It’s a dangerous thing, being bonded to a monster.
Two years ago, Harper lost her closest friend. Everyone insists Evie is just missing, but Harper knows better than to entertain pointless hope. Besides, she doesn’t have time to grieve. The club she’s working at is a safety hazard, and her ex refuses to leave her alone, no matter how creatively she snaps at him. A hard life. One she has accepted will never change.
As the world’s only day-walking vampire, Maya produces terror in everyone around her. When the Court of Chains sends her to retrieve the chosen family of a beloved Court member, she’s relieved to get away from the constant staring. But the job isn’t as simple as first assumed.
A wolf is stalking her charge, having marked her as his. A feeling Maya shouldn’t understand, but which is echoed in her own body. The strange woman is sharp, snappy, and so entrancing that any threat pointed her way makes the world turn red. Though Maya never lets her fangs extend, every time she looks at Harper Montgomery, she is dying to have a taste.
Sun-Kissed Fangs is a sapphic paranormal romance about learning how to hope, trust, and love, even when you think yourself unworthy.
Rawnie Sabor is an author of fantasy romances filled with troubled people and gorgeous monsters.
She delights in everything dark and dreamy, especially sapphic love stories with a heartache-inducing relationship at their center. Rawnie lives in a Scandinavian harbor town and spends most of her time either writing or thinking about writing. A certified night owl, her free evenings involve researching obscure folklore or conjuring story ideas for her ever-growing fantasy worlds.
Rawnie has done it yet again. I have been counting down the days until this book was released, and the wait was so worth it.
After reading Green-Eyed Monster and got a glimpse of Maya, I knew I wanted to hear her story next. She was even more surprising than I had even expected, she was such a sappy vampire. I also loved the twist of the other MC being Evie’s best friend Harper. Maya and Harper both were so easy to love, and the two of them together just fit.
This one definitely felt like it had a bit less action than the others, with a lot of it being at the end, but I do feel as the romance did make up for it. I’m a sucker for a “touch her and you die” type of book, and this series just knows how to do it perfectly.
These books always find a way to throw in some good character growth, and both MCs needed it in their own way. Their love made me so giddy the whole time, I ate it up.
It was nice to have Natalya and Evie make a somewhat decent appearance in this book, their story is still by far my top, but now Maya and Harper’s is a very close second.
I need more in this series, stat. Will there be more? If so, who’s it gonna be? Why does part of me want it to be Roisin, she’s got my attention. I can’t wait to find out!
Rawnie Sabor did it again… much like the other books in this series, once I started it, I couldn’t put it down.
Everything about this was just so good. I LOVED Maya and Harper. Their witty back-and-forth banter had me kicking my feet and giggling the entire time. Unlike the previous installments, the connection between these two was natural in the sense that there was attraction from the get-go, and neither of them fought against it, which was quite refreshing to see. Maya is literally so swoon-worthy oh my god, I don’t blame Harper at all because I definitely fell in love with her too. And as always, there’s the classic Rawnie Sabor spice. I mean… the scene in the cabin. That’s all I’ll say!
You also get to see more of Natalya and Evie in this, which is *always* a bonus.
I’ve completely devoured this entire series in less than a week, which is a testament to how good Rawnie Sabor’s writing is— she’s quickly climbed up the ranks to become one of my favorite authors. I’ll definitely be rereading this along with the rest of the series up until her next release!
Can I give this more than five stars!? Because I want to!! 😂 It was so good!! Start to finish, I love it. I struggled to put it down. If it wasn’t for life (damn adulting) I’d have never stopped reading till I finished. Honestly, did I have a single doubt in my mind that wouldn’t Rawnie smash this!? Hell no! Rawnie can do no wrong!! Her finest work. I think every time I read another one of her books, it becomes my “favourite Rawnie Sabor book”, so clearly, they’re all my favourites. If you’ve never read a Rawnie Sabor book, here’s your sign!
The plot, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻, brilliant. I loved the storyline and how it started off and progressed. I adored Maya’s and Harpers relationship and watching it develop. They’re just two messed up girls, who haven’t been having a great time, until they meet each other 😉. The characters, were A+, all the side characters and it was nice to see some familiar faces! Natalya and Evie, I’m looking at you!
The spice!….hold please, because I need a moment 🫠🔥 That was. Truly. Incredible. Like there was a couple scenes where I was deceased. Dead. On the floor. Kicking my feet. So good. Chefs kiss honestly. Rawnie ALWAYS writes incredible spice. And it’s always varied from book to book. With each couple having their own dynamic (even when they’re all domme/sub. They’re still all so unique).
Just…read it. What more can I say? HIGHLY recommend!
Written in third person with 2 main POV’s. Soon to be audiobooks, narrated by Allie Shae. Part of the Court of Chains series (to be read after Green-Eyed Monster but can be read as a standalone). Found Family, Vampire/Human, Fantasy/Paranormal, Touch Her and Die, Vampires and Werewolves, Brat Taming. 6x Spicy Scenes.
I was sent this as an ARC (Thank you Rawnie!). In exchange for an honest review. Above are my own and honest thoughts/opinions. (Can’t wait to buy a physical copy and listen to the audiobook once it’s released 😍)
After four books, I can say that Rabor never disappoints. I was hooked from page one, with characters and “monsters” so scarred by life meeting and healing each other while having amazing chemistry. Rabor’s signature spice is hot as hell, as usual, and what makes Rabor’s strength is her ability to deliver spice, emotional development, and action. I loved the dynamic between Harper and Maya; that taming the brat dynamic was perfect. I found the book a little less intense and dark than the previous ones, where all the dots connected in the end. I wished to see more of Maya’s past, which was brought up quickly in discussion. I adored her and wanted to know even more about her. I haven’t read all the books in the series, and that’s on me, but I felt like I missed out on details about vampires. There were some questions whose answers I would probably find in Aleksander’s book, like do vampires keeps the same personality when then turn? How does feeding from a human safely work and how special is that connection? And I need Angela to study Maya’s abilities! These lingering questions in the back of my mind prevent me from giving it a perfect rating. But it’s another amazing book in this series that I can only recommend.
Much like Sabor’s other novels I’ve read, once I picked this up I had a hard time putting it back down. I’ve been eagerly waiting to read Maya’s story for a while, I’m so glad this is out now!
While this wasn’t my favorite in the series, it was a great time and I really enjoyed both Maya and Harper as characters. Sabor’s sapphic novels will always be must-reads for me.
Memorable Quotes: "Not everyone got how it felt to be othered because of your identity. To feel alone because of who you were and who you fell in love with. When you found people who knew what that was like, they were hard to replace" - Harper (Chapter 22, pg. 257). "It was more than a pull. It was a demand. A need to find Harper again. To feel the peace her presence afforded, to give in to the rage that came when she was threatened. A yearning based in necessity, like a falling feather drifting by the laws of gravity" - Maya (Chapter 24, pg. 285). "But it doesn't beat being alone with you. You shine, Harper. You make everything around you brighter. I'd take a minute of silence with you over weeks of conversation with anyone else" - Maya (Chapter 29, pg. 343). "She's patient and decent, and she can handle me better than I can even do myself. I've never had that before. She's not the monster everyone says she is" - Harper (Chapter 32, pg. 378). "You're remarkable, Harper. You're one of the most marvelous people I've ever met. Every time I'm with you, you do something unexpected that makes you all the more wonderful. And it pains me that you don't see it yourself" - Maya (Chapter 33, pg. 390,). "Pain was a language. A way for your body to communicate to your brain that something was wrong. Once death set in, it was useless. No one was present to hear the alarm, so it shouldn't be ringing at all" - Maya (Chapter 38, pg. 442). "Being around you is a gift. Not a burden. Loving you isn't devastating. To everyone who knows, really knows you, it's the easiest thing in the world" - Maya (Chapter 43, pg. 491).
Review: The amazing Rawnie Sabor does it again with another court of chains book. This time around I had the privilege of anticipating this book ever since I had read the three previous books and loved them. So, going into this book I had a lot of expectations and excitement of getting to see some characters from previous books. For the most I absolutely loved this book. The introduction to Maya being a day walking Vampire and being stationed as an undercover in order to convince Evie's friends to go to the court of chains was so smart. Not only was it a continuation to kiss of seduction and Evie's arc getting more closure, seeing Maya and Harper fall in love was so beautiful. As Maya was forcefully transformed as a vampire and with everyone purposely avoiding her just because of what she is was so sad. But like Evie, Harper was not afraid of what Maya was when she found out. But also addressing the elephant in the room... I never would have thought hating a character as much as I hated freaking Harper's ex or he who shall not be named. But I give props for Harper being mentally strong enough to fight against the disgusting excuse of a man. But one thing I love most was the protectiveness Maya had with Harper. There was never a moment where she forced Harper into something she didn't want, and I believe that quality is often overlooked in sapphic books. The kind of love that's full of warmth, admiration, and respect. That's the kind of love Maya shown Harper and it warmed my heart seeing them interact. The only thing that slightly disappointed me was not the inclusion of Vex. With the previous book being about Vex and Angela, I expected more than she was just briefly referenced as the "shadow." I'm not sure why this is becoming a theme where Rawnie just has characters disappear following getting a book written. I'd be so sad if this happened to Maya and Harper just like Reyna, Violet, Vex, Flea, and Blake. Overall, this book was amazingly written, and I love Harper and Maya. 5 stars all the way.
another fantastic book from rawnie sabor!!! i am just obsessed w the court of chains ⛓️
this book felt so raw and the way Maya and Harper were written had SO much depth and growth and made me so emotional 😭
i was on my toes with every chapter with all the conflict in this book and i LOVED it! ugh i’m sad it’s over but can’t wait for whatever comes in the future!
I could NOT put this one down! Sun-Kissed Fangs completely wrecked me in all the right ways. Watching Maya and Harper slowly realize they were worthy of love, tenderness, and being truly chosen hurt so good. Their connection feels deeply intimate because neither of them tries to “fix” the other or make them smaller for their pasts. They simply love each other as they are, scars and all.
Getting to finally meet and spend time with Evie’s found-family made this world feel even richer, and learning more about Maya added so much emotional depth to everything. Rawnie Sabor writes yearning, vulnerability, and devotion in a way that sinks straight into your blood. And, as always, the spice absolutely delivers with equal parts emotion and steam.
This book truly portrays what it feels like to finally be seen, wanted, and held with both hands and a whole heart.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Favorite Quotes: “It was the kind of smile that could make you spill a thousand secrets. Make you tell every joke you knew, just for the chance of seeing it again.”
“Not everyone got how it felt to be othered because of your identity. To feel alone because of who you were and who you fell in love with.”
“I wasn’t living before I met you. My life didn’t feel like mine. But you showed me. Reminded me. My heart and soul had no purpose before I met you. You are my everything.”
Getting to eat up this book chapter by chapter over on the patreon was a delicious and specific torture I can’t wait to repeat over and over with future stories, so go on over and sign up to Rawnie’s patreon so you can get a taste.
Anywho, I am in love with these two. Meeting Harper was an incredible experience. Something to be said about strong women. Mentally strong. Emotionally strong. Strong enough even to let someone else carry a bit of her burdens, or spank the grief out of her…depends on the mood of course. She is exactly who I didn’t know I was hoping to be the first one to understand Maya. Maya in all of her deep loyalties and no one willing to get close enough to offer her the same…until Harper that is.
As a side note, I’ve read Taste of Pain but this book is where I found myself liking the King of Chains, I’m getting the feeling that guy might be funny? 😉
This book brings some of my personal favorite tropes: Fated mates, touch her and 💀 & BRATTAMING 😮💨 🤤 Rawnie Sabor consistently kills it. Oh and give me credit for waiting this long, review could have said LESBIAN VAMPIRE/BRATTY STRIPPER and been a perfect no notes needed review.
This book was everything! Nobody writes hurt/comfort like Rawnie Sabor. If you didn’t know already, I’m obsessed with this series. I’m a massive fan of Rawnie’s writing. She doesn’t miss! 🙌🏼👏🏼
I fell in love with both main characters the second I met them. For Maya, that was two books ago when my heart broke for her while I read Wrath and Patience (you don’t have to read W&P before reading this, but it is really cool to see the extra insight into her character). When I read Green-Eyed Monster, I was rooting for Maya to get her own story the whole time. And now that the time is finally here and I got to see her as the main character of her own book? It was everything and more that I wanted for this gorgeous day walking vampire.
The dynamic between Maya and Harper was perfect. I loved that there was a slow build between them as they developed a friendship (with obvious desire on both sides) before they acted on their sizzling chemistry.
The spice, as always, was fantastic! High heat and life or death stakes looming in the background? Yep, sign me up every damn time! 👏🏼
I highly recommend this book and the entire series (make sure to check TWs first).
Whew! Another fabulous story by this amazing author! Thank you to the author for an advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have been intrigued with Maya since she first appeared. I really wanted to get her pov. She had a beautiful arc in this story. I loved her more and more after every page she was on.
Harper was a spitfire and I loved how she was with Maya. She also had a lovely arc especially within herself. I loved how much they complimented one another, both emotionally and relationship wise.
I loved having more Evie (and Natalya) and having this found family more together was so wonderful and heartwarming. Now we need Nell and Patricia’s stories! (I’m also wondering about Roisin ;)) alas who knows, but Rawnie can write anything and I’ll be reading and then rereading through audio when it comes out!
What in the world did I just read?!?! Day walking vampires, evil werewolves, and a plethora of other supernatural beings. Court of Chains, my god. You want an edge of your seat sapphic supernatural book? This! Yes it can be a stand alone, but the love I have for Kiss of Seduction, A Little Sin, and Green-Eyed Monster, those should be read too in your own time. I had set this down a few times just to breathe and process, but my brain went screw it after a few seconds and continued reading.
Maya, a day walking vampire, has a job to do and that’s to get a Court of Chains member her beloved family members, including Harper. Getting to meet Evie’s found family, and loving them just as much as much is perfect. Having thrown Maya into the mix, adds tension but more depth and makes it emotional is the best ways.
Tenderness. Love. Vulnerability. Seen and wanted. You have been found worthy. Rawnie Sabor writes this book so beautifully, it grabs you and doesn’t let go at all, even as you read the last words. These characters show you don’t need to fix your person just to be with them, just letting them be themselves with all the scars. Both characters grow as a couple but even more so individually too. Maya, fighting against what she has become, hating herself for it. Harper, in her reluctance to have a happy relationship, and overcoming the hand her life has taken. These two with the banter, the sass, the patience, and how they are with and without each other, is a beautiful story.
Court of Chains is truly a fascinating world. Beautifully put together, twists and turns, and full of spice. Rawnie Sabor’s books are one that I will always want to read for the first time again. This book (and the others), is written in a way that pulls you in and make you want to devour the book. I can not get enough of these books! I can’t wait to see what else Rawnie Sabor has in store for this world.
Didn't expected to be this disappointed(it's mostly personal preferences, you may enjoy it for the exact reasons I didn't)
Dnf
**********spoiler************ Trying to read the last pages of the book thinking maybe I'll find something that would pull me to finish reading this had done the opposite.
"Nothing that happens at the Lotus could make me jealous. Your body is yours. What you do with it is your choice. As long as you have that choice, there’s nothing for me to be upset about"
get out.I refuse to believe I've read this.Go and takes some lessons from the other love interests. She doesn't get jealous at all though the book.IN A STRIPPER BOOK.She couldn't give less fucks.Like...oh she just was all over someone's lap and giving exactly the same eye fucks she gives you but it's fine guys she knows where home's at.
I understand what the author was trying to do,but it was done the wrong way in my opinion.
Another question where was the whole "your body is yours to do what you want " thing when Harper was jealous?🤔or that doesn't apply to Maya now does it?
They feel attraction at first sight ,16% in and already they want to jump eachothers bones.
So I will not be finishing this beacause....um what's the point?I don't feel like reading a book with 500 pages with insta attraction where the love interest has no Jealousy and the fmc job is to sit in someone's lap beacause they love it....the pole dance ?I get it.The FLIRTING AND EYE FUCKING AND THE LAP DANCING...there's also apparently no third act break up...(no growel arc) and throw some jealous toxic and possessive ex boyfriend that shows more interest than the love interest. Yeah no thanks❤️waiting for the next book.
CoC is always getting a 5 from me, idc. Love reading about this world of monsters and it’s so beautifully written too. I’m fully wrapped up in Maya and Harper this time around. Glad we got some special appearances from the other chains members too ofc. I only feel short handed because 1, there was no claiming ceremony or even talk of it, and I love those and 2, the court has grown in size, power and territory by this point, I believe the enemy chosen in this case was a weak one all things considered. It was the equivalent of a child’s tantrum after having toy taken away.
Now that we have more established weapons in the form of diverse monsters at court I want like avengers end game level threat and a full scale response. Dunno if I’ll ever get it but hey. I can dream.
I got this as an arc so here is my honest review. I wanted to like this more than I did. Compared to the other books in the series I felt like this was a bit flatter. I didn't really get any emotional attachment to the main characters and I honestly ended up liking Evie a little less for the majority.
I felt like Maya's story, which I was really looking forward to delving into, was missed out on and not explored much if at all, and not even really mentioned until 84% in. Harper's wasn't particularly intriguing but we got more insight into it than Maya, and, at one point, I found myself more intrigued by Nell then them as a couple.
I just feel like for a story centrered around Maya and Harper it was more Harper centric with some Maya sprinkled in. Becuase of that I found it hard to keep engaged and struggled to finish/continue reading it.
Well written, no issues just I didn't think it felt very engaging.
I'm missing things here and there. The central "kink" isn't explored nearly as much as the other books did. Some behaviour had me questioning the characters and overall plot logic was lacking a little. Otherwise another fun installment of the series.
After enjoying the first three installments of this series, the fourth book comes as a major disappointment and a severe decline in the quality of writing. This is terribly painful for me because I genuinely wanted to clear my schedule this weekend and had planned to enjoy this book after an immense amount of hype since its announcement. I waited for it a long time, and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. 😩
The novel suffers from deep crises in narrative structure, where the author fabricates cheap drama and convoluted paths at the expense of narrative logic and character integrity, all to serve and justify a slow, forced romantic arc. The story also faces painful contradictions and double standards in character development (especially regarding human dignity and the objectification of the body), extreme superficiality in psychological interactions, and a complete lack of realism in reactions to trauma and danger. Unfortunately, the lazy narrative style and reliance on telling rather than showing made it difficult to sympathize with the characters or enjoy the story, despite the author's usual excellent intimate narrative quality. ─── ⚠️ WARNING: The following lines contain major spoilers! ⚠️ *(The text below includes details and story spoilers)* A Major Disappointment: After thoroughly enjoying the first three F/F installments in the series (skipping the M/F ones), I started the fourth book with enthusiasm, only to be shocked by a severe drop in the quality of writing and an accumulation of catastrophic points that I, as a reader, simply cannot overlook. Even though I adore the excellent and very rare intimate narrative of romance in this author's novels, even the greatest of these narratives fall flat in the face of writing that makes me facepalm at its convoluted and poor execution. Especially when the plot itself revolves around it.
The text suffers from deep crises in narrative structure, principles, and the psychological depth of the characters, which can be summarized in these detailed points:
1. The Collapse of Narrative Logic and Fabrication of Cheap Drama Although the story belongs to the fantasy genre (vampires and werewolves), fantasy does not justify chaos. The author established massive tools of power for the "Court of Chains" and the powerful, influential demon who forms the second ruling power in that court, "Natalya," who easily saved "Evie" from the vampires' den. Basic logic dictates that Natalia should immediately use this influence to save Evie's chosen family (Evie being the dearest person to Natalya) and bring them to safety.
Instead, the author chooses a convoluted and ridiculous path: sending "Maya" (a vampire 😅😅) and "Diana" on a secret mission, having Diana infiltrate as a bartender to slowly gain the girls' trust and convince them to go willingly to the Court of Chains!
A million simpler, easier, and more direct scenarios came to my mind. For instance, what if Evie went to meet them under Natalia's protection, avoiding this entire sterile mess of events that is nothing but filler? Why did the author even set it up just to force this scenario...
The girls are living in a neutral zone threatened by werewolves, and Harper's ex-boyfriend is lurking around to force her to return to him. I should add that this ex is one of the most poorly written villains I have ever read.
Why are they left in this imminent danger when a direct solution is available? The answer is simple: the author deliberately fabricated these complications to create space for a slow, forced romantic relationship at the expense of narrative logic and the characters' safety, completely stripping the story of its credibility.
2. Crisis of Principles and Double Standards (Harper and Maya) The author insists on glamorizing the "objectification of the body" and portraying it as a form of empowerment! The character "Harper" works as a stripper, not out of necessity or as a victim of compelling circumstances, but as a choice stemming from a desire to exploit men's gaze and drain their money.
This is not empowerment; it is a form of mutual degradation that strips human dignity of its meaning. There is a repetitive, crude, preachy, and forced reiteration of the idea that "sex work is work," which made me loathe the introductory segment of the story and Harper's character, even after I gave the story a chance to explain her reasons.
The story carries a painfully contradictory set of principles...
The glaring contradiction appears when Harper recalls her past with her violent ex-partner.
She considers his physical abuse crossing a "red line" (which it absolutely is), but at the same time, she accepts offering her body as a commodity to strangers under the pretext of "consent" and choice! How can a violation be rejected in one context and accepted in another? Dignity here is not a fixed principle, but merely a flexible and fragile standard.
What is even more provoking is the acceptance of this situation by "Maya" (the vampire). Maya claims to care for and emotionally connect with Harper, yet she shows no real rejection or jealousy regarding the objectification of the body of the person she supposedly cares about.
Her annoyance with Harper's previous relationship was limited to technical details like the "lack of sexual aftercare" and the violence, ignoring the core of the violation itself! This blind acceptance reflects neither love nor understanding; rather, it reveals a complete loss of a moral compass, making it impossible and repulsive to sympathize with this relationship right from the start.
3. Superficiality of Psychological Interactions and "Telling Instead of Showing" There is a terrifying gap between the magnitude of the events and the characters' reactions. Girls who have lived for years in terror and on the run receive the news of their friend Evie's kidnapping and the torture she endured with extreme coldness, and they accept the idea of moving as if nothing happened. This oversimplification destroys the depth of the trauma and robs the scene of its realism.
Even "Harper," despite knowing the real threats surrounding her, ignores the survival instinct and the fear she has lived with for years, refusing to step away from "Maya" under the pretext of sudden, fast-paced emotional feelings!
Finally, the author ruined Harper's character with a lazy narrative style. Instead of building her psychological complexities through situations and actions shown to the reader, she resorted to cramming direct, repetitive traits into the narrative, repeatedly stating that she is "sharp, negative, and off-putting." This approach turned Harper into a rigid, annoying mold, depriving us of the opportunity to understand or sympathize with her. 😩
Okay babes....First things first — thank you to Rawnie Sabor for this ARC that broke my brain completely and I am not even a little bit upset about it.
Let me just say this clearly and with my whole chest (ten toes in the ground; very LOUDLY) before we go any further — Rawnie Sabor is a gift to the sapphic romance space. An absolute gift. And I am so glad she exists and writes and keeps raising the bar because I genuinely do not know what we would do without her.
Okay. Sun-Kissed Fangs.
Harper is sharp and snappy and fierce and carrying more than anyone should have to carry — grief she will not let herself feel, a life she has accepted will never change, an ex who cannot take a hint, and a club job that is held together with what appears to be thoughts and prayers. And then Maya arrives. The world's only day-walking vampire. A woman who produces terror in everyone around her simply by existing — and who takes one look at Harper Montgomery and feels something she has absolutely no framework for and no defense against.
The dynamic between Maya and Harper is complex and flawlessly executed and I am so gone for both of them I cannot even begin to describe it. Maya — oh Maya. I have a massive crush and I will not be apologizing for it. She is everything. And the way she softens around Harper — the way Harper's fierceness meets Maya's careful, controlled danger and something entirely new is created between them — it is just beautiful to watch unfold.
The world-building in this series is enthralling in a way that is genuinely rare — it pulls you in from the very first page and does not let go. Rawnie has built this world that feels lived in and specific and real, and this installment deepens everything she has already established in the most satisfying way possible.
Now. The kink. We need to talk about the kink because Rawnie Sabor does something with it that is entirely unique to her skill and craft, and I need everyone to understand this. She does not just write spice — she challenges what you think you know. She opens concepts and explains them with such care and intelligence that you find yourself going oh. OH. So THAT is what that means. It is genuinely educational and completely, devastatingly hot all at the same time, and I was fully unhinged about it. I scared people in public with my physical reactions and audible gasps, and I have zero regrets. Zero. Honestly, I feel bad for the people who weren't reading the book bc DAMN are they missing OUT.
What Rawnie does consistently across all of her books — and this one is no exception — is write flawed, beautiful, tortured souls who find healing and redemption through love. The craft is impeccable. The emotional depth is real. And she just keeps getting better and better, which I genuinely do not understand because she was already pretty freaking amazing from the jump. I cannot pick a favorite book in this series. Do not ask me. I will not be doing that. I am receiving DMs about this, and my answer remains the same — shame on all of you for even trying. BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL AMAZING. It's like asking what my favorite Taylor Swift song is - I won't be doing that either. SHAME I SAY!!!
And if you are not already on Rawnie's Patreon — babes. Get there immediately. She is serving up goodies to us sapphics on a regular basis and you will be fed. This woman gives and gives and gives to this community and it deserves to be shouted from every rooftop.
Sun-Kissed Fangs is everything I need and everything the sapphic romance space deserves. Rawnie Sabor — what a gift. What an absolute gift.
୨୧ book title: sun-kissed fangs ୨୧ author: rawnie sabor ୨୧ my rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
୨୧ blurb: sun-kissed fangs follows harper, a woman who’s already given up on hope after losing her best friend and dealing with a life that keeps getting worse instead of better. when her job pulls her into the orbit of maya, a day-walking vampire tied to a powerful court, things quickly spiral into something far more dangerous than either of them expected. maya is sent to protect her… but harper isn’t just being watched—she’s being marked by a wolf who claims her as his. as tension builds and boundaries blur, the connection between harper and maya becomes impossible to ignore. in a world full of monsters, the most dangerous thing might be falling for the one person you were never supposed to want.
୨୧ my review: as per usual when it comes to reading any rawnie sabor books, i was hooked from page one and could not stop delving deeper into the court of chains universe. just when i think her books cannot get any better, they always do. rawnie sabor never disappoints. i think i could read 10 more books in this series and not get bored. each story always has its own gravitational pull that sucks you in from the very first page until the last. maya and harper’s story was no exception, and as per usual, i fell in love with the characters. maya is most definitely my new book girlfriend. i truly saw myself in harper from the beginning. i related to her story in more ways than one. maya’s acceptance of harper as a whole without any sort of judgment (and vice versa) was incredibly healing for me. as someone who has dealt with outside rumors being spread about me that were never true and existed only to break me down, every interaction between maya and harper—especially when rumors and other people’s assumptions about them threatened to tear them apart—always came down to both of them seeking the truth from one another and trusting that no rumor could destroy what they had or scare them off. they did not let fear interfere with their intense romantic connection that seemed to be fated from the start.
the chemistry between maya and harper was everything and then some. the bond between them could be felt through every turn of each page. addicted would be an understatement. i fell in love with their story.
honorable mention: i almost feel like this book could be read right after kiss of seduction and kiss of love because it picks up after natalya and evie’s story, so i’m glad i re-read both of those books before delving into this one.
overall: do yourself a favor and read this book if you love wlw romances.

Buckle up, this review is going to be longer than usual because I have THOUGHTS! My brain hasn’t quite recovered from this book. I had to lie down for the final chapters because my body was not okay!
First of all. Maya Fucking Novak Might have... MIGHT have stolen the top spot from Natalya. The crush is hard. There’s just something about her energy that is alluring, powerful, dangerously affectionate and flirty. I’m only human. And I am here for all of it.
This story is so different to the others in the Chains series, and it had me seated. 500 pages in 3 days? That’s unheard of for me, but I was all in!
I already know the audio will destroy me, because, Allie Shae. That’s all I need to say about that. After devouring the audio for Kiss of Love, it was the perfect bridge to dive into this book.
Harper is a feisty one for sure. Her wit is as sharp as her tongue and it’s proven to be an effective tool of keeping people at a distance (and getting herself in trouble) until she meets Maya, and that ridiculously charming smile of hers makes her brain buffer like slow wi-fi.
I LOVED Maya’s way of Brat-taming, no spoilers, but I was almost in tears at some points and grinning like an idiot at others! The chemistry between these two leads is palpable and HOT! Rawnie Sabor has outdone herself.
They challenge each other, spur the other on, and have a deep-routed understanding of how the perception of others isn’t always the truth. No matter what you tell yourself.
Also, the cameo appearances of some of my favourites only made Maya and Harpers dynamic even stronger.
And yes, “Rawnie Sabor Spice” is now forever more a thing! There’s something infallible about how Rawnie writes spice that should be studied! It goes beyond the s*x, it’s a psychological release that tests what you think you know, and somehow always brings you back in safely.
This is also possibly the first time since Kiss of Seduction that there’s been SUCH an on-page villain presence, and I was NOT okay!
Kieran, the Lycanthrope. I can only describe as a violent, man-child-Alpha with short-man syndrome. I have more words, but none suitable for GoodReads.
And I despised him. Well played, Rawnie! Your work is done.
The level of threat he presented early on only gets more severe as you go. Questionable alliances, brutal ‘leadership’ and with how hungry he is for Harper, the feeling that sat on my chest throughout this book... OOF! I was not ready for it. ‘Intense’ doesn’t quite cover it. But I couldn’t get enough.
And as always, make sure you check the TW list on Rawnie’s website before diving in, as much as you’re put back together at the end we don’t want any broken souls here!
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this advanced reader copy. This honest review was based off my experience reading this eARC, which in no way biased me. All opinions are my own.
This is the fourth book of this author’s that I have read, and second book that I have had the privilege to ARC read.
I have to say, I love a vampire romance; don’t judge, I guess that’s what happens when you read twilight during your formative years.
In Sun-Kissed Fangs we have: a sapphic vampire x human paranormal romance (I feel the need to clarify, that the vampire is a recently made vampire, not hundreds of years old) a sex worker x bartender (with an undercover mission hence the bartending) a strict no fraternizing with coworkers in the club rule (aka sprinkle of forbidden romance but they dance right at the edge of that boundary with so much flirty banter) we love a found family that was lost and then found again a supernatural turf war with some pretty evil lycanthropes (werewolves) and a few cameos of our favorite MCs from the previous books in the series
Now that I have your attention Sun-Kissed Fangs is centered around Harper and Maya. If you’ve read the other books in this series, Harper’s name should ring a bell, she is one of Evie’s best friends, and we are introduced to Evie as one of the MCs in Kiss of Seduction. Maya is a relatively new name to the Court of Chains series, but is a recent addition to the court with her mysterious vampire characteristics. She’s a day walking vampire so she’s extra scary, but most people don’t know she hates being a vampire and doesn’t feed on humans. I wish we got to know more about her past, but from what we do know, it was unsavory so perhaps it’s best not to go too far with it. Maya has been sent on a mission to retrieve Evie’s best friends from the seemingly neutral turf of St. Louis, I say seemingly because it’s bordered by a lycanthrope pack. A pack with a member that Harper has some history with, Kieran, who thinks that he’s got some moronic wolfy claim on her because he thinks he’s her mate.
Anyway, the journey that this story takes us on is a wild one at that. I really enjoyed reading Harper and Maya falling for each other. How the things that they don’t like about themselves are things that the right person can and does love them for. They really bring out the best in each other, it was really a sweet love story. While mainly it’s Harper with her found family; Maya gets her own in a mentor, and two really good friends.
📖 AT A GLANCE STARS 5 stars (or more) SPICE super spicy CHEMISTRY off the charts ANGST so angsty SLOW BURN medium CLIFFHANGER no CHARACTERS Maya and Harper
💬 LINES THAT LIVE RENT-FREE “Okay, calm down, will you? You’re making it sound like Kieran committed a crime or something.” “He did. Safe words should not be disrespected like that. They aren’t toys to have fun with, and they should never be taken away as a means of punishment. If Kieran did that, then he assaulted you, Harper.”
I don’t know why I am this way or what let me be so lucky that I get to be in your presence. But I know this. That no matter what happens, I will always be able to find you. Even if my mind doesn’t know where you are, my heart always will.
🖤 WHY THIS STORY HIT ME SO HARD Good Lord. Rawnie Sabor is an absolute magician with words. I am completely obsessed with her creativity. A “Sun-Kissed” vampire struggling not to lose control, paired with one mouthy, bratty stripper? Inject it directly into my veins. The dynamic between Maya and Harper had me hooked immediately. The storytelling was addictive, the tension was delicious, and the spice? Whew. The way Maya takes control had me MELTING.
🫀CHARACTER THOUGHTS Maya is such a badass, but what I loved most was how unbelievably tender she was with Harper. Harper has been through so much abuse, and Maya handles her with such patience and care that it honestly made my heart ache. And Harper? Fierce, bratty, convinced nobody could truly want or handle her. Meanwhile Maya is standing there fully prepared to ruin this woman’s life in the best possible way. And WOW… she absolutely delivers.
🔥 MOMENTS I’M STILL THINKING ABOUT That ending??? EXCUSE ME??? When everything starts unraveling and impossible choices are being made, I was completely gutted. I did NOT see that turn coming. I was gripping my Kindle so hard I thought the screen might crack.
⚠️ ONE SMALL NOTE As always, please check the trigger warnings before diving in. Take care of yourselves. 🖤
📚 READ THIS IF YOU LOVE… Sapphic vampires, healing from trauma, possessive “touch her and die” energy, brat/tamer dynamics, emotional vulnerability wrapped in teeth and tension, and love stories that say: you are perfect exactly as you are.
Sun-Kissed Fangs completely swept me away. I came for the sapphic vampire romance, but I stayed for the emotional depth, the character growth, action pack plot and a love story that felt both fierce and incredibly tender.
Maya is the kind of character who breaks your heart before she ever steals it. As the world's only day-walking vampire, she’s a mystery to most and feared for her presumed viciousness. After learning her back story, you learn that she's spent so much of her life feeling like an outsider. So watching her slowly learn she deserves to live freely as she is, and that includes being free from her hatred of herself was one of my favorite parts of the book. Harper balances her perfectly—strong, stubborn, compassionate, and unwilling to let Maya hide behind her walls forever.
Harper was just as compelling to me as Maya. Beneath her confidence, sarcasm, and quick wit is someone carrying years of hurt and disappointment. She keeps most people at arm’s length, with the exception of the family she’s built with Patricia, Nell, Evie, and Lucas, and it’s easy to understand why. What I loved most about her journey was watching her realize that strength doesn’t have to mean facing everything alone, and that vulnerability isn’t a weakness. Her growth feels authentic and deeply emotional as she learns to let people in, accept support, and believe she deserves the same care she so freely gives to others. Seeing her walls slowly come down around Maya gave us some of the sweetest, most heartfelt moments in the book, and it made their connection feel all the more rewarding. Honestly, Harper had my whole heart from the beginning but I loved her even more at the end.
The romance itself was everything I wanted. The chemistry between Maya and Harper is electric from the start, but it never overshadows the emotional foundation of their relationship. Every flirtatious exchange, vulnerable conversation, and protective gesture deepens their connection, making the payoff feel completely earned. Their relationship is packed with yearning, devotion, and the kind of emotional intimacy that makes you root for them from beginning to end.
And yes—the spice delivers as always. The intimate scenes are plentiful, explicit, and incredibly well-written, but what I appreciated most was how they enhanced the characters' emotional journey rather than feeling included for the sake of being included. The chemistry between Maya and Harper practically leaps off the page, and the spicy moments feel like a natural extension of the trust, vulnerability, and affection they've built. If you enjoy your paranormal romances with a healthy dose of heat alongside the heart, Sun-Kissed Fangs definitely delivers.
Rawnie Sabor also does a wonderful job blending supernatural elements with themes of healing, found family, and self-acceptance. Even with the danger, action, and plenty of steam, the heart of the story remains the connection between two people learning how to be vulnerable with each other.
If you're looking for a paranormal romance with protective vampires, emotional stakes, meaningful character development, and a sapphic love story that feels genuinely earned, Sun-Kissed Fangs is absolutely worth picking up. It left me with that rare book hangover where I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the characters when the final page arrived.
A captivating, heartfelt, and wonderfully spicy romance that proves even the most fearsome creatures deserve a chance at love.
i genuinely don't know what rawnie sabor put into this series but i need her to stop being so good at writing because i am becoming emotionally attached to every single character she introduces ITS INSAAAAANE GUYS THE POWER SHE HOOOOOLDS 😭😭😭
maya and harper completely stole my heart.
maya????? hello????? the world's only day-walking vampire??? (need her ai bad) 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 terrifying, powerful, gorgeous, and somehow also had me wanting to wrap her in a blanket and tell her everything is going to be okay????😭😭😭😭 i spent half this book admiring her and the other half being stressed out on her behalf. BUT IN A GOOD WAY I LOVE HER 🤭🤭🤭🤭
and harper??? i LOVE her. she's funny, stubborn, snarky, and has this "i'll deal with it myself" attitude while her entire life is basically on fire shes lowkey chaos and attitude as person. 😭😭😭😭 every scene with her felt so natural and entertaining. together they were absolute perfection. the chemistry was chemistry-ing. the tension was tension-ing. the protective instincts were protecting. and i was kicking my feet like an idiot every time they were on page together GUYS WOWIWIWOWOW 😭😭😭😭😭
one thing i absolutely adore about this series is how alive the world feels. I CAN ONLY REPEAT THIS EVERYTIME BECAUSE REAAAAALLY WOWWWW 🫠🫠🫠🫠 every character has their own personality, every relationship matters, and the found family elements continue to be some of my favorite i've ever read. I LOVE ALL OF THEM 😭😭😭😭 i don't just care about the main couple. i care about EVERYONE.
rawnie sabor somehow manages to balance humor, romance, trauma, healing, danger, chaos, and spice without any of it feeling out of place. i laughed, i stressed, i smiled like a fool, and i finished the book wanting approximately 700 more pages. also can we talk about how good this author is at writing women???? guys everyone needs woman written by rawnie sabor >>>>>> 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️ because wow. every woman in this series feels distinct, memorable, and incredibly real.
i'm officially at the point where i see a new book in this series and immediately know i'm about to have a good time. anyway. obsessed. no further comments. actually many further comments........ 😭😭😭😭😭😭🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Gosh, I love this book so much. This might now be my second favorite book in the series, next to Kiss of Seduction—since I'm a bit bias and I love Evie and Natalya so much.
I love everything about this book. It wasn't just about the main couple—tho I love the both of them and how 'sappy' Maya is, as per Harper—I love the found family aspect of this, the fact that three of them, before the reunion, is a full package—they really are a family, and I like what Maya said about Harper's chosen family. And the side characters, I adore them so much, especially Nell—I really hope she got to have her own book and have her HEA that she very much deserve.... and I'm still keeping an eye for the Club Lotus project, I have a strong feeling, Nell would have her spotlight soon enough. And Evie and Natalya!! I couldn't stress enough how much I love these two, and how happy I am to see them again here—especially to witness Evie finally be with her chosen family again—and the scenes were we get to see them together, or a scene of one of them obviously thinking about the other. Though I kinda hoped that Evie would introduce at least Lilly—since Blake is busy in the outpost—with her family, and kinda disappointed they didn't even get mentioned. I also love the interaction between Harper and Angela—gosh, I miss Angela—and to see her as Maya's friend again. This is actually what I love about interconnected series: the cameos of the previous and favorite characters, and their interaction with each other.
What I also love about this book is how it deals with some serious topics, and how it shows us a new perspective that some might not considered as a possibility.
It was one of those books that was so good, you don't wanna put it down—and Rawnie Sabor have a lot of that kind of books. I literally have to make myself pause reading, as it was already 3 am and I haven't put the book down since I picked it up in stark daylight—and that happened twice, before I finished it in the third day..... and, honestly? I don't want this book to end yet—so I guess I don't have a choice but to wait for the audiobook release and experience it for the first time again.
An—erm, late....—honest review in exchange of an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

coming off a masterpiece that is green-eyed devil, it feels like rawnie sabor has set the bar way too high for any book coming out of the court of chains series. don't get me wrong, this book is still chef's kiss. maya and harper have chemistry that works, and their internal conflicts make sense—they feel real and justified.
roisin frost is HOT, and i can't wait to learn more about her story. i felt very happy and relieved for nell, patricia, and luca—they 100% deserve this kind of break.
but but but evie is soooo annoying, my god. i can't believe how prejudiced she can be! she just won't listen to anyone—not natalya (the love of her life), and not even harper (her sister from another mother). she clings to her own preconceived notions and only believes what she sees with her own two eyes (a flat-earther in the making?). the way she got off so easily was disappointing to me because i really wanted her to eat crowa whole murder of them, even.
the suspense leading up to the climax was gripping enough, but some things niggled at the back of my mind, and i can't seem to shrug them off. i'm not saying these things ruined the book for me, but they definitely lived rent-free in my head after i finished:
first of all, the moment evie and harper got abducted and evie saw that nell had been left behind and apparently shot, shouldn't she have been scared enough for natalya to pop in right then and there? not even when harper was taken away and booker was taunting and circling evie did natalya come in to rescue her "darling."
second, where the fuck was aleksander and his goons? shouldn't they have gone back to the outpost after kieran's pack retreated?
third, a day before the attack, angela and eden were hanging around the outpost. where were they during the attack?
even after the conclusion of the final attack, i was still hoping for an explanation. sadly, everything was just pushed to the sidelines. maybe i simply misread a few lines or scenes, so if anyone can enlighten me and has answers, i'd be very open and grateful.
rawnie gave me everything except the one thing i was irrationally hoping for—a vex cameo. i kept turning pages convinced vex was just one chapter away, but alas, nada, so here we are.
Rawnie Sabor has done it again! Could not put this one down, I don’t know what it is about these books but I have yet to find one that takes me more than 2 days to finish.
Action starts right off the bat and chemistry off the charts by chapter 2, just pulls you in and gets you settled while you read the rest of the book. I appreciated the build up between Maya and Harper, really fleshed out and the character development they both go through is refreshing to read. I’ve been swinging out with books for a bit and it’s been draining to read one through and not be satisfied so thank you to Rawnie for giving me a much needed reset. The plot is a good one, while the stakes aren’t as high in this one (supernatural villain’s a newbie) it is well known and a lot of the times a catastrophic experience for people. Harper going through the realization and understanding that her previous relationship was not what she was led to believe was written really well. Nothing prepares you for finding out a person you trusted turned out to be a conniving fraud. The theme of trust is throughout the book and the MCs take their time building it between them. Felt natural and healthy.
It’s also really nice to get to dive into Evie’s backstory and found family, how much they’ve suffered in the absence of her and how relatable Harper, Nell and Trish are. Maya is my favourite out of everyone in this book. She’s been through a lot and instead of being a dick to everyone around her, she’s just trying to survive (until Harper) and go unnoticed lol (day-walker say what) . She’s a great character and her connection to Evie was brilliantly done, adds layers to the story and their relationship to Harper. She’s the perfect partner for Harper and they balance each other wonderfully.
Lastly, reading this one made me want to dive back into the other Court of Chains books! I missed my other Sins and I’ve already read through them multiple times before but I always find something new to appreciate. Again, props to Sabor for writing something so intricate.
Thank you to Rawnie for the opportunity to read this ARC.
