All stories have their beginning. In this tale, we see the Ultramarines first encounter with the Tau. As the elite warriors of both empires clash, the differences between them become apparent.

Phil Kelly (born 1977) is the Creative Lead for 'Warhammer: Age of Sigmar' in the Games Workshop design studio.

He has written over 60 gaming books in the last twenty years.

He has also written several Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar and Warhammer Horror books and audio dramas for Black Library.

A solid thesis statement for the differences between the Ultramarine and Tau factions. Maybe needed a little more Tau motivation.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, Black Library gave to us...a Space Marine Battles audio short by Phil Kelly. Brethren looks back to an early conflict between the Imperium and the Tau Empire and offers a comparison of sorts between the two. As the Ultramarines descend upon the world of Vespertine and battle the tau, sergeants Numitor and Sicarius lead their assault squads in vicious close-quarters fighting against the disciplined and technologically advanced xenos.

But GOD DAMN can Phil Kelly write scripts!
The sound effects were phenomenal, but man the Ultramarines first meeting of the Tau, and vise versa, was awesome. The similarities are great, and the doubt that they could put into an Ultramarine was wonderful.
My only qualm was that it was far too short. More please, Mr. Kelly!
