as the only cardiothoracic surgeon at a small hospital, Abbotsford General. He left a top-rated trauma hospital to move here. He shares custody with his ex-husband, Gideon, and their two adopted children, Melodie and Trevor, who are with Gideon and his new partner Archer. He lives a couple of streets over from Gideon so they don't waste lots of driving time moving the kids back and forth. But tonight Leo is alone and decides to go out and find someone for himself at a local club. He had never done this before, so it was a bit unsettling. A server came right over and engaged in friendly conversation with him, introduced himself as Marc and seemed interested in Leo. But the guy was 10 years younger and Leo at 33 wasn't interested. Then another guy walked toward Leo's table and introduced himself as Quinton. Marc arrived with Quinton's drink, apparently a regular. But to Leo's surprise, it was only iced tea since the guy was working the next day. Then they agreed to go to a local hotel. Everything seemed perfect until they were heading out to work. Something Leo said highly offended Quinton who hurriedly dressed and told him not to bother calling him. A moment later, he was gone. Will they meet up again? Will Leo be able to find him again to apologize? Or has he once again hurt someone he cared about?
It is for me always hard to rate a short that is a set up for book that will come along after this one. It was needed to set up the dynamic/ tone for Leo and Quinton their story, that is book 6 in 'The Love in Mission City' series.
Leo starts with a mark by his name, for me, due to his behaviour towards Gideon when they had rhe divorce and subsequent custody arrangement.Well the first arrangement.
He in this short and described in 'Gideon's Gratitude' comes across as 'self centered', which might work in his profession , but not irl.
After his one nighter with Quinton, he puts his foot in his mouth once more. He seems pre occuoied to start his new job as well. Let's hope that explains his grievance towards nurses. Which Quinten I believe is.
I do look forward if Quinton lets Leo redeem himself. I am also looking forward to learn more about Quinton and if he can teach Leo better manners and using filters before he speaks. ;-) And also I am curious to find out more about Leo over what we know through Gideon telling us.
Narration by Michael Dean
The characters are introduced and I feel I will enjoy their book seeing as how the set up is done and colouring is given to both men. Onwards to book 6.
I was kindly given a code by Gabbi Grey, the author. The thoughts about this short audiobook are mine and mine alone.⁹
If you've read Gideons book than you will know his ex husband Leo. I actually would have preferred to have read this book first because Leo was such a badly portrayed chatacter in Gideons book that it really had me not liking him going into this book.
Just like Rayne Check was a prequel to Raynes Return and Archers Awakening was a prequel to Gideons Gratitude, this book is a prequel to this couples coming story.
This is super short and full of steam. An anonymous hookup at a gay bar that ends badly by Leos not so charming personality. Despite Leo not doing anything in this to redeem himself, I loved Quintin and am still really intrigued to read his book and see how Leo will ever grovel his way back into Quintins good graces. Especially cause they were hot together when they weren't fighting.
I love this little community the author has portrayed and we are also introduced to a side character, a bartender named Mark and I am very interested in his story.
MD did an amazing narration as always. His voice is a pleasure to listen to. Like always he kept a great pace, expressed all the emotions wonderfully, gave all the characters including the side characters their own distinct voice that suited each of them perfectly and he brought the story to life.
When I listened to the story of Leo on the audiobook, it made me have a different perspective on him. I did not know how I was going to feel about him after viewing him through the eyes of Gideon in his Gratitude, but this book made the difference. It was also the narration that actually showed the vulnerability of Leo and revealed that this is a person who is trying to figure out how to go on despite the workaholic facade.
His worrying over being with a person new was so authentic, as far as it was the only experience with Gideon. The hotel scene when Quin appeared was both tense and tender, and the fact that neither of the two characters was drinking made the moment even more surprisingly sincere. I loved how the twist of Quin was brought and how the teller brought about the revelation.
The narrative seemed to be a glimpse into the healing process of Leo, and though it ends in an open way, it left me eager to know what his mission takes him. Besides, the fact that Leo thinks about Gideon and the children was like meeting old friends. It was an excellent introduction to what appears to be a larger emotional narrative, and I am certainly not tired of this audiobook.
This story is about Leo, Gideon's ex-husband from Gideon's Gratitude, and we get to see inside his head and discover he's not quite as bad as he might have come across in Gideon's story. Perhaps because we've seen what he's gone through and that he is a good man deep down, perhaps just the slightest bit of a workaholic. In this story, Leo goes out to try and hook up with a man. He's never actually been with anyone other than Gideon, so he's a little nervous. He meets a good looking guy, and they go to a hotel room together. It's interesting to note that neither man was drinking - in Leo's case because he was starting work tomorrow, and we don't ever quite find out why Quin was drinking iced tea, well, not until the twist at the end of the story.
It's left quite open ended, has some lovely spice and sets up the longer story that is coming out soon very well. I'm definitely glad to have found out more about Leo and that Gideon and the kids are doing well.
It was also nice to see Leo's nervousness and insecurity about being with someone new.

Gabbi Grey's Leo's Lust is a short, quickie encounter between Leo (Gideon's evil ex from Gideon's Gratitude) and Quinton, from the next book coming up in Grey's Love in Mission City series called Quinton's Quest.
Grey's Love in Mission City series can pretty much be read in any order as the characters don't overlap to often.
As I mentioned, Leo comes off as the bad guy in Gideon's Gratitude, so it is nice to see him working through his issues in this short story. I'm definitely looking forward to Quinton's Quest.
The audio version of Leo's Lust is nicely performed by Michael Dean.
an audiobook copy of Leo's Lust was provided for the purpose of my honest review, all opinions are my own
A Love In Mission City short which provides some very insightful and contextual background for those who have already started the series. For those who haven't it will stand you in good stead but you may have to be patient as you wait to learn who the characters in question are.
After a divorce and a joint custody arrangement with his ex-husband, Leo is leaving the city and about to start a new job. He is a highly qualified and exceptional surgeon but he doesn't have great people or empathy skills, that seems to have been the catalyst for his failed marriage. Now that he is in a new town and single he feels lusty, wants to see if he can find at least a one night stand. When he sets eyes on Quinton he is quite certain he has found the man for the night and Quinton seems to agree. It is the morning after when Leo manages to, quite simply, make a complete mess of things and there we are left wondering how he could possibly pick up the pieces!.

A short prequel. Just showing how Leo and Quentin meet, their first hook up, and just how they go from spending the night together to Quentin storming out.
It's all a set up to their HEA novel.
My issues (and I know these aren't reflected in other reviews):
I don't see the point of these books unless they are freebie teasers. I certainly wouldn't use a credit to buy the audio. They would be better served as a prologue in the main novel.
Michael Dean appears to only do 2 voices. So these guys have the same voices as Gideon and Archer in Leo's ex's story.
Leo's age changed from 33 to 35. I don't know how old the author is but she implied early 30s was old and Leo had creaky knees. Maybe if he was a plumber and constantly on his knees.
Leo had only been with Gideon, then he mentioned other men, then he'd only been with Gideon again.
Leo spends a lot of time thinking about Gideon and the kids, even when he's being intimate with Quentin.
Gabbi does it again—a great intro into what sounds like a book we all need in our lives. I can't wait for the book to be released on audio.
This was a mini taster of two guys, Leo and Quinton; things don't go too smoothly once Quinton finds out what Leo does for a living.
As I said, I'm looking forward to the whole book.
Michael Ferraiuolo did an excellent job of narrating this book. As usual, I sped up the recording to 1.20 on Audible.

I received this audiobook for free from GRR at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review - neither the author nor GRR influenced my opinion.
I was a bit disappointed in this short introduction to the next book that will be Leo the arrogant surgeon and his sassy one night stand- too short…
We met Leo in Gideon’s Trust- he did not come across as a very forgiving, compassionate and kind soul to his ex husband Gideon- by keeping their children from him..
Now we get a small insight to him where he meets up with a one night stand in a gay club- sassy, sparkling Quentin who gives him a night he will never forget- by the way it ended on that cliff note!
I look forward to getting a more deeper insight into Leo where he meets his match!

Well, apparently this is a short story that helps us understand where Quinton and Leo start. I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of Leo after what he did to Gideon, but... I will give him a chance. I hope he redeems himself.
This short story is basically a prequel to "Quinton's Quest" that will be released soon. I don't think it is mandatory to read/listen to this one in order to read QQ, but I think it is a nice addition and will give you a bit of context.
It was a spicy short story that you can listen to, and for more context about Gideon and what Leo is talking about you can read "Gideon's Gratitude" as well.
Overall a nice audiobook/short story. I also like the narrator. I do recommend.
Leo's Lust is about Leo, who just moved in the city, where his ex-husband and father of his children lives and Quinton, who Leo meets at the bar and they have one-night stand which doesn't end well.
I didn't like Leo in Gideon's book and this short story didn't change my opinion about Leo, but I hope he gets better at the next part of the series. I already like Quinton. I can't wait to read next part.
Leo's Lust is a short story, part of the Love in Mission City series.
------------------------------------------------------- I received a copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
Leo moves to a small town in British Columbia after leaving a prestigious surgical position to live close to his ex-husband, with whom he shares joint custody of their two children. Leo decides to go to a gay bar the night before he starts his new job, and ends up meeting the playful and attractive Quinton. They end up having a one-night stand that is off the charts. All is well until Dr. Leo denigrates the lazy nurses at his previous hospital. The ending left me wanting more. It turns out the story continues in Quinton's Quest, which will be released on December 21, 2025.

This is a prequel to the next book in the Love in Mission City series.
This features Leo, the surgeon ex-husband of Gideon. We hated Leo in Gideon's Gratitude, who left Gideon and took his two kids with him.
Leo has only been with one man, and he's ready to move on. It's the night before his first day at a new hospital, and he's looking for a guy to pick up for the night. When he finds Quinton, it's perfect. He's understanding and kind, and everything he's looking for. But when Leo let's loose a negative reaction towards nurses, Quinton tells him to lose his number. Leo's going to have to do some serious groveling at work.
Spicy one night stand short story, set shortly after Gideon's Gratitude. Leo is Gideon’s ex, and this story gives insights into Leo’s personality. It feels like a prologue to a novel. It might be worth rereading when I reread Gideon’s Gratitude.

In Gabbi Grey’s fictional Mission City several couples have met and/or hooked up at the epic parties thrown by Quinton. Here, Quinton meets Leo (Gideon’s ex from Gideon’s Gratitude) at a bar. Nothing serious, just a hook up – until the end. This is a short story leading into the upcoming Quinton’s Quest. Grey always does a good job with these quick hit stories, leaving you wanting more!.

Leo’s Lust by Gabbi Grey is a super short, spicy MM read with all the tension and heat packed into just a few pages. It’s got that doctor/nurse trope and a single dad twist that adds a little extra heart.
Leo’s a newly divorced, uptight surgeon who meets Quinton—a flirty, sassy one-night stand who’s impossible to forget. Their chemistry is instant and electric. It’s fast, steamy, and leaves you hanging just when things are getting really good.
Can’t wait to see where their story goes next!.

I adored both of these characters. They were perfect together and for each other — until they weren’t. I can hardly wait until Quinton’s book comes out to see how they navigate the hospital scenes. Knowing that Gabbi’s books always have a HEA, I look forward to how Leo will dig himself out of the hole he has just created to get the man he needs. Really quick read, all primed to get the next book in the Mission City world.

I love a quickie… book that is… well the other too, if there’s time. And Gabbi Grey and Mission City is a great combo. Leo is a big up tight. As a parent, surgeon, ex-husband, he’s got a lot on his plate. After a two year drought he’s out on the town, hoping to get lucky. And Quinton is feeling lucky when he sees Leo. A hot night in a hotel has Quinton rushing out when Leo spills the beans he’s a doctor and hates lazy nurses… which Quinton is one! Gosh! What’s going to happen?.

Leo moves to be near his children because he doesn’t want to miss out and has shared custody with Gideon. Leo is a surgeon and met Quinton at a bar and ended in bed but then Leo said some things against nurses, one was they were lazy and always on their phones. Quinton said to lose his number as he was a good nurse because he didn’t want anything to do with him since he was just a useless nurse. Now Leo has a lot to make up for those remarks.

LEO'S LUST is a short story set in Gabbi Grey's Love in Mission City series. Surgeon Leopold Rodgers is just looking for a good time. Between work and his children, he really gets to cut loose, pretty much never. So when he meets the very hot Quinton the night before he starts a new position, he jumps on the chance to blow off some steam together...
Gabbi Grey's interlude is a sizzling one, and also whets readers' appetite for more for this potential couple... Can't wait to see how their story unfolds.
This was an odd one. Seems like there's some kind of redemption arc going on with Leo but I have very little sympathy. I haven't even read his ex's book, I'd probably hate him even more then, but even in this short, single POV story, in which he spends an unholy amount of time thinking about his ex, he comes off very much as the bad guy. Even thinking about his ex while literally in bed with his new man, which is far from ideal. I did like the twist at the end, saw it coming a mile off but felt like a bit of karma lmao. He deserves way worse.
Leo's Lust is a short, crisp, and thoroughly enjoyable read. Leo and Quinton meet here—I'm already looking forward to the next volume, which is about Quinton. But I was also curious about Leo's story, because I didn't find him very likable in Gideon's Gratitude. But it's nice that we can hear his story here. I like the stories from Mission City. As always, narrator Michael Dean has done an excellent job! A well-written and very well-narrated story.
Going into this short, I still wasn't one of Leo's fans but I had to keep remembering, with Gideon's Gr attitude I only heard Gideon's side of the story. Leo, a cardiothoracic surgeon was about to start a new job, a night without the children, he decides to try out the local gay bar. A hookup with a good lucking young man gives Leo a night to remember but a morning he would rather forget Another good narration by Michael Dean and listening to Leo's inner musings had me slowly liking him more
I found the story to have a very strong beginning. Being a short story I didn’t expect a long drawn out adventure but was a little disappointed that it left you hanging with one of the best lines by Quinton. I hope they find out they belong together because everyone deserves a happy ending as the characters were quite enjoyable.

Leo's Lust is another Misson City Short Story in the Love in Mission City series by Gabbi Grey. This is a sexy prequel story to Quintin's Quest. With his kids staying with his ex, Leo sets out for some fun and relaxation. When he meets Quintin there is instant chemistry. What ensues is an evening of sexy times and a promise of something more. Great beginning.

I loved this short teaser for the next book, Quinton’s Quest. It’s hot and Michael Dean did another great job performing Gabbi Grey’s words. I’m looking forward to reading Quinton’s Quest!
