**The Complete Duet containing both books, Ever Marked and Ever Bound**
If life’s a game, I’m tired of losing.
Some people are marked for greatness, some have all the luck, and some catch their boyfriend boning his secretary in the middle of the work day.
Sick of being replaceable, I throw a dart at a map and ghost the jerk, ready to build a life that can't be packed up in an hour like I never existed at all.
But my fresh start comes to a bloody halt when I hit a dangerous man with more scars than sense on my way into town, someone that even the hospital is afraid to touch. Add in the ghostly roommate that came with my house, my rugged new boss that’s weirdly obsessed with feeding me, and a shy genius that can create tech that almost seems magical? I finally feel like I’ve found a home worth fighting for.
But my ex isn’t the only one freaking out that I disappeared without a trace.
Knowing I’d never go offline for weeks unless something terrible happened, my gaming partner leaves the virtual world behind to track me down and bring me home with him… even if it means eliminating anyone that stands in his way. It quickly becomes clear that Mercy Ridge is more than just strange, and the people who live here are more than just human.
The craziest part? They claim I’m a supernatural just like them. And their tattoos? Proof they’re my fated mates.
But if I really am what they say? People will stop at nothing to try to claim me to use my powers for themselves, or hunt me down for being a threat.
And if the most dangerous monsters look just like everyone else... can I even trust the four men that claim I'm theirs?

When Ever finds her boyfriend cheating on her, she makes the decision to leave and move to a small town called Mercy Ridge, thanks to a map and a kind man at the gas station where It's nothing like she's ever experienced, and I think even I'd like to live there. She'll meet her mates Arson, who was so funny and a proper kid at time, and they literally met with a bang. Ledger, who will do anything for her but can be a bit of an Alfa sometimes. Then there's Myles, who's so sweet and a little shy and a dab hand at electronics. Then there's Bellamy, whom I'm not quite sure about yet. He's best friends to Ever and a gamer just like her, but I think he's going to find things harder to deal with than her other Mates. but with Ever, who was sush, a strong and independent woman can help face things head on. One minute, they were doing great, then bang you hit me with more that blew me a way. Fantastic characters, old and new. And I liked how We got to learn more about Bellamy and Ledger's past and get to know them better. Which was heart felt, informative, and full of suspense. It was well written, and i loved that little twist toward the end, and i love a story that makes you laugh, especially with Arson, who i think is my favourite out of Evers mates. He's so unhinged and likes a good fight and just makes me laugh. Ever had so much to deal with throughout the story, but i loved how she grew as a person and totally held her own. Especially when the time came to protect the ones she loved. I'm just a bit sad it's over, but I hope she'll write more from this universe, which is Mercy Ridge
Loved this duology., Book one This is a captivating and exciting read that had me hooked from start to finish. Ever is our fmc who’s a gamer and finds her world turned upside down after finding her so called boyfriend doing the dirty with someone else. Uping roots Ever finds herself in the supernatural town of Mercy Ridge and having her eyes opened wide for her. Throw in a shifter, a shadow demon or two and a gamer bestie and you have yourself some hot and spicy time with fated mates. It’s fun and there’s drama, there’s romance, there’s laughter and entertainment along the way, leaving me looking forward to the next book! Book two Book two of this fantastic duet picks up right where we left off and leads us to an incredible conclusion! Ever is an incredible character and her relationships with her mates is a joy to read as they made me laugh out loud on occasion, well maybe a lot of occasions and swoon on others!! It’s an exciting read as mayhem and chaos ensues, there’s twists and turns, humour and sarcasm and intrigue and I really enjoyed every moment.
This duet is perfection!! It's one of those stories that you can't get enough of and I hope we get more from this world and these characters!! The story is not predictable at all, with so many twists and layers! The characters are all strong, yet have vulnerability. And you instantly love all of them! It hilarious and heartfelt. I absolutely loved the strong bonds in each relationship. And it's spicy! Can we please get more from this world because I need it!
I absolutely LOVE when the FMC is a gamer. And Ever is the PERFECT kind. I love her no nonsense attitude when she thinks she might be getting played, and how straight forward and blunt she is when it comes to protecting herself from what she’s put up with before. She’s a refreshing version of the MMC’s we frequently see who had a not so pleasant upbringing, and instead of making her bitter and untrusting, or a damsel, it made her tough and absolutely unwilling to deal with anyone’s crap. The first MMC we see is Arson, who may be my favorite due to his wild combination of violence first, questions later, and puppy personality. It’s a unique combination I’ve never seen before and it WORKS for him so well. Next we meet Ledger who is your typical Boy Next Door vibe, but also has his fiercely protective Alpha vibe. Which is also a unique combination I don’t think I’ve seen before. Myles comes shortly after and he’s almost tied with Arson for my favorites just because it’s always adorable seeing a MMC have the typical FMC personality. He’s shy, and self conscious, but also smart as a whip, talented and goes all in for Ever from the gate. Bellamy is out final MMC and while he’s still somewhat of a mystery, it was heartening to see how long he has cared for Ever, and how much he was willing to risk when he thought she needed help. The End threw me for a loop and now I’m SUPER excited, and also slightly impatient for the next book. The Author has outdone herself yet again.
Why is it only a duet?! I want more sooo badly. I loved this series, world, and the characters in it. We start right where 1 ends, with Ever and Bellamy(love his name, so much) being kidnapped. Ever of course freaks out upon waking, but I’m so proud of the way she handled it. Get em girl. While Ever and Bell navigate the pros and cons of the compound Bellamy lived in, and how it runs, along with some of the secrets it holds, her other mates are on a warpath to get them back. And we get to see just what measures they will take to do that. This book, at least in the beginning, focuses a lot more on Ever and Bellamy’s bond, and its progression. Which makes sense because he’s the newest and hasn’t had as much time. There’s so much that happens in this book though, that it’s hard to leave out spoilers. But when they leave, with an extra in tow, it’s not quite on good terms. Even though Bellamy reassures Ever that she is where he wants to be, we see Ever struggle with what he’s giving up leaving with her. Myles is still my favorite, but Arson, Bellamy, and Ledger all have special places in my heart for different reasons. I loved watching adorable and shy Myles open up and grow in his relationship with Ever. Also watching Arson slowly accept the other guys, in his own special, stabby, but also pretty comedic way. Ledger and his protective energy always bring that safe feeling, and Bellamy seems to remind Ever that there is a balance between guarded and being able to relax. The men all bring perfect balance to Ever and her life. And I couldn’t be happier that they all got their happily Ever after. Some even more so than I hoped. The ending was adorable, sweet, heartwarming, and honestly kind of perfect. That’s not to say I wanted it to end. However it couldn’t have been done any better.
Loved this book, I was sucked in right from the beginning and couldn't put it down!
Everest (Ever) packs up her life after finding her boyfriend in a very compromising position and unfortunately he was the lawyer supposedly negotiating her contract with his company to buy and produce her new games console!
With no idea where to go she drives until she comes across a gas station in the middle of nowhere, intrigued by a holey map on the wall the old guy tells her that people throw a dart to pick a place to escape to, with nothing to lose she gives it a shot and Mercy Ridge is the place she's now headed, with a message from the old guy to pass on to a guy named Ledger.
After knocking a guy over and taking him to the hospital in Mercy Ridge she's given a home and the chance at a life she never expected, unsure if it's all too good to be true or not! She finds herself with a job, some great neighbours and a creepy yet comforting ghost.
As she discovers that the supernatural world really does exist and things like fated mates are real things she realises that she's marked some very interesting people.
Arson is by far my favourite, he's so unapologetically himself and I love how Bell, Myles and Ledger all interact with him.
Bell's actions are often driven by fear and the need to keep himself and Ever safe, but seems to be coming round to the idea of them being a family towards the end of the book.
Myles has low self esteem but is lovely and has a massive heart.
Ledger is a typical shifter that wants to provide and care for them all!
Can't wait for the next instalment, Kearston has definitely done us dirty with that cliff-hanger!
Book 2
Poor Ever, fooled by someone wearing Bell's face and kidnapped to a strange and mystical place. Worried for her mates, she discovers that the kidnapping isn't quite what she thinks! And the real Bellamy's face takes the brunt of that! When her other mates come to rescue them the misunderstanding gets resolved and they head back to Mercy Ridge only for things to get even crazier!
Lots of twists and turns, uncovering of truths, meeting new and old friends and family members, the group have quite the adventure! And I 'm here for all of it!
Loved this duet, the second book is just as good as the first, highly recommend
"You break it, you buy it. Three fractured ribs means I'm officially your problem now. Hospital said so."
'Turns out, keeping people alive is way harder than killing them.'
I loved this story! The author is one of my absolute favourites, and this just confirms it. It's full of amazing characters, brilliant one-liners, and a jaw-dropping cliffhanger (it's part one of a duet).
Ever is a gamer girl, finds her boyfriend with another woman, leaves and ends up in Misty Ridge, only she doesn't know it's a town for supernaturals only. Ever is a brilliant character. She is funny, knows what she wants, and embraces her new life.
I loved how she met Arson, he's the ex-assassin who just blurts out what he's thinking. He's my favourite MMC.
The character development and world building pulls you into the book, and I couldn't put it down. I wanted to finish to find out what happened, but at the same time I didn’t because I didn't want the story to end.
#2 EVER BOUND
Just… wow. Seriously, if you're looking for a book that's gonna make you laugh out loud, but also keep you totally hooked with an amazing story, this is it.
From the first page, I was completely hooked back into Ever's world with her guys. The storyline is absolutely brilliant—it keeps you guessing at several turns, I did not expect the twist, although I knew there might be something going on with that person. But what really makes this book is the humour, the one-liners and sarcasm - this is what makes this author one of my absolute favourites!
The characters..... its quite a collection in the book and I love the found family they start to become, learning each other quirks, but Arson will always be my favourite, and he has all the best lines! The interactions between the guys are just chef's kiss – full of personality and so, so funny! Honestly, I couldn't put this book down.
I was hooked from beginning to end and was the perfect ending for Ever and her mates. I highly recommend this duet.
- PNR RH (4 guys, no MM - shifters, mage, demon) - fated mates - Gamer girl FMC - FMC thinks she's human - Fated mates
There are simply not enough pages to Ever's duet, because I am absolutely not ready to say goodbye to these characters, but alas... I already know I'll be reading these books again in the future when I need something to bring me joy and laughter, and I sincerely hope there will be more books in this world in the future. I'm not only hoping for Sophie's story, or Kiara's, but I would give my left kidney for the story of Ledger's mom...
That being said, we are here to review Ever's story, and there is something to be said about a gamer girl meeting a bunch of guys with questionable morals and watch them conquer the world together, one person at a time. We get some of the cutest and most messed-up meet-cutes, guys who lost some of their marbles along the way but are so amazing you forget all about it (until they start using their words), and men who are so protective they trust no-one and certainly not Ever’s other mates. Some twists in the story were predictable, others left me with open mouth. But whenever I think about this duet, I'll always remember Arson first and foremost, even though Bellamy and Ledger have their own red flags you can only love in fictional boyfriends. I'm pretty sure almost every single quote I highlighted is plucked from Arson's mind. He's scary, weird and hilarious, but wouldn't we all secretly want a man who's willing to burn the world as long as it makes you happy?
"Mystics of Mercy Ridge" feels like a mix of T.S. Snow’s Arcane Mage series with Lyra Winters’ Fate Hollow Academy and a touch of Jarica James and Suki Williams’ Mystic Harbor series. If you like a mix of gaming, technology and magic, like the Arcane Mage series, you’ll love this one. And if you were team Damien in Fate Hollow Academy, Arson is your man this time. For me, this series was the perfect combination of so many tropes I adore. So yeah, I absolutely loved this duet, but I didn't expect anything less from this author. I already can't wait to see what she'll be writing next!
J. Kearston has combined Ever Marked and Ever Bound duology into one book, Mystics of Mercy Ridge. Kearston knows how to write shifters well. I loved this duology. The characters were great, and the story was done really well. A gamer girl discovers the supernatural is real. There's a whole slew of supernaturals, including a pretty rare type. Fated mates with magical tattoos and a big found family. Kearson just kept checking things off my list, and I was there for it.
Ever was pretty cool, MFC. The gamer aspect wasn't just a little tidbit; it was a pretty big part of her personality and was represented nicely in the book. Ever was a little bit of a mess, but I liked her spirit, and she had a great sense of humor. I loved that she took the big supernatural as well as she did. I hate it when the MFC completely loses it and is in denial for a chunk of the story. Ever sort of just rolled with the punches, but not without questioning things. Arson, Ledger, and Myles I liked right away; Bellamy grew on me. However, out of the four, Arson was my favorite. I love a psycho MMC. I have a list, and Arson is now one of my favorite murder puppies.
Of course, I loved the story. There was never any doubt. I read the duology in one day. I was having so much fun that I didn't want to put it down. The story is on the lighter side, so it was easy to read. The first book introduced the characters, built connections, and set up the world. The story got more exciting in the second book. After the cliffhanger in Ever Marked, I was positive that I knew where the story was going, but I was wrong. Ever Bound is set in an entirely new place and has new people. I was blown away by the turn of events; it was one thing after another. Not once did I ever connect those dots. Just, wow. And just when the plot was mellowing, I was taken by surprise, again, by another incredible twist!
The ending was absolutely perfect. Mystics of Mercy Ridge is an excellent series. Ten out of ten. A must-read.
This book was amazing. Right from the start it hooked me and I just could not put it down. We meet Ever she is a bit of a gamer/tech type girl and she find out her boyfriend is cheating on her so she packs up and leaves. Fate lands her in a new town where she meets her fated mates Arson, Ledger, and Myles. Her bestie Bellamy that’s also a gamer ends up in her fated circle as well.
Right from the start I just love Arson. He is over the top funny and I love he is her protector like right from the start. He wants nothing but the best for her no matter what. He is my absolute favorite of the group. He is just a lovable, slightly unhinged, sweetheart that hasn’t really figured out relationships very well but he tries so very hard to make Ever happy and it’s just so sweet. He is absolutely the big reason why I loved this book duo.
As we get further into the story we learn the Ever is more than she seems and ends up trying to figure out how to cope with her new life, mates and also is on the verge of selling her new game design and equipment but of course we have a cliffhanger of an ending that left me with my jaw on the floor.
For the second half of this duo. We start up pretty much where the first book left off and we jump right into the chaos which seems to have taken over Evers life with her group of men. Essentially we get through the misunderstanding that resulted in Ever and Bellamy being taken and the group essentially figures out how to come together as Evers fated mates and learn to be happy. It was an over all great story and fun read and absolutely recommend it. It really could all have been stretched into a longer series with some of the story lines but I really like how everything comes together and honestly feels like a great length for this series.
This was my first time reading J. Kearston, and I have to say, the Ever Duet was absolutely adorable and such a fun surprise. The first book pulled me in with how sweet and light-hearted it was, while the second brought a darker and more emotional vibes that rounded out Ever’s story perfectly.
I loved nerdy Ever, her passion for gaming, and her determination to make her mark in an industry that is still so male-dominated. That part of the story was handled really well and felt both engaging and relatable. Ever is tired of being taken for granted, so she does the best thing for herself and leaves before she can be exploited. No longer content with a transient existence, she decides it is time to put down roots, carve out her place in the world, and make her mark with her gaming console.
On her journey of self-discovery, she stumbles upon a charming but peculiar town and her perfect home. There, she not only finds a sense of belonging but also four incredibly supportive and utterly adorable mates. However, not everything is as it seems, and as Ever uncovers the town’s secrets, she learns she is part of the supernatural world in ways she never expected. That discovery changes everything.
While the first book was light and full of charm, the second dives deeper. I found myself drawn to Ever’s struggle to understand who she is and what “home” really means when she has never truly had one. Her guys are loyal, sweet, and absolutely obsessed with her. I personally enjoyed that dynamic, though it might feel like a lot for some readers.
J. Kearston has created an interesting world with Ever and the mimic concept, and I cannot help but feel there is more to explore in this universe. Overall, this duet was a fun, emotional, and engaging read with lovable characters, sweet spice, and a satisfying ending. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will excitedly read more. This book starts out with action; video game action, but action all the same. It starts with our MFC walking in while her boyfriend is having some special time with another lady and she packs up all her stuff and leaves. Drives around for hours and places her luck in an old dart and map. On her way to her destination she hits Arson who just left the Assassins Guild. They end up in a town that seems too good to be true. Where one gets 3 months free and only $500 a month mortgage payments. I need that in real life lol. She ends up at a town called Mercy Ridge that is full of shifters called mystics. Ever doesn’t know that she is a mystic or that she is a center and can have many mates. She also finds two more of her mates Myles who ends up being Arsons brother and Ledger. Later on in the story Bellamy, Evers gaming friend comes to find her and he is now the 4th mate. He seems a bit off as he plans on taking them away from Mercy Ridge and her other mates. By the end of the book she has only sealed her mating bond with Myles. They go through the book trying to figure out what type of mystic Ever is. Then trying to train her. She tries to make gaming controllers and is really good at it. This book is different from the typical shifter books. This book also ends on a cliffhanger. The second book was fantastic. It starts right up where the last book ends. I am happy that we are able to learn more about Bellamy and Ever’s pasts and families. I was happy that Ledger was able to deal with his father. I wish that the book was longer, but it was fantastic. I hope that the side characters have their own series. Everything I have read so far by this author has been amazing.
I absolutely adored this quirky read. It has mystery, action and the most unlikely, lovable MMC. I laughed out loud SO many times. Arson speaks exactly what's on his mind and it's hilarious as well as endearing. The way they meet is SO unlikely and you can't do anything but laugh your a.. - behind off LOL In the special city of Mercy Ridge, Ever meets wolf shifter Ledger and his roommate Myles, who is an adorable tec genius (and more). She also finds a home. One she quickly finds, that she will have a harder time of leaving, than she has ever experienced before. Being a foster kid, that has always been quite easy for her - pack up and leave the rest behind without a thought or second glance back. Ever's gamer friend, Bellamy is the only person in the world that reacts to the fact that she clocks out of society and disappear. He tracks her down and it almost ends in disaster. But, everything is not as it seems.
Part 1 ends on a cliffie, but in this bundle, you can calmly flip on to the next page and let go. In part 2, the journey continues with a fast pace, high action and all the love. I adore Kiara and truly hope she will have a spin-off! Bellamy's friend could defo have one as well!
Anyway, I loved the character development. The plot was alive and had me hooked. I was both sad that the book ended, but also very satisficed with the end. The idea of pets was very amusing!
I highly recommend this to lovers of WhyChoose romance and lots of mystical action. I loved every page of the journey and it kept me turning pages from I started the book and I didn't stop until there were no more pages. Loved it.
This duet is a must read! I adored everything about it! here I have my review separated by book! Book 1 Oh My Goodness, the way I devoured this book! This was just fantastic and exactly the book I needed to read at the time. It ticks so many boxes. We have a FMC that is a gamer, but not only that, she is brilliant and while not overtly the “strong” type of FMC, she has this inner strength that the authour expressed so well she just shone like a ray of sunshine from the pages. I adored this FMC . And the men! The men that enter her life. Oh My Goodness, from the shadowy stalker, to the tech savvy cutie, to the alpha shifter , ahhh all of it was so so good. I read this in one sitting. The world building, the character development and the building of their friendships and relationships, the plot, all of it is “chefs kiss” . I am so invested in this series , I am so excited to read the next installment. Book 2 I could not wait to dive into this 2nd book and I was not disappointed! I just loved these characters and the growth we got to see in them all as individuals and together in their relationship. Ever has come so far and she deserves so much happiness and her men set out to do just that, They definitely hit some snags, and there were some twists and turns on their journey. I had a few good laughs, especially with Arson and his antics. This was such a great duet. Well written, well paced, awesome plot, I loved everything about it. The magic, the tech, the spice, the humour, the world building , the characters, all of it bundled up in this duet! I do hope we see more of this world!
Oh my god this book was sooooo good! Like hooked from start to finish! So our FMC Ever is a gamer but she’s also a mimic but doesn’t know it yet. She has a gamer buddy online called Bellamy. She catches her bf Adam cheating on her so fleas, she stops at gas station where there is a map that you throw a dart at and where it lands you go! It lands on a place called Mercy Ridge. As she’s driving she crashes into someone Arson who happens to be a shadow demon, she takes him to the hospital. He happens to be one of her mates! Ever is surprised by the rules of Mercy Ridge not knowing about supernaturals! She meets her neighbour Ledger who happens to be her mate too! Aswell as his friend Myles! They have to tell her all about supernaturals as well as figure out what she is. Meanwhile Bellamy her gamer friend is searching for her, and when he finds her he is hesitant of everybody but is also one of her mates!
Ever bound:
After the first book I was dying to read the next, so I was soooo excited when I got it! We learn that those who kidnapped Bellamy and Ever are actually other mimics that Bellamy knew and is friends with. They were taken to Bellamy’s home with other mimics, they believe they are saving Ever but obviously Ever wants to be back with her mates! We learn about Ever’s family which was a shock! I absolutely loved Ever and her mates, especially Arson! They are just so protective and loving! Overall a good ending to the duet.
overall rating 3.5 Ever Marked Everest did not have much luck in her life. After yet another disappointment, she decided she had enough and leaves without trace - only to end up in a place filled with supernaturals. Nevertheless, she refuses to back down and even manages to collect her fated mates, which complement her perfectly and brings everything she was missing into her life. However, she definitely isn't safe yet.. I enjoyed this easy read, with very likable and relatable FMC, four interesting men and quite fast paced plot development. Bonus point for the gamer FMC. The book is full of drama, tension, some funny moments, and the cliffhanger keeps me excited for the second book.
Ever Bound While I loved book one, I could not reach the same level of emotional investment in book 2. Ever's story continued in a more chaotic way. The multiple storylines took away from the focus on the main storyline, making it feel like there is too much packed into too small space. I also couldn't connect with the book as much as with book one, having the feeling in some places the story is lagging, not happening much, then boom an explosion, a lot happened in a short space, and then back to the slower rhythm. Moreover, I was also lacking the connection to the characters that I had in book one. I was looking forward to the book, but unfortunately it lagged behind my expectations, which were quite high thanks to book one.
I just love the convience of boxed duets. So that way I do not even have to stop reading.
Ever Marked Book One
I just love this author and pretty much everything she writes. This is the first book in a duet, and it blew me away. From the second I started reading on my kindle I just could not put it down. It had me captivated. These characters are so amazing. Ever is my favorite new female lead. Honestly I just love her personality and sass. Her mates are different and yet oh so perfect for her. And honestly who does does not love protective guys? I am a sucker for them. So if you are looking for a book to get lost in. With a baddie female lead, amazing guys, and a great plot. Not to mention fast paced, lots of laughing, swooning and a great plot. I think I have found the perfect read.
Ever Bound Book Two
This duology has pretty much everything you want and need for a good read. This is just such a good story from the storyline to the characters.
Ever is such a kick a@@ characters, I mean girl crush really. Combine her with her guys, their chemistry with their family and each other hooked me. This duo is best read in order, with Ever Marked the first book. I promise you, you will love their story just as much as I did.
Ever and her guys have to deal with things that go bump in the night, and they handle things like a boss. I loved this reverse harem series so much, I bet you will too!
This duet took over my whole weekend in the best way. Ever pulled me in from page one with her sarcasm, her honesty, and her refusal to just accept whatever wild nonsense gets thrown at her. She reacts like an actual human being instead of some perfect paranormal chosen one, which made following her through both books feel real and addictive.
And the guys. My god. They each bring something completely different and it works. Ledger with his protective intensity. Myles with that soft brainy sweetness. Bellamy who has been solid and steady since day one. And Arson, who rolls in with pure chaos energy and somehow fits right into the mix. Their chemistry with Ever grows so naturally that by the time things heat up, it feels earned and absolutely worth the slow burn.
The world building is fun, the action never slows down, and the banter had me laughing way more than I expected. Book one hooked me, book two leveled the entire playing field, and the emotional payoff was everything. The fights, the magic, the tension, the found family moments. All of it just worked.
If you want a paranormal RH duet with a heroine who finds her strength, four guys who adore her without smothering her, and a storyline that keeps you locked in from start to finish, this set is it. I’m genuinely sad it’s over because I would have happily read ten more books with this crew.
I was snagged by the amazing cover, intrigued by the gaming aspect, and blown away by the story!! I love this new world and how it is different than any other fated mates story I’ve ever experienced!! Honestly, a lot of paranormal fated mates stories seem to be a wash and rinse and repeat cycle which is fine and still has a twist or something special that makes it unique - but this book is the real deal on unique shifter/paranormal fated mates. Each member of the harem is different and has their own voice, I can remember all of their names and who they are (which is a feat since I have a terrible memory) and even though everyone isn’t jumping to bed as soon as they meet each other we still get a good amount of steamy scenes. So many different tropes combined - if you enjoy paranormal romance prepare to be blown away! To be honest about half way through I was like oh my gosh what could possibly happen next things are finally looking up! And then the shoe dropped and all of the threads I didn’t realize I was still hanging onto were woven into a series of happily ever after moments that will have you grinning for pages!
Book 1: Wow, what an amazing start to a new series! I love Arson, and his goofy psychopathic personality, he had me literally giggling while I read. And Ledger had me drooling. Gotta love a big, protective teddy bear/wolf. I love Ever and her personality, amd the depth of the characters was flawless. Her connection with Myles was perfect, and I loved their chemistry (I have a thing for nerds!). AND THAT ENDING!!!! I tossed my Kindle! I was totally absorbed in the story, and that crazy ending, and now I NEED the next book ASAP!
Book 2: The second part of this duet was a fantastic read. It picks up immediately after the first book, with the kidnapping. I loved seeing Bellamy and Ever bomd more while they are essentially stuck together, and we get to meet Kiara, who is a super fun, secondary character. I absolutely adore Arson, and his tendencies, lol. He is coming around to the other guys, and I love that he starts getting protective over Bellamy, too. A lot of questions get answered, such as Ever's lineage, and they are totally not what I saw coming. The spice was so well done, and I love how they all bonded and it changed their powers! Amazing world building!
I have to admit that this is my first series by this author… But it definitely will not be my last. I DEVOURED THIS DUET… I read it in a little under a day & a half and the only thing I’m sad about is that it’s over. I could have easily read a few more books about this group. I don’t think I’ve highlighted this much of a book ever… The banter was top-tier, and I don’t think that I have ever read a PNR why choose that I have cackled at as much as this series… I cannot get enough of Arson and all of his antics… I loved how Myles grew through the duet… And Ledger….sooooo hot want to touch the hiney….I love me a wolf shifter….Also wouldn’t mind a lil Cyrus novella either to follow up with some things… also does Serafina have a series? Because that would be awesome! I have so many questions because I want so many books of all of these side characters. I just cannot get enough of this world… So please, can I have some more? And oh my God! That plot twist at the end I did not see coming… And I’m usually really good with plot twists… So color me surprised… In the best and worst way. Well done! Question, Does Ledger’s mom have a book/series cuz i would read that in a HEARTBEAT 😂
Ever Marked and Ever Bound all in 1!!! Ever Marked The plot was original and addictive. It held my attention all the way through. Ever was a great FMC. She was smart, confident, and I loved her sense of humor. Arson, Ledger, Myles, and Bellamy. I loved how different each of the MMCs were. This story had lots of humor, unknown, action, a bit of spice, and lots of supernatural. I think this was a perfect introduction to Ever's story! I can't wait for what comes next!!
Ever Bound What a fantastic ending to Ever's story!! I was captivated from beginning to end. This book had action, lots of feels, humor throughout, a few twists, and some revelations. We get more spice too! I absolutely adored and loved Ever. She is one of a kind. I love her mates too. Each one played an important role and I loved their differences. Most importantly, we see Ever and all her mates come together. The way they come together, in all their crazy, and the family they become!! It's safe to say, I loved it all!!
Awesome duet! Book 1: Such a good book! The little shrouded town of Mercy Ridge sounds too good to be true with all it offers newcomers. Ever was pretty funny with her rants & banter. Arson was supposed to be a scary guy but was more like an overgrown child but hilarious antics too. Myles was sweet but could protect Ever. Ledger was like the Daddy (Arson even said so lol) of the group taking care of everyone. Bellamy has some control issues, which to him come from a place of survival of their kind but I still didn’t care for him much. Left on a crazy cliffhanger.
Book 2: The beginning with that recap should be how stories are told from not on cause that kept my attention & made me laugh. I neeed more of Mercy Ridge. There were some great new characters added to this one that I would love to see more of in their own story. Out of Ever’s guys, Arson was my fav cause he is chaos incarnate & super hilarious. Absolutely died at his shenanigans with his “pet” & was super funny that her grandpa helped “take care” of him too lol.
Didn’t want to put this down! 10 stars! Honestly, I have not been a fan of this author. Until now. This story is a go from the start and I am hooked! I love the no nonsense of Ever. One shot and you’re done. Screw it up and she vanishes, like a ghost. How she meets Arson is a fantastic blip in her life. Ellis cracks me up! There is some great character building which makes you love or hate them with severe intensity.
Ending on a cliffhanger…GAH!! Luckily, you dont have to wait for book 2...
Book 2
This duet finale ties up all the loose ends and those you didn’t know were loose. The things you do know, no longer seem real. Gargoyles, mimics, mages, shifters, demons, the list goes on; all players between these pages.
When hates drives judgement, nothing good can happen. The unknown is scary and causes reactions and overreactions that have a ripple effect spanning generations. A clear head and good examples can steal a persons prejudices. Many surprises and twists in this book.
I originally read this duet individually, so getting to experience Mystics of Mercy Ridge as a complete set felt like an absolute treat. This world is packed with a cast of uniquely vibrant characters, and watching them slowly shift into a true found family was one of my favorite parts of the journey. Their quirks, their banter, their loyalty it all just works.
And listen… Arson? Forever my favorite. He steals every scene he’s in and somehow manages to deliver all the best lines. The interactions between the guys are pure chef’s kiss full of personality, humor, and that chaotic charm that makes you want to reread conversations just to enjoy them again.
Honestly, I could not put this book down. Lovers of WhyChoose romance, mystical action, and character driven storytelling are going to devour this. Every page was a thrill, and I was hooked from the first chapter until I ran out of pages to turn.
Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend. ❤️ 📌 Voluntary review no compensation, just one reader who unexpectedly and wholeheartedly fell in love with this story.
Ever Marked - book 1 A cheating Ex-boyfriend and a fresh start leads Ever (FMC) to Mercy Ridge. A small insular town that has its own secrets and ways of dealing with things. More problems come in the way of Arson who seems to have latched onto Ever, a ghost and two next door neighbours - Ledger and Myles. All of which have an instant connection to her. As well as a gaming friend - Bellamy. This certainly brought on some great dynamics between all of them as well as plenty of steamy scenarios too that all ended on a great cliff-hanger ending.
Ever Bound - book 2 My word was everything thrown into this last book in this duet. Ever (FMC) is still trying to work out her strengths and how each of her guys fit into that. Mixed into that we're plenty of plot twists and turns, lots of laughs and some wth moments too which tied into it all perfectly. I really enjoyed reading this duet. Ever and her guys made for a brilliant read even if I'm sad to see them go.
Ever Marked is the first book in the Mystics of Mercy Ridge series and it was a hoot! The FMC Ever finds herself needing a change when she literally witnesses her boyfriend being unfaithful. Getting off the grid is the best option, so she randomly goes to Mercy Ridge. This is where she meets four men who will change her life forever including helping her realize that much like the inhabitants of this town, she is more than human.
Ever and her four mates have been through a lot, and Ever Bound continues the crazy in book 2 of the Mystics of Mercy Ridge duet! The growth of the characters individually and as a team was exciting to see continue to develop throughout this story. There was a lot of humor throughout this duet and it was so well placed that I really had an enjoyable time reading.
I found the storyline and characters to be extremely interesting and unique, and both parts of the duet hooked me in! While Ever and her men's story had ended, I can see this world being expanded on in future books and I look forward to coming back into it all if that happens!
The Mercy Ridge Duet is a combination of 2 books that complete the series
Book one - Ever is the perfect sassy FMC who you watch grow into herself through the pages, her fated mates are each delicious in their own way from geeky Myles to super hunky Ledger and the Unhinged Arson... Bellamy I'm not such a fan of but there's potential there and I have a feeling il cone to love him a little more in book two...
With a range of different Supernaturals with a range of different powers all rolled into the expertly written world the author has created I see really amazing things from this series!!
Book two did not disappoint. I loved the characters in book one and book two did not differ. Im just sad that its the end. I loved the multi POV and the range of different sups not to mention the reverse harem and great storyline. A really enjoyable read that I have no doubt I will read again!
Having both books in one is there perfect way to binge this series... I highly recommend giving it a go!
Ever Marked: Leave it to J. Kearston to break me out of my reading slump! I've had a rough few weeks connecting with a book, but the second I picked up Ever Marked, I was HOOKED! Ever is a character that you can't help but fall in love with and root for. We go on this journey with her, uncovering this magical new world with her... it makes her even more relatable. Add in her uniquely wonderful mates & a book world to match, and you've got yourself one heck of a read! Now, I'll be impatiently waiting for book two because that ending was brutal!
Ever Bound: The conclusion to Ever's story begins where we left off in book one; Ever waking up after being kidnapped. && ALL the drama that occurs after that. We get answers to questions, character & group development and a HEA. Honestly, I really wish this series was longer, I would have liked more time with these character and this book world... I'm a bit sad to see them go but I really enjoyed this duet ❤️
𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: After walking in on her boyfriend cheating on her, Ever heads to Mercy Ridge to start fresh. Little does she know that the town is full of supernaturals, and that she's one of them!
Honestly, didn't expect much out of Ever Marked, I went in pretty blind, but was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this? Ever is so weird and quirky, and her men folk are absolutely rabid for her. I ate that up!
𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Holy cannoli Ever Bound was absolute chaos! Things pick up right where we left off in Ever Marked, and just don’t stop.I feel like so much happened in such a short amount of time that there definitely could have been a third book BUT I still had a great time and I’m so sad to see Ever and her men go ☹️
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧: - supernatural why choose - human (or so she thinks) gamer girl - myth status rare supe - shadow daddy demon - alpha shifter - tech mage - insta love - obsessive/possessive fated mates
I loved this book!! Ever is such a fun and authentic FMC. I love her inventive gamer side. When she stumbles on Mercy Ridge she’s just looking for a fresh start and she has no idea who she really is. She meets her mates all one by one without understanding who they are to her but feeling the connection to each. Arson has my whole heart though! I loved him so much, he was so unhinged lol. I’m hoping for more stories in Mercy Ridge!
Ever Bound
Ever’s story will be one that I come back to reread in the future. I loved the characters, the universe and the backstory. In this book, we get all the answers to the questions we’ve had, primarily about Ever’s parentage. It’s very surprising once everything comes to light. No matter what, Ever and her group are a solid unit and stay true to themselves. We met some new characters in this book as well and I hope we may see some spin offs!
