When magic goes wrong, love might be the only spell that works right.

As a hedge witch, Calli Wynter’s perfectly organized life revolves around her cozy bookstore, the magical herbs she cultivates, and her carefully curated magical spells. But when Malcolm “Mac” Wellesley—a half-warlock playboy with spectacularly unpredictable powers and far too much sexual attraction —accidentally destroys her prized pumpkins for the Halloween festival, her quiet world and her magic explode into delicious chaos.

Mac’s been avoiding his powerful warlock family and their expectations ever since his magic proved more “otherworldy disaster” than “mystical mastery.” Being heir to a bloodline like his is impossible to deny, and complicated, when he's stuck in the quirky town of Moonstone Falls, trying to fix both Calli’s garden and get the sexy witch to give him a chance. What he doesn’t account for is Calli’s romantic heart and her patient wisdom tempting him to stop running altogether.

As autumn deepens and their attraction grows undeniable, Calli and Mac discover that their different magical styles create something beautiful when combined. But when Mac’s disapproving warlock father arrives demanding he fulfill his family duties, Mac must choose between the life planned for him and the magic he’s found with Calli.

Can a hedge witch and a half-warlock prove that the best magic happens when opposites attract? In Moonstone Falls, where every day feels like Halloween and love spells are strictly optional, Calli and Mac are about to discover that some enchantments are worth fighting for.

A steamy, cozy, paranormal romance full of magical mishaps, autumn vibes, and the kind of love that makes even the most stubborn spells work perfectly.

SPOILER!!!

I love a good fated lovers trope, and this one delivered.

Looking back, I feel like I should have connected Malcolm’s broom crash to Cali’s parents’ death sooner—but I actually loved that I didn’t. The reveal caught me off guard in the best way and made the payoff even stronger.

It gave me cozy, magical Halloweentown vibes—but make it grown-up. Overall, I really loved it.

Did you like the book?

= 4 stars - I really liked it! I'll probably remember stuff from it in the near future.

Spice level:

= 🌶🌶🌶 3 chili peppers: Romance with explicit sex scenes, but generally milder language.

PROS:

- Strangers to lovers

- Fated mates (witch-locked)

- Finding your true power

- Magic realism

- Hidden magical town

- Conflict without unbearable angst

- Personal growth of the characters

- Prophecies!

CONS:

The fact that people assigned blame to a person for what was an accident.

BASIC TAKEAWAY:

Malcom crashes (quite literally) into Calli's world. And from there, they are swept up into an all-consuming romance, unaware that there are forces to overcome that will try to keep them from happiness. This was a fast-paced, can't put down, kind of read and I enjoyed the ride! Also, don't let a prophecy rule your fate.

DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE BOOK WHEN NOT READING?

Yes

HOW SEVERE WAS THE ANGST?

When it happened, I was mildly uncomfortable but able to stomach it.

ANGST FOLLOW UP; WHAT STUCK OUT?

The fact that Malcolm took to heart when people blamed him as if he had made a conscious decision to cause harm, and was not just a victim of circumstance.

REREADABILITY

Would read again

IF PART OF A SERIES, WOULD YOU CONTINUE?

Yes

WHAT IS THE "STORY POINT"?

The point is to not let what someone says will happen determine how you live your life. You make the decision to live your way or to follow someone else's.

WHAT GENRES DOES IT FALL INTO?

Romance, Fantasy, Cozy

WAS THERE ANY PART THAT CONFUSED YOU?

- The hostility towards Calli by Serafina. Calli didn't seek Malcolm out, it was actually the opposite. And it was HER house lol

- The first time at the Black Cliffs and why the ghosts wanted Malcolm to jump. I still don't understand their motives.

DID I CARE ABOUT THE CHARACTERS?

Yes

COMPELLING PLOT?

Yes

BELIEVABLE DIALOGUE?

Yes

FAVORITE QUOTES:

- It felt like tectonic plates deep within her body and soul had shifted, and the effect was deep and irreversible. Calli, ch 2, pg 33

-"You can't fall in love with someone after just meeting them."

SHOULD THERE BE ANY TRIGGER WARNINGS?

Yes, parent deaths

AUTHOR'S VOICE

Conversational, Comedic

WHAT OTHER BOOKS ARE SIMILAR TO THIS ONE?

Books in the vein of "Go Hex Yourself" by Jessica Clare

WHO WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO?

Witchy rom-com lovers. Magic realism fans.

4⭐️ this was a really enjoyable cozy romance centered around witches, though there are other paranormal creatures featured in it. the setting is primarily a kitschy halloween town with plentiful magic integrated into every day life. this standalone features magical mishaps with gradually rising stakes until the end. the pacing is good, and the expositions are well-timed. i got through this one rather quickly–it was engaging and i had a hard time putting it down once i got started. i enjoyed the dynamic between the fmc and mmc, and also between them & their friends. the relationships felt real in this one, even if the fmc & mmc had a super strong connection from the jump. it wasn't quite instant love, but it was close, however it makes sense as the plot develops. the reason this wasn't a 5 star for me is basically that i wouldn't try to force other people to read it; i'd definitely recommend it but i wouldn't shove it down people's throats.

tropes: witches, cozy romantasy, kitschy halloween town setting, magic, paranormal, prophecy/destiny, fated mates, standalone

great for readers who want a witchy adult romance that's basically set in halloween town.

3.5🌶️ this was much steamier than i expected, and it was quite the pleasant surprise. it wasn't hardcore or k!nky, but there was a significant quantity of steam & spice. the scenes weren't overly long, and i would say that the descriptions were pretty standard for mainstream steamy romances. the spice was well suited for a wide audience. cw: none

thank you to Booksirens for this review copy. this is my honest & voluntary review.

This was my first foray into cozy romance, and let me just say I was more than pleased! The story revolves around the cozy town of Moonstone Falls, a place where magic enchants every aspect of everyday life. If you're a millennial, you'll recognize the subtle nods to Halloweentown, except this story has more emotional development, more magic, and more spice! The FMC is likable the moment you meet her. The MMC is the sort of warlock we all dream of falling in love with. The plot keeps the story moving at a quick pace, but the writer gives us plenty of time for our characters to react to everything, so nothing feels rushed. Oh, and the magical drinks the barista makes will make you want to sip your favorite pumpkin spice, chai, or chocolate beverage while reading, so get settled in and enjoy!

Thank you BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book! A very cute and fun read that had some tear jerking and interesting twists. The characters were great and hoping there’s a second book with a new couple in the future! Loved how it was an easy read with a good plot. You know what’s interesting? The book started off in the MMC POV and I really thought the whole book was going to written that way and I was so excited at the thought lol. I loved both POVs in the end though, as well as the prophecies, Yeti, and the familiars.

A lot of books lately have been hard to read because of the detailed plot or types of magic and/or world building but this one was very easy to follow along with which I appreciate.

I found this book really fun and enjoyable! I finished it in one afternoon. It was such a refreshing romance story. I really like the town and the Halloween/ mysterious vibe. It feels like walking through “Stars Hallow” if you know, you know!

I thought the dual POV was well done and I’d happily read another one of this authors books. I think it was a unique storyline with a refreshing take on a teacher student relationship- so cute!. Thanks for allowing me to read it early.

I really liked this one. Definitely a good paranormal romance with witches and warlocks. It had a fall cozy vibe to it, and the story has so more to it. Not fluffy cozy and has some spice. I hope Lauren writes more in this world. It was pretty interesting but not too over the top.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I really liked our two main characters, I was soon rooting for them and invested in their romance. The plot was faced paced with a nice balance between action and romantic suspense, the spicy scenes were well written and a good addition. I enjoyed the small town witchy setting as the magic system added a lot to the plot and added a fun element.

I was soon hooked and able to read the book quickly. I always like alternative POVs, if I’m being picky I would have liked the chapters to have been a little shorter.

All in all, this book was a fun witchy romance with high stakes and spice! The vibes were a little similar to the Dream Harbour series in the best way, but with the added extra magic!

honestly it's not bad

it's so easy to read. a normal person would've smashed this in an afternoon.

a week and a half is a miracle for me. it's all downhill from here.

is this a true 4? no. maybe a 3.5 only really because it really bothered me how much parts of the book borrows from other popular books. or maybe i perceive it that way. i do go through them in my notes but i'm rounding it to a 4 because i actually liked reading this.

again i still don't know if the level of how much i liked this book stems from the fact that i am cherry picking the parts that i know are from other stories so maybe take this with a grain of salt. i like the setting... moonstone falls as a town sounds so cute. add to that that the town is halloween themed. it's so easy to visualise. but also why is calli living in a manor. in this economy. i loveeee that she owns a bookstore and her friend owns a cafe and all i could think about is pumpkin spice cafe and that town as a setting. this sounds shallow but i like that it's witchy??? one of my best read from 2025 was "Weyward" and that's as witchy as it can get. and harry potter obvssss. maybe i like witchy books and i shouldn't be ashamed that a part of me likes witchy books. come to think of it, most of my gripe with fantasy books with any sort of magic element to it is that they don't have a lot of magic in them. i want some spells and i want someone levitating in the sky and shooting glowing orbs at people.

i'm ramblingggg again

but alsooo moving onnn... the characters were fine. they were as fleshed out as i liked them to be. calli is this hedge witch who comes across malcolm after he portals himself into moonstone falls. she's really kind and powerful and traumatised. she's a very trusting person, maybe to a fault. the loss of her parents kind of dictate her relationship to malcolm especially after finding out that they witchlocked, almost like she has to make his work because her parents were destined and if she's destined to be with this person then she'll make it work. malcolm just feels really nice guy to me. why do also i picture him in a leather jacket at all times. obviously he has some angst within him bc he doesn't want to be a warlock and he's kind of stuck with his powers. why does he also read to me like he's a little bit of a pushover? maybe not a pushover but like a a subtle version of someone who gives up easily? he falls off a broom once and he's sworn off magic, he's told about his many prophecies and he's like "meh" and he's summoned to council (something he did not want to be a part of) and he's like "what can you do? sign me up". hahahaha. he's doesn't feel like much of a protector. like i wouldn't count on him to save me from a fire but i like that he'll make breakfast for me in the morning? you know? lol.

my recapppp

so malcolm goes to see his parents bc he's 30 now and his dad made a deal to the witch council that M will be a leader when he turns 30. his dad spoils the news and M leaves bc he's made it clear to his parents that he hates magic. he goes off and in his anger he opens a portal and yeets himself to moonstone falls straight into calli's pumpkins. C is a hedge witch. lore but there's two types of witches/ warlocks: blood witches whose powers come from within them and they are inherent whereas hedge witches powers come from the elements so they can control plants or whatever. the latter, aren't respected bc they're not born with those powers. anywaysss so they meet bc M destroys her pumpkins right before the spooky season. she finds out he has powers and invites him to stay with her. and i also forgot but M has a familiar, hades. familiars are animal companions that magic people get. so they stay with C. that night C has a nightmare about her parents' accident. she wakes up screaming and M comforts her. they have hot chocolate and they start making outttt. okay. make it make sense you just met this man. they also have an agreement that M goes and gets at least one magic lesson. that morning M goes to town to meet with his friend bc happenstance that his friend jasper is in moonstone falls. he is exception to the rule of mortals that aren't able to remember this town unless they have some connection to magic. jasper's connection is through M bc he knows that M has magic. they meet up. we meet sage, C's bff and maybe a potential love interest for jasper (spoiler but nothing happens). then there's this accident that M stops. he stops time and saves this kid from getting crushed by a truck (?). then he goes to meet C at her bookstore. M's magic goes haywire things go flying off of shelves and M is in the air and suddenly they're making out again and then M sucking on her titties. i want to throw up. sage walks in on them and tells them off. rightfully so bc your shop is open. them two need to get a grip. sage reveals that they're witchlocked. almost but not quite yet. then they go the woods for said magic lesson. oh also i forgot but C has a familiar now, a cat named persephone. so they all go the woods and oddly enough and given that he hasn't practiced it in yearssss, M is good at magic. and he also teaches C how to do a time spell? i don't get why he's in the position to teach someone a spell but okay. in the background of all these things happening in moonstone falls, M's dad is in contact with the leader of the council and we find out that reggie here did a blood vow. so if malcolm doesn't take his spot in the council his dad will die. back to moonstone falls, C and M make cookies but the cookies were hexed so now C's drugged up. in harry potter fashion, a portrait of C's dead grandmother starts talking and tells M about a prophecy that he'll destroy moonstone falls. he's at least a good communicator and tells C this when she wakes up. they head to the library (?) or this place in the town that has a copy of the prophecies. its managed by a yeti. okay. there's loads of magical creatures in this town, like werewolves and vampires. they also discover another prophecy about C and about the town. the wards suddenly just come down. M goes over to another lady's place i think to find out more about the prophecy and instead this woman is like the town will fall bc of you. he then wanders off the woods lol. she finds him and brings him back home. then calli pops her cherryyyyyy. the wards coming down is pretty low stakes then bc honestly no one gives a fuck hahahahahaha. they all just reduced the amount they used magic so the mortals wouldn't be sus. that's it. we're introduced to the antagonist but he's not really all that menacing is he? let's all be honest. so nowww... M's dad finds out where he is bc that wards are down. he visits and tells him to come home, he refuses. his dad leaves a totem in case he changes his mind. xaden and violet try to find out how to raise the wards... omg sorry that's iron flame. so reggie gets progressively sicker to the point where lady batsford, reggie and his wife travel to moonstone falls to actually convince M to come back this time. and all is revealed that M was responsible for C's parents' death. he was driving recklessly on his broom and in turn caused a truck to swerve into C's parents' car. C is devastated and tells M to fuck off. he leaves and takes his spot in the council. it's all very sad like a music video. then the witch hunter we were introduced to comes to moonstone falls and targets C first. M finds out about this bc he's a creepy stalker and is spying on her with a crystal ball. he goes back to moonstone falls with his family and the council leader lady. i spaced out during the fight scene but a fight scene happens in the woods and i remember M falling from a cliff. and C heals him. it was giving rapunzel. so now everything good. everybody lives happily ever after. calli is accepted by the family now, and M whinging about being a member of the council was for nothing bc it's actually so chill and he gets summoned every so often and he can teleport back to moonstone falls when he wants. also i have no idea what happened to the wards. i think i spaced out again.

that's the plot for my own future reference lol

i don't know what else to say other than i've been attempting to write this whole thing for 5 day now and it's eating away at my chance to read other things so i'll get on with it. hidden below are my kindle notes. :)

out of characters! thanks book sirens :)

I enjoyed this book, and it truly got me through a really horrid work week. Smith's writing of complex characters made for characters that I ended up rooting for throughout the course of the book. Although the characters of Calli and Malcom experience insta-love early in the book, I appreciated the way that Smith was able to integrate emotional depth into their developing relationship, either in explicitly stated scenes where we learn information with the characters or by telling the reader about events happening off-page. However, one thing that I really struggled with was the pacing of this book and all of the subplots' components that were added at various points throughout the course of the story.

With regards to pacing, it felt like things were a bit disjointed between the romance and the overall plot about the town. While the stories interplayed with each other, it felt as if I was often shifting perspectives and waiting for something to happen in the overall story that would drive the plot forward. In many ways, I found myself wanting to get back to the plot regarding the danger the town was in, and then, when I was in that, I wanted to get back to the romance.

I also feel like one of the central plot points appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the book. It was clear that this character was simply a plot device because they showed up out of nowhere in the storyline and were clearly just a villain.

I'm also not entirely sure why some focus was given to Malcom's father during the course of the book, but not to others. It felt a bit like there were too many characters to try to integrate into the storyline. While I do think that Smeith was able to pull things together to make a coherent story, it did feel a bit overwhelming to be introduced to another character or point of focus during the course of the story.

I loved Hades and Persephone, even if the naming was a bit on the nose. I thought their meeting up together was so cute, and Smith painted a vivid picture of them and their interactions with each other.

I did find the ending of the story really moving, even if the forgiveness aspects of the storyline felt a bit contrived. I'm also disappointed that the plot about the pumpkin carriage was never resolved.

Overall, this was a fun romance with monster elements and Halloween vibes. Smith's greatest achievement is the emotive nature of her writing, which made me deeply emotionally invested in these characters. If I had to sell this book, I would describe it as the adult Halloweentown.

OOPS I HEXED HIM AGAIN by Lauren Smith is a contemporary, adult, erotic, paranormal, romance story focusing on hedge witch Calli Wynter, and blood warlock Malcolm ‘Mac’ Wellesley.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives (Calli and Malcolm) OOPS I HEXED HIM AGAIN follows in the aftermath of the introduction and relationship between our story line couple. Malcolm Wellesley is the son of a blood warlock, and a human female, a non-magical person but upon his birth, a prophecy foretold of great things for our story line hero, and a blood vow would ensure Malcolm took his place. Malcolm believes he has no magical powers and the magic he does possess is uncontrollable and potentially dangerous but when Malcolm accidentally opens a portal to Moonstone Falls, a small town inhabited by supernatural creatures, Malcolm will discover his fated mate, a hedge witch Calli Wynter, and a witch-lock bond may be the death of not only Moonstone Falls, but our couple as well.

The world building focuses on a prophecy; on a promise, and on Malcolm’s destiny to sit on the Salem Witch Council. Moonstone Falls is the answer to Malcolm’s struggling magic but once released, our hero will be deemed a threat but all is not as it appears to be, fate intervened years before, pushing our couple together.

The relationship between Calli and Malcolm is one of fated mates. Calli has offered to teach Malcolm how to control his magic and in doing so will discover their mutual attraction and need for one another. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of magical and colorful secondary and supporting supernatural characters. We are introduced to Calli’s friend and fellow witch Sage, warlock Jasper, yeti Finnigan, and Malcolm’s parents Reginald and Sarah Wellesley, council member Lady Serafina Batsford, and hunter Cain Henson, as well as Malcolm’s familiar Hades, and Calli’s familiar Persephone. I am hoping the author has plans for more instalments.

OOPS I HEXED HIM AGAIN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, discrimination, memories and history, fate and family. The premise is edgy and engaging; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are desperate and charismatic.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is my first time reading Lauren Smith and I think I chose a great book to start with. Oop! I Hexed Him Again is a cozy romance with fall vibes that transports you to a town full of magic and wonder. There is heat, tension, family drama, and danger in her story, written in a way that keeps you intrigued and smiling. The pacing of this story is well done, captivating readers with the MCs romance, while keeping readers wondering how they were connected in the past.

The chemistry between our MCs, Malcolm (Mac) and Calli is instantaneous. And while their connection may be immediate, doesn’t mean their relationship is easy. There are those who are not happy about their blossoming romance and they do everything they can to keep them apart. I loved the flow of Mac and Calli getting to know each other. Lauren does a fantastic job cultivating it and allowing them to get to know one another, even though their attraction is evident. I found myself rooting for our couple from the very beginning.

Balancing our perfect and orderly FMC with a MMC who is messy and chaotic was a great touch. It allowed for situations where they could learn from each other and better themselves. My heart did ache for Mac though and the guilt that he is struggling through. I hated how he was made to believe things about himself when they weren’t true. Basically, accidents happen and while the consequences are not always fair, it doesn't make it any more your fault.

Lauren definitely watched Halloween Town when she was younger. The town of Moonstone Falls is a perfect mix of this and Star’s Hollow. I hope she writes more stories that take place in this town. As we celebrate the beginning of spring, the autumn vibes bring a feeling of cozy and warmth. But really? Is it ever too early for fall vibes and magical romances? I think not.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

thoroughly enjoyed this cozy paranormal mystery romance by one of my favorite authors. The engaging plot is very well written, fast-paced, action-packed, and full of enchanting and heartfelt moments, twists, drama, trauma, suspense, danger, humor, and lots of spice. Mac comes from two different worlds and still struggles with a traumatic experience in his childhood that caused him to doubt himself and his magical abilities. Calli lives in a beautiful, peaceful environment and loves her magic. She has suffered great losses and doesn't really let anyone get close to her. She radiates a calmness and serenity that I found very soothing. Their connection and chemistry were instant, and I loved how their different magics created beauty and bonding.

Malcolm "Mac" Wellesley is half warlock, half human, but since an incident in his youth, he refuses to practice magic and prefers to live as a human. When his father tries to force him to serve on the Salem Witch Council, he accidentally opens a wormhole and crashes into the garden of hedge witch Callista "Calli" Winter in Moonstone Falls.
Calli has been living alone since the death of her grandmother, who raised her after her parents' fatal accident, and loves the enchanting atmosphere of her small town and her connection to nature.
Mac and Calli are attracted to each other from the very first moment, and she decides to help him with his magic, even though, unlike her, he practices blood magic. They quickly grow closer, and it soon seems as if they are witch-locked, but an ancient prophecy, a blood vow, a shocking secret, and a catastrophe looming over the town threaten to destroy their bond and their love...

All in all, an enjoyable read packed with likable characters, action, suspense, humour, heart and spice, that I‘m happy to recommend!

I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

Okay, this one was just fun! Calli has her life exactly how she likes it. She's organized, peaceful, and rooted in her little town and her hedge witch routines. She grows her herbs, runs her bookstore, keeps her spells neat and intentional. And then Mac shows up. Or more accurately, crashes in. He’s a half-warlock with way too much power and not nearly enough control, and when he destroys her pumpkin patch right before the Halloween festival, that’s basically the start of everything.

I loved how opposite they are. Calli is steady and grounded. Mac is powerful but kind of a mess about it. He’s been avoiding his big, intimidating warlock family for years because their expectations are a lot, and his magic has always felt more chaotic than refined. He slowly realizes that maybe the life he actually wants isn’t the one his father planned for him which was really fulfilling.

The chemistry between them is super flirty, but what I liked most is that it’s not just about attraction. When his father shows up and tries to drag him back into family duty, there's tons of tension like he actually has something to lose. Between the small-town Halloween feel, magical mishaps, and a MMC who’s trying, this was such a cozy read. If you’re in the mood for a steamy romance with some witchy vibes, this one’s solid!

This was my first Lauren Smith book, but it will *not* be my last! I was expecting a cozy read full of fluff, and while I did get that, I also got so much more. Calli is a pretty bad-a hedge which FMC & Malcom is our tall, flannel-wearing blood warlock who is resistant to magic MMC. These two literally collide & sparks (and small fires) start flying. This book brought me through a storm of different emotions: I laughed. I cried. I giggled. I cheered. I definitely blushed a bit. There might’ve even been some feet kicking with excitement.

I loved how the author chose a protected magical town setting nestled in between real towns. It really helps you immerse yourself into the story & maybe become slightly delusional about its real life existence. There was a little bit of everything in the story, and I think most paranormal romance readers would be happy with all of the characters included. Swamp monsters, werewolves, vampires, and even a yeti have a mention or make an appearance.

Overall, this is a heartfelt story of two people finding out that it’s hard to go against fate. It’s a nice, cozy read with a slight sprinkling of past trauma and some current drama that add to the story while not overshadowing it.

Oops I Hexed Him Again by Lauren Smith is a delightful, laugh-out-loud romp that brings together magic, romance, and one heck of a mishap. The title says it all—this book is filled with chaotic charm, and I couldn't get enough of it!

The protagonist, with her wildly unintentional hexing abilities, is exactly the kind of heroine you can’t help but root for (even if she does cause a bit of magical mayhem along the way). The chemistry between her and the love interest is absolutely electric—though, honestly, after all the spells gone wrong, I’m surprised they didn’t have a few more magical explosions between them.

What really made this book stand out, aside from the romance, was the humor. It’s sharp, witty, and had me chuckling at every turn. Smith masterfully blends moments of magic-induced chaos with comedic timing, making this a perfect pick if you’re in the mood for something light-hearted but still packed with plenty of heat.

The only reason I didn’t give it five stars? Well, I could have used a little more depth in certain parts of the plot, but hey, the laughs more than made up for it.

A big thanks to the author for providing me with an EARC of this book—four stars for a fun, fast-paced, and totally enchanting read. Definitely a book that will leave you grinning, even if you're still wondering how the hexing will go next.

**ARC REVIEW**

Thank you so much to Book Sirens and Lauren Smith for this eARC!

I had so much fun with this one! I finished it in a single afternoon! It’s a refreshing, cozy romance that’s equal parts charming, steamy, and magical.

Calli is grounded, steady, and perfectly in tune with her world of herbs, spells, and her cozy bookstore. Mac, on the other hand, is powerful but a little chaotic. He's a hot, unpredictable half-warlock who’s been avoiding his intimidating, high-expectation family for years because his magic has never quite fit their mold. Watching him navigate Calli’s organized world while slowly realizing that maybe the life he truly wants isn’t the one his father planned was surprisingly fulfilling and satisfying.

Their slow-burn romance was full of humor, tension, and just enough steamy moments to keep things spicy, all wrapped in a warm autumnal, Halloween-perfect setting. Moonstone Falls is magical in every sense, and their combined magic proves that opposites really do attract.

I loved how easy it was to get lost in this story. The plot was fun, the pacing perfect, and I’m seriously hoping there’s a second book with a new couple in the future! A delightful, fun, and heartwarming read I’d happily revisit.

Thank you, BookSirens & Lauren Smith, for giving me an opportunity to review "Oops I Hexed Him Again". The overall premises of the story sounded so fun and cosy. And the book did not disappoint. And I really liked the writing style. It took me 2 sittings to finish the book. My first impression based solely on the blurb, cover and title was that the story would be a fun, light-hearted read. In a sense it was a 'light' read, but there were definitely some twists and turns thrown into the mix. There was a good build-up towards the 'reveal' of the book. While the romance was a bit instant-love/attraction for me. Calli & Mac had their sweet romantic moments. I personally would've loved it if both the FMC & MMC had had a bit more non-spicy interaction. There were a few more spicy scenes than I expected. (Which is not a bad thing but more like, 'Oh, another one lol'). I'm interested to see more of Moonstone Falls and its residents. Hopefully there will be a continuation of a series. If not the stand-alone was still a fun read. I'm glad Calli & Mac got their happily ever after. Love love love the familiars as well<3

FMC - Callista "Calli" Wynter, hedge witch
MMC - Malcom "Mac" Wellesley, blood warlock

Blurb:
Malcolm, this green eyed, flannel wearing blood warlock is not wanting to follow in his fathers footsteps of being apart of the magical community but his magic has other plans for him and ends up sending him right into the hands of a beautiful, sweet hedge witch destroying her prized pumpkin patch in the process. What else could go wrong? Are these two destined to be together or at odds?

I was immediately hooked to this charming, spellbound story, it's fun, has an entertaining plot, great character development and all the warm, witchy vibes you love in a paranormal romance! There were prophesies and danger and I could wait to find out what happened between Calli and Malcom. I definitely recommend this book!

Lauren Smith's books have always been a must read for me and with Oops, I Hexed Him Again, I discovered that she can write brilliant stories in any genre! I 've only read her historical fiction series (outstanding) so I jumped on the chance to read this paranormal book. I was hooked as soon as I began to read and loved the magical world Lauren has created Callie, a hedge witch and Malcolm a warlock. He crashes into her life and sparks fly in more ways than one. Their journey is filled with love, prophecies and unexpected danger as Lauren takes the reader through all the emotions. I found myself laughing out loud and fighting tears and then holding my breath through the final chapters.
I also loved that the story is filled with exceptional supporting characters as interesting as Callie and Malcolm and I hope there will be a book about Sage and Jasper soon. ((please))?

This wasn’t a bad read, but it’s just felt so superficial to me. So if you’re looking for spicy cozy with not much depth, this is for you.
I think my biggest annoyance though, was the inconsistency with magic and electronics. Malcom’s dad is this super powerful warlock who married a human and they’ve been dealing with their incompatibility for at least 30 years. She needs electronics (oven, coffee maker, etc) and he can’t be too close to them otherwise his magic causes it to go haywire. Yet Calli has a convenient spell that makes it so she can use electronics without her magic messing it up?? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Their relationship went from them meeting, to spilling their *entire* life stories the literal same day.
The next day they’re practically fornicating.
It just didn’t feel deep in any way at all.

Overall a cute story, liked all the characters and the setting of Moonstone Falls was adorable. (Reminded me of Halloweentown in a way). There was some awkward grammar in the first and last few chapters, but hopefully that'll be edited a bit more between now and release day in the last few rounds of edits!

I spent most of the book hoping for more layers to the conflicts (I kept hoping the prophecy regarding the destruction of Moonstone would be talking about the necklace, not the town), and was a bit bummed that all the conflicts were solved in the most straightforward way possible. (I find it unbelievable that the witch council would immediately accept a hedge witch after years of exclusion following a single conversation with their newest member).

Worth a read if you enjoy lighter Halloween themed books!

Malcolm Wellesley is a half-warlock that has huge potential -according to his dad but he doesn’t believe it and doesn’t like having magic. Calli Wynter is a hedge witch who loves her magic and loves what it can do. Through a series of unexpected events, they are thrown together and learn their fates have been intertwined since birth. Will they be able to save the magical town that Calli lives in and unlock Malcolm’s magic? Will their burgeoning love be enough?

This was a cozy story set in the magical fall season. The magical town of Moonstone Falls is the perfect place for these events to unfold and the prophecies to be tested – along with their bond. I enjoyed the story and the tests that their love had to overcome. The evolving relationship with his parents was realistic and added to the story well. I recommend this book.

My favorite genre is cozy fantasy. And I also read a lot of spicy romances. So this book was a perfect fit for me.

It’s not a perfect book, but it is entertaining and sweet and sexy and cheesy.

The magic system and world-building wasn’t really developed in depth. And the romance was very much insta-love.

Those two flaws can be a deal-breaker for some readers, I know. But for me it just made the book the equivalent of chocolate ice cream — something you wouldn’t want every time, but a delicious dessert for the right mood.

The sex scenes weren’t as emotionally satisfying as in romance books with the will-they-or-won’t-they tension finally paying off. But if you like two lovable and loving characters having spicy fun (which I do) you’ll also enjoy this book.

I would read more from this author, especially about Sage and Jasper.

4.5*

I liked the main characters, although I really enjoyed Malcolm's (Mac)familiar Hades (what a name poor dog) in the sidecar, the visual of it makes me smile.
Mac's father comes from a long line of warlocks, and Hades keeps him calm. Mac's family have high expectations of him, so he avoids spending too much time with them, but Max is a bit of a playboy, and as yet his control of his spells isn't the best.
So when he meets Callie a witch when he accidentally destroys her pumpkin patch, chaos breaks out for both of them. Mac tries hard to fix her pumpkins, but his family are determined he return home and carry out his destiny. But Max feels more and more Callie may be that destiny.

Quite enjoyed this book, decent lead characters, but I don't usually read contemporary literature, hence the 4 stars.

What a beautiful love story!

This is a fantastic paranormal love story. We have a half warlock who can’t trust his magic, then we have a hedge witch living in an enchanted community. When our hero finds out his father has agreed that he would sit on the Council and spell binds him, Malcolm takes off with his familiar, only to end up going through a portal and eventually finding Calli. These two end up going through so much, but as this is a love story, there is a heartfelt sigh at the end. I really did love this story and was immediately pulled into it and just had to keep reading to find out what happened next. There is a lot of action and a lot of emotions which lead to a very satisfying ending.

A delightful cozy paranormal romance!
If you’re craving crisp fall air, small-town magic, and a little Halloween charm, Oops! I Hexed Him Again by Lauren Smith is a delightful pick.
Malcolm and Calli have a connection that refuses to stay buried. Even though they come from different magical worlds and past events say they should never work, fate (and some magical mishaps) keeps pulling them back together. There’s an intensity between them that feels both inevitable and fragile, like something that could either heal… or completely break them.
This book gave me Halloweentown meets Gilmore Girls energy —whimsical, comforting, and easy to sink into. But underneath that cozy surface, there’s a thread of something heavier quietly building.
There’s a turning point that completely shifts how you see their relationship—not in a shocking way, but in a quietly devastating one. It introduces a deep sense of unfairness that lingers, while layering in guilt and regret that you can feel pressing in on the characters. And just when that weight settles in, the story delivers a moment of unexpected tenderness and grace that feels almost undeserved—and that’s what makes it hit so hard.
If you’re looking for a steamy paranormal romance with magic, autumn vibes, and a love story that has to fight through guilt, fate, and second chances to earn its ending—this one’s for you.
Perfect for curling up with a blanket and a pumpkin spice latte during spooky season (or anytime you need a feel-good escape).

"A Sweet, Exciting, and Funny Paranormal Romance"

This is a sweet and sexy paranormal story. You will love the characters as they make you smile and laugh.
Malcolm is a young and sexy half Warlock. He has hated his magic half since he was young. After he had an accident while riding his broom.Malcolm is turning thirty, and his father insists Malcolm takes a seat on the Witches and Warlock council. At this Malcolm rushes out and ends up in the little town of Moonstone Falls. Right in the middle of a pumpkin patch!
Calli is a sweet hedge witch. When she hears a sound outside she is shocked. To see a young Warlock had just crashed into her pumpkin patch on his motorcycle! Not only this he sets her patch on fire trying to fix it. But don't worry fate has something planned for these two.
You will love this five star plus sweet story.

As a hedge witch, Calli Wynter’s perfectly organized life revolves around her cosy bookstore, the magical herbs she cultivates, and her carefully curated magical spells. But when Malcolm “Mac” Wellesley, a half-warlock playboy with spectacularly unpredictable powers and far too much sexual attraction, accidentally destroys her prized pumpkins for the Halloween festival, her quiet world and her magic explode into delicious chaos.
A delightful romance, strong characters, a well paced story, sizzling chemistry meant I found it very hard to put down & devoured it in two sittings. I loved both Mac & Calli & loved their journey to a HEA, it was fun & entertaining.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

Loved Callie and Malcolm’s story ! Lauren Smith gives us a new term for fated mates : “witch-locked”, it’s for witches whose fates are so intertwined if one of them dies, they both do ! Talk about needing to make sure this relationship is real !! Callie and Nalcolm go back and forth hexing each other (accidentally) that is and quite hilariously at that ! The fact that their familiars are named Hades and Persephone should have been a clue ! In case you can’t tell, I adore this story and hope to see more of Moonstone Falls and its cast of characters! 5✨’s for a story full of love, angst and warring prophecies.
