From the USA Today bestselling author of Feels Like Home and Christmas at the Cottage, comes the next installment in the Oyster Bay series.
Wedding planner Chloe Larson is perfectly content helping other women find their happy endings. Love is the last thing on her mind, especially when she has a business to grow. But when a charming suitor sweeps her off her feet—literally—at a friend’s wedding, she begins to see firsthand what all the hype is about.
When the opportunity to plan a high-profile wedding is presented, Chloe is thrilled to take on the task, especially when a competitive business moves into Oyster Bay…that is until she learns that the groom is Nick Tyler—the very man she has been hoping to run into again.
As plans get underway, the groom isn’t the only one having doubts. Chloe has always been risk adverse, but now, she may have to take the greatest chance of all…to save her business and her heart.

I love the Oyster Bay Brides series. Like the first two, the reader cares about the characters and reads quickly wanting to discover how love will be found. My complaint is that usually Ms. Miles has a fuller back story for the two main characters. The female main character would not fall in love at first sight. First, she quickly learns he is engaged. Second, her parents marriage she saw as damaged, making her cautious. Their actions were too fast to be fully believable. Still, it was an enjoyable read.
Had To Be You is the third book in the Bayside Brides series, which is a spin-off of the Oyster Bay series, by Olivia Miles. The story is set in the charming seaside town of Oyster Bay off the coast of Maine, with its lovely Victorian homes and businesses, and characters we’ve come to love. If you love small town series then you will absolutely love this book! This book follows Chloe, co-owner of Bayside Brides, and she is all business all the time from hours logged at the bridal shop, to pristinely cleaning her apartment, to her diet and workout regimens....To say that Chloe is a perfectionist is an understatement, but such is her motto, give Brides the perfect wedding of their dreams. Chloe doesn’t make much room in her life for being social and definitely not for love until she bumps into it, literally. Enter Nick. He would be the perfect guy if he wasn’t engaged and to make matters worse, Chloe is the wedding planner! As the two spend more time together on wedding details it becomes clear that the bride and groom to be are all wrong for each other, and not just because the groom and the wedding planner are growing fond of one another! Nevertheless, Chloe pushes down her feelings and uses this new found excitement in a different way - by loosening her strict regimen, and trusting in the success of Bayside Brides to shine above new local competition alongside her wonderful staff (Melanie and Sarah). Nick, without even knowing it, helps Chloe discover a side of herself that is happier, whether she gets the guy or not. But Oyster Bay/Bayside Brides always delivers a happy ending for our heroes and heroines so read on for Nick and Chloe’s. This book is set in August and is the perfect summer escape. Happy reading!
This is a heartwarming, feel good romance between a woman too busy building her business to have much of a personal life and a man who discovers he’s in a relationship that is feeling more wrong than right. I have enjoyed the Oyster Bay series and the “friends” I’ve made there, and this book is a nice wrap-up of the Bayside Brides trilogy that is part of the larger series. I’m hoping there will be more adventures and love coming from Oyster Bay. Well done, Olivia Miles.
The ending was too abrupt. After being involved in these characters struggles s & growth, we need more than just a paragraph of a promised he for a happily together. That's why only 4 stars verses 5
2.5 stars. As terrible as they are in real life, there is something intriguing about romances where one is already “taken.” I liked that this book was a light read. I thought it got a little too sappy near the end but I liked the main characters, Chloe and Nick.
Love this series. This is a town I'd love to live in and people I'd become friends with. I hope this author continues with this series. Looking forward to reading more books by her.
