I had to stop and hesitate to read this book. Why? Because I knew if I did, I'd have no more STUDS to read, and I had a blast with this new series. I'm so glad they released all at the same time, but then what do I do with myself now that I've read everything by the author?
We're first introduced to Jasmine and Will in Barry's story. I was intrigued by the pair then, so I was happy to get their story. Another great opposites attract book. Jasmine and Will get on each other's last nerves- A LOT! Especially now that they work next door to the other. What starts out as heated frustration over arguing turns into another kind of heat.
I love Jasmine's spunk. She's not afraid to tell it like it is. I love Will's sensitive side, and how he opens up for new possibilities when he's around Jasmine. He's still suffering from something in his past and it takes a woman like Jasmine to help him slowly get past it- of course after a very frustrating encounter.
In this latest STUD installment, once again I had a roller coaster of feelings. It's been a pleasure to follow along the Stud books. Kylie Gilmore is at the top of her game with them. The badgering will begin for more. I have no problem resorting to begging.
I really loved Jasmine in this book. I loved Will. Their story is too adorable. I love how they both had their baggage and neither of them want to share it but in the end they let it all out. What I really liked about this one is the characters didn’t get along 75% of the time. They fought like crazy, Jasmine was always giving Will attitude. Will was always acting like he knew Jasmine better than she knew herself, which he really did. They fought, they made up, they fought, etc. It took a group of old ladies and a blanket to make her finally see the light, oh and a simple dance routine :)
When Jasmine opens her dance studio, she discovers, much to her dismay, she shares the building and parking space with Will, the orthodontist she's been fighting with all summer at the community theatre; he's too rigid, no fun - so why is she so attracted to him? Will used to be easygoing, until he caused the accident which crippled his brother, and had to live with that guilt ever since. Jasmine is too volatile, too outspoken, reminding him of is former life - so why is he so attracted to her? I expected more of this book from the description on the cover, to be honest, so I was a bit disappointed by the way the story was told. An nice plot - opposites attract each other - which could have led to numerous explosive and funny situations, but did not. The story tried to be amusing, maybe too hard, because some of the interactions/events/situations seemed to be a bit forced, the characters reacting way out of the normal. Would an orthodontist, as the owner, really put up with a colleague in his employ who acts in such a contrary way to everything he believes in and lives by? The characters themselves, especially the protagonists, were shallow in my opinion, even with that cloud of guilt over Will. And Jasmine's revelation? Came way too late, in the last third of the book, nearly close to the end. And I could not shake off the impression it was just put there as an afterthought to explain some of her reactions. The fights between Will and Jasmine were often caused by - yes by what? Never quite could put my finger on it, just one sentence or choice of word from one of them, and the other went off like a rocket? Must have been something deeper I could not understand. I thought the protagonists acted as if they were children or teens playing at being grown-ups - their behaviour was downright juvenile in some instances. Not convincing, not realistic at all. Overall, it was a nice story as such, but it could have been so much more, in my opinion. I do not think I will continue this series.
Another AMAZING book by Kylie Gilmore!!!This book has it all: Love, hate, smirkiness, tattoos. I loved every single word! Will is a different type of character in that he has a secret, one that I never saw coming, and knowing that secret, to me, added a lot more depth to his character. I enjoyed reading his transformation throughout the book, and I got the biggest kick out of his...shall we say, relaxation exercise?Jasmine is emotionally damaged and has a very hard outer shell. I liked the glimpses I got into her inner not-so-hard self, and I liked how she is a contrast to Will. This STUDS sub-series in the Clover Park set is absolutely brilliant, and I can't wait to read book 4!!!!!***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
There was just too much fighting between the couple, it just got to be annoying. I also didn’t like the Hero all that much, knowing that the heroine had been hurt I think he could’ve been more patient with her, but no it was just non-stop fighting. If you like love/hate romance to the extreme then this is for you, but if you just like a little love/hate where they fight in the beginning but then stop fighting as much when they fall in love then look elsewhere.
The author's writing style was so wooden and boring. The dialogue "loosened" up a bit by the time Jasmine and Will got together (maybe that was done on purpose?), but it was still cringe-inducing. The constant bickering (because they really weren't even really arguing) about NOTHING was annoyingly repetitive. And the whole "perfect bite" thing? Weird. The epilogue was almost out of left field. Would not recommend.
There were too many long winded speeches to be realistic, ....by everyone ... including the six year old daughter and the villain. It was cheesy. And the speeches were repetitious. But I did finish it after many eye rolls.
This one didn't really hit the mark for me, but i did read to the end because i wanted to know what happened. I didn't really like the heroine, i thought she came across rude rather than strong.
Was denkst du? Ist es nicht oft genau das, was wir brauchen?
I give Almost Over it by Kylie Gilmore Five stars! This is book one of the Clover Park STUDS series. This was very well written and had me laughing out loud more than once. Kylie has an amazing writing style and you will fall in love with every character in her books. She is so good that you will be hooked and you will feel the need to read every one of her books.
Jasmine Davis has just opened a dance studio in the little town of Clover Park and much to her not so happy surprise she realizes that she is going to have to share her building with Will Levi the guy she fought with all summer at the Community Theater. Jasmine can not get over the fact that Will is not only irritating but he is so rigid and uptight that it drives her insane. Even though will has these horrible traits Jasmine still find herself drawn to him.
Will Levi use to live his live on the edge and was always considered a bad boy until one fateful day he crashed his car and almost killed his brother in the process. Ever since that fateful day he has been trying to be good to make up for all the bad things he did in his life. When his new neighbor, Jasmine shows up he is irritated with her because he feels he doesn't deserve her but god does he want her. One kiss between the two of them sets everything in motion between the two of them, will they crash and burn or will they figure out how to get along. You will have to read it to find out!
As I got a tiny smidgen of bat shit in Will's character, I loved this book even more than the first two. And being like the previous books, there was a perfect balance of comedy, romance, emotion, and hot sex. I immediately took an interest in Will, beginning with his outer appearance: A stiff, anal-retentive, kinda' mean, hot, bespectacled orthodontist, who always wore bow ties. I knew that with the peeling back of his layers, something truly beautiful was going to emerge. It was the same for Jasmine, of course. She had to let go of her baggage as well, but as she was more of a free spirit, her revelations made a bit more sense to me. With Will and Jasmine's story, there was the prerequisite assortment of loveable kooky characters, like the old ladies of the knitting club, the other orthodontist Tony and his antics, Will's pothead brother, Jasmine's kinda' scary dad, and Will's truly evil rescue cat, 'Sweetie'. (Sweetie was so mean that he had to be placed in a new home, that was better suited for him. lol). The HEA was great, even though the very ending of it was a bit of a stretch, and was not needed, in my opinion. Still, another 5-star read!
They'd met during the summer doing community theater. They did not get along. It seemed all they did was fight about everything. Now Dr. Will Levi finds out that the stunning but annoyingly loud dance instructor in the adjoining space to his orthodonture clinic is the same woman that drove him crazy all summer.
Jasmine Davis is excited to finally open her own dance studio but things don't go as simple as she hoped when the same uptight, bow-tie wearing man that drove her nuts all summer is also sharing the space next door, and it seems nothing has changed. Will seems to want to pick a fight about every little thing, from her music to the use of parking spaces.
With the two constantly fighting and grating on each others nerves will they ever realize that love and hate straddle a very fine line? Sweet with plenty of heat, this novel was an excellent read, with both Will and Jasmine dealing with past issues determined to outline the rest of their lives and the struggle to come to terms with how those issues are predicting any future happiness.
At first glance, this is an opposites-attract story. He is rigid and uptight; she is flexible and fun; they rub each other the wrong way. But as we get to know Will and Jasmine, we see that isn't exactly what is happening. Both of them have changed themselves after difficulties in their lives. They both need to get over old wounds so they can be their true selves. Fortunately for us, we get to read about their journey, and it is both funny and touching. The secondary characters are fun, too. Tony is a hoot. There are also glimpses of characters that will come up later in the series. But the best is Maggie! She is so great. This book was a great combination of humor, heat, and emotion. I really enjoyed it.
Will Levi is an orthodontist who just took over his father’s practice but unknowing to him his father rented out the other half of the building to a dance teacher. The very same dance teacher that he crossed paths with earlier that summer. Jasmine is opening up a dance studio that her friend Brian Levi owns the building. What she gets in the process is his reprehensible son Will who she clashed with at every turn this past community theater season. The two war over everything but they also get each other’s passion for what they love. He’s straight and narrow because of a past he can’t quite get rid of and she’s always fighting for what she wants because of her own past on Broadway. These two find their way to each other in the most remarkable way.
Love reading this first book in Clover Park Studs series by Kylie Gilmore! When Jasmine Davis and Will Levi are near each other they can't stand each other but are attracted to each other. Jasmine wants the bow tie wearing straight laced orthodontist to loosen up and Will wants to turn the hard edged dancer Jasmine to be soft. Then Will's dad let's Jasmine open up a dance studio in the same building that Will has his orthodontist practice their emotions and conflicts run high. WOW! Wonderful read about Jasmine and Will's love/hate relationship and I highly recommend reading it. I received this book for free for a honest review.
Almost Over It by Kylie Gilmore was a great book, it had you smiling, there are some laughs, a bit of heartache and definitely some love. The characters are fun, strong maybe a bit hardheaded with some stubbornness. This was a really fun feel good kinda story you will not want to put it down till the end. It’s the dancer and the orthodontist that will keep you on your toes, keep you turning the pages just to read more of their great bantering. I highly recommend this fun and entertaining story. I hope you love it as much as I did.
Will knows his orthodontics! Water skiing molar bear, ha ha. Jasmine: Give it up about the parking. Sadly I had no idea what most of those ballet and dancer terms meant, or how to pronounce them.
Some of my favorite parts:
She melted against him like alginate dental impression material, only much warmer.
“Hey, Will. How’s the metal-mouth game?” Will frowned. Braces weren’t just about metal anymore. There were also ceramics, as well as plastic aligners. It was a much bigger orthodontic world than his brother ever knew.
Great start to this series! It took me a while to warm up to Will, the sexy orthodontist who is sharing his fathers building with dancer Jasmine. To say they are enemies, and do not get along is putting it mildly! They fight over just about everything, it's quite comical at times! Start the series off with this and brace yourself for the ride that Kylie will take you on! 4 1/2 stars enjoy the story and I can't wait for the next book!!!
Jasmine and Will can’t stop fighting every time they face each other. They can’t stand the attraction that this very enervating person brings up. This is a very fun story and we get the chance to discover each of their inner feelings and hurts hidden behind their stiffness. This story makes us laugh, cringe, moist our eyes and love those two characters to the core. We all cheer for their happily ever after. The epilogue is so beautiful!!!
I enjoy reading books by Kylie Gilmore. Jasmine and Will, the couple in Almost Over It, go from frenemies to lovers. They can't live with each other but they don't want to live without each other either. The secondary characters, including their family and friends and Sweetie the cat, are a fun addition to the story. For my personal taste I could use less bedroom scenes and more "dating". Overall, I enjoyed this first book in the Clover Park Charmers series.
Oh the back and forth bickering between these two is actually comical. Jasmine has just started her new dance studio and Will is right next door with his orthodontist office. He doesn’t like her loud music and she thinks he is a stick in the mud. But the sparks fly and they still keep arguing about just about everything. Kinda a fun story with a HEA.
I loved this story from beginning to end. Will and Jaz are the perfect couple... Too bad they can't see it for all the fighting they do. Will is the first to realize that he loves Jaz and works hard making her realize that she loves him too. It all works out and they get their HEA.
Will and Jasmine are a classic case of opposites attract. They both have so much baggage and manage to irritate each other but they can't deny the attraction they each feel. This story has lots of emotions and great characters. There are lots of laugh out loud moments and then the author turns around and pulls on your heartstrings. I look forward to more of this series.
This is an entertaining enemies-to-lovers romcom that has everything a good story should. It has a great storyline, great characters, feelings, and a happy every after. It was really enjoyable to watch the relationship between the protagonists grow and I enjoyed every page.
Loved Jasmine and Will. These two seemed like they had nothing in common when actually they had a lot in common. Jasmine was able to help Will overcome some issues from his past and Jasmine learned some things about her perception of her parents.
I loved it! Jasmine and Will's story was never ending love and fun. Well written characters and a town of matchmakers, and love is all around. Can't wait to read the next book!
He’s an Orthodontist and she’s a retired Broadway dancer. They share a wall between her (loud) dance studio and his practice. Lots of bickering and more making up. Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-galley for an honest review.
This book pulls you right in! I loved reading about Will and Jasmine because love isn't perfect, but messy. You can't help but love these two and possibly what to strangle them at times as well
