"Age is just a number. What matters is the love between two people, not how old they are."~Ezra😉

"Every part of her belonged to me, and every part of me belonged to her."~Ezra😘

"This man was all mine."~Mira🥰

This is a fast moving short story in the Appleridge Universe. It has all the cute banter, attraction, little drama, and insta high heat.🥵🔥🥵🔥

Mira Wilcox is older, 39, she just inherited a farm house and an apple orchard that has seen better days by a Father she had been estranged from. Mira knows nothing about apple trees but her fun bestie Kelly told her to sign up on a dating website called Mountain Mates. I know. That seems like it's going to be a bad idea in the long history of bad ideas or maybe it will be the right one.🫡 As long as Mira makes her intentions known that it's to have someone teach her how to revive her apple orchard, then no problems should occur. Right?!🤪 Right.🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

Well, temptation just answered and walked into her life looking all yummy and naughty.🌶️🌶️🌶️ Ezra Chavez knows apple trees, lives in Appleridge, likes Mira and he's also 24yrs old. There's an age gap but he doesn't care and Mira, she hesitates for about 15 seconds.🤣 I like that she's older but doesn't dwell on it too long. And she shouldn't. Ezra is all about worshiping Mira. The epilogue is funny and sweet. Nice book cover. We need more romance books like this one. Happy reading. *•>§<•*💜💜💜💜

Age is Just a Number Where Love is Concerned -
Mira was shocked when her late father’s lawyer informed her she had inherited Apple orch, but she didn’t have any experience, so she decided to find someone to help her. The last thing Ezra expected when he accepted the job, was to find himself intensely attracted to Mira, but it took a lot of convincing for her to give him a chance. Even though Mira was attracted to Ezra, she was happy to just ogle him from afar due to their age difference, but he wasn’t willing to let it be an issue between them.

Ezra and Mira found themselves spending time together getting to know each other, where their intense attraction led to a stolen kiss and subsequently to a mind blowing steamy encounter. From the moment Ezra and Mira embarked on a romantic relationship, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, which led to them moving in together, so they could start building their future. This is a feel-good romance story, that pulled me in right from the beginning and didn’t let me go until I had read and enjoyed every single page. Lyssa J. Cole’s Swooning for the Mountain Man is a delicious, high-heat "instalove" snack that perfectly captures the magic of a fresh start in the picturesque town of Appleridge. By flipping the script with a reverse mail-order bride setup and a refreshing age-gap dynamic, the story delivers an immediate, visceral chemistry that bypasses the slow burn in favor of pure, unadulterated passion. It’s the ultimate low-angst escape—blending the cozy, atmospheric charm of a sun-drenched apple orchard with a hero who is as devoted as he is rugged. If you’re looking for a spicy, feel-good romance that proves life’s unexpected inheritance can be much more than just property, this book is a total "one-sitting" delight.

I'm swooning over Ezra. And Mira is a lucky lady. Because Appleridge is the place to be in order to find your man. I'm suspecting some very close connection between the love bug and apple orchards. Because an apple orchard is the reason Ezra and Mira to meet. Swooning for the Mountain Man is the perfect fast and steamy insta love novella with reverse age gap and happily ever after guaranteed. And you know what you are getting when you pick up a Lyssa J Cole novella.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.

The rest of the book from chapter two has each chapter titled Mira/Ezra, but the actual story is Paisley and Isaiah from Protective Mountain Man which was released last week.

🥃 ARC Review: SWOONING FOR THE MOUNTAIN MAN
Author: Lyssa J Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance + Small Town + Mountain Man
Tropes: Reverse Mail Order Bride, Reverse Grumpy/Sunshine, Age Gap (she's older), Instalove, Forced Proximity, City Girl Goes Country, Found Home
Format: Booksprout ARC
Series: Mountain Man Mail Order Bride Series
Drink Pairing: The Apple Orchard Mule — recipe below
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Explicit. Ezra does not hesitate and neither does this book.)
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (3.5/5) — A Crisp, Sweet Pour — Exactly What It Promises

🥃 The Pour
Pour a full glass of something cold and sweet and prepare for a book that knows exactly what it is and delivers it without apology.

Swooning for the Mountain Man by Lyssa J Cole is not trying to be a literary masterpiece. It is not building a complex mythology or subverting your expectations with a shocking third act. It is a cozy, warm, explicit small-town romance about a city woman who inherits an apple orchard, posts a help-wanted ad on a dating site (respect the chaos), and gets answered by a twenty-four-year-old mountain man who looks like a whole snack and works like one too.
That's it. That's the whole pitch. And honestly? Sometimes the orchard just needs tending.

A Full Glass of Characters
Mira Wilcox is our heroine, and I want to be clear: she did not come to Apple Country to find love. She came to figure out what to do with a crumbling farmhouse and a dying apple orchard that her estranged, recently deceased father left her in a will she wasn't expecting. She is a freelance journalist — which means she's practical, adaptable, and knows how to research. She is also deeply, genuinely grieving in the way people grieve complicated relationships: the ones where the person is gone before you ever really got to know them.

Mira is a woman rebuilding from more than one loss, and Lyssa J Cole is smart enough to let that sit in the background of the cozy romance without making it the whole story. Mira doesn't need saving. She needs help with the orchard. One of those problems gets solved with a dating app. The other one — the loneliness she doesn't name directly — gets solved by a man with a chainsaw and incredible instincts about what she needs before she knows herself.

Ezra is twenty-four, built like a mountain, and has the emotional intelligence of someone three times his age. He sees the ad on Mountain Mates. He shows up. He chainsaw-renovates the orchard by hand and brings apple cinnamon muffins from the local bakery and makes her lunch on day two. He also responds to age gap concern with the single most charming line in this book — asking if she's thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-six — and when she finally tells him she's closer to forty? He shrugs and gets back to kissing her.

Top-shelf confidence. I appreciate a man who doesn't flinch.
The supporting cast is small but functional. Kelly, Mira's best friend who stays in the city and FaceTimes her with unconditional support and zero judgment, is genuinely endearing. She is the text message hype woman we all deserve.

What I Savored 🥃
The reverse age gap done right. Mira being the older woman in an age gap romance is a refreshing flip on the mountain man formula. The author doesn't make her neurotic about it for fifty chapters — she mentions it, Ezra dismisses it with charm and sincerity, and then they move on. That's the correct amount of space to give that particular anxiety. Enough to acknowledge, not enough to drown in.

Ezra's quiet confidence. He is not loud about his interest in Mira. He just shows up. Consistently. With food, with effort, with warmth. The scene where he makes them lunch on day two and brings the muffin from the bakery — "almost better than sex... I said almost" and then winks — is genuinely charming. He earns the swoon.

Kelly as a supporting character. The FaceTime friendship between Mira and Kelly is handled with real warmth. The text exchange where Mira asks if she's a sl*t for wanting to sleep with him already and Kelly replies "no. ur human. get it girl" — that is the exact energy of a best friendship that has survived everything together. No note.

The epilogue lands. Three months later, he's moved in, she's glowing, Kelly is planning a visit, and the apple orchard is presumably thriving. Tidy. Sweet. The exact ending this story needed and nothing more.

What Needed More Aging 🥃
The instalove pacing hits the glass a little sharp. This is openly, proudly an instalove romance — the title tells you exactly what kind of story you're in — but even so, the emotional escalation moves so quickly that a few beats feel rushed. Mira goes from cautious to completely open in a matter of days, and while Ezra earns it, I wanted one more chapter of tension before we got there. A little longer in the barrel would've deepened the finish.

The farmhouse and orchard needed more texture. The setting is the whole premise — a crumbling farmhouse with a dying orchard that needs to be revived — and I wanted the physical space to live and breathe more in the story. When the orchard starts recovering, I want to feel it. More of those sensory details would've made the setting a character instead of a backdrop.

Thin on emotional backstory. Mira's grief for her father and her late mother is present but not excavated. For a story that uses that grief as the reason she uproots her entire life, it deserved a bit more interiority. I wanted to sit inside that complication longer.

The Finish
Swooning for the Mountain Man is a crisp autumn Saturday in book form. Is it going to change your life? No. Will it make your afternoon better, your heart warmer, and your reading hour worth every minute? Absolutely.

A solid mid-shelf recommendation for anyone who wants their small town romance sweet, their mountain man attentive, their heat high, and their age gap working in the heroine's favor for once.
Worth the pour.

🍺 The Drink Pairing
The Apple Orchard Mule
Crisp. A little sweet. Better than it has any right to be.
2 oz Vodka (clean, no-nonsense — Mira moving to a new life)
4 oz Fresh apple cider (the orchard she inherited, the home she's building)
2 oz Ginger beer (the kick — Ezra showing up with a chainsaw and a smile)
½ oz Fresh lemon juice
1 Cinnamon stick (garnish — for Ruby's apple cinnamon muffins from Appleridge Sweets)
1 Thin apple slice (garnish)

Fill a copper mug with ice. Add vodka, apple cider, and lemon juice. Top with ginger beer and give it a gentle stir. Garnish with a cinnamon stick pressed against the rim and a thin apple slice on the side.

The apple cider is the whole heart of this cocktail — just like the orchard is the whole heart of this story. The vodka keeps it clean. The ginger gives it a little edge. The cinnamon stick is a nod to the muffin moment. Sip it on a porch. Preferably one with a mountain view.

Swooning for the Mountain Man by Lyssa J. Cole is a charming, feel-good small-town romance that proves love can bloom in the most unexpected places—sometimes right in the middle of an apple orchard. With a confident older heroine, a devoted younger mountain man, and a cozy small-town setting, this short but sweet story delivers humor, heart, and plenty of swoony moments.

When Mira Wilcox learns she’s inherited an apple orchard from the father she’d been estranged from, her first reaction isn’t excitement—it’s panic. She knows absolutely nothing about running an orchard, and the responsibility feels overwhelming. Determined not to let the property fall apart, she posts an ad looking for someone who can help her revive the farm.

What she doesn’t expect is Ezra Chavez showing up at her door.

Ezra is young, ruggedly handsome, and knows everything there is to know about apple trees. From the moment he meets Mira, he’s instantly drawn to her confidence, wit, and warmth. The problem? Ezra is fifteen years younger—and Mira isn’t convinced that kind of age gap is something she should take seriously.

Ezra, however, doesn’t see it as a problem at all.

What makes this romance so fun is the playful energy between them. Mira may hesitate at first, but Ezra’s determination and genuine admiration slowly chip away at her doubts. Their banter is lighthearted and natural, and their growing connection feels sweet and genuine rather than rushed.

As they work together to restore the orchard, the time they spend side by side allows their attraction to grow into something deeper. Ezra makes it clear that he sees Mira exactly as she is—beautiful, capable, and worth pursuing—while Mira learns that sometimes love doesn’t follow the rules we think it should.

The small-town setting of Appleridge adds warmth and charm to the story, creating the perfect backdrop for a romance about fresh starts and unexpected happiness. The orchard itself becomes a lovely symbol of rebuilding and growth, mirroring Mira’s own journey as she begins to open her heart to possibilities she never imagined.

If you enjoy reverse age-gap romances, confident curvy heroines, devoted younger heroes, and cozy small-town love stories, Swooning for the Mountain Man is a quick, steamy, and uplifting read that’s perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Because sometimes the sweetest love stories grow when you least expect them—
right alongside the apple trees.

She comes for a fresh start and finds a man who won’t let go.

After her distant father’s death leaves her with a failing orchard and a life she never planned for, Mira arrives in Appleridge carrying grief, exhaustion, and more loneliness than she wants to admit. She’s older, guarded, and out of place, and asking for help feels easier than facing how lost she really is. Inheriting the land means facing everything in her life that’s been left untended, including herself.

Ezra shows up, capable and impossible to ignore. What unsettles Mira isn’t just the attraction or the age gap, but the way he sees straight through her restraint and meets it with steady certainty, making it hard to pretend she only needs help with the orchard. He makes her feel wanted instead of overlooked, and that changes everything.

As the orchard starts to come back to life, so does something in Mira. What begins as raw hunger turns into a connection built on reassurance, intensity, and the quiet intimacy of letting someone into your space, your routines, and your life. The heat hits fast, but the tenderness underneath it gives the story its pull. ‍

Mira grows from emotionally untethered and self-protective into someone willing to want more than survival, while Ezra’s instant desire deepens into devotion, care, and real commitment. Their bond moves fast, but it never feels careless. It feels consuming, tender, and grounded in the relief of being fully wanted.

Ultra-steamy small town romance about a woman rebuilding after loss and emotional distance, then finding unexpected intimacy, safety, and belonging with a younger man whose certainty pulls her into something deeper. As desire turns into trust, shared work, and fierce devotion, the story becomes about healing, reinvention, and choosing a life that finally feels like home.

The Elevator Pitch: After inheriting a neglected apple orchard from the father who kept his distance in life, a guarded woman arrives in a mountain town expecting hard work and solitude, only to find herself face to face with a younger man whose certainty cuts straight through her defenses. What begins as a practical arrangement quickly turns charged, as the land, the house, and every quiet corner between them become tangled with hunger, grief, and the dangerous relief of being truly seen. Beneath the heat, it’s a story about what happens when a life left untended is met with devotion fierce enough to make belonging feel possible again.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

Love That Feels Like a Fresh Start

Swooning for the Mountain Man is one of those quick reads that leaves you smiling without even realizing it. Lyssa J. Cole takes a simple premise—an overwhelmed woman inheriting an apple orchard—and turns it into a tender, charming instalove story that feels like a breath of crisp mountain air.

Mira is instantly relatable. She’s older, curvy, and completely unprepared to run an orchard she never expected to inherit. Her mix of disbelief, panic, and determination feels so real. She’s spent so much of her life just trying to keep her head above water that the idea of building something new—something hers—seems impossible.

And then Ezra shows up.

Younger, strong, steady, and carrying that quiet mountain‑man confidence that makes you understand exactly why Mira’s breath catches. He arrives answering her ad for help, but it’s clear from the moment he steps onto her porch that he’s offering more than just labor. He sees her—really sees her—in a way she’s not used to. Not as a burden, not as someone floundering, but as a woman worth choosing.

Their chemistry is instant but soft. Ezra’s certainty balances Mira’s hesitation, and the reverse age gap adds a lovely twist to the usual mountain‑man dynamic. Instead of the older, gruff hero guiding the younger heroine, we get a younger man who knows exactly what he wants and an older woman who’s finally learning she deserves to be wanted that way.

The small‑town setting of Appleridge adds the perfect cozy backdrop. You can practically smell the apples and feel the quiet settling around them as they figure out what this unexpected connection means. And because it’s a short read, the story moves quickly—but never feels rushed. It’s instalove with heart, not just heat.

If you love reverse age‑gap romances, protective mountain men, and heroines who finally get the affection and stability they’ve always deserved, Swooning for the Mountain Man is a delightful one‑hour escape that hits all the right notes.

Mira and Ezra’s story is a sweet and spicy reverse age-gap romance. Mira needs help getting the apple orchard she inherited from the father she never knew up and running. To that end, she puts an add on the Mountain Mates dating site, but makes it clear she is not looking for a date or a relationship, just someone to help her with the orchard. When Ezra reads Mira’s ad he is intrigued and wants to help. He knows a great deal about apple trees and gardening in general and is familiar with the orchard Mira inherited.

Neither expected the intense attraction between them or the sense of familiarity and connection. They both fill comfortable and fully at ease with each other, though both hesitate to act on their feelings. She fears he would never want a woman so much older than him (15 years) and he fears he will scare her off if he moves too fast. Age doesn’t matter to Ezra and when he finally makes his move, and soon it doesn’t matter to Mira either. He teaches her about more than just the apple trees and veggie garden….he teaches her about love and commitment, both of which have been lacking in her life.

I am happy to recommend this very engaging novella.

The forbidden apple turns out to be very tasty

Swooning for the Mountain Man by Lyssa J Cole is part of the multi-author Mountain Man Mail Order Bride 2026 series. This is a reverse age-gap romance between Mira Wilcox and Ezra Chavez. She is a freelance journalist who has come to Appleridge after inheriting an apple orchard from her distant father. Ezra has grown up in Appleridge and has always admired the house and orchard that Mira inherited. When she finds the website Mountain Mates instead of joining to find love and romance she posts looking for someone who can help her with the orchard. Ezra is the only one who responds and he is more than enthusiastic to teach Mira all about taking care of the trees and getting the neglected orchard back into shape. These are also find their is more than a spark between them. Will taking a bite of the forbidden apple be too juicy to resist?

Elevator pitch: Mira has just inherited a dying apple orchard, so she advertises for a farm hand. On a dating site, where she meets younger man Ezra.
Thoughts- this is an interesting take on the Mail-order bride trope, seeing as how it’s a dating site where they message, it’s a reverse age gap, and Ezra is a mail-order groom. Mira was not actually interested in dating, but she changed her mind very quickly when she laid eyes on Ezra, who had the same reaction. The epilogue had a dorky ending, but the rest of the story was good.

Small town romance.
Mira is a young woman who inherits an abandoned orchard from her father, whom she never knew. Lost and unsure of what to do, she decides to look for a man who can help her with the orchard on a mountain dating site. She certainly didn't expect a gorgeous man to reply.
Ezra joined the dating site to find a wife, not a job. But when he meets the beautiful Mira, he's completely smitten and will do anything to win her over.
Will Mira and Ezra have a beautiful love story, or will Mira remain closed to love….

This is a reverse age gap insta love story filled with passion and a connection that goes beyond age.

Mira inherited an orchard, and is looking for a connection to her land and also a person. Her ad in an order mail app, lands her with Ezra, a younger man who is willing to come and be part of her farm. Their attraction is instant since the moment he arrives, but the large age difference (she is 15 yrs his senior) prevents her from accepting her approaches. BUt the sensual tension explodes in passion that leads her to accept that age is just a number and her HEA is in his arms.

4.5 stars! A fun twist on the age gap since Mira is older than Ezra. Mira needs help rehabbing the apple orchard she inherited and Ezra offers to be that help. They are instantly drawn to each other and once they give in to temptation they can’t resist! Who knew moving to a small town and inheriting something that needs a second life could lead to love. Another hot match made in Appleridge! A fabulous epilogue too!

Ezra and Mira seemed an unlikely pair but love in Appleridge is always unpredictable and sizzling. These two come together quickly and fall into very comfortable companionship. I wish Mira would’ve learned more about her father so I’m left a bit unsettled by that, even though this short story romance is a fun read.

This is the first book I have read from this author. This is part of the Mountain Man Mail Order Bride Series, which is a multi-author series. It was a nice change to see the man being the one to move to be with the female.

Mira inherited an apple orchard from her estranged father. She left her life in the city to tend to the orchard. Ezra is a farm hand that answers her profile on a dating app.

She never expected to inherit the apple orchard or sign up for mountain match, but in such a short time Mira’s whole life had changed. Ezra is the swoon worthy guy who comes to work on her orchard and they immediately have a connection. It takes bo time for that to progress to more. This is an excellent short read. I really adored the characters and story line. This is a perfect short read pick me up.

When Mira inherits an apple orchard with no clue what to do with it, she places an add for some help. Ezra is in need of a bit of extra work, and knows all about apples, and when they meet its all rosy apples! Ezra doesn’t care that she’s older, quite a bit older, he is all in. I loved how they were both so taken with each other and how much Ezra was a gentleman, and how they fell apart for each other so easily. A fun, quick read with a bit of apple spice!

Oh YES! Finally, a woman who is older than the hunk of a mountain man. Ezra was an unconventional reply to an unusual Mountain Man Dating App profile, and things could not have worked out better.
This entertaining book was a very pleasurable read, with no cliffhanger, and a delightful HEA.

When Mira inherits an apple orchard, she puts up an ad looking for help to tend to it. Ezra answers that ad. And boy is he a tall and younger drink of e water. Mira is definitely attracted to him. But him being younger makes her hesitate. In time though the attraction blooms and both are unable to deny it any longer. This was such a great sweet and steamy novella. I really enjoyed this one.
