The Cannibal Princess is a cute little extra for fans of the Psy-Changeling series, giving an extremely quick read you can dive into after Slave to Sensation. I’m not the biggest fan of these kinds of shorts – in fact, the only case I can think of where I’ve happily devoured all the shorts is with Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series – but I was curious to see how Nalini Singh’s shorts would play out. After all, there’s so many of them, with so many people seeming to enjoy the extras, and I thought it was at least worth the try.
In truth, this is a rounded-up rating. It’s more of a one-point-five-star read, but it brought a smile to my face, so I decided to round up. As I’ve mentioned, I’m not a big lover of shorts, so my rating is mostly a reflection of that. Personally, this was cute but it didn’t really add much. I did not gain anything by reading it, and I wouldn’t have missed out on anything if I’d overlooked it.
If you’re a big fan of the series, and if you enjoy extremely quick reads that offer an insight into the lives of characters, then I’m certain you’ll have fun with this. Otherwise, do not feel as though you need to read these shorts to understand the series.
