The Man on the Plane

Rate this book
Grant Price boards a flight expecting nothing more than a long journey to a conference. But the handsome man in the seat beside him awakens something he didn’t realize he was missing.

A week of texts, teasing glances, and private moments pulls them into a connection neither of them expected. “Just some friendly male bonding,” as the man would eventually put it.

Every look, every text message, and every touch deepens their connection. Some encounters fade, others linger, and some might just leave a mark forever.

This is a story about curiosity, exploration, and the quiet need for connection - even for men who consider themselves straight. It is about the tension that builds in unexpected places, the small moments that spark desire, and the boundaries two men are willing to test when there are no rules, no commitments, only mutual understanding and the thrill of being discovered, and in the process, discovering themselves.

‘The quiet moments that turn into something more’ – Bonding and love, airbourne!

Author Egan Sheridan offers a poetically lyrical romance that creates a fine cast of characters to propel this sensitive sexual evolving story. The quality of his scriptive skills is evident in the Prologue – ‘There is a quiet hunger that lives in many men, a need that is rarely acknowledged and even less often spoken aloud. It is not about romance or commitment, though it may be found within them. It is a craving for a different kind of intimacy: the rare and profound connection that comes from being truly seen by another man without judgment….This is a story about that hunger.…’ Few authors of MM romance novels offer such substantive thoughts before a story begins.

Grant and Evan evolve as the principal characters of this unique and warmly significant story, as the author’s outline defines: ‘Grant Price boards a flight expecting nothing more than a long journey to a conference. Some encounters fade, others linger, and some might just leave a mark forever.’

Eloquent and tender, this is one fine novel by an author of importance – a story that blends awareness with sensitivity that may serve as a wakeup call for many!

So tantalising
Grant is on his way to a week long conference and he meets a guy on a plane called Evan and it’s just casual talking and they work out they’re going to the same conference. But then there’s a mixup with Evans hotel room so he moves to a new hotel and it’s the same hotel that Grant is staying at. So they go down to the bar have a few drinks and start talking and out of nowhere Evan brings up something that every man in this bar is going to do that night in the comforts of their hotel rooms. They exchange phone numbers and before you know it, they are teasing each other in separate rooms via Text. And that’s basically how this story starts. This is a slow burn but it teases you along the way and I’ve got to say I found it quite exhilarating how it went from one act and then snowballed along to bigger acts. But I don’t want to give it away just know this book is about a connection. It’s about passion. It’s about an understanding and I’ve got to say I really enjoyed this book.

I went into this book assuming it was a standard story of two men exploring their boundaries, but it turned out to be so much more. Egan Sheridan has created a world where a gay relationship is treated with the same natural simplicity as any other.

The progression from friendship to a "no strings attached" arrangement, and finally to a lifelong partnership, was incredibly well-paced. It didn't feel like I was reading a typical M/M romance trope; instead, it felt like a gradual, inevitable journey. It’s an interesting, low-stress, and deeply satisfying read for anyone who appreciates a story where love is just love, without the weight of societal judgment.

Loved it!

I think we've all experienced the "what ifs" when meeting someone on a plane, or at a conference, or in a place that we just happened to visit. The story perfectly captured the excitement and questioning of a new love interest. I have already downloaded another book by Sheridan and can't wait to begin reading.

Grant and Evan are on a flight to a work conference where they share conversations, meals and eventually start to explore even more over the course of the multi day business trip. This was an “out of the office” kind of story, full of first times, spice and a bit of romance? 😉

Like floating down a river

I've read a few of this author's works and the lyrical purpose makes me feel relaxed and peaceful. I enjoyed the main characters journey in the events of their life's and the internal. Thank you for this excellent writing.
