She fell for the hero… but between the investigation, interruptions, and intimidation, they almost ended before they had a chance to truly begin.
Legal Aid attorney Sandra O'Neill thought she was just helping contractors understand their billing agreements. But when she discovers a pattern that points to massive money laundering, her quiet life on Virginia's Eastern Shore explodes into chaos.
Eastern Shore DTF Captain Terry Bunswick has spent years building a safe haven for his two children after his ex-wife chose career over family. The last thing he needs is to fall for the sexy, brilliant, determined lawyer who's stumbled into the middle of his drug task force's case. But Sandra's courage and the way she lights up around his kids make it impossible to keep his distance.
As Sandra digs deeper into the construction empire, the threats escalate with each new discovery. With cartel money flowing through luxury home contracts, Sandra becomes a target before Terry and his detectives can find the evidence they need.
But when she protects his children, he knows that she’s the hero he’s fallen for.
A gripping romantic suspense that proves sometimes the greatest risk is opening your heart.
A Baytown Boys sub-series. The Virginia Marine Police and the North Heron Sheriff’s Department - Keeping the county and waterways of the Eastern Shore of Virginia safe, follow along as they find love. Small town romantic suspense
As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
Falling for the Hero is Baytown Heroes book 13. Drug task force chief, single dad Terry Bunswick and legal aid attorney Sandra O’Neill connect and fall for each other almost immediately but so many road blocks get thrown in their way. I loved this story with the danger and mystery that seemed to keep trying to overwhelm Terry and Sandra. But they found ways to overcome the obstacles and build on their intense chemistry. -5 Stars!-
Terry Brunswick is a perfect Baytown Hero, after serving his country he settled down on the Eastern Shore as a Captain on the Drug Task Force raising his two delightful children as a single dad. Attorney Sandra O’Neill quit the cut throat legal world of big city law firms to find way more fulfilment working as a legal aid attorney on the Eastern Shore. When they meet the attraction is instant mutual and both fall hard wanting to explore their connection but Terry’s children are his world and he wants to be certain their relationship is going to work before introductions are made and Sandra is completely on board with this. They have a hiccup when the early return home of the kids leads Terry to not his best moment but the emerging relationship survives and when they finally meet Terry’s kids embrace the straightforward, level headed and extremely likeable woman that Sandra is. Of course this is romantic suspense, which Maryann Jordan does so superbly, so throw in mysterious high end drugs found at a student party, overly complicated contractor contracts, possible money laundering, cartel connections and Terry finds the DTF current investigation overlaps with Sandra’s determination to investigate irregularities involving her clients which put her firmly in the crosshairs. She singleminded persistence puts her and and the children in a life threatening situation with Terry desperate to reach them in time. It’s a slow build romance, not by design but by what circumstances force it to be, their lives are busy and complicated but Sandra and Terry know what they are building towards and have the patience to get there. Sandra is an awesome character, an independent hard working woman without pretence, she embraces Terry’s kids who thrive under her straightforward care. Heartfelt story by, favourite author totally recommend you add this new Baytown Heroes story to your library.
Captain Terry Bunswick with the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force is attracted to Sandra O’Neill, a local legal aide attorney, from the moment he sees her. The feeling is mutual. The relationship develops steadily, with both Sandra and Terry excited about exploring this new connection. But Terry is a single dad with a 12 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Their mother is involved but only one weekend a month. Terry wants to wait until he’s sure the relationship is on long-term solid footing before Sandra and they meet, which leads to a tense situation that nearly ends the relationship. As the relationship recovers, both Terry and Sandra become involved in investigating a scheme to launder money for a sophisticated drug cartel – an investigation that eventually puts a potentially deadly target on Sandra.
This is an excellent book. I read it in less than 12 hours after receiving it, which did involve reading too late on a work night! Jordan is an accomplished author, with a long track record of engaging stories and characters across multiple series. This is the 13th in the Heroes series based in Baytown and it fits right in. It is a warm and sweet romance with less relationship tension than Jordan often employs, and the intimacy level is maybe a 6/10. There are intimate scenes but the story does not dwell very long on the act itself. I typically prefer more tension and more spice, but Jordan is such an excellent writer than I was quickly engaged by Terry and Sandra and the landscape they were navigating. I highly recommend this novel, to both readers new to Jordan (it’s a great starting place) and those who know her well.
No one, absolutely no one writes a sweet, beautiful and heart rendering story like Maryann Jordan.
This beautiful story, like every single story that has come before it, will wrap you tightly into its mesmerising grasp as it transports you to a wonderful world where you see old friends and meet new ones. Where you get a front row seat to the magic of a love that you just know will stand the test of time.
Terry is a born alpha protector. Every fibre of his being is dedicated to helping and protecting people. Such an attractive quality that just leaves you breathless. You ca tell that protecting people is as wast for him as breathing.
I loved his love and dedication to his family. The relationship really comes through the pages of this story. It was so inspiring to see this big, strong protector show the calm and loving side of himself.
Sandra is an absolutely beautiful character. She’s strong and independent and prides herself on being an advocate for those who struggle to find their own voice. She’s an awe inspiring woman who embraced Emma and Toby with open arms and heart.
I loved the fact that despite her fear she pushed through and took her investigations as far as she could in order to protect those she knew needed it.
Watching Sandra and Terry traverse their path to a beautiful HEA was spellbinding and packed a powerful punch that left me breathless and yet begging for more.
Can’t recommend this addictive and spellbinding story highly enough. Maryann has once again written the perfect sweet romance, full of depth and a maelstrom of emotions that will leave you breathless.
We are back in Eastern Shores, the place where boys leave to serve their country and returned determined to keep their town and country safe. This time, the story belongs to Terry Bunswick. He’s a single dad and an Eastern Shores DTF captain. Terry’s kids are his entire existence. His ex was more concerned about a career than being a mom. So he tries to be both mom and dad to his adorable kids. Sandra O’Neill, is a Legal Aid attorney that is dedicated to her clients. When one comes to her concerned about his billing agreement, it leads her to believe money laundering is going on. Sandra takes it upon herself to investigate and contacts Captain Bunswick. Neither ever expected this inquiry would change their lives. As a sort of friendship and maybe more develops, so does the danger of money laundering and the discovery of high end drugs flowing through the town and county. Who is the mastermind of it all? Who is the supplier? Is it related to the money laundering? When the danger affects Sandra and the kids, will she be able to keep them safe? The story was engaging, with a strong female character and a strong, likable and flawed male character. This was another wonderful story in the series in which the hero wasn’t only the main male character, but also the main female character. I would like to add that one of the things I love about the stories by this talented author is that her stories are not about insta-love , but mature couples that get to know each other through an extended period of time. These characters are flawed, and real. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I love all things Baytown, so knowing this one is the final Baytown Heroes book is a little bittersweet, but Maryann Jordan certainly ended the series on a high note! Terry is an incredibly loving and dedicated single dad to Emma and Toby, who by all accounts are awesome kids. Despite having a high stress job dealing with the worst of humanity, his kids are his number one priority and focus. He has put himself and his own happiness on the back burner since his divorce to make sure he is everything they need. Then he meets Sandra. She is smart, compassionate, driven and beautiful, and he is drawn to her immediately. She feels the same way, and they begin the slow process of getting to know one another. I loved the way this part of the story was written. Terry was cautious and slow to bring Sandra into his kids’ lives. The meet cute between her and the kids in the grocery store was adorable. Sandra fit into their lives in a way Terry did not expect. As a stepmom myself, I appreciated how Sandra’s role in the kids’ lives was described and expanded throughout the story. But it is a romantic suspense book so we cannot forget the suspense part! Terry’s drug task force gets involved in an investigation after a major drug discovery that ends up overlapping with Sandra’s attempts to help one of her legal aid clients when she inadvertently stumbles upon a money laundering operation. The whole situation is much bigger than any of them realize, and danger comes after Sandra when the people responsible start trying to cover their tracks. Ultimately, the good guys win, of course!
I just finished reading my ARC copy of Falling For a Hero, book 13 in the Baytown Heroes series. The book is a wonderful, heartwarming small town, romantic suspense. Another book that highlights Maryann Jordan’s character development. Her characters are more than words on a page, there’s depth to them, they feel real. This book highlights Terry Brunswick, a Captain with the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force and Sandra O’Neill from Chesapeake Legal Aid. Terry is a single dad of two great kids, Emma is 12 and Toby is 11. Their paths cross when one of Sandra’s cases needs a statement from the police involved. There is an immediate connection. After an early bump in the road, their relationship slowly grows deeper. So many types of families out there and Tony and his ex-wife, Patricia, are no different. Their situation works for them and Sandra is woven in beautifully.
A local contractor brings an issue to Sandra’s attention with a local luxury home builder. Sandra starts investigating and brings her concerns to Terry. He has a serious drug case going on with possible cartel connections and he fears they maybe connected. Without giving anything away the plot thickens to a final show down. After you catch your breath, the author brings the story to a wonderful happy ending. I loved how we got a ten years later glimpse in the last chapter.
This is another wonderful read from Maryann Jordan, don’t miss it.
This is book thirteen in The Baytown Heroes series and it is Terry and Sandra’s story and of it is definitely a must read. Terry works for the eastern shore drug task force and worked hard to eradicate the drugs in the local areas he is also a single dad to his two children. Sandra works for the Chesapeake legal aid and when a drugs bust when down and a couple in their seventies was concerned for there son and then there landlord tried to evict them it is Sandra who is on the phone to Terry to see if he can help. When Terry and Sandra meet there is a instant attraction and strong chemistry but with him being a single dad it normally causes a problem but Sandra is willing to see where a relationship would go and when they kissed for the first time it was totally explosive between them but as usual there are many ups and downs and complications in any relationship and there’s was definitely thrown a big curve ball which they will have to deal with as soon as possible before it puts a distance between them. Danger is closer than they know but will they manage to survive and get the happiness and future that they both want and deserve and become a family. Wow the twists and turns keep coming along with action, suspense, drama, betrayal, hope, love and some difficult situations and I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and kept my attention throughout and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
Terry is the Captain in his division, a single father to two, Emma and Toby, who are his world. His ex is still in the picture and they have an understanding, he has full custody and the kids spend time with their mother when she is able…it works for their family dynamic. Sandra is a legal aid attorney, helping those who need it and a case has the two meeting for the first time…and their story begins. Stealing moments to meet and getting to know one another before Terry decides he wants to introduce Sandra to his children and not be a secret anymore. Circumstances one weekend derail his intentions and Terry knows he messed up. Luckily Sandra is a kind and forgiving woman and their relationship progresses as does her relationship with Emma and Toby. Another case has Sandra looking into fraud that happens to be related to Terry’s big drug bust and the bad guys are not happy with Sandra’s meddling and becomes a target…how far will Terry go to protect his family. Oh my what an AMAZING READ!!! I couldn’t get enough of these four, Terry, Sandra, Emma and Toby stole my heart and I didn’t want to stop reading about them. I LOVED how Terry owned up to any mistakes he made and how understanding and kind hearted Sandra was, especially to his kids. Descriptions were spot on, and the story flowed beautifully and I LOVED LOVED the extended epilogue that had a welcomed surprise and few misty eyed moments. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion
As a longtime fan of the Baytown Heroes, knowing this is the final book is definitely bittersweet, but Maryann Jordan truly saved one of the best for last!
Terry is the heart of this story—an incredibly dedicated single dad to Emma and Toby. I loved seeing a hero who, despite dealing with the "worst of humanity" in his high-stress job, keeps his kids as his absolute priority. He’s spent years putting his own happiness on the back burner, which made his connection with Sandra so rewarding to watch.
The pacing of their relationship felt so authentic. Terry was cautious and protective about bringing someone new into his children's lives, which I really respected. I was so impressed with how Maryann Jordan described and expanded Sandra’s role as she fit into not only Terry's life but also that of his children. It felt genuine and handled with great care. Don’t let the sweet family moments fool you—the suspense is top-tier! The crossover between Terry’s drug task force and Sandra’s legal aid case was seamless. When Sandra inadvertently stumbles onto a money-laundering operation, the stakes skyrocket. It’s a "bigger than they realized" situation that kept me turning pages late into the night.
If you love protective alphas, smart heroines, and a family-focused romance with a side of danger, don’t miss this one!
Falling For the Hero is the thirteenth book in the Baytown Heroes series by Maryann Jordan. If you're in the mood for a charming blend of small-town romance and suspense, then Baytown Heroes is the binge you’ve been looking for. Set along the beautiful waterways of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, this 12-book series follows the lives of the Virginia Marine Police and the North Heron Sheriff’s Department as they juggle crime-fighting, family, friendship, and love. Each book focuses on a different hero - whether it’s a single dad, a detective, or a long-time friend - finding love under stressful, often life-threatening circumstances. The characters are relatable, their chemistry believable, and despite being “heroes” they’re flawed enough to feel real. From high school crushes rekindled to second-chance romances and unexpected sparks, there’s a story for virtually every kind of (contemporary) romance fan. The series hits that perfect spot between romance and suspense. There are moments of tension and danger that kept me on edge, but they’re balanced with warmth, humor, and small-town charm. Ms. Jordan’s writing is quite engaging, making the books easy to devour. So, if you love swoon-worthy heroes, strong heroines, and a little edge-of-your-seat suspense, then the Baytown Heroes series is a seriously fun ride. Happy Reading…
Terry is a Captain with the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force. He is a divorced dad with two children Emma and Toby and feels as if his life is full. When he has a meeting with Sandra who is an attorney at Legal Aid he quickly starts to change his mind. Life is full of challenges and this story has it all. A potential romance, family challenges that include daily life events as well as trying to blend their relationship and a mystery surrounding a drug bust and cartel involvement and you get an outstanding story that you can’t put down. There is romance and blending of a family. There is intrigue as to how they both realize what is going on in their community and how their information overlaps. There is suspense when trouble catches up to those involved and they seek to silence Sandra not knowing two innocent children are with her. Will Terry get to them in time? Will they get their happy ever after? Maryann Jordan gives us another wonderful book that is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. 5+ stars. Received an ARC but also preordered as this author’s books are outstanding.
It saddens me that Falling for the Hero is the last book of the Baytown Heroes series. It's just so entertaining and enjoyable but I know that Maryann Jordan will write something new that will be equally impressive. Each and every main character in this series is someone I'd like to know and become friends with. Terry and Sandra certainly fit into that mold. Both are kind, friendly, motivated and dedicated to their professions and their community. From the moment Sandra walks ino his life Terry is captivated and every encounter afterward only adds to her allure. Much the same can be said for Sandra. Terry ticks all the boxes for her. They have to figure their relationship and how to incorporate his to children into it but ultimately it becomes a natural progression hat even includes his ex. They end up working on a case together but from different angles. Things get messy and dangerous but Sandra saves the day. I especially loved the epilogue as I always relish the insights into futures of these twosomes.
From the very start you fall deeply in love with the characters. Captain Terry is the police captain and a man who has always put his children Emma and Toby first. He is divorced and the ex Patrica is not the motherly type but does love the children. Sandra is a woman of heart a lawyer that defends the poor, smart and beautiful. When these two the attraction is instant but the relationship is taken slowly. Oh that first time together, let’s say I thought Sandra would make him suffer, but that is not her. I loved that the children were front and centre in both there life’s, not once did neither of them not considered Emma and Toby first. Family, loyalty and love all the way. When cases both are working on over lap and put Sandra and the children in danger, Terry and the team stop at nothing to save them. This book has action, drama, family, humour, spice and romance.
Terry and Sandra, and Emma and Toby WOW. We can't forget Patricia. At first I didn't care for Patricia she just seemed selfish but not everyone is cut out to be a day to day Mom. Don't get me wrong she loved her kids but she also loved her career. Whereas Sandra she was born to be a Mom. When meeting Terry at her office over a case she knew, she just knew. Terry and Sandra danced around their feelings and she appreciated that he let her know up front he was a single Dad. In a situation like that the dynamics could be complicated. I had to chuckle when Terry was being so careful about introducing Sandra to his kids to soon. But SURPRISE when they did meet her unexpectedly they clicked. Sandra took to Terry's kids like they were her own. I loved their story, I loved this read even though parts were pretty tense. But seriously I loved the ending with Emma OMG I just knew it. Good job Maryann good job.
I received an Advanced Reader copy for my honest review: This book defines what true "adults in the room" do to handle a new relationship with tween aged children involved. Terry is a great single dad raising his children Emma and Toby pretty much on his own because Patricia, his Ex is more career oriented than motherly. I applaud Sandra for stepping up as a career woman, GF and role model who showers attention on Toby and Emma. I liked the parallel child-rearing styles of Terry with this children and Mr. Blackwood, a self made man and his pampered ungrateful son, now an adult. The mystery was interesting, It was interesting to see all the agencies worked together to solve the crime and of course Sandra, a STRONG woman... my favorite kind. I did have trouble sympathizing with Patricia, I know she loves Toby and Emma but I still found her selfish. A great book addition to the series.
Eastern Shore DTF Captain Terry Bunswick is a single father who has spent the last several years putting all his time and effort into his kids and job. When Legal Aid attorney Sandra O'Neill catches his attention and vice versa, they wonder if maybe they can figure out dating. It's clear that balancing romance with their busy schedules is going to be a learning curve. I really enjoy that both of these characters are mature and while they are met with challenges, they actually talk things through. Terry's kids are such a great part of their story and made me laugh and smile. Sandra stumbles onto something helping a client that puts her in danger but luckily, she has people to confide in. This book had everything I've come to love in the Baytown series, good characters, suspense with healthy dose of life/romance! I highly recommend this book/series.
Sandra and Terry are acquainted, legal aid lawyer meets drug task force and former military, single dad with 2 great kids, small town gossip, single dad needs sitter, and we can forget the corruption, blackmails and drugs, this book has everything you can possibly want in a story, fast paced energy, high octane thrills and excitement, this is the epitome of a family, and Terry and Sandra will do whatever it takes to protect and nurture it, even beating the bad guys at their own game, checkmate crook's you are done, always exciting to see old friends from Baytown and to know they will have your six also, fabulous ending to the Baytown series and a segue into the next series, phenomenal story Maryann Jordan, I have voluntarily read and review this ARC, I thank you for the privilege, Dana Zamora
Terry is a single dad of two preteens and works with the drug task force. Sandra is a lawyer with legal aid. The meet while working the same case the involved a minor thing n the wrong place at the wrong time. As the continue to find reasons to talk to each other the bot realize that the want more than just a work relationship. As things progress, they end up working cases that are tied together with drugs, cartel, and money laundering. When Sandra and the kids are trying to get away from someone trying to run them off the road, Terry is torn between being in work mode or dad mode. When they are reunited and everyone is safe, both realize how much the others mean to them. Will there be any more attempts to silence Sandra? Will they make a good family?
This is a wonderful ending to this series. Maryann gives us a story of Terry, a single dad of two, who is attracted to Sandra, an attorney. What I appreciated was Maryann didn't make the ex wife a villain. We had two people who loved their children and worked at co parenting them. Terry and Sandra took their time getting to know each other before Sandra was introduced to the kids which made it even sweeter. Maryann gives us plenty of mystery, intrigue and action when Sandra discovers some nefarious things going on between a builder and her client and we get to see the other characters from previous Baytown Heroes books band together to solve the case. The last scene between Sandra and her stepdaughter Emma is a definite tear jerker showing that blended families do work. I highly recommend this book.
Returning once more to the shores of Chesapeake Bay where a group of dedicated law enforcement men and women keep their towns safe from harm. In this story, Captain Terry Brunswick and his cadre of detectives find themselves dealing with more than just local criminals and finds his blood running cold as his love Sandra and his beloved children are in the sights of the cartel.
As always Ms Jordan weaves a story of dedication to work with love of family incorporated into the theme. The research of how law enforcement works and how cases are solved shows dedication on the part of the author to not only tell a story but to make sure its factual.
Baytown is an amazReting town, hopefully many more books to follow. This is a wonderful not to miss story.
Maryann Jordan has a gift for writing wonderful stories where one or both main characters have children. And this book is no exception to that.
Eastern Shore DTF Captain Terry Brunswick has two pre-teenage children. Sandra O'Neill is a Legal Aid Lawyer on the Eastern Shore. The story revolves around building their family relationships. Adding children to a story gives it a new dynamic. The dialogue, the interactions, the challenges all make for enjoyable reading. Add in suspense and intrigue as both Terry and Sandra try to uncover a money laundering scheme while trying to protect the children, then you have a page turning book. And of course heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Who will be the hero in this book ?
I absolutely loved the latest book from Maryann Jordan. Falling for the hero takes us on the journey of Terry and Sandra's love story. Terry has the responsibility of not only a taxing job as a captain on the Drug Task Force but also as the single dad to his two children, Emma and Toby. Sandra works hard at the Chesapeake Legal advice centre, providing help for those desperately in need of legal advice. The development of their story is warm and compelling as the realise they both want forever and this needs Sandra to bond with the children too. The book is a great read with just enough suspense to offset the romance and keep the reader turning the pages. Can be read as a stand-alone. Congratulations Maryann on another fabulous book.
I absolutely loved reading Falling for the Hero . This is such a Sensational story . It's got Romance and suspense . It's very intriguing , the characters are wonderful . Eastern Shore DTF Captain Terry Bunswick finds himself attracted to Legal Aid attorney Sandra O'Neill When they find themselves involved in helping an older couple . As they decided to spend more and more time together Terry decides it's time for Sandra to meet his kids he's been raising since his ex - wife decided her career was more important than raising her children . When Sandra comes upon information of illegal activity linked to the drug task force investigation Terry is working on it puts her and the kids in danger . This story is outstanding . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
FALLING FOR THE HERO is the thirteenth in Maryann Jordan’s Baytown Heroes well-written romantic suspense series. Captain Terry Bunswick of the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force meets community lawyer Sandra O’Neill when she approaches him for assistance with a client case. They recognize a mutual attraction and give it space and time to develop, allowing for the constraints of Terry’s children and their demanding careers.
Maryann Jordan’s latest is another excellently crafted story that gives its characters room to reveal themselves and the threads that weave them together. Loved the balance of Terry and Sandra’s evolving connection as well as that of them as a family, including Terry’s beloved children. And the suspense was equally well executed. Couldn’t put this down.
Falling for the Hero is book 13 in the Baytown Heroes series by Maryann Jordan and what a way to end this series!
DTF Chief Terry, a single dad and Sandra an attorney at Legal Aid meet and the sparks fly but both are involved in an investigation about drugs and money laundering in their town. When they combined efforts to finally end this investigation things escalate and Sandra finds herself in even more danger and Terry will do whatever it takes to keep her and his kids safe..suspense, action, seeing old friends, chemistry and finding his and his family’s HEA! While this is the last book in this series you can rest assured Ms. Jordan more amazing books ahead!
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow! This story is about Terry and Sandra as well as Emma and Toby. This couple met while Sandra was working on a case of fraud. Terry decided that he wanted to see more of Sandra out of the office. They snuck around for a few weeks until the family ran into Sandra at the grocery store and, as they say, is history. It is amazing how the kids took to Sandra right away. The last few chapters were intense. It's amazing how Sandra saved the kids and we got to witness Emma falling for the guy who helped save her family. Thirteen years later, we get to witness Emma's happy ending. I'm sad we didn't get to witness Sandra and Terry's wedding. FANTASTIC job Maryann! I would recommend this book!
Terry and Sandra are easily the standout couple of this series, radiating warmth, sincerity, and genuine love. Their attraction is immediate yet beautifully sweet, with flirting and mishaps that feel refreshingly real and honest. I absolutely adored how the kids—and even the ex—were portrayed; the absence of bitterness or negativity within the family dynamics was both uplifting and heartwarming. The journey unfolds with a quiet suspense that lingers and looms, building to a nail-biting climax that had me on edge. And then the epilogue—pure emotion—it left me in tears. A beautifully told story that completely steals your heart.
We are back in Baytown for another exciting read of love, mystery, family and hope. Terry is a Captain for DTF and Sandra is a Legal Aide Attorney. When the two meet, the connection is instant. While Terry is busy working a drug force case, Sandra is uncovering a possible money laundering case and the two overlap. With Terry's two children and their new found family at stake, the two must navigate an investigation that could disrupt their peaceful moments.
Maryann always writes a compelling story that connects from the first page to the last. The mystery keeps you on edge while the love story has you cheering for a happily ever after. 5 Stars for Falling For the Hero!
I have read many Maryann Jordan stories and I must say this one is one of my all time favorites. This author has such a special way of developing relationships with characters that is believable and also gives you hope. Single dad falls for beautiful lawyer but prioritizes his kids. The ex is not the 1950’s version of motherhood and recognizes this. The author does such a fantastic job creating a relationship that works between all involved. The storyline is touching and Maryann Jordan delivers way beyond my expectations. I love the setting and I enjoy each and every character she has created.
This story is one of her finest and I look forward to her future adventures.
