Well, who wouldn’t want an unhinged psychopath who's all about consent? It's even better when he's OTT obsessed, jealous, and possessive. The best part? He's never been kissed, never been touched. 🤭 He seems like a unicorn, but he actually exists in this book.
Anyway, my rating is solely for Valerio (29), and it is for him alone. Hence why I rounded this up. I know he's a red flag, and the fact that he ghosted Charlotte not just once but twice really annoys me for a little while. But then I think about how he grew up without ever really knowing what love feels like, believing all along that he was a monster destined to ruin everything he touched. So I decide I’d cut him some slack. I can’t even begin to imagine how he must have felt as a kid when his own mom wouldn’t touch him, and then that one time he tried, she slapped him. That’s just blood-boiling and heartbreaking at the same time. But I'm glad that he found the person who can finally see beyond his facade. Although the way they met was not in the best of situations (imo), it worked for them, so yay, I suppose.
While I liked Valerio, I can't say the same about Charlotte (34). I get that not everyone might see it this way, but I really think there was an imbalance at the beginning of their relationship.
No one really got Valerio before, not even his brothers, even though they made an effort. So, he ended up being left to his own devices most times. Then he met Charlotte, and she became his therapist. She was the only one who could look past his psychopathy and somehow understand where he was coming from. She made him feel seen, and because of that, he became attached to her—obsessed, if we're being honest—eventually leading to him stalking her.
Sure, it's not her fault that he did some questionable things regarding her, but she did nothing to stop them either. In fact, she actually enjoys and somehow encourages it (by seducing him). Her professionalism went out the window so fast, and that’s when I got the ick.
I guess I just expected a bit more maturity from her, especially since a) she’s a doctor and b) she’s five years older than him. Idk how to explain it other than it came across to ME like there was some kind of exploitation in their doctor-client relationship. She somehow knows how to handle someone like him, and he ends up becoming infatuated with her because she’s likely the first person to really show him understanding and sympathy. AGAIN, I get that that wasn't the intention. It's just how it felt to me.
So yeah, I didn’t warm up to her, not even until the end, because the ick didn’t go away. But she's Valerio's world, so there's nothing I can do about that.
Anyway, like I said, I enjoyed this because of the MMC. But ngl, I was disappointed when he didn't say "ILY" because he felt those words were inadequate to express his feelings for her. Idk about the other readers, but I like the MCs to say those words and back them up with actions. But then again, to each their own. 🤷♀️
Book info (Spoilersss ⚠️) — Client x Patient — Psychopath H — Touch-averse and germaphobe H — OTT JPP H — Stalking — Dubcon — Novella — Reverse age gap (mini) — Child abandonment — Mention of abuse (past) — Serial unaliving — No cheating, OW — Minor OM (she went on a date with a friend after he ghosted her, again) — Separation (he ghosted her TWICE; he thinks he’s a monster and she deserves better) — V MMC 🥳, Non-V FMC (no info on her past) — HEA (mos later??, married and pregnant)
PS. Idk how to feel about their mom getting her own book. She left her four sons, making them feel unlovable and worthless. She made them believe that they were monsters and that something was wrong with them. I should probably give her some grace because, after all, she was stuck with a man so obsessed with her that he ended up imprisoning her and abusing her to keep her from leaving. Yes, she was hurt all throughout the years; the same goes for her children too. They all didn't choose that situation. Yet she made them feel like they were the worst thing to ever happen in her life, all because every time she looked at them, it was her POS husband whom she saw. And YET, she ended up marrying her POS husband's identical twin?!?! You can't stand looking at your sons because they resemble their monster father, yet you ended up marrying the actual twin of that monster. Yo, make it make sense! The years probably helped her, but ugh, idk.
- Novella - Virgin MMC - He stalks her - Some push from H bc of his trauma - No owd at all
Easy read with some heavy mentally illness from the H, but it was a funny and easy read. The H pushed the h away two times, but due to all his trauma, I understood. And he was so obsessed with the h that it didn’t bother me.
Valerio had potential as a complex character, especially with his issues surrounding his mother and the fact that he was in therapy to begin with. I really wish the story had leaned more into that psychological angle because it felt like a missed opportunity for deeper character development.
Charlotte, though, was my biggest struggle. I found her unprofessional and honestly kind of unrealistic. The way she accepted that she was involved with a literal serial killer felt way too easy, and it pulled me out of the story. I don’t mind dark romance tropes, but I still need the character reactions to feel believable.
Overall, it was a quick, entertaining read, but I wanted more depth and stronger character development to really sell the story.
✧ tropes ↳ patient x psychiatrist, germaphobe mmc, virgin mmc, total power exchange (TPE), stalking, cnc, abandonment issues
✧ why isn’t it a 5/5? ↳ its a novella at the end of the day. i found it really fast-paced and enjoyable. but i actually wanted some parts to be more detailed ngl
✧ my take ↳ this might be might favorite out of the series (i still havent read the first one) valerio is definitely the darkest mmc out of the morelli brothers and i really enjoyed it.
“I don’t tell you I love you because it’s too small…it doesn’t cover the way I want to crawl inside your chest just to hear your heart from the inside. It doesn’t cover the fact that I’d dismember anyone who even thought of hurting you.”
What a perfect dark, toxic, obsessive end to this series! Not sure how I feel about Isabella maybe getting a novella but the Morelli brothers were a fun trip!
✅psy/patient ✅he hates to be touched ✅virgin hero ✅TPE
It was short and great and like every novellas I was hoping for some parts to be more detailed (like their first time! I live for this moment!!!) Overall I really enjoyed it and I am considering reading the others.
Loved this book read it within 2 hours! Seen it on TikTok and it did not disappoint! The obsession OH MY! if you like a dark, unhinged psycho obsessed book this is it. Love the way only she can heal him. 💕
4,5 ⭐️ You know what’s better than only one character being super possessive and protective of their loved one? When they’re both like that for each other. And that’s exactly what made this book so addictive for me. Yes, he is possessive and obsessive on another level, but Charlotte? She’s not that far behind him, and I absolutely loved that dynamic.
A dark, brooding mafia man plus a woman who is an absolute badass? Sign me in every single time. Charlotte isn’t weak, she isn’t naïve, and most importantly, she doesn’t try to change him into something he isn’t. She accepts him for what he is, darkness and all, and that was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story. She didn’t try to “fix” him or make him into a better man, she loved him as the monster he believed himself to be.
Valerio’s past absolutely broke my heart. I hated how selfish his mother was, making him and his siblings suffer simply because they reminded her of their father. The moment when he said she slapped him just because he tried to touch her? That genuinely hurt to read. It made it so much easier to understand the man he became.
This man is a psychopath, but once he starts feeling something, you definitely don’t want to be on the wrong side of him. His jealousy is on another level. Thinking about other men touching her and his first instinct being to commit arson? Completely unhinged… and yet somehow perfectly fitting for his character.
Also… who doesn’t want a man so desperate to prove that you’re his that he literally carves your name into his abdomen? It’s wild, obsessive, and totally in line with the dark romance energy this book delivers.
The only reason this wasn’t a full 5 stars for me is because I was really hoping for a scene with his family where they would be completely shocked seeing him actually touch someone without a barrier. I feel like that moment would have been so powerful (especially considering his past and his aversion to physical contact) it would have made the emotional payoff even stronger. Favourite quote: “Even monsters deserve to be found”
This novella came at the right time for me. Lately, anxiety has made it harder to fully immerse myself in reading, and what used to feel effortless started to feel heavier. So finding something short, fast-paced, and easy to get through was exactly what I needed. This story helped me reconnect with reading in a gentle way, without pressure. It made the time pass quickly, and sometimes that alone makes a book valuable.
Valerio is completely unhinged—there’s no other way to describe him. He’s intense, obsessive, and operates on extremes. His presence fills every scene, and you can feel how unpredictable and overwhelming he is. He’s the kind of character who doesn’t exist in moderation; everything about him is amplified, from his emotions to his actions.
What made their dynamic more compelling is that Charlotte isn’t fragile or passive in the way you might expect. She has her own darkness, her own unhinged edge, and in many ways, they mirror each other. There’s a sense that they recognize something broken and wild in one another, and that’s what draws them together. They exist on the same chaotic wavelength, which makes their connection feel intense and inevitable.
That being said, I didn’t enjoy this novella as much as I hoped I would. Valerio’s behavior often crossed a line for me—not in a way that added depth, but in a way that made me uncomfortable. The way he treated Charlotte sometimes felt less like devotion and more like possession in its most literal, objectifying form. It felt like he saw her as something to own and control rather than someone to truly understand. That dynamic made it harder for me to fully connect with their relationship or root for them.
Overall, this novella served its purpose for me. It helped me ease back into reading during a difficult moment, and for that I’m grateful. Even if it wasn’t a favorite, it reminded me that sometimes short, intense stories can help you find your rhythm again when reading feels distant.
the most entertaining out of all the books in the series. Valerio and Charlotte are literally a match made in heaven. like, have you ever heard of someone being so bored with their “normal” life that they resort to opening a therapy clinic in some shady location specifically to treat psychopaths? murderers? gang and mob members? yeah, neither had i. until i met Charlotte.
Charlotte was low-key funny, and Valerio was quite literally the craziest motherfucker to ever live. he literally scales the side of her brownstone and starts banging on her balcony door because she was wearing a short skirt during one of their therapy sessions and it distracted him LOLLLL
【 ♐︎ *.✧ pre-read thoughts ◡̈ 💭 ☆ミ ₊˚⊹ 】 〰️ the book that introduced me to this abomination of a series. got it recommended to me on my tiktok fyp and i immediately knew that i was going to hate it
I didn’t really like ittt😞. The story felt rushed and everything happened way too quickly. There wasn’t enough time to really connect with the characters or understand what was going on 😭😭. The writing was also pretty cringey at times, especially the constant “look at me! look at me!” moments which just made it worse.
3.5 stars. I never laughed so much during a book. Not because it’s funny but because of the things I read with my eyes. lmaoo words are being written together that have never been written together before
Ooo love the monster and everything he is. SPOILER........ THE MOTHER just wow. How can you just run away from your sons then run into one of them and act like they are the problem.
Dark mafia romance novella anyone?? This is my first book by this author and her writing is actually superb. I felt like she built depth to the characters and plot in such a short time. The 🌶️ is impeccable!
Me gusto mucho, la obsesión del mmc y que fuera virgen (siii ya se que por sus traumas) ella era todo lo que el necesitaba Pero leí el último libro y ahora siento que necesito leer a los otros hermanos.
So, I think that this book jumped way to quickly, but im gonna read the other three tbh just cause it was quick and easy. He was quickly possessive, she was quickly so dismissive of herself, it could have been a lot better if there was more to it.
