Dylan steers clear of vanilla girls, preferring to find his play partners in the BDSM scene. But something about Zoë Stamos whispers to the Dom inside him. As they work together on a complex multi-million dollar investment deal, it is all too easy to imagine her naked and bound, skin glistening with sweat, her hair wild about her face. He can almost hear her breathy cries as he cracks a whip behind her, letting its sharp tip flick over her skin… When a key investor pulls out of a deal Zoë hoped would make her career, Dylan Hart offers to step in and cover the six million dollar shortfall, but his terms are like nothing she’s ever heard before. “You will spend the next forty-eight hours as my sexual slave. You will be confined to my basement dungeon, and you will be subject to my every sensual whim and erotic torture.” Zoë, who has a secret cache of dark, edgy erotic romances in her library, never dreams she’d be offered the chance to step right into the pages of one. Fantasy is one thing, real life erotic submission is quite another! But Dylan is waiting for her answer, his self-assured arrogance and intense sexual allure nearly too much for Zoë to handle. Her heart is hammering in her chest, and it’s hard to catch her breath. “So,” he says, “do we have a deal?”

Wow, what a surprise this book turned out to be. Brokered Submission was a little tame compared to Thompson's usual dark works. There were no non-consensual scenes, no crazy obsessed guy, no abduction whatsoever. But the strong elements of BDSM and actual slavery were still present. I was literally caught off guard by that ending, considering that this author isn't one who would normally give HEAs to her main characters. While I love extreme non-con and mind-fuckery in Claire Thompson's books, I have to say that this side of Claire really pleased me. The writing was great, as usual. And excellent dialogues were thrown between the two MCs.
Those who love D/s relationships in books will enjoy this one.
D/s kinky romance lovers will enjoy Brokered Submission. Zoë is a smart business analyst who wants to broker a deal to show her business savviness to her boss. When a deal is jeopardized due to lack of funds, her reputation is on the line. Her knight in shining armor is not as she expected. He's a slick business man with unconventional methods of making deals. In addition, the strings he attaches to the funding money may be too steep for her to pay. Dylan is a jaded dominant. Rich and bored, he decides to break his own rule, taking a vanilla girl and tying her up for his pleasure.
This BDSM story is pure romance delight. For female readers who fantasize about a more powerful man to sweep them off their feet and out of boring missionary sex, this story will meet those kinky desires. Ms. Thompson pens a sweet romance with the right amount of rich male dominance and stubborn submissive. The D/s in this story is sweet. The SM part is erotic and arousing. It's just the right ratio of a "seen it all" dominant and a "wide-eyed newbie" submissive. At one point, even Dylan's friend Louis points out the fascination for Zoë and how their group is experiencing kinky ennui.
“New sub infatuation,” Louis said knowingly. “Based on past experience, I predict you’ll be over her by the end of the week.” (pg. 81)
This is a Ms. Thompson story so a reader can expect a smexy romance with a tasty side of kink. The characters are easily relatable. The world building is set in a contemporary to make it easier for kinky readers to vicarious live through Zoë's whirlwind affair. The story will be quickly consumed with a reader wanting more. This Gateway to BDSM story is recommended to romance lovers who enjoy kinky erotica.

Something about Zoe calls to Dylan, more specifically, to the Dom in him. Which is odd, since he usually avoids vanilla girls. When a deal Zoe is working on loses a major investor, he offers her, and himself a way to explore this attraction. It does come with a hefty $6 million price tag though!
**SIGHS**
I think I'm becoming desensitised (is that a word??) to this sort of book. Maybe I've just one too many millionare Dom with dungeon in their basements, and vanilla girls who want to explore the BDSM scene, or rather, suddenly become interested in it.
Its just another one of those, I'm afraid.
It is well written, from both Zoe and Dylan's POV, it mves along at a fair and even pace. I didn't spot any editing or spelling erros.
In a mood to read Claire Thompson, I recently bought two of her books and read them back to back. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not as enamored of her "sweet" BDSM as her harsher variety. This story brings up several interesting issues while telling the often told story of a woman new to BDSM being trained by a far more experienced dominant man.
Dylan offers to save an investment deal that Zoe has worked hard for in exchange for her complete submission to being trained as his sexual slave for 48 hours. Although it is manipulative of Dylan to exact such a price for his investment, the entire situation is consensual. Unfortunately, despite the interesting premise, the story itself falls a bit flat. Some of the dialog is just too cheesy, which invariably pulls me out of the story.
Still, Brokered Submission is an enjoyable, fast read when you're in the mood for a well written contemporary BDSM romance - on the light side.
What was a promising set up turned very creepy very quickly. We meet the principals after they’ve concluded a financial deal. The hero takes the heroine’s reaction to his proposal that she’s a submissive. Basically her nipples get hard. All her other reactions could equally indicate an AYFKM reaction. But when another deal starts to fall apart, he offers to buy her for 48 hours for $6 million. He’s a bit rapey in his thinking before this point, so this wasn’t surprising.
It was surprising when he had her strip in his garage. And when he dead bolted her into his basement dungeon. And then left her there. I thought to myself, the only thing missing from this psychopath’s torture chamber are the cameras. Oops, got ahead of myself because yep, he had closed circuit cameras.
There’s no talk of safe words until the next morning, nobody knows where she is. Do not try this at home. Anyone else think it’s a neat trick that these sociopath billionaires with basement dungeons never make these creeper offers when the gal’s having her period?
When he finally admits: ““By the same token, no woman he’d worked with before had signed on for training in exchange for investment money, without any real indication they were submissive.”” I was on the verge of DNF.
She kept having to remind herself of the money. Prostitutes probably do that.
It’s drawer, not draw.
At the end of chapter 6, she thinks: “...the business deal she’d been working so hard to put together, and with which she’d been consumed for several months, hadn’t even entered her mind since Dylan’s proposal the night before.” Not true at all. She thought about the money several times and even tells him that’s the only reason she’s there at one point.
I’ve never read a book before where the hero watches the heroine pee and then says “I want you.” So that’s a first.
There’s a shift in the second half when he finally tells her he already transferred the money. But seriously at this point in the power exchange he has so much control it little matters.
“Take my offering.” Omg, so glad I wasn’t drinking. That’s hilarious.
Wonder what the health department would say about people being served food by thong-wearing servers? That’s a lot of potential butt scratching and thong adjusting. Just saying.
Did not like how hero gave her permission to scene with someone else when he went off on a business trip. Even as a device for the next part it was very blasé. Especially didn’t like how the abuser didn’t get fought up on charges. People like that who are allowed got walk WILL do it again.
The last chapter is outstanding. But not enough. It felt up to that point that it was all about him and his needs. So this was problematic at best.

This story describes how Dylan provides Zoë, an interested newbie, a crash course D/s introduction. The story starts of with a business negotiation setting followed by a weekend where Zoë acts as his submissive. It would have been nice if the author then had spent some time on the following work-week, where Zoë would have to answer questions about her date with Dylan and the contrast between her job and her newly found submissive side might have been explored. But the story is limited to the budding relation between Zoë and Dylan. Still, the ride to a HEA D/s relation is not quite smooth, as Zoë gets abused by another Dom, who disregards all her safewords. No charges are filed, but Zoë gets back on her feet with some encouragement by fellow subs and even "gets back in the saddle" to enjoy a caning by Dylan. Only three stars because the D/s relation between Zoë and Dylan is described more as a challenge, where pain must be accepted to show her love for him, than as a relation where Zoë is encouraged to express and enjoy herself.
At first, I wasn’t sure I would like this story. BDSM is supposed to be consensual. A sub agreeing to this type of relationship even for 48 hours for the reasons Zoe did, was just not acceptable. But then the story continued and the intent changed. I actually ended up enjoy this story. The story is so well written you just can’t help being pulled into their story. Ms. Thompson is a storyteller of the highest echelon.
Thoroughly enjoyable. The relationship between Zoe and Dylan, although rushed due to book needs, nevertheless feels real. The quick switch from weekend bargain to budding and then full-blown relationship is believable. The club experience is definitely hot and sexy.
Another awesome book by Claire Thompson! A beautiful love story with plenty of BDSM sexy scenes while a strong love develops. Amazing chemistry between the characters will have you sighing as you read.
4.5 Woww this was Truly amazing, fantabulous.. Loved all of it!!! I surely would've given this a five star had it been a full length novel and not just a short novella.
It gave everything I could've possibly needed. Heck, it gave a BDSM romance novel that also slightly cutesy..
Another good book by Claire, I have enjoyed each of the series so far, they are very well written and Zoe and Dylan are good together. Would recommended this book.
Endangering the sub wasn’t cool. Who shares someone soo early in a relationship. Dom needs to be more possessive. Good stern communication style, though.
Formed on an outrageous proposal, Brokered Submission is a truly wild fantasy conceptualized by Claire Thompson. What could happen when two almost strangers get into a D/s relationship?
Dylan and Zoe have met over business dealings and it's never progressed beyond professional meetings and corporate deals. Yet Dylan feels a pull within Zoe, something she's never voiced to herself, much more to him. She may be a born submissive, but with virtually no real exposure to the BDSM scene, it's not really a concept she'd been able to explore.
He just happens to overhear a conversation between her and a probable investor fall through, regarding a deal that could make or break her career. With millions at stake, Zoe agrees to a proposal of a lifetime on more than one level. Dylan will fund her investment deal in return for a weekend as his submissive. That she's attracted to Dylan is beyond any doubt, but could the attraction turn into something more, into a relationship that will push her over any boundaries she has?
While this is a truly erotic, sexily dark story, it is strangely informative at the same time. Sex happens, a ton of it, yet the reasoning behind the lifestyle is explained in a very clear and non-lecturing way. While by no means complete, a light overview of the scenes and logic that drives them can be found within these pages.
Zoe is a perfect platform for a submissive newbie, being confident in herself enough to try completely new things and ask questions about stuff she doesn't understand like public scenes or needle play. Through her it becomes perfectly clear that it takes a strong-minded person to be able to submit completely to another person.
Dylan (for me) is a perfect Dom. There is not one selfish bone in him; everything he does is for Zoe. All her care, nurturing, passion, and pleasure lie with him and his pleasure cannot be complete until hers is. It's a beautifully erotic symbiotic relationship that forges a deep and lasting link between Dom and sub.
Do they get together? Of course they do, but it's their joint journey of discovery that makes Brokered Submission a story more poignant than sexy, in my opinion. And that's a truly great thing. Claire Thompson put humanity in a subject that quite a few people would consider triple-x porn and I am in awe.
The opening of this book presents two people who had worked on a project for a while, for work, and began to become attracted to one another. Zoe receives some dishearten information and Dylan, who is a Dom, notices her emotional distress he takes charge in fixing her problem. Like all good Dom’s and “Brokers” a deal with her. He commission (I am using all business terms) Zoe into…submission.
Now the author does give the reader several indicators that he already sees the submissive within her. So his idea is plausible.
The book had me completely jacked up when the male lead placed her in his ideal submissive living conditions. I had to put the book down. I was just not able to functionally go along with this.
There was a scene (in the Club) that was difficult for me though I think that Zoe did well and held her own (mentally) and that was powerful.
The sex was so-so for me. It was not the normal BDSM hot and filthy sex that I often read. I looked at this book, being BDSM involved and this in my mind. The idea of the book was slightly similar to other books but not completely and that is why I was so excited fro this book. The book just did not hold on to me in all chapters. I will say that I did like how they evolved into each other, the quick love, not something I really enjoy but it is what is in most books. Their love was sweet and it looked like it was needed by both of them.
I would like to say that I could give this book the 4 stars rating that I saw other people give. The answer is no. I can’t. It just wasn’t a read I liked.
Zoe Stamos is looking to broker her first multi-million dollar investment only for one of the investors to fall though. Dylan agrees to fill the spot if she spends the weekend with him. Zoe seems to like to take risks so she is willing to give this a try.
Dylan Hart is a Dom who while working with Zoe also trains submissive. He sees something below the surface and when he gets an opportunity, he jumps on it. Dylan enters in to this arraignment not expecting his heart ot be on the line.
The connection between Dylan and Zoe is intense. It was easy to see that Dylan cared for Zoe but Zoe’s feelings were very discombobulated. She entered this arraignment with a clear understanding that it was all physical to achieve a goal only to have her heart enter in. The sex scenes were very hot and intense. Dylan pushed Zoe right from the beginning. Almost too fast. The one thing I don’t get his how easy he is with letting others play with Zoe.
I found this book well written with a unique plot. I enjoyed the darker erotica even though it pushed me out of my comfort zone. The pace of the book is very fast almost too fast. The main characters and the secondary characters were mesmerizing and very lifelike. While the ending was a little predictable, the journey the book takes the reader is filled with twists and turns that was also a bit predictable. Overall, this was a very captivating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.
I was surprisingly underwhelmed by "Brokered Submission."
Zoe and Dylan are business acquaintances, but somehow things heat up quickly at a dinner meeting, and soon Dylan's popping the question: "How do you feel about the concept of erotic submission?" Wow...!
Zoe's intrigued, but reluctant to get involved...until she needs Dylan's help to close a deal -- they make a bargain: he helps with the deal, and in return she'll be his erotic slave for a weekend. During their weekend Dylan and Zoe explore each other's kink, and Zoe's surprised to find how much Dylan understands her, and Dylan is amazed by Zoe's ability to comply with his demands. As their affair continues past the weekend, Zoe and Dylan grow closer and soon they're scening in public at Dylan's club, The Vault. Eventually, their relationship grows past D/s to love, and to HEA.
It's not a bad BDSM story, and both Zoe and Dylan are typical H/h -- she's the wide-eyed novice that he guides to deeper self-awareness through erotic submission. She embraces the freedom offered by the lifestyle, and he falls hard for a women he thought he'd never find. And maybe that's my problem with the story -- it's all so predictable. There's not a lot of new ground being covered, and I feel like I've already read this story innumerable times.
So..2 stars for an OK story that I really wished I liked more.
I will never understand the selling yourself for money thing. No matter how much in need I am or how attractive the guy making the offer is. With that being said this book was steamy in all the cliché BDMS ways.
Chloe needs money for fund an investment start up and he benefactor has backed out. Dylan being the upstanding guy he is offers to help her if she becomes his Sub for the next two days. Of course the sparks fly all over the bar as they talk to each other and that makes agreeing to a 6 million dollar sex trade seem all that move enticing. Of course Chloe agrees because she wants her investment to pan out. And Dylan is happy to oblige her because he sees more in her than just two days of sex slavery but isn't quite ready to admit that to himself yet.
One thing I did love about this story was the two POV's. I love getting to see what both characters are thinking as things play out between them. altogether this story is well written and sexy as hell. if you are a lover of BDMS I would recommend this to you just for the kink factor.
When I am in the mood for something super dark I always turn to Claire Thompson. So I was super excited to see that she had a new release. Well Brokered Submission turned out to be pretty tame for Ms. Thompson's standards but I still enjoyed the book very much. It was a surprisingly informative book about the BDSM lifestyle and if you have ever had any questions or doubts about why someone would enjoy this lifestyle, then this book will help you understand. And if you thought that subs were weak, and had no control over the situation, then Brokered Submission will show you the error of your ways. Zoe is an intelligent, capable, strong woman who is certainly not weakened by her submission. Dylan is a loving and caring Dom who has only his sub's needs in mine. I really love both of these characters. The story flows easily and naturally. Another enjoyable read from Ms. Thompson.
Wow, Brokered Submission was a great read. The story sucked me in right from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. Zoe meets Dylan at a business meeting. He is a Dom. His is drawn to Zoe. Dylan is rich and sexy. He offers to help Zoe with funding a project. She agrees to 48 hours as his BDSM slave. Zoe will be confined in Dylan's basement dungeon. I was a little scared for Zoe. When they get to Dylan's dungeon, it's set up is a little scary. He has a cage in it for punishment. Dylan doesn't mess around when it comes to his BDSM lifestyle.
I loved both Dylan and Zoe;s characters. I was a little worried about Dylan's character at first but I grew to love him as the story went on. He took the time to explain things to Zoe. Zoe and Dylan seemed great together. I loved the ending.
*An ARC copy was provided in exchange for an honest review*
Quite the steamy situation that has brought Zoë & Dylan together. I found this reads hot while a bit dark & not a typical story of a man & a woman coming together. I didn't mind the dark erotica by any means but found that I felt like I jumped into a story and it was already going when I came aboard. I was hoping for a bit more in the aspect of how they came together but alas that was not the case. Aside from that, a very good read.
One thing that stands out is how as a reader you are taken into Dylan and Zoe's story and are able to follow along as they discover their new relationship. We are learning along with them and that makes us care about what happens to them. The characters are developed and the story moves along to keep interest in what is going to happen next. Just like Zoe, you may have certain beliefs about the subject matter that will change as you read.
This is a fabulous hot and steamy story. Based in the bdsm scene we read about Dylan and Zoe's story. There are so many books out there with bdsm in it. When your a reviewer you look out for the author putting their own twist on the story and this is what Claire did with this story. She put her own uniqueness into the story. I really loved Zoe's thoughts of the situations she was in. It brought the real aspect to the story. Great read that kept me up way too late at night:)
This is the first book I have read by this author and I liked it. It took me a while to get into it but I enjoyed it once I did. I loved reading from both Zoe and Dylan’s POV as it gave me a good insight into what they were thinking. Zoe and Dylan seemed to be very compatible as a Dom/Sub despite Zoe being new it. I loved the steamy scenes, overall it was a great read.
Okay... Maybe I shouldn't have taken this book. I totally knew what I was going into. And I was ready to read it. And everything was actually going right....But.... I stopped when the guy says to the girl to just remove all the clothing in the garage. And that she should be naked from here on. Sorry but this was just no for me. He could have waited for them to go up. I mean I have read bdsm books which I like. And this one I didn't like at all.

3.5 stars. I really liked the first half, although I felt it was rushed. The story completely changed about half way through and there was less emphasis on the training and more on the relationship. I guess that's nice in a way but it felt a little like two seperate books.
