What are you supposed to do when your Prince Charming becomes the villain of your story? Dante is back after vanishing from Lana’s life two years ago... and after betraying her in the worst possible way. His return shatters the normality she has built, now she's unsure of what to believe and who to trust. Once, lies tore her apart. This time, she cannot afford to break. Now, she's not alone. Lana has a son to protect, and will do whatever it takes to keep him safe. Even kill the only man she has ever loved. Dante is determined to prove she was always his, no matter the cost. He will fight for her trust, her forgiveness… and her heart. The game is not over. Not for him.
The author highly recommends reading the 'content warning' page. This is NOT a standalone. This book ends on a cliffhanger.
Can you heal a heart that has been completely broken by the person you trusted the most? This book is a deep and painful story about betrayal that leaves scars and about love that cannot be buried, no matter how hard you try.
• Dante destroyed everything Lana had, and all this time she was building her new reality brick by brick, but his return changes everything in an instant. Now she is forced to question all her memories, her security, and whether her truth was real.
• Lana is not just a woman fighting for herself and her truth, she is a mother. Having a son who depends on her makes her fierce and unyielding in her decisions. Each encounter between the main characters is an emotional duel, where Lana builds high walls to protect what is most precious to her, and her determination not to be deceived again adds incredible tension to the plot.
• Dante is a character who evokes a whole range of conflicting emotions. His past actions are horrific, and I was constantly in a state of internal conflict, wondering whether he deserved redemption. But his obsession with Lana, his conviction that she belongs to him, creates the very intensity that drives the whole story. He is a perfect example of a morally grey character whose presence forces you to constantly think about him.
• Each of their confrontations is filled with history that cannot be erased or simply forgotten. And just when you think you understand the rules of this game and finally know the "truth," the author makes another plot twist that leaves you in shock.
I cannot help but praise the book for this complex, dark, and very real struggle for the right to love again.
Scream for Me is a gripping, emotional dark romance about betrayal, second chances, and the kind of love that refuses to stay buried. The story wastes no time pulling you into Lana’s world, a life she worked hard to rebuild after Dante shattered it two years earlier. Just when she’s finally found stability, his return rips open old wounds and forces her to question everything she thought she knew.
Lana is a strong and fiercely protective heroine, especially now that she has a son depending on her. Her determination to never be fooled again makes every interaction with Dante tense and unpredictable. She’s no longer the woman he left behind, and watching her guard her heart while fighting to protect her child adds an emotional weight that makes the story even more compelling.
Dante is the kind of morally gray hero that keeps you conflicted in the best way. His past betrayal hangs heavily over every moment, yet his obsession with proving Lana was always meant to be his adds an intensity that fuels the entire story. You’re constantly wondering whether he deserves redemption or if Lana is right to keep her walls firmly in place.
The push-and-pull between them is packed with tension, secrets, and lingering passion. Every confrontation feels loaded with history, pain, and the possibility of forgiveness. Just when you think you know where things are headed, the story throws another emotional twist your way.
Finished this a few days ago but! I GOT DAMN LOVE THIS SERIES 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I wills forever recommend this series to everyone until everyone has read it! 😩😩😩
Get ready for a wild ride with this one! Lana has CPTSD and it shows in her memories and flashbacks, as well as her hesitance to trust anyone. Dante loves her just as much as he did when he was about to meet her at the altar, but her family changed the deal at the last minute. Both are ruled by their hearts, and though Dante has been combing the world for her, Lana has been lost in her mind and controlled as a pawn in the game. Despite his words of safety and love, Lana finds it hard to trust Dante, as she is waiting for the ground to disappear beneath her feet. Their relationship is just getting to a secure point when his actions threaten the safety of her family. Her fear sends her running, but Dante will stop at nothing to find his little spider.
Told through present settings and memories, Dante and Lana's story is just getting started. He moved heaven and Earth for her once, and will not hesitate to do it again. It's not just her life on the line, but her son's too, who just so happens to be Dante's child as well. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions and trauma, but in a good way. It keeps you guessing and you never know what's going to happen with each flip of the page. I can only hope Dante finds Lana and Finn before it's too late, because losing them would give him more than one reason to set his empire aflame. Lana needs to be rescued, not only for her safety, but her sanity, which is fraying thinner by the day. Though their dynamic is explosive at the best of times, it's also solidified with quiet reassurances and support through actions as well as words.
Thank you so much to A.R Aravena for letting me read an arc copy of this story. <3
Fisrt things first, make sure you check your trigger warnings! This is a very dark romance story! It has a ton of graphic scenes and depictions of graphic acts, violence, SA, you name it. It does also end on a pretty hard cliffhanger, so be prepared! It is not yet determined when we will get book two, since the author has stated she does every aspect of the publishing herself, even down to all of the artwork you get within the story, which is pretty incredible in my opinion.
I went into this story a little blind, and without reading the prequel to this novel, since A.R makes it clear in the beginning you don't really need to read it first in order to get the understanding of this whole story. I might still go back and read it eventually, just to fully grasp everything our FMC endured and understand her a bit better.
This book was good. I was very intrigued with the storyline, as well as finding out exactly what the fuck was going on with this FMC. She has been through hell and back, and you can tell just how traumatized she is because of her past and everything she has been dealt with in life, and you see her somewhat road to recovery throughout, although there are a lot of times the storyline seems to slow down, and things get repeated quite often that can kind of make you a little frustrated. By the 75% mark, I was wanting things to speed up just a little bit because I felt like we were dealing with the same issues and topics that we had already seen from around the 30-40% mark, but I wasn't going to hold that against the story. Time also moves very odd throughout the chapters, and towards the end where there had been months that had passed, I was not aware of that until the MC's had a conversation about it, and it made me really try to think back and place the portion of the book within that time frame because the story seemed to just keep going without verifying that a time jump had occured. The miscommunication in the story does drag for a while, and will have you shaking your kindle, in hopes it will snap some sense into our characters so there is closure, and when the closure comes, it's not very satisfying because it is so fast between the closure happening and another off the rails plot twist that just crumbles everything back into a fine dust. I feel like that's what this story is wanting to do on purpose though. It wants you just as frustrated and irritated with things as the MC's would be with this being their lives. The way the ending came about definitely shocked me and had me very upset with certain people in the story, though I won't say who, but dear lord.... I was very pissed off. I am very intrigued with where the next book will take this story, though I am certain it'll end up being even darker than some of the instances within this story, but at this point, I just need to know what happens and how our MC's will improve on things and hopefully begin to fucking heal from everything they endured within this book alone.
This book will keep you engaged while simultaneously making you question if you should go on (Please listen to the voice that tells you to go on!).
FMC is brought up in a family heavily involved in human trafficking. MMC is a rescuer. This dark romance is dark. I'll post a few of my favorite and spicy quotes (May contain involuntary spoilers, skip if you need to)..
-- “Cum for me, amore mio1 ,” he groans, his breath hot against my ear. “Show me how much you love having me inside you.”
-- “Don’t cry, ragnetta,” he whispers in my ear. “Ora sei mia.”
-- “Oh, cara mia. ” He quickens his pace, his mouth capturing every gasp and moan. “Ti amerò anche quando il mio cuore smetterà di battere. ”
-- “I hate you with every fibre of my being.” “I’ll remind you of that when you beg me to fuck you.”
-- “Tell me you loved him as much as you loved me, ragnetta. Tell me he was able to erase me from your heart,” he whispers harshly. “Tell me you forgot everything that happened between us.” When I don’t reply, he adds, “You cannot lie to me, amore. I know you better than you think. I know your heart is still mine and—”
-- “Tell me— are you remembering how good I filled you? How loud you screamed my name? How I owned that tight little pussy of yours?”
-- “You settle for scraps.” I skim my lips over hers. “You deserve to be worshipped like a goddess.”
-- “Ti amerò anche quando il mio cuore smetterà di battere.”
-- She is mine. My queen. My goddess. My future wife. Mine.
-- “Tired of running, cara mia?”
-- “Bella stronza. Swallow it all.”
-- “Dimmi quanto ti piace farti leccare la figa,” he says in a hoarse voice. “Scream for me.”
-- “Sei proprio una brava stronza, amore.”
-- “Not even death could take me from you, vita mia.”
-- “That’s it, sweetheart. Scream. Let them all hear who you belong to,” he whispers. “Show me how much you missed me.”
-- “You’re all I’ve ever wanted, sweetheart. You gave me a son I’ve adored since I knew about him. You gave me hope, you gave me love… You were enough— you are enough.
NOTE: Ends on a Cliffhanger that'll made you so mad you'll have to wait for Book 2!!

I finished this book in tears, and honestly, I’m still trying to get myself together.
This is the kind of story that reminds you real‑life monsters do exist. And when I say dark, I don’t mean stalker romance or mafia‑underworld dark. I mean human trafficking, systemic child abuse, and the kind of lifelong trauma that fractures a person’s sense of reality. If those themes are tough for you, definitely check content warnings first, because they’re not background elements — they’re the core of this book.
One of the things that hit me the hardest was the psychological collapse woven into Lana’s POV. Her trauma is so deep and so tangled that even I wasn’t always sure what was real and what wasn’t at times. And that disorientation isn’t confusing — it’s intentional. It puts you right inside her head, asking the same terrifying questions she is: How do you trust anyone when your own mind betrays you? What happens when the truth is both the thing that can save you and the thing that can destroy you? That tension sits in your chest the entire time.
Lana and Dante… they’re both so broken, but not in a dramatic or exaggerated way. Lana reacts exactly like someone who’s lived through prolonged trauma. And Dante? He’s a good man who makes bad calls because he’s terrified of hurting her. He doesn’t know which truths will ground her and which ones will send her spiraling. I couldn’t fault either of them. Their love is messy and fragile and painfully human. The world has tragically let them both down epically.
I’ve read another book by Sadie Kincaid set in a similar world, and this one feels tighter and more emotionally grounded. The pacing is stronger, the character work is deeper, and the mystery thread kept me turning pages way past when I should’ve been asleep. The trauma accuracy is honestly impressive — nothing sensationalized, nothing glamorized, just raw emotional truth.
There were a few slower moments, but nothing that pulled me out of the story. If anything, those quieter beats made the emotional hits land harder.
And then the cliffhanger. Perfectly executed. Emotionally brutal.
The kind of ending that wrecks you because you know how much danger and heartbreak the next book might hold. It destroyed me in the best/worst way, and I need book 2 immediately.
This book broke me open in ways I didn’t expect — not because it was cruel, but because it was honest. Because it cared about the psychological truth of its characters. Because it showed what happens when two damaged people try to build something tender in a world that keeps trying to crush them.
Huge thank you to A.R. Aravena for the ARC. I’m already diving into the prequel and gearing up for book 2.
This book doesn’t ease you in gently… it grabs you by the throat from page one and refuses to let go.
Scream For Me is a dark, emotionally intense read that pulls you into a world shaped by trauma, survival, and complicated, often unsettling relationships. The atmosphere feels heavy and consuming, making it one of those stories that’s hard to step away from, even when you probably should.
The characters are deeply flawed and layered, especially Lana, whose inner world feels raw and painfully real. Her thoughts and reactions add a strong psychological depth, making the story feel immersive and, at times, almost overwhelming in the best way. The relationships throughout the book are charged with tension, unpredictability, and emotional complexity.
The story also touches on themes that align with complex trauma (C-PTSD), and the way Lana's thoughts, reactions, and coping mechanisms are portrayed adds another layer of realism to her experience. It’s not romanticized or simplified, which makes it all the more impactful.
The writing leans into repetition and internal monologue, which reflects the protagonist’s mental state and enhances the intensity of the narrative. While it may feel heavy at times, it contributes to the overall tone and emotional weight of the story.
As the first book in a duet, it builds tension steadily… and then leaves you right on the edge, with that unmistakable feeling that everything is about to unravel. There is also a prequel [Do It For Me] available for those who want a deeper look into the story beforehand, though this can still be read on its own.
This is not a light read and definitely not for everyone. It’s best suited for readers who enjoy darker, emotionally intense romance with high stakes and heavier subject matter.
With that in mind:
Note: Scream For Me explores a number of dark and emotionally intense themes, including complex trauma (C-PTSD), violence, emotional abuse, and psychological distress. These elements are woven deeply into the story and may be triggering for some readers.
This book is probably the most insane representation of what it's like internally to have CPTSD. I connected instantly with Lana as her trauma was more revealed throughout the growth of the story. It's well known in the story how Lana was treated and so many opportunities that we take for granted were not in her life and not the key to this type of survival. Dante is a rollercoaster of internal conflict within himself and the reader. As you learn of their past and the current day being juggled simultaneously - you too are torn with what to feel about him but one thing is clear. He is devoted and dedicated with no fear of bloodshed. With each new step Dante takes towards regaining Lana's trust - Lana takes two back because something is always revealed but she remains within reach which I think speaks to her need and want to feel normal and safe and even if Dante has made those feelings feel so out of reach, he's the only one that can make them happen for her. She has her boundaries and limits and Dante is patient and devoted to her so much that he would take literal bullets just so she can speak even if she's not thinking rationally or connected to her reality. But when emotion continues to override logic because trauma has rewired Lana's brain and is in control, she flees to someone she thought was safe but she quickly learns that she ran the wrong way.
This story is well written especially for the author having to translate and edit on her own and it's a shock and awe, you'll be transported through some traumatic events that you may or may not understand - for me I did and while it didn't trigger me as much as things used to, it may you. Everyone has limits and sometimes we go back a couple steps - read at your own pace, risk because your mental health matters. This story is a hard slap in the face and only the surface level of what these girls go through in these situations, I commend the author for giving such a complex, truthful and honest spotlight to the intricacies of CPTSD and how each situation is massively different for everyone.
My honest thoughts? This dark romance checked every box for me. Everything felt intentionally written, a perfect blend of darkness, trust building, trauma, fear, and healing, all wrapped into a gripping plot with a cliffhanger I absolutely did not see coming.
Dante is the kind of character who proves that love isn’t weakness, it’s strength. Despite everything he’s been told about love being a vulnerability, he chooses it anyway. He stays, he fights, and he proves his devotion in ways that make you wish men like him existed outside of fiction.
And then there are moments like:
“Sei mia, ragnetta. Solo mia.” You are mine, little spider. Only mine.
Lines like that capture exactly who Dante is, dark, possessive, and unwavering in his commitment.
And then there’s Lana. Her resilience is what stood out to me the most. What she endures would break anyone, yet she somehow continues to move forward and search for some sense of normalcy. I couldn’t blame her for trusting the wrong people or for the moments where she seemed naive, because the truth is she had been broken in ways no one should ever have to experience.
This book took a lot out of me emotionally. I cried through more scenes than I expected. The heartbreak is real, the trust constantly hangs by a thread, and watching them navigate all of it made every moment between them feel earned.
And those borderline heart break and mentally draining conversations leading into love scene? Completely worth the wait.
The illustrations throughout the book also deserve recognition. They added so much atmosphere to the story and made certain moments even more powerful.
A.R. Aravena truly delivered with this one. And thank you for being there while I was venting through my reading journey and letting me share my raw reactions along the way.
I had the privilege of reading Scream for Me as an ARC reader, and I absolutely loved this book. I finished it in less than 24 hours because once I started, I couldn’t put it down.
The storyline was fantastic and kept me hooked from the very beginning. The plot flows seamlessly between intense drama and the developing love story. Dante and Lana had a love story that began two years before everything fell apart, when Lana’s family stepped in and tore them apart. Cue the drama when Lana ends up being “kidnapped,” and Dante is determined to find her and earn her love back.
Of course, things aren’t that simple. While trying to protect Lana from the people who want to hurt her the most—her own family—Dante ends up making choices that only complicate things further and nearly ruins everything he’s trying to fix.
Definitely check your content warnings beforehand. While it wasn’t overly dark, it does hint at some heavier themes.
One of my favorite parts was the ending. It was surprising—but also not surprising at the same time. Throughout the book you get a bad vibe from certain characters, but as the story moves toward the end you start to think, “Okay, maybe I was wrong about them.” Then BOOM—it all comes into play and you get that satisfying “I KNEW IT!” moment.
Overall, this book keeps you completely invested from start to finish. The pacing, the drama, and the romance all work together perfectly to keep you turning the pages. I’m already ready for book two and can’t wait to see what happens next! 📚🔥
I really enjoyed this book and struggled to put it down, and was gutted when it ended - that cliff hanger? 😱 this book is not a standalone, we’re just awaiting book 2 currently. This book was filled with character building, a mixture of past and present in the form of flashbacks which really added to the storyline.
Just as you think you have understood what is happening or what the truth is, you’ll be hit with another plot twist to keep you on your toes. It was really well written and a very enjoyable read. The author has written the struggle to love again after having your heart broken and trust erased, so well.. the emotion you feel reading it is 100% there! It’s packed with tension, rivalry, passion, secrets and betrayal in every chapter you’ll be flown around like you’re on a rollercoaster.
Scream for me is an emotional mafia dark romance about betrayal, second chances and instant attraction which cannot be denied. You’ll feel connected to every character and find yourself hooked from the get go, you’ll be rooting for Lana most as you watch how strong she is and the trauma that she has endured without giving up. And Dante *chefs kiss* he is morally grey, he is possessive but he has that heart of gold - you’ll be swooning over him too!
I’d 100% recommend this read but I’d advise you to read the trigger warnings if you have any sensitivities.
Scream For Me is a really dark mafia romance that has me 🤯. If you aren't easily triggered and love dark mafia romances, I highly recommend. If you are easily triggered, then read the trigger warnings before opening this book. The character growth is phenomenal and the world building is chef's kiss! It makes you feel all the feels. I also, loved that this book had character art throughout. It was gorgeous and made you feel even more immersed in the story. Scream For Me has an FMC, Lana, that is super strong, but traumatized from abuse/lies and lives with PTSD. Her family has groomed her with lies, deceit and secrets making it almost impossible for her to differentiate fact from fiction. You get to watch Lana grow and learn how to make her own decisions. The MMC, Dante, is doing everything he can to protect his family and the women he loves. Let me tell you, you won't always agree with the decisions he makes and you may want to reach into the book, shake him, and say what were you thinking! You'll still love him though. Warning this book captivates you and pulls you in from page one. You will need to know what happens next and won't want to put it down, so I wouldn't start it right before bed unless you plan on getting no sleep. Especially after reading the end!
This novel has a ton of triggers! Make sure to check those. This is a dark romance, mafia, and second chances. It's about Dante and Lana. At times, I got confused as to whom Lana was talking about. Using "him" doesn't elaborate as to which man Lana was often speaking. Time passes by weirdly in this book. Almost every chapter starts with 1 or 2 weeks later. It's throwing me off. Parts of the book are definitely repetitive. It's very disturbing that Lana thinks it's her fault if a man touches her against her will. "My father always warned me that men are never satisfied with just touching, unlike him. They will take what they want, even if you say no." I feel like I’m missing parts of the story. Was there a novella? I don’t like the fact Dante slaps Lana during sex. Lana's been through too much! The slaps on the face weren't needed. I do like the footnotes for the translations. It's easier than trying to look up on my own. I was drawn to the cover.
"My only purpose in life is to be an object they own."
"She will be mine until death do us part—and even after because there is no way this woman will ever rid herself of me."
"My heart had an owner before, and it’s beating for him again—psycho or not."
This story was very fascinating, but very dark. The world of Dante and Lana is surrounded by human trafficking. Lana has been abused her entire life, so she has so much trauma she has to live with. But Dante desperately wants to protect her from that world. I think the gentle moments with these two are really beautiful and sweet. And I do think showing just how much Lana is struggling after everything she’s endured is super important. I think the way this story tackles this topic is done very respectfully. I also really enjoyed the art work and the translation notes for the words in Italian or other languages. And that ending definitely left me wanting to read what happens next!
I did find some parts to be a bit repetitive and drawn out. Like yes, we get that you are having a hard time trusting Dante for betraying you, I don’t think we need to see the some thoughts over and over again. There were several side characters named who were hard to keep up with. And maybe this is nitpicky of me, but I did find the lack of quotes or quotes in the wrong place to be distracting at times.
There are more issues I had, but those are the big things. Like I said, I did enjoy the overall story, and I may read the next book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What are you supposed to do when your Prince Charming becomes the villain of your story?
When I first started reading this book, I was mad… I was mad at Dante for what he did to Lana and me because I suffered too but as this book went on Dante won me again.
This book leads you down roads you have never seen before. We experience Dante destroying it all but also building it back up. We see Dante rescuing Lana again and with a mind set to give her all that she deserves. We also see Lana broken and utterly destroyed by the life she has lived but she never loses hope on Dante even when her intrusive thoughts scream at her to not trust him. This book made me side with characters during some parts and feel the sorrow during others. It gripped me to the point I couldn’t put it down.
Both Dante and Lana grew so much during this book right before my eyes. I will say Dante has my heart and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for this man.
However, I am in desperate need of part 2 because The way I gasped at the end of that one. My next breath depends on this.
~Thank you so much for this ARC opportunity. This has in no way influenced my opinion~
I enjoyed this. I was first introduced to these characters and story through the prequal Do It For Me. If you didn’t read Do It For Me and jumped straight into this, no need to worry. You can read this without having read the prequal. There are snippets throughout this story which gives you insight to the events prior in the prequal. In saying that I do think you can read this first, but I would recommend starting with the prequal first.
The tension between Lana and Dante was intense. One thing I like about Dante is he lets Lana be in control. He definitely needs to work on his communication. Like I understand why he didn’t tell her things when she wanted to know in the beginning, but he also lied by omission at the end. Which is why the cliffhanger was what it was.
If it weren’t for Dante’s p.o.v's and getting an insight into his reasons for why he did what he did. I feel you could easily come to hate him. The emotional spiraling of Lana’s cptsd, I found was conveyed quite well. I felt like I was there in her mind. There were times I had to step away from the story. I felt a little too consumed with everything that was going on, in the story and my life. Having a child changes you. Seeing Lana come into being a mother to Finn, really showed her growth.
This is a heavy read. I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings.
I got sucked in. The pace was fast, but not chaotic — just that perfect kind of momentum where you blink and suddenly you’re 80% through and emotionally wrecked.
Lana’s story? Gut-punch raw. Her trauma, her survival instincts, the way she’s clawing her way through pain and betrayal — it felt primal. I was right there with her, heart aching, fists clenched. Forced into a marriage she didn’t want, abandoned by the man she thought loved her… and carrying the kind of history that makes you want to scream at the world on her behalf.
And then Dante’s POV hits. And suddenly you’re like… wait. Maybe he’s not the monster she was told he was. Maybe he’s hurting too. Maybe he’s the only one who sees her. Cue me yelling at the book: “LANA. BABE. JUST LISTEN TO HIM.”
Things happen (I don’t spoil, promise 😉), but then Aravena drops a cliffhanger so sharp it left me gasping. Rude. Brilliant. I need Part 2 like, yesterday.
If you want a dark romance that’s emotionally intense, fast-paced, and full of characters who make you scream (in every sense), this one’s a must. I’m obsessed.
ARC REVIEW ✨ dark romance Touch her and 💀 Ex fiancée Cptsd Scarred mmc Mask and primal play
Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice level - 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
° UGHH it's just book 1 and I already cried like 9 times while reading, finished it in just few hours. Yummy delicious Lana's character was beautifully written with trauma and instead of getting annoyed at her for reactions, I felt more attached and empathv for her. IS DANTE ADDED TO MY BOOK HUSBAND LIST!?? 100% YESSS. He ate with his character and was totally opposite of what I kind of expected of him in even better wav. I love them both and couldn't decide who's side to be on. And I cannot wait to get my hands on second book coz I'm dying for their HEA please. Book was on point with kinks and author better pay for my sanity that I lost 😭😭. Artwork was so so good, need to give it to author for doing it by self, she's amazing 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 GIVE ME SECOND BOOK RIGHT AWAY🫶🏽🫶🏽
✨ARC REVIEW✨ Obsessed MMC/Masked MMC Second Chance CNC/Kidnapping Groveling No OWD/Cheating Primal play/praise and degradation Cliffhanger Part 1 of Duet
If you’re not a fan of cliffhangers I’d wait until the next is published. If you’re a fan of The Edge of Darkness trilogy or Cat & Mouse Duet then you found the right book.
Trafficking, violence, DV, grief and gore are just a few TWs in this book that will have you HOOKED.
Dante Cassano is her lost love, one that would fight tooth and nail to get her back, even if by force. He never gave up on them and their future, even if she can’t stand him, even if he’s the villain in her eyes.
Lana Müller has only known pain, from the moment someone first laid hands on her she has never known a true love until Dante. Three blissful months in love, set to get married until he’s not at the end of the aisle. Two years later he’s come back to take what was always his. One problem, she hates him.
⭐️ARC Review ⭐️ The end - i’m screaming!! I’m so angry at Lana, because Finn😭 I feel bad being angry at her because I understand her choice but it wasn’t the right one!!
This book is not for the faint of heart. So if you usually do not read dark romance books, definitely read the triggers and if you do read dark romance but are sensitive to certain things, also read the triggers.
Lana, my girl has been dragged through the trenches and more. Her childhood is heartbreaking and traumatizing and all around wild. She’s a balance of strong and weak if that makes sense.
Finn, is like totally the cutest baby ever!
Dante, gah! In the beginning I was like oh hell, another monster but turns out he is the definition of morally grey! He also didn’t have the best upbringing but it only made him fight harder for himself. I wish he would have been honest sooner😭
Okay besties… I need you to prepare yourselves because "Scream For Me" by A. R. Aravena came out SWINGING. That first chapter? I literally sat there like... “whoa… we’re really doing this?!” And trust me, it does NOT let up.
This is not a soft dark romance. This is gritty, brutal, and emotionally heavy... so seriously, check those trigger warnings because the violence and assault themes are BEYOND. But if you can handle it? The payoff is obsession fuel.
Lana is a mama bear in survival mode, and I respected her so much for that. Everything she does is for her son, even when it means facing the man who shattered her. And Dante? Whew… this man is toxic, possessive, and determined to claw his way back into her life. The tension between them? Thick, messy, and downright addictive.
You’ve got second chance, forced proximity, dark power dynamics, and that “touch her & d!e” energy wrapped in a suspenseful, twisty plot. It’s chaotic, it’s painful, it’s spicy in that unhinged way... and I could not stop turning the pages.
Just know… that cliffhanger? OMG. RUDE!😳

This is the first book of the duet it moves on from where we kind of left our mcs. In this book, you have to be really patient with the fmc like the mmc because of her condition. Like the prequel, it is a challenging read but it is not as intense as the prequel. I was at 90% of the book when I stopped reading the book for a week because I knew that the cliffhanger would kill me if I read it in a sitting, so I waited until I knew I wouldn't be angry at the mcs and heartbroken because of the cliffhanger and then I read it. It was still hard to read it but I wanted it done so that I could move on. tbh I'm not ready to read the second book of the duet because I know it will be as dark as the prequel but I'm ready and motivated for the mcs to have their HEA after all the suffering so I'm waiting for it.
I've just finished reading the book and I have absolutely no idea what I'm feeling. Or rather, I feel so much that I don't know what to single out as the most important thing. It's pain, regret, anger, helplessness. I'm empty and full at the same time.
This book is really only for the hardened and for those who don't mind it, but for those who are able to absorb violence of all kinds, somehow breathe it out, but not forget it.
There's a lot written about the main characters in the reviews of this book, so I won't repeat myself.
They're both beautiful, but there's still a lot of work and problems with Lana.
Anyway, I would cut down on the constant repetition and give room for development.
I'll definitely read the next part, because the author left us on a pretty decent cliffhanger, at the most impossible moment.
THIS IS WILD. I was hooked from the start, we have Lana, poor Lana, she made my heart hurt because this girls been dragged through hell 😩 Then we have Dante, this man, what I would give to have a man this obsessed 😮💨 not only are Lana and Dante, badass, these two are complex, they have a history. This whole story is complex, emotional, intense, not only between Lana and Dante, but the whole story, the whole situation involving their history, then the added twists that I never saw coming 😮💨 I SOBBED reading chapter 66, that broke me, but ya know, you’re gonna have to read it if you wanna know why 👀 THE ENDING? You weren’t joking I am indeed both crying and staring at walls 😮💨 I need book two asap because I’m addicted and I need to know what happens next 🖤
Wow. Just wow. That was amazing. I mean it was deep and definitely need to be in the emotional headspace to read it. Lana, man she goes through it. Her background, her present and yet she still tries to rebuild. Shes a mom, and does everything she can for her son. Her life isnt a great one but she tries for his sake. Dante's love, his obsession, his need, it's powerful and raw. He goes to unimaginable lengths to protect Lana. He tries to shield her but he'll realize that's not what she needs. The cliffhanger at the end...well that plot twist was definitely twisting. My goodness, I need the next book like NOW.
Great read, I'd highly recommend it. However, if you like completed series, you've been warned. Happy Reading and definitely check triggers!
Thank you A.R Aravena for this ARC. The opinion is still my own.
This is a emotional dark romance that has you questioning that little voice inside your head if you should keep going. Yes you should! Lana has lived a terrible and traumatic life. Dante is the one to rescue her and her son.
There is a lot of heavy triggers in this book so have that in mind if you pick it up. I couldn’t put it down when I started to read!
I loved the included italian phrases and the beautiful artwork made by the author herself.
This is the first book in a duology and it ends on a cliffhanger.
I really wanted to like this. I loved the whole premise of the story and all of the tropes. but it felt like it just dragged on and on. She's determined to hate him (which was super understandable at first based off their history) but then months go by and she's still not trusting him at all despite the fact that he hasn't hurt her or her son in any way and basically does whatever she wants. then the mmc, like why does he wait so long to tell her the truth about what happened years ago instead of just letting her hate him? he keeps telling his mom that he's worried it will break her but how is letting her think what she thinks ANY BETTER?
