THE END OF THE LINE! This is it, folks - the last you'll see of Spidey and his Ultimate friends by Jonathan Hickman & Marco Checchetto! That's all we can tell you!
Jonathan Hickman is an American comic book writer and artist. He is known for creating the Image Comics series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as working on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, FF, and S.H.I.E.L.D. titles. I’ll be honest — I was starting to cool on this run.
The beginning of Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man was electric. The middle stretch had me completely locked in. But the last few issues? I wasn’t totally sure how it was going to land and had been getting frustrated with it.
This final issue pulled it together and was a good ending for me.
It’s not a perfect five-star ending for me — probably closer to a strong four — but there’s a lot of goodness here. The threads get polished off cleanly, the emotional beats land, and the action has real energy. It feels purposeful again. Checchetto’s art continues to do heavy lifting — expressive, dynamic, cinematic without losing character.
Most importantly, it has heart. That’s what makes this version of Spider-Man work when it works.
A satisfying finish that reminded me why I loved the start of this run in the first place.

Made myself a fresh cup of coffee and sat in my favorite reading spot for this one. I have been dreading to see this end. This delivered everything that I wanted. The final battle was climatic and felt epic. The fallout was at times, tragic and bittersweet but also hopefull and happy. Hickman delivered on this. His ability to write dialogue that feels genuine and real made this a great read and a wonderful conclusion to the series.
Fitting end to the series. Criticisms are def valid, but I suspect that Hickman anticipated this book to continue after his run. Editorial really fucked him again. MJ and Peter really are a delight and the world building was sick. Wonderful bookend. We’ll see what endgame, Ultimate Finale, Armageddon, and Impact have in store.

a RARE happy ending for Peter Parker, to put it in his own words: he has everything. A fantastic and satisfying conclusion to the Ultimate Spider-Man run.

Finaliza este Ultimate Spider Man.
I’ve been following this series since the very beginning back in 2024. Every month I'd pick up the new Issue, no matter what; it’s been keeping me company throughout college for all this time, and while this is definitely a disappointing ending to what started as a really strong book, I am still so happy to see the journey come to an end after all this time, and Godspeed to the only good Spider-Man comic that was being published at a time where the mainline 616 book was doing crappier and crappier decisions.
You can easily tell that this book was an unfortunate victim of Editorial meddling, the fact that apparently no one working in any of the new Ultimate books was told that the line was ending ahead of time clearly messed with a lot of Hickman's plans and changed the perspective a lot of people had on the book; early on you can tell that he was writing everything with the idea of someone else taking over after he left but Editorial never told him that was never gonna happen. As a matter of fact you can pretty easily tell that with a major event that happens right after Peter's fight with Kingpin, I won’t spoil it but suffice to say that it is clearly a last minute rewrite that was done to tie up a lose end that had previously been left open for other writers to explore.
It is a heartbreaking ending but not in the sense of "wow, so beautiful" more in the sense of "wow, can’t believe they screwed up this badly" but I still liked it. Sure it isn’t perfect but this version of Peter still has some dignity left and is still a great character in my eyes. I will miss you Ultimate Spider-Man. Godspeed.
I liked the issue and think it did a good job wrapping stuff up….. BUT I can’t help but wish it didn’t end. There was a lot of development that was lacking when it came to the characters. Also, a lot of moments didn’t feel as satisfying, which is unfortunate. A lot of specific things such as the month format and the small amount of issues for this entire series didn’t help at all. It was still a great series but I just hate that the potential of this comic wasn’t fully reached, and probably never will because it’s over. I crave for more but we gotta accept reality and just enjoy what we have I suppose. I’ll miss you Ultimate Spiderman :(
Series comes to a close after two years and my feelings are mixed. I liked the fact Peter and MJ were married with children and I liked a lot of the mysteries and reveals throughout the 24 issues, but at times it felt like less a Spider-man book and more like a soap opera in comic book form with a lot of attention given to characters and issues like Uncle Ben, Jameson, the newspaper, Gwen, Harry, villains, etc.. It could have been named Spider-man Family like the 1970’s Superman and Batman series from DC. Art overall was pretty good and it is a shame this couldn’t have gone on for a few more years.
Whomever made the decision to end the second ultimate universe has shot Marvel comics in the foot.
That’s because this series, after 24 issues, was only getting started. This was merely the prologue.
The fact that this series is over when it can go in so many interesting directions and has the potential to be an all-time great is, absolutely, AMAZINGLY, SPECTACULARLY, SENSATIONALLY stupid.
But hey, Marvel Comics making foolish decisions is nothing new. Hope this series continues at some point. If Marvel has any sense they will continue it down the road.
I think this is as satisfying of a conclusion as we could hope to get. Questions remain as to if something will spin off of this. About every plotline gets resolved quickly with a tidy bow so it’s fun to read and overall has been a worthwhile series. It feels like it ended too soon and could’ve had more development, but it is what it is. Peter's story is in an odd place due to his inclusion in Endgame.
The final issue of one of the greatest comics I’ve ever. This series was the first comic I ever read and I’m sos sad it’s over but I’m so happy it had a great ending.
Spider-Man might be one of my favorite superhero’s of time. He’s literally the goat. Alright goodbye ultimate spider man at least amazing spider man is still a good series
Such a great ending to an incredibly well written series. A brilliant reimagining of the Spider-Man mythos. I really hope this isn’t the end of their story.
This is Spider-man to the core. Messy, full of mistakes, but still holding on to the things he loves. He knows that he isn’t perfect, but he doesn’t push away the things that make him better. He’s got a great family and the potential to be so much more than he is.
