Sam Blake, queen of bingeable thrillers, is back with another banger.
Your Every Move is a sleek, nail-biting psychological thriller that quietly turns the ordinary into something unnervingly sinister. Rosie Kinsella has just moved from Paris to London and is thriving in her high-end estate agency job, confident, sociable, and on top of her game. But when anonymous messages start appearing from someone watching her life far too closely, that sense of security begins to crumble.
What starts as unsettling escalates quickly. Gifts arrive. Emails grow unnervingly personal. And when photos appear from inside her own apartment, paranoia sets in. The tension ratchets up as suspicion spreads, loyalties shift, and a colleague’s murder sends the story hurtling into full-blown danger. Blake builds atmosphere and dread with precision; even when a twist feels obvious, the creeping menace keeps you hooked.
Rosie herself is a strong, believable lead, sharp and capable, yet increasingly vulnerable under pressure. Her colloquial chats with fellow Irish agent Grace add warmth and humour, balancing the darkness of the stalking plot. Blake cleverly peppers the narrative with Instagram posts (“how it started,” “how it’s going,” “how it ends”), making Rosie’s social media presence part of the suspense in an immersive, modern way.
Seasoned Sam Blake fans (like me) will also delight in the little breadcrumbs dropped from her previous works; they’re subtle, clever, and add an extra layer of fun to the reading experience. The stalking elements are deftly handled, and the nods to the tragic Suzy Lamplugh case give the story a chilling, real-world resonance.
This isn’t a deep character study, but it’s a fast, compulsively readable domestic thriller: glossy on the surface with a rot of obsession and menace underneath. Did I figure out who the stalker was? Yes. Did it ruin the book? Absolutely not, I devoured every tense, page-turning moment.
If you’re after a thriller that’s stylish, gripping, and unputdownable, Sam Blake delivers once more.
