A beautifully messy, heart-pulling read
Until January by Ginger Walls absolutely surprised me in the best way. It’s one of those stories that looks simple on the surface, then slowly grabs you by the feelings and refuses to let go. Wells writes with a softness that still hits hard, the characters feel real, flawed, and easy to root for.
What stood out most was how natural the characters’ growth and connection felt. Their emotions were believable, their choices made sense, and the story never tried too hard to be dramatic. Everything unfolded in a way that felt grounded and real.
The spice is on point, that truck scene? Hot!! *waves hand at face.
And as an Aussie, the idea of being snowed in is something I’ll probably never experience, but it has quickly become one of my favourite tropes.
If you’re like me and don’t have a “traditional” Christmas, Bridget’s non-traditional celebrations were genuinely comforting. It’s something you don’t often see in Christmas romances, and I wish more stories explored it.
When I picked this book up, my family and I had just been hit with a sudden loss. Grief took hold of my heart and mind while I tried to carve out moments to fill my bucket again. My thoughts wouldn’t stop turning, but slowly, with every word, sentence, paragraph, and chapter, Until January became my safe place. My escape.
Tears escaped, and my heart ached, but the journey was worth it.
If you love contemporary romance with depth, ache, and a satisfying ending, Until January delivers. Ginger Walls has definitely made my “auto-buy” list after this.
