Edge-of-Your-Seat Suspense and a Second-Chance Romance Hot Enough to Boil Crawfish in the Swamp!
If you love non-stop action, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and romance hot enough to boil crawfish in the swamp, Patch’s Target is the book for you. I was so enthralled that I refused to put it down until I knew how it ended—which meant sacrificing a lot of sleep as I read late into the night!
Jen Talty, the third author in this four-book collaborative series, is known for writing broken heroes and heroines who believe love is not meant for them—only to discover their soulmate in the most unlikely place imaginable. Her characters’ evolution from cracked souls to whole again is so compelling that they practically leap off the page. Patch and Savvy are two such characters. The timing for their second-chance romance is all wrong, yet ignoring their feelings is impossible. The reasons they didn’t work before haven't changed, but whenever they are together, those obstacles somehow fade away. In Talty’s capable hands, you know a happily-ever-after is coming, even when the odds seem impossibly stacked against them. Their journey toward redemption is poignant, emotional, and ultimately soul-mending. Talty has a gift for making readers believe that if Patch and Savvy can find the other half of their souls while dodging bullets and swamp creatures in the Louisiana bayou, then there might just be hope for the rest of us, too.
I especially appreciated that Savvy is not a damsel in distress with a body designed only to decorate the hero’s arm. She is strong, capable, and fully able to hold her own. Patch may have the classic alpha-protector instincts, but he respects Savvy’s strength and sees her as a true partner. Together they learn to rely on each other’s skills in a crisis and—more difficult still—to trust each other enough to be vulnerable. Talty brings both characters vividly to life, crafting a love story that is equal parts fierce, tender, and deeply satisfying.
And the suspense? It may be the most intense in the series so far. Secret government organizations, conspiracies, betrayals, and danger lurking in unexpected places kept me guessing about where the real threat was coming from. Talty is a master at delivering plot twists you never see coming. From the first page to the last, the story pulls you in so completely that the real world simply disappears—a sure sign of great romantic suspense.
I am so intrigued and captivated by this series! Patch’s Target was absolutely worth the sleep I lost reading late into the night. Now I can hardly wait to start the next book in the series, Cross's Target. If you love high-stakes danger, fierce partnerships, and romance that burns as hot as a Louisiana summer, Patch’s Target will keep you turning pages long past your bedtime.

There is nothing better than finding a great book to read….unless it is finding four of them. Fans of the Brotherhood Protector’s World rejoice. The circle has expanded to include four fantastic writers who are dipping their toe’s into Elle Jame’s universe. Mystery, intrigue, well written characters, enthralling plot lines, and a nod back to the beloved Brotherhood abound. I was lucky enough to be able to read Patch’s Target by Jen Talty. It is Book #3 in the Shadow Hounds: Rogue Waters Series. I’ll put the book names and authors at the end because you will want to start at the beginning to get the most bang out of the series. What I love about this world building offshoot is that you get a fresh new voice and view while basking in a familiar environment. The Shadow Hounds are ghosts, men forced to live off grid, an unofficial, invisible offshoot of the Brotherhood Protectors, tasked with missions that need plausible deniability if they are caught. In Patch’s Target, our heroine Savvy is the lone survivor of a mission meant to go wrong and her only hope of rescue is..dum..dum..dum…her brother. Who in turn calls on his fellow Shadow (and Savvy’s ex lover) -Patch- to rescue her. Together Savvy, Patch and the crew must solve the puzzle of betrayal and lies that are specifically targeting them all while trying to keep themselves alive and under the radar. I can’t emphasize how much I enjoyed this book. A few parts would probably have been clearer if I had read books 1 and 2, but overall the story was easy to follow and kept me reading till I finished. Well done. I had no problem reading and reviewing this book. I would recommend picking the books up:

With an all consuming plot, an intrinsic cast of characters, and a combustible ending I couldn’t put it down! So many questions finally answered. I loved it!!
The world of covert operations was a messy business. That’s why Savvy let the man she cared about walk away years ago. As the director of the 73, a secret cover organization inside the CIA, no one really understands what she does, but Savvy’s an expert at making people disappear & bringing them out again. There just wasn’t room in her life for a relationship. When an ambush during a mission leaves her team dead and her abandoned she’ll have to rely on her brother’s team of Shadow Hounds to extract her.
Patch saw his time with Savvy as wild and reckless, and the best time of his life. Although she’d left an impact on him, their timing was off. Their jobs were more important than their relationship. Then the two are suddenly thrown back together again when the people Savvy trusted most set her up, leaving her abandoned during a mission gone wrong, and Patch is the closest of the Shadow Hounds to her location.
Savvy and the Shadow Hounds have no idea what rogue operatives they’re dealing with, or who’s behind it, but trusted people are dying and others are being left abandoned during missions. Now, they are in for the fight of their lives, determined to get to the bottom of The Black Ledger’s leader and stop the insanity. But will Savvy and Patch finally be able to find their way into a relationship that will work for them?

What a thrill ride from beginning to end! Hunter Savannah “Savvy” LaSalle is the Director of 73, a secret cover of the CIA. She planned every facet of the mission and watches as it falls apart and hears over the comms as the men on her team are killed. With no other option, she contacts her brother for extraction. McGuire arranges for one of his teammates, who is in the area, to save her. “Patch” Kavanaugh, a medic and best friend, arrives just in time. She didn’t expect to see Patch as she hasn’t seen him since they parted five years ago. Savvy knows that someone else must have known of the plans as she bears the guilt of the loss of her team. She vows to find who was responsible for their deaths. The fire between her and Patch hasn’t dimmed as they celebrate her safety. She needs safe intel on who could have been involved and Darius Ford of Colorado agrees to find out who and why the mission was derailed. She and the Shadow Hounds learn that one of the team was involved in the non-sanctioned Black Ledger and the plot to take her down. As they piece together the background of the individual, they realize that he could have been involved in other attempts against Patch. Will the plan they have devised bring down Black Ledger and all those who are involved? If so, is there a chance for her and Patch to once again share their love and lives together? WOW! If you love suspense, danger, betrayal, lots of action and a little romance, this one’s for you. Hunter Savannah LaSalle, Savvy, was on a mission when things went wrong. How is that possible? She planned it herself and now all of her team is dead. She calls her brother and he sends in a recuse team. When she sees her ex lover, Elias Kavanaugh , called Patch, a medic and former Green Beret, she’s shocked. She’s never got over him but their careers got in the way. Now she is in the middle of the Louisiana bayou. Will her brother and Patch’s team figure out what happened? Why it happened? Will there feelings get in the way? They were never able to deny their chemistry. As they figure out who did who, it puts all of them in danger. Lots of twists and turns. Secrets revealed. Will she return to work? Will she stay with the man she loves? I couldn’t put it down. Awesome read. The characters are wonderful. Sometimes you have to let the person go to have them come back to you. Worth the read. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

This is one of those stories that stuck with me even after I finished it.
I don’t remember every detail, but I do remember how it felt—intense, fast-paced, and nearly impossible to put down. The suspense kept building, and just when I thought I had things figured out, the story kept pulling me deeper.
Savvy is on the run after everything goes wrong, and from the start, there’s this sense that she can’t trust anyone. When she turns to Patch—the one person tied to her past—it adds that second-chance tension that I always enjoy.
What stood out most to me was the pacing and the constant sense of danger. There’s always something happening, always another layer unfolding, and it kept me turning pages to see how it would all come together.
If you enjoy romantic suspense with high stakes, strong characters, and a story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, this is one to pick up. This is one of my favorite stories by Jen Talty, and I’ve read all of her books.

Boring book.
Where's Frankie? Riven is in the book, but Stone's girlfriend is not. She is not even mentioned. The last time the reader knew anything about Frankie was that she was hanging by a rope from the bottom of a helicopter.
Hannah was mentioned several times. It was around page 50 before I found out it was Patch's sister. It would have been helpful to know that the first time she was mentioned.
I always thought that Drew was a brother of McGuire and Savvy. I finally found out in this book that Drew was Savvy's twin. Why wasn't that known from book 1? As I said before, I don't like series written by several authors.
There is action at the beginning when Patch rescue's Savvy. Then action toward the end of the book when Gunnar is caught. Other than that, not much happens. I am glad the book was short.

I couldn’t put this one down! With an all-consuming plot and a deeply intrinsic cast of characters, this book delivers a perfect mix of high-octane action and second-chance romance.
Savvy, the badass director of a secret CIA cover organization, and McGuires sister is forced to rely on her past—specifically Patch and his team of Shadow Hounds—after a brutal betrayal leaves her team dead. The tension between Savvy and Patch is electric as they navigate a web of rogue operatives and the mystery of The Black Ledger.
The ending was absolutely combustible, and I loved finally getting answers to the questions built up throughout not only this story but the entire series. If you love gritty military suspense and a "world against us" vibe, this is a must-read!

Her unsanctioned work within the government put Savvy in the position of helping those that needed to disappear after being blamed for failed missions after being set up. Unfortunately, she was unprepared for the ambush that killed her team and left her trying to survive those hunting her. She had a secure communication line with her brother and reached out for help who sent help through his best friend Patch who was working in the area. They managed to get her out but now she has a target on her back and Patch is determined to keep her safe. Patch has loved her for years but with their jobs, he walked away not knowing she felt the same way. Will they now be able to find the traitor and have a second chance at love. An action-packed story that I enjoyed reading.

When Savvy needs an extraction after a mission goes wrong, Patch, who happens to be her ex comes to her aid. The two walked away from each other years ago, the job always came first and neither wanted to ask the other to walk away. The feelings are still there and this time, it may be the second chance they deserve but there is a traitor that needs to be dealt with and it seems it may not all be about Savvy.
A great read with suspense, some action, steam, and great characters. I loved the no drama between them, no games and a love that finally has a chance. There were some loose ends for me about her team, what happened to them but otherwise I couldn’t stop flipping the pages….4.5 stars

I think this third book in the Shadow Hounds series is my favorite.
The tension is high with action and suspense that never lets up. Savvy is the one who has been behind the scenes helping the team clear their names after a mission goes bad. Now Savvy is a target and needs the team's help. Patch has a past with Savvy and will do anything necessary to keep her alive, but it will take the team and some others in the Brotherhood Protector world to make sure they survive. I enjoyed getting to know Patch better and seeing how his past shaped who he is now. When Patch and Savvy do get together, the heat between them is hotter than a Bayou summer.
The tension is high with action and suspense that never lets up. Savvy is the one who has been behind the scenes helping the team clear their names after a mission goes bad. Now Savvy is a target and needs the team's help. Patch has a past with Savvy and will do anything necessary to keep her alive, but it will take the team and some others in the Brotherhood Protector world to make sure they survive. I enjoyed getting to know Patch better and seeing how his past shaped who he is now. When Patch and Savvy do get together, the heat between them is hotter than a Bayou summer.

A suspenseful second-chance romance. They both walked away from each other. Neither wanted to give up their career or ask the other one to give up theirs. Present time, when Patch saw Savvy running out of the jungle with hostiles on her back, he wanted nothing more than a second chance. They never stopped loving each other. Patch wanted to help Savvy find the problem in her world. With that accomplished, he would go wherever she ended up to have their HEA. Wonderful story with beautifully complex characters.

Patch is the one sent for the extraction, but they have a history. Despite their attraction when together previously, both knew their jobs came first. Now they are faced with danger while trying to figure out who they can trust and if they can finally find a way to make a relationship work. So many moving parts in this book, and yet it all fits! You don’t want to miss this one!

Another awesome thrilling fast paced second chance read in the Brotherhood World. I can’t say enough about being brought into this world that I love to read. I really enjoy reading Jen Talty’s books. She’s one of my favorite authors. I started with the third in this series because I follow her. It is a standalone and I had no problem following this series even though there are multiple authors. Jen gives such awesome details and brings the characters together even though I started this one first. I am now reading the fourth one and will continue with the entire series.

Arc review For a honest review in my own words on a book I read. When MCGuire gets a call from his sister savvy begging for help he sends Patch knowing their past ,now they are getting a second chance while also finding out what happened to witch leads them all on a hunt to find out the truth . I love these books.

Savvy needs immediate help if she is going to survive, someone higher up the chain of command had her team killed. She called the one person who could help her get out, Patch has his own demons that he’s fighting, but it’s Savvy that’s calling. He’ll always answer when she calls. I highly recommend this book.

Now McGuire’s sister and Patch’s ex-lover needs their help. Patch may have let Savvy go once but this time he is here for the count and their group is all in protecting her. Non-stop action for these second-chance lovers who are here to stay this time.

All of the Brotherhood Protectors World is amazing. This was an action-packed story that I enjoyed from the first chapter till the exciting ending. HEA feels.

Best of the series (so far)
This book has it all: lots of action, multiple layers of bad guys, two main characters you can’t help but root for with lots of character development. I was hoping Savvy would get a book and her with Patch was a match I was easily rooting for. Definitely recommend. Reading at least book 1 will definitely help with sorting the characters.

Together Again!
Patch's Target: WOW another great story! I liked that Patch was the one to rescue Savvy! He was happy to see her but he wss still worried about her! They walked way from each other 5 years ago but he never stopped loving her. McGuire likes to give him a hard time. I really enjoyed their story!

This second chance best friends sister has you rooted to the story. From beginning to the end, not a minute goes by that the reader isn’t attached to Savvy’s and Paych’s love story. Fighting for survival, for the truth and for love brings new facts into the light and solves more mysteries.

Can't get enough of The Shadow Hounds in the bayou. Patch has been through the wringer and the love he has for Savvy is beautiful. The suspense, danger and living in the swamp and s something else. The author did an excellent job of writing this book. HEA.

A fantastic addition to the series and second chance story. Savvy is a smart, tough and sensible. I love how she doesn't back down. Patch is a medic, smart and decisive when it comes to Savvy. I love how they work together to solve the mystery.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I liked this suspense and action filled story where Savvy and Patch get back together. The Black Ledger is a nasty opponent. I liked Savvy, Patch and all the other characters that makes it such a great story.
