"I DO...I DON'T...I DO?"

RUST CREEK RAMBLINGS

The fallout from last month's wedding-to-end-all-weddings continues. Did you hear that Claire Strickland and her oh-so-handsome husband, Levi Wyatt, have called it quits? Everyone thought these two were the perfect couple with the most perfect baby. One minute they were together, the next there was a poker game and then... What could have possibly steered these two young lovebirds off course?

Even though they are on the outs, rumor has it that Claire and Levi have both taken up domicile at Strickland's Boarding House. We find this behavior highly suspect--and everyone in town is weighing in, too! So don't pack your suitcases yet, dear readers--we have a feeling this love story is far from over!

Marie Rydzynski-Ferrarella
aka Marie Charles, Marie Michael, Marie Nicole, Marie Ferrarella

Marie Rydzynski was born on March 28 in West Germany to Polish parents. She moved to America at the age of four. For an entire year, Marie and her family explored the eastern half of the country before finally settling in New York.

Marie swears she was born writing, "which must have made the delivery especially hard for my mother." From an early age, Marie's parents would find her watching television or tucked away in some private place, writing at a furious pace. "Initially, I began writing myself into my favourite shows. I was a detective on '77 Sunset Strip,' the missing Cartwright sibling they never talked about on 'Bonanza' and the 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.' before there was a 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.,' not to mention an active participant in the serialized stories of 'The Mickey Mouse Club.'" Marie began to write her first romance novel when she was 11 years old, although she claims that, at the time, she didn't even realize it was a romance! She scribbled off and on, while dreaming of a career as an actress.

Marie was only 14 when she first laid eyes on the man she would marry, truly her first love, Charles Ferrarella. During her days at Queens College, New York, acting started to lose its glamour as Marie spent more and more time writing. After receiving her English degree, specialising in Shakespearean comedy, Marie and her family moved to Southern California, where she still resides today.

After an interminable seven weeks apart, Charles decided he couldn't live without her and came out to California to marry his childhood sweetheart. Ever practical, Marie was married in a wash-and-wear wedding dress that she sewed herself, appliqués and all. "'Be prepared' has always been my motto,"the author jokes. This motto has been stretched considerably by her two children, Nikky and Jessi, "but basically, it still applies," she says.

In November of 1981, she sold her first novel for Harlequin. Marie, who now has written over 150 novels, has one goal: to entertain, to make people laugh and feel good. "That's what makes me happy," she confesses. "That, and a really good romantic evening with my husband." She's keeping her fingers crossed that her reader's enjoy reading her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

I have never hated a main character in a book before this book. The Heroine, Claire, is immature, spoiled, SHALLOW, and just an all around rotten person. She's a stay at home mom who doesn't cook, and isn't a very good mom. Her 8 month old baby cries and fusses....when she's around her mother, but is sweet and cooing with her father and grandparents. She's more concerned about her hair and makeup than being a wife and mother.
in one part of the book the author states "why would he want to stay with a flighty,quick-tempered woman, even if her makeup was always perfectly applied and she never had a hair out of place? The simple answer was that he wouldn't" and I don't blame him a bit. Levi did NOTHING wrong, yet this shrew he's married to throws her wedding ring in his face, kicks him out, then moves away. He deserves more than Claire.
When it got to the 'intimate' scenes, I was hoping against hope that there would be some mention of birth control, because this woman shouldn't have kids...at ALL. I feel so sorry for the one she already has.
This is the second book in the Montana Mavericks: What Happened at the Wedding series and I'm glad the rest of the series is written by other authors. While I still want to finish this series to see if they ever figure out who spiked the punch at the wedding reception, I'd recommend anyone else reading this series to skip this book, besides "feeling a little lightheaded" this storyline has nothing to do with the concept of this series.

Good book, a little different than most. In this case, Claire and Levi are already married, but have run into problems. During July's big wedding, Levi got involved in a poker game and stayed out all night. Claire was especially angry, as she had arranged to leave their 8 month old daughter with her grandparents so that she and Levi could have a night out. Now she's taken their daughter and is staying with her grandparents, leaving Levi wondering what the heck happened.

I felt bad for both Levi and Claire. They've been married for two years and have an eight month old little girl. Levi works long hours to make sure that he can support his little family. He has some security issues resulting from his father walking out when Levi was young. He has always felt that it was somehow his fault. He worked hard to help support his mother and brothers, but still feels that he isn't good enough to have someone stay with him. Having Claire walk out on him reinforces those feelings. He truly loves her, and I felt sorry for him when Claire went off on him. He had no clue why she was so mad.

I was frustrated with Claire a lot of the time. I understood her anger when Levi went to the poker game, but she did a terrible job of telling him why. She simply expected him to understand. Even when he asked her straight out, she didn't really explain in ways he could understand. It felt like she was too ready to give up on them. Claire had her own security issues. She had always been very conscious of the way she looked, and made sure that she always had her makeup on when she was around Levi. She didn't believe that she was pretty enough for him to stay with if she didn't. She believed that his long work hours were because he was getting tired of being with her.

I liked the fact that Levi didn't give up on them. He decided that he would go where she was and try to find a way to work things out. I liked seeing the way that Claire's grandfather was determined to help Levi however he could, even though it ticked off Claire's grandmother. There were times when I wasn't sure if her grandmother wanted Claire and Levi back together or not. I did like her no nonsense attitude, and the way she told Claire to stop feeling sorry for herself. Claire knew that she still loved Levi, but didn't think he wanted her any more. Their time at her grandparents' gave them a few chances to clear things up. They would make some progress, but then Claire would freak out again. I liked seeing her grandmother finally make Claire see a different way of looking at her marriage. The ending was good, as they finally learned how to actually talk and listen to each other.

Waste of time. Read the first chapter and the epilogue. All the chapters in between are a never ending repeat of shallow behavior while waiting for Claire bear to realize she’s an adult.

"Do You Take This Maverick? (Montana Mavericks: Rust Creek Cowboys, #7) by Marie Ferrarella is a continuation of the series. It can be a read alone or as a part of the series. If this is your first read I recommend the previous books also as they describe the city and other characters in a more indepth way.
This is Clare and Levi's story. After the wedding where everyone acted out of character Claire went home drunk and alone while her husband went out with the guys to play cards. She didn't understand why he would want to be with the guys rather than at home with her especially since their baby was spending the night elsewhere. This starts the downward cycle of their marriage.
What no one mentioned about Claire's behavior is that it is characteristic of postpartum depression. After giving birth she is with her daughter 24/7 because she is breastfeeding. She doesn't have any time with her husband because he is working hard to keep a roof
over their heads. Neither one of them talks about their insecurities and it comes between them and their marriage.
This book was really good, slow at times, but it made me want to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I really liked it.

Not her usual engaging story. Had a hard time getting into the story-Claire was a little too shallow and dramatic for my taste. Felt her one-sided arguments were a little irrational, her leaving without really explaining to Levi why she was going just seemed thin. Her refusing to communicate with Levi really put me off this book, which is bad since Marie Ferrarella is one of my favorite authors. I was so tired of the woe is me Claire that I was hoping Levi would leave, I know part of it was to show her immaturity but it got old fast. I understand that she felt the Rekka was her life, but her attitude was as if the baby was 8 weeks not 8 months, and smothering her. Lots of flaws in the story line for my taste.

Claire Strickland thought her marriage to Levi Wyatt was over and done.. but she found out that he love her no matter if she was wearing makeup or not. she found out he was working hard to take care of her and Bekka, but they found out the way back into love and each other hearts. I am an hopeless romantic and I believe in fighting for the man that you love no matter the risk.

The story was ok. I thought Claire was a bit stuck on herself. She learned lessons the long way. The story also makes clear the=at in order for a relationship to work, you need to communicate with honesty.
