Photographer Hannah Donovan left Oyster Bay with a broken heart and a dream that never came true. Now, back in town for her cousin Bridget’s wedding, she’s struggling to mend relationships with her family and put recent disappointments behind her. Love is the last thing she has on her mind, especially when the local gossip mill starts hinting at a reunion between her and Danny Fletcher. If there’s one motto Hannah lives by, it’s never to make the same mistake twice.
Dan hasn’t seen his high school sweetheart since she fled Maine for the West Coast more than a decade ago. Now a single dad left stinging from a divorce, it seems every meddling matchmaker in town is determined to see him settled down. Hoping to shut down their efforts, he proposes a plan to Hannah that should give them both a little peace: they’ll pretend that they’re dating. But playing the part of a happy couple makes Dan start to think about what might have been…and what could still be.

This Thing Called Love by Olivia Miles is book four in the Oyster Bay series, another enchanting installment! Oyster Bay is the perfect setting, with its sandy beach, ocean view, quaint town square, and of course the Harper House Inn, and all the characters we’ve come to know and love, especially the Harper sisters, Abby, Bridget, and Margo. Each book stands alone but if you are like me, once you read one you will fall in love with Oyster Bay and want to pick up each book! This book follows semi-estranged sisters Hannah and Evie, but mostly Hannah, who are cousins of the Harper sisters. Each are back to town for Bridgets wedding, each nursing broken hearts over broken dreams and regrets about the past. Hannah is faced with daily encounters with her ex, Dan, and begins to wonder if second chances really do exist when she begins spending time with him and his adorable daughter Lucy. Evie is swept into a summer romance, pulled between two worlds as she temporarily abandons her home-body nature. Will Hannah and Evie reconnect their sister bond? And will Hannah and Dan’s trip down memory lane stick? This is the kind of book that you can’t put down, makes you root for the main characters and delivers a happily ever after! Happy Reading!
Book 4 with Bridget and Jack getting married. We are introducedto Cousins Hanna and Evie. Their story was another involving split families and past relationship for Hannah. Hannah and Dan had been high school sweethearts. They ar reunited in this story and Dan now has a small Daughter from the short relationship that had occurred whileDan and Hannah were apart. Another cute story with the beach as the background. The beach location is what makes these stories such an escape for me. Enjoy
This book is a delightful return to Oyster Bay. Hannah and Danny had lost their young love when decisions and circumstances had life changing results. Both did what they had to do at the time. Now Hannah is back in Oyster Bay and both are unattached. Do they have a second chance at love? A fun, easy read.
Very nicely written. Enjoying the series. But the endings come up very quickly. Leaving longing for more juicy tidbits to cling to. I like the addition of extended family characters to the story line.
Really liked this book. Olivia is a good story teller and great description. After reading several of her books I feel she has great style. I will continue to follow Olivia Milex
