Christine Rimmer opens this year's Montana Mavericks series with a story of friends to lovers. Jordyn and Will, both from Thunder Canyon, are now living in Rust Creek Falls. Jordyn has been there for a couple years, having arrived after the Flood to help rebuild. She's settled in well, and is happy, except for the lack of romance in her life. Will is a new arrival, having just purchased a ranch nearby. Both are at the wedding reception in the park, Jordyn as a bridesmaid and Will as a guest, when they run into each other for the first time in years.
Jordyn and Will grew up together in Thunder Canyon. Will remembers Jordyn as his little sister's best friend, and is stunned at what a beautiful woman she has become. He still feels a bit protective of her, and swipes the cup of possibly spiked punch she's been drinking, then asks her to dance. He enjoys the dance so much that he keeps dancing with her, and they keep drinking the punch. At one point he lays a kiss on her that leaves him gobsmacked. Jordyn was surprised to see Will in Rust Creek Falls, and to learn that he's moved there. She can't believe he's still trying to boss her around, taking her punch from her and frowning at the cowboy she'd just been dancing with. Sure, she'd had a crush on him when she was a kid, but she's past that now, isn't she? Until he kisses her, and suddenly that crush isn't so far in the past. Continuing to dance with him seems like a swell idea.
That is, until she wakes up in bed with him the next morning with no idea how she got there. Worse yet, it seems that they are married and neither of them can remember actually doing it, though they have the license to prove it. To top it off, most of the town witnessed the wedding, so they have to continue the marriage, at least for awhile, until they can figure out how to end it discreetly. To do that, Jordyn moves into Will's new ranch with him.
I loved seeing the two of them move from friends to lovers. At first they're horrified by what happened, but it isn't too long until the marriage starts to grow on them, though neither is quite ready to admit it. Will feels guilty because he thinks he took advantage of her. He tells her they should stick it out for a couple months to make sure she isn't pregnant, then they can get divorced and go on with their plans. The problem is, he likes her, and he likes having her there with him. And he really likes kissing her, and wishes that he could keep on doing it. That makes him feel even guiltier and he can't make up his mind whether to push her away or drag her even closer.
Jordyn is just as unnerved by what happened. She had been holding out for true love to take that final step, and now she can't even remember it happening. She feels guilty that he's trapped in a marriage with her when he hadn't planned to get married just yet, and she's determined not to hold him to it any longer than necessary. But she is sure enjoying the kisses that they share and is beginning to wish for more. Every time that she thinks that will happen, he pulls back and that really confuses her. She starts trying to think of ways she can get him to follow through.
I loved seeing how easily they slipped into living together. It was obvious that they really belonged together. Will was so worried about taking advantage of her that he frequently was rude to her. I loved that she didn't let him get away with it. When Will finally realized that he was in love with Jordyn he was reluctant to say anything because he didn't think she felt the same way. By the time Jordyn admitted her feeling to herself, it was almost too late. I loved the final scene where they finally got together, it was so perfect for who they were.
The Maverick's Accidental Bride by Christine Rimmer is a 2015 Harlequin Special Edition publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you follow my reviews you have heard me say time again how much I love friends to lovers stories and I never grow tired of them. This one, though, has a unique spin on it when Jordyn and Will meet one another at a wedding after years of separation. Jordyn has now grown into a beautiful young lady and Will has recently built a ranch at Rust Creek Falls. But, when they imbibe some really strong punch at the reception, they wake up the next morning horrified to discover they are married, with a license to prove it. So, of course they get legal advice only to discover it won't be as easy to dissolve the marriage as one might think. So, there's nothing they can really do except stay married for a few months, which proves to be more of a challenge than they bargained for.
This is a delightful story, and it was so fun to watch these two trying to convince everyone the marriage took place by mutual consent and they were in love. Will fights his very real attraction to Jordyn hard and to keep from ruining her innocence he could be rather abrupt and kind of mean. But, what started off as a pack of lies, soon began to develop into something else. So, Will finally stops fighting his feelings, but Jordyn has plans and being married will prevent her from pursuing her dreams. Can Will convince her to stay married or will he have to bow out gracefully?
You will love watching this couple fall in love, struggle to accept that reality, then finally give in to what has been there all along. I loved the push/ pull in the relationship, the banter, the dialogue and the chemistry sizzles between this couple. The HEA was just right and left me with a smile on my face. If you like contemporary western, with super sexy ranchers, friends to lovers stories and pure romance, this one will not disappoint. 4 stars
I think this is the most fun I’ve had with a novel in quite a while. Rimmer has created a fantastic tale based on a remarkably one of a kind premise. I laughed, I had tears in my eyes. I really enjoyed being drawn into this town and its happenings. The various different aspects of the stories all melded together in the most intriguing of manners. The premise of the series as a whole was intriguing as well. Although this story was wrapped up nicely in and of itself, I was definitely left wondering what exactly happened at the wedding.
If the plot itself wasn’t intriguing enough, the characters had me hooked from beginning to end. Their sweetness and realism, combined with the convoluted situation that they find themselves in was priceless. I loved seeing them come to grips with their real feelings while at the same time dealing with their fears.
This was an intriguing and fun while at the same time in your face and hard hitting. Romance and misunderstanding vie for top spot in this unforgettable romance.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Another fun pair find love in Rust Creek. Jordyn and Will have know each other for years – really since childhood. Will is slightly older and has always treated Jordyn as a little sister. Jordyn always thought Will was too bossy. Then something changes. The punch is spiked and they get married. The only problem!! Neither remembers exactly what happened.
The setup is fun. The characters are both very nice people. The love story is touching. Sometimes you really don’t recognize your match until something unusual happens. Maybe the accidental wedding was not that big an accident after all. A nice enjoyable story that keeps the Rust Creek romances going.
"The Maverick's Accidental Bride" written by Christine Rimmer is a delightful story of Will Clifton and Jordyn Leigh Cates. This couple has known each other forever. They are both from Thunder Canyon but have relocated to Rust Creek Falls. Will and Jordyn Leigh meet again at a wedding. They spend time reconnecting, dancing, laughing, kissing and drinking punch. However, the couple wakes up with the shock of their life. They were married. Just what was in that punch? Will and Jordyn Leigh have no idea what happened. They aren't even sure if they did the horizontal mamba. Will suggests that they stay married for the summer, just in case the stork has decided to pay them a visit. Jordyn Leigh was okay with that but she had big plans at the Summer's end to move away and go to college.
By the time, Will and Jordyn Leigh find out that the stork isn't coming, the couple really doesn't want to get a divorce. However, neither wanted to own up to their feelings. Jordyn Leigh kept nagging Will to fill out the paperwork for dissolution of the marriage . Hoping that Will would bare his soul and confess his love for her. Will was playing his own little wait and see game because he had already filled out the papers but hadn't told Jordyn Leigh because he doesn't want her to leave. He was trying to buy time with her. One of the things's I enjoyed about Jordyn Leigh was her love for the animals that were left at the ranch. For example, when she cut up the chicken that Will had bought for dinner to the barn cats. Jordyn Leigh had such a sweet heart. One of the thing's I loved about Will was his reaction when he found out his brother had once had a crush on Jordyn Leigh. A little green monster reared it's head and made him realize his feeling for Jordyn Leigh.
At first, the couple had to fake being happy but as time passed they really fell in love and were able to establish a home on Will's dream ranch. Jordyn Leigh realized she could still have her dream and a family too. She could do anything with love of a good man by her side. Christine Rimmer does it again, proving that sometimes life's best surprises and fate jump in to give Will and Jordyn Leigh, the love of a life time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that believes that something's are just written in the stars and when you least expect it fate gives you that love you have been hoping to find.
The Maverick’s Accidental Bride is Christine Rimmer’s contribution to the Montana Mavericks: What Happened at the Wedding series. Jordyn Leigh Cates has known Will Clifton since childhood. Will is a little older than Jordyn and as they grew-up she thought he was somewhat bossy. They haven’t seen one another for some time when they find themselves at a wedding where Jordyn is a bridesmaid. Will discovers Jordyn at the punch table where they both share in the punch. Little do they know it, but the punch is spiked and the next thing they know they wake up married. Will has put off falling in love until what he believes is his ideal situation. He wants to own a ranch and be financially sound. Jordyn has put off her dreams of going to college. Little do they realize but Will’s life-long dream of owning a ranch has just happened, and he doesn’t put two and two together until he’s actually fallen for Jordyn. And Jordyn realizes that she doesn’t have to go away to college to have what she wants. I loved both of the characters and I enjoyed the way Ms. Rimmer weaved us down the path of them discovering what their hearts were telling them all along. One of my favorite themes is friends to lover’s stories, and this one is one of the best that I’ve read in a long time. I highly recommend The Maverick’s Accidental Bride as I read it in one sitting. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of The Maverick’s Accidental Bride in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book was a fast and fun read. I like it when an author takes old friends, and throws them together as a couple. In this case, that is exactly the way it happened.
Will Clifton hadn't seen Jordyn Cates in a very long time. The last time he saw her she was leaving to go to her Senior Prom. Now standing in front of him was a woman full grown, and she was beautiful.
Jordyn, immediately knew who the voice belonged to that was speaking right behind her. Will Clifton, was still as handsome as ever in his jeans, and shinny boots.
Jordyn and Will spent the evening together talking, dancing. They had a wonderful time at the wedding. The only thing that is bothering them is they do not remember how they ended up in bed together, and married to boot.
I enjoyed this story! This book was the first book I have read by Christine Rimmer. I feel she did a wonderful job developing the characters. I loved that Will and Jordyn had know each other since they were kids. There were a few ups, and downs through out the story (to married, to get a divorce, am I pregnant?). The author pulled it off beautifully.
There are a few sex scenes in the book, so if that is not your thing you may want to skip over them. The book was fun, and left me with a light heart, and a sigh when it ended.
*I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
"The Maverick's Accidental Bride" by Christine Rimmer is part of the series 'Montana Maverick's: What Happened at the Wedding.' In this story we have Will Clifton and Jordyn Leigh Cates. Will is a few years older than Jordyn. Both are originally from Thunder Canyon but have recently relocated to Rust Creek Falls. One night at a mutual friends wedding they had a couple of drinks and woke up married to each other. It seems like someone may have spiked the punch with more than a little alcohol since many of the town folks seemed to have not behaved like their usual selves.
This book goes through the struggles of Will and Jordyn fighting their attraction to each other. They decide to stay married till Jordyn is sure that she isn't pregnant from their one night of 'sleeping' together. Neither one knows what happened and why they ended up married. If you've read about the Maverick's in Thunder Canyon or Rust Creek you'll enjoy this story. If you've never read any of the Maverick books I recommend them but you will be able to follow along in this story with no problem. Christine Rimmer writes great stories, and I loved this book.
This was a really sweet book. Jordyn Leigh Cates, and Will Clifton has been friends since childhood. The families are friends also. They both attend a friend's wedding. The next morning they wake up in a hotel bed, and can't remember how they got there. What's worse is they see they are wearing a matching set of wedding rings. It was Will that found the marriage license first. Jordyn is a virgin, and can't remember what happened during the night. As you can imagine she is just a tad hysterical, until Will calms her down. Someone had either spiked the punch, or drugged them. Other people at the wedding party was also acting out of character.
They agreed to stay married for a month, until they found out if Jordyn had gotten pregnant. This was a sweet journey. Jordyn's innocence was refreshing. The way she seduced her husband was sweet, and entertaining. They both enjoyed the time they spent together. Will had his life mapped out. He wanted to buy a ranch, then find the perfect person to settle down with. Jordyn had been holding out for love. Will this marriage turn into the forever kind of love along the way? You gotta read, and find out.

If you like Harlequin romances, Christine Rimmer's newest book "The Maverick's Accidental Bride" has all the ingredients for a cool summer read: a hunky, honorable hero, a sweet, spunky heroine, and enough heat and romance between the two of them to make you blush.
It appears someone spiked the punch, and Jordyn Leigh and Will, who have known each other all their lives, wake up the day after their friends' wedding also married. Neither of them can remember what happened the previous night. Jordyn was a virgin. Is she still? The two decide to stay married temporarily for appearances and to make sure she isn't pregnant. But there is a "Divorce Plan", with a definite timeline, since Jordyn Leigh is heading off to finish her Master's degree.
Hmmm, I wonder how that will turn out? As you can imagine, it should be fraught with (sexual) tension. And hello -- who doesn't love to read about a hot cowboy?
I found this to be a sweet, charming read. Jordyn and Will made a cute couple. I say cute because even when they were fighting it did not last long and there was not a lot of steamy romance in the bedroom. There were a few moments but they were brief. Even talk about ranch life was quick. So you did not really get the feel of what it would be like to take care of animals on a ranch. Yet, despite the lack of steamy romance I did find this to be a nice read with some fun characters. The good natured ribbing that Will got from his brothers was entertaining. Even though this is my first time getting introduced to Jordyn and Will. It did feel like I had known them both for a long time. with their ups and downs it made them real and relatable.
I totally adored Will and Jordyn's story! It was such a wild twist going to a wedding and waking up married the next morning with not alot of recollection of how it happened.
I fell in love with Will and took a strong liking to Jordyn straightaway as I cheered them on hoping they would realize how in love they both were even though neither could see it at the time. Obviously they both would have eventually wound up together but thankfully Fate tossed in her bouquet and made it possible sooner.
Will was such a sweetheart worrying over Jordyn's reputation if they had a quickie annulment. I don't know many men who would have really cared at all so I was endeared to him in the beginning just for that simple thing but he was such a dreamy character..a real down to earth kinda good guy.
what a fun book. The friends to lovers formula is one of my favorites and this story line really delivers. Jordyn and Will have known each other their entire lives, but a few cups of spiked punch changes things forever. The next morning they wake up married. This is from the Montana Mavericks series, and the sub-series of What Happened at the Wedding. I'm eager to read the other books in the series to see who else had their lives changed by the spiked punch, and if they ever figure out who did it.
The Maverick's Accidental Bride by Christine Rimmer is a pleasure as all of Rimmer's books are. Once it was started I couldn't put it down until I saw how Jordyn and Will were going to "solve" their issues. Which is really just being scared to talk to the other about how they really feel. I love how when reading the book, I picture myself as Jordyn and then of course I can picture my own Will. The book is an absolute winner!!!
I so enjoyed Christine Rimmer's latest book The Maverick's Accidental Bride. The story of Will and Jordyn was both surprising and funny. I love when love is shown a twist and you are not sure of the outcome. And I love how the heroin had to have her oreo brownies when things did not look good! A girl does need her chocolate. I highly recommend this as a read for your summer pleasure and look forward to more of Christine Rimmers books.
Did you ever have that friend that once you were an adult and you could only see them once in a while, but yet the connection was always the same. That's the feeling I get reading The Mavericks Accidental Bride. It's just a good feeling book, that made me as happy to read as if I was seeing a long time friend. You always know seeing that friend will leave you happy and that's what Christine Rimmer's book did for me, left me happy.
What an absolutely sweet and delightful read!!! These two together where fantastic!!! It friends to lovers. Two characters that I really really liked!!! Their relationship came across as real and mature. And I so enjoyed how honest, honorable and true they treated each other. It a slow, sweet burn and so worth the read. Highly recommended for those who want a feel good and happy read.
Jordyn Cates went to a wedding of Braden Traub and Jennifer Maccallum and then woke up with more than a hangover, she woke up in Bed with will Clifton to find out she was married. but they were planning on getting a divorce till true love conquers over all.. Loved it
I really enjoyed this story. I love it when 2 people who thought they knew what they were looking for wasn't what they thought. Will and Jordyn think they have it all figured out until their fates put them together. Christine Rimmer has done it again.
I like the story line, and now have a new series to read. Great characters and easy to identify with characters.Another great read from Christine Rimmer.
Jordyn and Will met again at a wedding they both attended in Rust Creek after separated for years. They woke up the next day and got a shock when they found out that they are married. As they discover that they could not dissolve their marriage as easily as they thought, they decided to stay married for a month to see whether Jordyn got pregnant from the night they spent together.
It is a charming and delightful read for me with long time friends finding out they are perfect for each other. Both Jordyn and Will does make a cute couple and I love the banter they share.
Jordyn Leigh Cates has known Will Clifton and his family since they were children. They meet up here on the 4th of July celebration in the park for a mutual friend's wedding. While there they share a glass of punch, some dances, a few kisses. The next morning, they share a last name.
Will is a bit angry that he does not remember what happened. He only knows they shared the same cup and is concerned they have been drugged. By admitting this to anyone else, they would tell others they had not planned to get married and it could lead to a bad reputation. He is starting a ranch of his own and needs to be above reproach.
Jordyn has plans for her future. Marriage and family are in them, just not this soon or to this man. She agrees to give it the summer so she can find out if she is accidentally pregnant. Will deserves the benefit of the doubt since they have known one another so long.
While setting up his new home on the ranch, Will realizes that Jordyn fits into his life more than he ever hoped. Now he does not want to let her go. His protective instincts on her behalf are working overtime and he does not know whether to hit himself or just give up and let her live her life.
Jordyn knows the end of summer is coming and she has to move on for school. Can how they feel help them through the long haul? Can she tell him and be honest? He has not said anything so she is not sure what to determine. It will take courage but the future could be brighter than the stars.
The story is sweet and the characters are good together. I enjoyed the banter they share. The families are more timid and kind of nosy. The honesty between the lead characters is worth reading.

Christine Rimmer does it again. There has not been a single Christine Rimmer book that I have not liked/loved and I have read so many. I had the pleasure of reading this yesterday and thought it was a darling. I highly recommend this book and was glad to find the angst was minimal. So many books I've read lately have a great deal of angst with only a few pages of happiness at the end and, for me, they are depressing and somewhat sad. I enjoy a better balanced book and that is what I get from Christine. In this case I found 'The Maverick's Accidental Bride' uplifting and very feel good. It is formulaic but that is what we expect from this publishing company.
The Players: We have beautiful, innocent Jordyn Leigh Cates who is reunited with a family friend from her childhood, the dashing Will Clifton. The are both from the same hometown but Jordyn left two years ago looking for something more. Unbeknownst to both Will and Jordyn they end up living in the same city and attend the same wedding.
Something peculiar is happening to the guests and one or two fear someone spiked or drugged the punch. Take Jordyn Leigh and Will for example. They had a wonderful time together at the wedding, danced the night away and shared some scorching hot kisses. The next morning they awake to find they are in the same bed, married and have absolutely no recollection of their ceremony or the simple fact they had married. Jordyn is especially distraught because this was not in her plans and she does live by her plans.
Read and see what happens when they decide it's best for them to 'play' house and stay married for a short amount to please their family and friends who are all is so excited and happy for them.
This is a fun, cute romance. I like the plot and read it in one session. The characters are likeable.
Jordyn Leigh Cates and Will Clifton ran into each other at a wedding in Rust Creek. They grew up together in another town. They drank the wedding punch that had no hard liquor. Next morning they woke up with no memory after a certain point. They wore wedding rings and had a marriage license.
Jordyn and Will agreed to pretend that the wedding was not a shock to them. They would play at marriage as they waited to see if a baby was made. Will had just bought a ranch in Rust Creek. I liked Jordyn and Will's relationship as they grew closer.
The scene with the kids in the preschool giving a bridal shower for Jordyn was really cute and special.
I also really liked the fun they had at the waterfall. I would have loved to see and try that when I was younger.
I would love to read more books by Christine Rimmer in the future. I also want to read more in the Montana Mavericks: What Happened at the Wedding.
I was given the book by Chatterbox to read and in return I agreed to give a honest review and tell people what my opinion was of The Mavericks: What Happened at the Wedding.)
This story draws you in from beginning to end. To wake up married and not remember it strange indeed. Is there foul play with punch bowl from wedding night before. Jordyn wants one special guy to spend her life with. Did she mess things up? Or did she find him accidentally ? I invite you to find out - get book. Will has known Jordyn since she was little. He's always looked out for her. I loved all animals left behind when Will bought ranch. Did true love win out or not? You will have to read to find out. One of your best Christine.
When someone says Harlequin Romance, THIS is what I am looking for! Right down to the fighting couple and the Happily Ever After, it was everything I expected it to be. After receiving this book from Harlequin #HarlequinPack #Sponsored(for the purpose of reviewing it), it took me several days to get around to reading it. As implausible as it is to marry someone without remembering it, (and what happened to the necessary wait time or blood tests or whatever?!!!) this is a FANTASTIC premise on which to base a completely sweet romance novel (well, o.k. there is a little action at the end that keeps it from being COMPLETELY sweet, lol). I like the fact that the heroine, while at times being wishy-washy and unsure of herself, also refused to be "run over" by the man in her life. And it was nice to "see" the confusion and uncertainty in our hero, also. All-in-all, a lovely read. Enjoyable, quick, and a pleasure!
