fake geek boy. actual trash jesus. everything i touch turns gross.

as of right now i'm only adding friends that i know in the meatspace? i am sorry. i am 900% worse at communicating than you would expect. i don't even reply to texts from my own mother.

i'm also just reviewing things i like, because bad reviews make people sad and i am a squishy marshmallow.

I actually put off reading this story because I couldn't imagine Peter and Stiles coming together as gamers of all things--well dumb mistake which I'll officially own here. taylorpotato really is an ace at Steter, specifically consensual Steter, and this story boasts an experimental structure that I found really impressive. The opening chapters are rendered entirely in dialogue, specifically typed gamer shorthand and then "vent" where the players speak on a kind of team party line. In each format, the distinctive voices of our heroes could not come through more clearly and perfectly.

I was struck by the fact that this device (as used here) really would only work--at least work well--in a fanfiction. Peter and Stiles have no idea they're communicating with each other, but of course the reader does, and is able to read through all the little clues, giveaways, misunderstandings between them. In effect, the reader is in the position of an omniscient narrator, but only because we know prior to page one precisely who these two are and, since the story hews closely to canon, all the details of their history together. There are some holes, especially towards the end where the story shifts to a more traditional, dual POV narration.

As I said earlier, taylorpotato really and truly gets consensual Steter, by which I mean he is digging deep into his characters, discovering less obvious aspects and hidden potential to the original characters/performances, and then creating plots that explore them in ways that feel deeply authentic. I think this is what the best fanfic writers bring to the table as it were--going beyond hot sexytimes, fluff or fun plotlines to delve into those energies that lie at the heart of a fandom.

I *should* be reading my review book but I accidentally went on a Steter binge.

I haz a shame.

I know Jack shit about gaming but that didn't stop me from gorging on the first 3 of this series. I started 4 but it was Scerek so I bailed.

Because Peter.

description

Steter meet in some guild that involves dungeons. On second thought, maybe I should look into gaming...

The snark is high as is the smuff.

please don't use 'u' and 'you' in the same sentence. it hurts me.

"You're such a creep," Stiles grins when they break apart.
"Yep."
"My creep."
"Kudos to you, I'm quite a catch."
"Shut up, old man"

In retrospect it was prolly a mistake to read smutty Steter at work. Because role playing, begging, drooling cocks and breathplay, but what's done is done. I regret nothing.

The second one was mostly just Peter railing on Derek a.k.a. loveztojizz.

*gut laughs*

Peter created the handle!

Tormenting Derek shouldn't entertain me quite this much but Batman undies? Who knew they could send Derek over the edge?

description

On, oops. Perhaps I do see the problem. Sorry Derek.

The third was humorous but needed more Steter smuff.

Steter on!

I couldn't stop reading. In fact, I kept picking up my phone to read a bit more all afternoon. At work. On my second day at the new job. This book is a little like a train wreck: you can't stop looking even though it will give you nightmares.

More enjoyable than I anticipated it being, thank you for the rec Vivian!

Fabulous quotes:
paleclaws: please don’t use ‘u’ and ‘you’ in the same sentence. It hurts me.

paleclaws: I changed my mind. Using ‘u’ and ‘you’ in the same sentence is acceptable if it keeps you from creating bastardizations of the English language like ‘urself.’

mightymage: if i were gonna strangle a dude it would also b u
paleclaws: that’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.

paleclaws: life is nothing but a series of surprises.
mightymage: not the time to get all philosophical

[mightymage:] i think thats the douchebag mating dance

But ain’t nobody got time for that shit.

An amusing fanfic in which unbeknown to each other, Stiles and Peter are playing a 'world of warcraft' type game together online. The guys get more and more familiar until eventually they realise each other's identity. Lots of cyber sex.

I'm not even a Steter shipper really but I loved this. Excellent voicing in the PM's. Hilarious and smokin' hot, too.

I thought reading sterek fanfics was bad enough, but now steter as well?

I tend to keep my shippings to one couple per show otherwise it just feels like - nope, not good.

But, this premise was too much to resist... And I ended up liking it... A lot.
Peter was kind of adorable, even though that is not a word I thought I'd ever use to describe that psycho.

I doubt I'll continue reading steter fanfics, but I will not be opposed to them as harshly as I would have before reading this fanfic.

I'm not a gamer, but I absolutely loved the writing style with all the jargon. It was different and a very original way to get Stiles to like Peter and get to know him from scratch. There was cyber-smex, and then real-life sex, and all kinds of dirty goings-on:)) Loved it!

Awwww with the fucking sweetness. I loved the conversation/chat-speak/vent format, it totally worked. That being said, I always love seeing Stiles have to confess to Scott and/or the Sheriff that he is dating Peter (or Derek, as the case may be) as some of my favorite parts of fan-fic, so I was a little bummed to lose that. But this was a fun ride with some sexy snippets along the way. And this just sums it up perfectly:

When Peter says, "you belong to me," he means, "I'm yours as long as you'll have me."

When he says, "nobody else can ever touch you," he means, "you're too good for me, I don't deserve you."

"My good boy, you're such an eager slut, you're so pretty covered in black and blue,"
it all boils down to the same thing... "I love you."

Oh glory be told, I loved the kinky roleplays. I think Peter was a little too 'loving" for my taste but I enjoyed this anyway. Daddy kink? Teacher kink? yes please

I shouldn't like this as much as I do. I am not a gamer and the abbreviations and lingo were a bit hard to get used to, however, I loved this little story. It was great to Stiles and Peter away from Beacon Hills and interacting with each other online not knowing who the other really was. This felt very fresh and entertaining. Taylorpotato is a guaranteed hit for me these days.
