Needs a really deep editing. So many grammatical mistakes as well as names being changed, etc. Annoying. That said, the book wasn’t horrible. It was entertaining enough to finish.

Stumbled across this book by following a link for one of those novel reading sites, and could definitely tell that this book is a part of a genre that has a very strict set of tropes and cliches. You bake a cake with eggs, flour, & milk, you make a Werewolf Romance with fated mates, pack dynamics that mimic a caste system, and liberal amounts of angst. While I don't see myself becoming a huge a fan of this particular genre as a whole, Game of Destiny was a surprisingly cozy read (even when it remembered that werewolves are technically monsters and threw in few bloody scenes).
If Halmark ever broke into the Werewolf game, this would probably be the story they would adapt.

This book is not a book of literary art. If you go into it thinking it will be, you will be sorely disappointed. However, if you go into it for a lighthearted, werewolf fated mates, bit of smut, just for fun- you will thoroughly enjoy it. I loved so many of the things she did with the plot and storyline. I went on a binge of the whole genre and this one was the best I found- I read it on one of those annoying apps where you basically watch an add after each short chapter- and it was worth it.

Does it need to be around 100 chapters? No
But it is exactly what I was in the mood for and made me feel. Despite all it's flaws, it's getting a rare 5 stars.
My biggest complaint is for such a long book we only got descriptions for a few characters, and it wasn't diverse at all. Especially when the games and Alpha meetings are supposed to be held for packs around the entire world.
Also, the timeline was sad. I wish it would have been a few years max for the couple.

He freaks and immediately rejects her in front of the entire pack. The alpha is upset but agrees with his son on h being weak.
Her dad and mom are the Beta family. h grew up calling the Alpha and Gamma her uncles. This was destroying relationships in the pack, so h ran away.
She lives in the human world for 4 years.
When she meets Finn, he takes her to meet his new pack. There she gets her wolf, and she is not weak! She is a rare and big red wolf. She joins the pack. I loved the friendships she made. When the beta died during the attack I sobbed.
Best part of this story is that she doesn't end up with her original mate who rejected her. Finn and her love each other for SIX years without talking about it or making a move. h is scared he will meet his true mate and she would lose him.
h becomes H's beta and they go to the games with a great team. First day she meets her brother again, and her mate. It seems that for a rejection to break a bond, the rejected party has to accept the rejection. No one knew this, so she is still technically mated to James. Accepting the rejection would disqualify them both from the games so she has to wait a month.
Finn kissed h before games but she stopped it, since he could meet his mate there. Turns out he did, at the end of the games she accepts James rejection and instantly mates to Finn, they're second chance mates.
Their bond is recognized by the counsel and they're told they have both a chosen and true mate bond, because SIX freaking years of friendship and love beforehand.
The games were fun and intense. I loved how Jake grew in this and proved his worth, becoming Beta when h becomes Luna. James was such a bad mate. He told h she betrayed him because of the H, she yelled I'm a virgin are you. Of course he had been sleeping around the whole time. He told her he was scared, he was young and she was so beautiful. The Pack and his family loved her, he knew they'd want her to be treated right. And of course, now that he knows he was wrong and has seen her beautiful strong wolf he wants to right his wrongs. When she says no he tries to make her jealous by making out with one of his old hookups, ICK!
She gets along with her brother and his mate. Meets Finn's mother and brother.
Finn was the second son, not raised to be an alpha. His aunt pretty much raised him, his parents focusing on older son. When their dad dies his brother became alpha, but he had a violent mean streak. Finn saw the destruction of the pack coming, his mom begged not to challenge his brother, so he went to counsel and formed his own pack, allowing anyone from the original pack to follow him. His pack is strong, but his brothers was focused on strength and warriors getting everything. When all the others left it didn't leave many people to do the actual daily work. The H's Blue Mountain pack ranks number 3 in the world and his brothers pack falls to 31.
They go home, celebrate their mating. Make new alliances with other packs. Find out horrid things H's brother is doing.
h gets pregnant but forces H to take her to annual Alpha meeting. They use their allies to get his brother's pack dismantled, brother no longer an alpha. h is of course kidnapped and H kills brother.
His mother needed slapped. She doesn't see how only choosing the brother because of her own parenting mistakes made H feel like crap. h encouraged H to tell her the truth but in the end they have a civil acquaintance relationship.
Luckily h's family is amazing and treats H like family.
James meets a wolf from H's old pack, chooses her, and they're kids are all friends.
Couple have a son then daughter and of course ends with the H getting her pregnant a third time, hopefully meaning she won't participate in the games, since it freaked him out the last time to have her in danger. Beautiful love story!

Read this book - you won't be disappointed
I saw an ad for this book and was delighted to see it on Amazon as opposed to a reading app. This book was so much more than I expected. I rarely give 5 stars, but this book deserves it even with some of the editing issues. While noticable, it didn't detract from the story.
I haven't been this engrossed and engaged in a book in quite some time. I loved the character development of not only the main characters but every single person. I wouldn't say there were multiple storylines, but we are given the evolution of multiple people and couples. The main character, Amie, is a strong female lead. She handles everything that is thrown at her - most often with dignity and grace while maintaining who she is and not compromising. I wasn't sure where she would end up or work things out, but it was phenomenal as it unfolded. It was unlike any werewolf book I have read. The male lead isn't even introduced for awhile. The Games were a unique addition, and I was on the edge of my seat with the attention to detail and the imagination of this author. This book traverses nearly 2 decades in its pages, and I actually wished there was more. This is one of those rare books that I wish I could read for the first time again. I highly recommend it.

someone said this book is not a literary work if art and I agree. Somehow amidst all the errors I found myself continuing to turn the pages and I really enjoyed this. Nothing new in werewolf world but very much enjoyed it

Surprisingly well written good romance with adult characters who act like adults. It is a cozy read. And that’s what I was looking for. I’m really glad it’s not as bad as a lot of books in this genre. I really loved this story and writing. It was everything I wanted in a romance. Whatever drama was there was dealt in a realistic mature way. I’m really glad to see most characters having depth and are not shallow and one dimensional characters.
I really hope all of this author’s books share this trait.

Definitely needs editing. Errors all over the place. But if you can look past that there is a pretty decent story there.
Like so many other books in this genre, the main character gets rejected by her fated mate, an alpha. For a pleasant surprise, the main character is NOT an abused, maltreated, downtrodden individual. She has a loving, supportive family, and her pack is not dysfunctional and full of disgusting abuses. James makes the mistake of rejecting Amie, and Amie compounds the mistake by promptly running away. She foolishly thinks that if she just removes herself then the pack will return to normal functioning and there won't be any friction. Which, as any halfway-decent parent knows, won't happen. Her parents don't just forget about her.
Amie starts a new life elsewhere and is appreciated for who she is, with or without a wolf. She shows her worth and helps her new pack grow and overcome numerous problems. Many years pass, and then it's time for the Games, which will force Amie to see James again. Will they reconcile, or will Amie have moved on to someone else, someone wiser?
What I found most interesting was the Games the werewolves in this world compete in every 10 years. This ranks the packs, giving everyone an idea of their strength and smarts. The 10 different tests during the 2-month Games was the best part of the book, I thought. The way Amie's pack worked together to solve problems was very engrossing.
In the end everything works out. Most of the idiots grow wiser and learn from their mistakes. The rotten are punished and the worthy are recognized for their worth.
Of the books I've read in this genre, I like this one best. I like the fact that abuse doesn't have a major role in the story. There are some abuses of pack members, but it isn't in Amie's pack, and it doesn't happen to her. There isn't the usual jealous, spiteful, cruel and manipulative female side character (sister/alpha's daughter/wannabe luna) out to get the main character, poisoning everything with her lies. No hateful, sadistic parents. Finlay, the alpha of Amie's new pack isn't a cold, distant wolf with a scary reputation for cruelty and ruthlessness whose icy heart is melted by pity for his damsel-in-distress fated mate who has been brutally treated. I found that a refreshing change of pace.

I really enjoyed Game of Destiny. From the very beginning, it pulled me in, and the story reminded me of the Olympics—but with a unique twist. I love werewolf fiction, and this one immediately caught my attention.
What really stood out to me was the theme of sacrifice. It’s heartbreaking how someone would give up their own life and happiness just to make sure their family doesn’t suffer. Amie leaves her pack after being rejected by her alpha, believing that removing herself is the best way to protect her family. Ironically, her absence causes even more pain—her family suffers, and so does the pack she left behind. All she wanted was to spare her mother, father, and brother from hurt, even if that meant sending herself away and trying to find a new path.
Amie creates a life for herself in the human world, fully believing she’ll never find her wolf. What makes this story powerful is the realization that she didn’t need to be “fixed”—she needed love and acceptance. Had her original alpha accepted her, their pack could have truly thrived.
Finley’s story mirrors Amie’s in a really compelling way. As the younger brother, he was overlooked and treated as unimportant, eventually being raised by his grandmother. He also leaves his pack—not out of selfishness, but to avoid hurting his family. Watching him build something incredible on his own was inspiring. When Finley and Amie come together, they truly thrive, and your love for them just keeps growing as the story progresses.
Yes, there are a few cringe moments, but they’re worth pushing through. The challenges, competitions, and trials were one of my favorite parts—they really did feel like an Olympic-style series of events. This wasn’t just a love story; it had depth, twists, growth, and purpose.

I liked this book, but it was super long and drawn out. I kept thinking that it had the feel of a pay-per-chapter book, you know that ones that you see ads for on social media. The books that start off super good because that is the part that you see on the ad. So, they hook you in with 5 or 6 awesome chapters and then it goes downhill quickly after that. Well, when I got done with reading this, I googled it and sure enough, it is a pay-per-chapter read. Thankfully this book was good all the way through, it was just so long and could have been edited a bunch to get rid of all the fluff. When it comes to the grammar of the book (because most of the PPC books have so many misspelled words or awful grammar mistakes), it really wasn't too bad. There were some misspelled words here and there but in ratio to how long the book was, it didn't bother me.
The book starts out tragic and heartbreakingly sad as it follows the FMC trying to navigate her life after her mate rejects her because she doesn't have her wolf. It shows how strong she was for leaving her pack and making her life into something. It's touch and go with these rejected mate stories. This book was pretty good and I enjoyed it overall but I won’t lie it took me quite a while to read it as I felt the pace stalled at certain moments so I struggled through. Plus the end though it was a long time coming with Finley’s brother’s death, it also felt like it was done in a rush, rather quickly which was a bit off-putting.
Though I did enjoy the FMC and how she stood up for herself and decided to embark on her own adventure despite the hurt and embarrassment she went through. She never let anything define her and she didn’t just automatically let the mate who rejected her back into her life nor did they end up together in the end which I thought was awesome. It’s part of why I enjoy second chance mates so much because it’s a way for them to start fresh rather than go back to people who hurt them so badly. I get some things can be forgiven but often times I struggle to be truly happy with those type of HEA’s no matter the groveling that took place.
But overall it was a good book and I enjoyed the games and the side character and how each relationship grew especially that of the MMC Finley and the FMC Amie. I didn’t mind the epilogue either, though the pregnancy thing back to back seemed a bit much then again it’s kinda an interwoven part of the wolf culture within this book: a good, secure pack means more pups and births as it shows they’re thriving and safe and all that. All in all, it was a nice read though being completely honest, it’s not one I’d come back to reread.

It’s part of why I enjoy second chance mates so much because it’s a way for them to start fresh rather than go back to people who hurt them so badly. I get some things can be forgiven but often times I struggle to be truly happy with those type of HEA’s no matter the groveling that took place.
But overall it was a good book and I enjoyed the games and the side character and how each relationship grew especially that of the MMC Finley and the FMC Amie. I didn’t mind the epilogue either, though the pregnancy thing back to back seemed a bit much then again it’s kinda an interwoven part of the wolf culture within this book: a good, secure pack means more pups and births as it shows they’re thriving and safe and all that. All in all, it was a nice read though being completely honest, it’s not one I’d come back to reread.

Found this through an ad for online novels for the Astra Novel reading app. Unlike most online reading apps, this doesn't require top offs and coins to unlock new chapters, though there are frequent short ads as a result. Sometimes the ads won't work and you need to restart the app to get the next chapter to unlock correctly, but it's still slightly better than paying for a ton of coins to temporarily unlock a book for reading.
The book itself doesn't have the best formatting or spelling out there, but if you read it just for the story and enjoying the characters, it's constantly moving and evolving, which makes for an entertaining read. Amie has a very unique experience and point of view, which she uses to her own advantage as she makes her way. Finlay was not on her radar at all to begin with, but she ends up drawn to him and her pack. Honestly, if things had turned out differently with the bond, there might have been a revolt from the readers, but it works out very well. There's more than a little bit of drama with twists and turns to keep it interesting. It wraps things up nicely with the epilogue as well, and the story is complete, so it isn't left hanging in addition to the unlocking requirements to read it online.

Game of Destiny is a rather lengthy book that covers a good chunk of Armeria or Amie as she is known as. After her rejection at her 18 party from her mate, she hides in the human world until a visiting alpha finds her and then convinces her to return with him to his pack.
The book definitely kept the attention of the reader even while covering so much time but since it was on one of those horrendous apps it took forever to read. At the same the reader would find the characters with wrong names or misspelled names (looking at Medow the whole book) throughout the book as well as other misspellings. And for a book with multiple POVs there was no truly clear delineation on who was the focus of the chapter.
What probably had me largely confused was the fact that for them to have been wolves there was very little inclusion of their wolf halves even down to the point where their wolves didn't even have separate names or even clearly separate personalities as other authors allow.
Definitely an engaging read and probably a rather quick one if you can avoid the reading app.

Hard to rate
4.25 ⭐️Reading time: 12 hours, 58 minutes , 768 pages.
Rating this was hard. For the first 70ish% of this book, I was pleasantly surprised that the book has a good momentum despite being a slow burn. Very slow. And that was a thought that kept popping into my head as I was read. And until I got to the end of the games, I was set for this being 4.5 stars ( would have been a 5 star but I just prefer more romance/ spicy from the start).
However, everything after the games ( the last 30%/ 260 pages, which is like a whole book) just lost that momentum. A lot of it felt unnecessary, padding or just clumsily trying to fix loose ends. Some became a bit repetitive ( why so many celebrations? Each one out did the one before it and yet it was described exactly the same?). The last 30% really gave 2 star vibes.
Add in the fact it made me cry/ eyes water at multiple parts near the start and I was confused on how to rate this.
Overall, I still rated it high because the majority of it was good, I connected enough with the characters to be affected by what happened to them but was still disappointed by the quality of the writing at the end.

Just finished reading A Game Of Destiny, which is a story I found on a pay per chapter advert. (Side note, they bug me because i KNOW they steal stories, but I read the advert and then get frustrated because I want to know what happened, so I am SUPER glad I got to finish this one!)
It was a sweet story with some action and fun in the middle, some action, some surprises. It was heartwarming and cute, and the storyline was a great mix of small town romance, second chance romance, and fated mates.
I loved the fact that this had the second chance element, WITHOUT the darker element of abuse which often seems to be paired with it.
The book itself would benefit from editing, there are many times where the writing is long winded with no need, there are some grammatical or typing errors, and several points I felt situations could have been condensed. BUT.
The storyline was very good, the characters were great, very individual and a good mixture.
This is one that I would return to as a comfort read! And I would consider more from the Author.

I am so happy to re-read this book. I read it few months ago, on another platform that wasn't kindle, and I wasn't able to find it again. After a LOT of searching, I have found this book again.
Different from most of second chances mate I read this year, this one has a very interesting story with a strong Female character. Red is really very strong in many aspects, and even while young she did had a good maturity. I love the way you can feel the years passing, the characters progressing and you even feel a little sad about James character. Which is for me a super interesting development. As it is very "human like" to make mistakes and to understand that often those have consequences from where we can not run away. Finn is such a supportive Male main character, it is really hard to not fall in love with him at first sight. Martin is also a character I love very much, he was super important for the development of our Red, and as well part of her healing process.
I love re-reading this book, and could finally post a review. For me, this is one of my top 5 books from this year. Looking forward other work by this author.

I wanted to stop reading- but the grammar, cliche, inconsistent, wattpad middle school (maybe even elementary school education) horny teenager vibes kept me reading with horror.
I read it all the way through, so obviously it kept my attention (though it did take me almost 2-3 months. But honestly, don’t waste your time. It reminds me of the first time I tried to write a book at 13, just cringe. And I’m a weirdo who like a (good) werewolf story. This looks like someone ask ChatGPT 1st edition to write a book, had someone read over the first 3 chapters, had AI write her bio, then had it advertised in hope of making money. I spent most of the book trying to figure out what I would write in my review, and yet I still struggle to get my opinion across.

I found this book on Facebook, (or Instagram), and the start of the story is about the beloved daughter of the Beta couple of a werewolf pack, Amie, who had just turned 18. Her wolf hasn’t appeared yet, but that is the age when you meet your mate. The alpha’s son James rejected her, which was heartbreaking, but also caused a rift in her parents’s relationship with the Alpha and his Luna. Her choice to leave is where the blurb ended. The link was to another booksite, where you have to watch annoying ads to keep reading. So happy I found this story on Kindle Unlimited! It was a full length novel with interesting world building, pack politics, and pack placement based on games played every 10 years. Loved it, slow build, but you really get to know all the different dynamics of the characters!

I enjoyed the plot, progression, characters, settings and more. Always like new variations in shifter stories and this one having pack games every 10 years for ranking pack strength and intelligence is a fun variation.
The one grammatical thing would like to see changed is when the author mentions me/l and another person. That is egotistical. It is much politer, grammatically correct, and flows better putting the other person first. Ex: 'Sam and me' instead of 'me and Sam'.
Virtual Voices are getting much better even from a year ago. I definitely like multiple voices, keeps the characters straight in my mind. There are still a few pronunciation errors & a few errors in spelled the same words but pronounced differently, wrong meaning used... BUT you still run into that from living narrators occasionally.

A little tedious and unnecessary long and the editing wasn’t the best as names kept changing throughout the book but very compelling in the way of tv serial dramas where you know they’re milking the plot for all it’s worth but you’re still engaged. I enjoyed getting to know Amie and watch her rebuild her agency after being rejected by her first mate and having to leave her pack. I also enjoyed witnessing the lack dynamics of the Blue Mountain pack and seeing Finn come into his own as an alpha despite the pressures from his evil brother, the alpha of his former pack, neglect from his mother, and being tested when James, Amie’s initially fated mate comes back hoping to win her back.
I read this through one of those webnovel apps but overall enjoyed this wolf shifter romance and I think it’s pulling me back into a sub-genre I haven’t read for ages.

Fabulous Find; would give 10/10
I had originally read parts of this book on one of those odd reading apps. You watch commercials etc.
Then it turned up on Kindle.
Great world building, amazing characters, and plenty of drama. (Not to mention some action and romance.)
One caveat, English is not Lina Ljunggren's native language and is self published. So yes, spelling/word choice mistakes (weary/wary for example) if this is going to bug you.. then pass.
I felt it just gave the book/story more charm. If you read her profile before you read the book you will get some of the references (no spoilers here)
Kudos to the author and following her dream.
Not "smutty" or spicy. Not sure how to rate the sex in the book (yes there is some)
I just know it's not hitting the spice rack . .er rating.

I really wanted to like Game of Destiny, because the premise had genuine potential—but the execution completely missed the mark for me.
The editing was rough. Frequent grammar and spelling errors pulled me out of the story constantly, and the writing itself felt very elementary. It lacked depth, polish, and emotional weight, which made it hard to stay engaged. I almost DNF’d it more than once.
What was most frustrating is that there could have been a strong story here. Instead, everything felt soft and muted—low tension, minimal stakes, and very little actually happening. The plot never really ramped up, and when it ended, it felt like nothing had truly progressed.
Overall, this book felt underdeveloped and poorly edited, which overshadowed any potential it might have had. A solid concept, but not a satisfying read.

Excellent read!
I enjoyed this story very much. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 star rating is because of some spelling, grammar, and continuity issues. Really the only continuity issue is a name change that I don’t even remember its whereabouts now. Spelling was mostly names and while I can accept unusual spellings for names, it wasn’t always the same. While ‘Medow’ is how a character’s name was spelled most of the time, there were a handful of times it was ‘Meadow’. Others were Jessie/Jessy, Raina/Rania. It was distracting. Overall the issues never detracted from the story, just kinda got annoying.

It was a great story, loved a lot of the elements. Not sure if it was originally in English but it needs a lot of editing. Some words didn’t make sense, states in America spelled incorrectly. Also if the book is based in the US the wording and phrases don’t fit. It sounds very British/english. Not a huge deal but it doesn’t fit our speech here as well as all the spelling of words is more British/English or Canadian as opposed to how we spell things in the US. (Favourite as opposed to favorite, also the phrase ‘had done’ isn’t really used here either). It was a great palate cleanser, 3 stars bc I loved the characters but the editing and spelling were throwing me off.
