After a volume spent circling one another and not quite getting there, Yuzu and Minami are back to spend the last volume of the series… doing the exact same thing. Now with waiting for the confession.
Legitimately, that’s all it is. They bury their emotions at various times, Minami decides she finally has to say something after Yuzu appears to completely reject her affections because Yuzu has the wrong right idea, the end.
It’s fluff, but fluff that does lap itself a couple times. I don’t think this wastes the reader’s time, but I am not exactly putting it on my go-to list of yuri recommendations at the same time.
I was pleased to see the presence of boys, always welcome, and that they factored into the story for all of six seconds. Sometimes I like yuri paradise, sometimes I like some verisimilitude.
The friend group is mostly just there to cheerlead the whole thing, although in a way they don’t actually accomplish anything since the only reason things actually go anywhere is because Minami steps up.
Tsubasa remains the series’ unsung hero and I wish she had been given so much more to do. She’s a scene-stealer of the highest order and always has been.
Is it the next big thing? No, no it isn’t. Wasn’t. Whatever. I had a good enough time and the third volume in particular had a great reversal of perspective, even if it then proceeded to do precious little with that for two more volumes.
3 stars - enjoy it for what it is, basically, and don’t expect much more than that. Worthwhile, but it doesn’t distinguish itself from many similar series.
