Moroad Motorcycle Club #1

Wrapped Around Him

Rate this book
Empathy is an emotion that has always evaded Cam Farrell, president of the Moroad Motorcycle Club and prisoner #18794. He's gambled with his life to finish the gun chain running across the states, get the majority of his MC brothers working inside the prison system, and place the smoke screen in Federal, Idaho. He only needs one more thing—Christina. What he wants, he takes, and freedom doesn't mean a damn thing.

Christina Nickelson keeps to herself and uses her part-time job for Silver Valley's Department of Children's Services to help those who are also alone and hurting. The anger and fear she thought she'd overcome after her parents were murdered resurfaces when an ex-convict and leader of a motorcycle club claims a teenage boy in her care. She can't let her worries go. Putting herself at risk, she finds herself held hostage, witnessing a murder, and questioning fate. The only person she can rely on is the biker who will kill her if she tries to leave.

Nope, just nope.

**Spoilers and sarcastic review ahead, stop while you have the chance **

So, she had a difficult childhood and she tells a prisoner about all her problems. He gets out of jail and kidnaps her to make her feel better and get over all her problems (because that is definitely gonna help...).
She's all scared and crying and wanting to get away but he's confused, doesn't know why she acts like that (the thought that kidnapping her is bad never even crosses his mind).

He and his MC kill a man in front of her and in front of his 17-year-old son. Wow, he's so strong and powerful!

He ruins her life, gets her to quit her job, threatens her every chance he gets and kind of tortures her mentally.
But he only does it because he wants her to become stronger. What a wonderful, thoughtful man!

I stopped when she starts falling for him because, well, it was just too much for me.

Was it love or was it Stockholm syndrome? Is he a monster or is he a man who felt connected with a woman during prison correspondence and for once in his life actually shared his true feelings? Cam is prisoner inmate 18794, the anonymous person who helped Christina retain her sanity after her parents are viciously murdered. She writes to the anonymous inmate via a prison program that allows inmates to share their history and thoughts with a citizen. Christina just thinks if she can get in the mind of a true criminal she can understand her own thoughts as well as the murderer’s thoughts. The correspondence covers a two year period. Cam has never been loved by anyone in his life. He has never opened his heart and his feelings to anyone because he knows “no one cares for me.” Christina is 28 and Cam is 44. Cam becomes obsessed with Christina and vows to find her when he is released from prison. Of course we know that criminals have many resources in prison, so Cam is able to find Christina’s location and it’s in his own town. Christina is a CPS social worker for DFCS. She meets Cam when sixteen year old Jeremy, one of her cases and a child she has grown to love, is determined to be Cam’s son and Cam is given custody of the boy. The machinations Cam went through to gain contact with Christina is reflective of his obsession. But he’s a hard man. He ultimately kidnaps Christina and applies psychology associated with prison such as solitary (keeping her in a room for days without contact) to break her down and make her dependent upon him. He’s really not a likable person during this period. But then the letters the two of them shared over the two years are divulged by the author in such a way you begin to understand their psyche. Your heart begins to soften towards Cam and you see Christina begin to bloom under Cam’s pressure to make her more independent and self-sufficient. She has basically lived a solitary, lonely life since the death of her parents.
The romance between Cam and Christina is poignant, real and raw. At the beginning he takes her control away but then he gives her complete control even by placing a gun in her hand and telling her to shoot him. Some readers will never accept Christina’s kidnapping and Cam’s initial treatment of her but I got it. It was a means to an end that resulted in a deep, lasting love and eventually gave Christina back her independence and self-worth. I love this author’s writing style and I have read many of her books. Her style and capability to draw a reader into the characters and story has grown immensely with each book she releases. This is the kind of romance that stays with you when you read the last line and you keep battling with yourself about accepting or rejecting both Cam and Christina’s actions. In my mind, he was not a monster but a man who grew to love the woman he corresponded with for two years and decided he must have her in his life. Ultimately, Christina had a choice to leave or to stay.
Cam is the president of the Moroad MC made up completely of convicted felons both released and in prison. He understands that the men who have prison backgrounds have few choices out in the real world. He is committed to providing a family of sorts for them and a means for them to live their life both outside and inside the prison walls. It’s a unique storyline and one that intrigued me.
Wrapped ends with a happy for now and I would not classify it as a cliff hanger. The ending satisfied me to the point that if I chose not to read the next in the series, I would be fine. But I do plan to read book 2 (to be released spring 2015) as it is a continuation of Cam and Christina’s story as well as the continued activities of the Moroad MC. This book is sure to cause a lot of discussion and varying opinions about Cam and Christina’s romance. That to me signifies it is a good book because it will generate heated discussions about the right and the wrong of Cam’s actions and motivations. Anytime an author can generate such emotions from a reader shows the author has done a good job. For those who have a cheating trigger, don’t worry, there is none in this book. I highly recommend this book even if you don’t like MC romances. The majority of this book is about Cam and Christina and their journey to find they are a perfect match.

Wrapped Around Him is book 1 in the Moroad Motorcycle Club. Let me start by saying that I really like this author but this book left me very torn because I didn't like Cam or Christina. I found Cam to be one of the most unrepentant characters I have read in a long time. So basically Christina is a young 18 year old who starts writing to a prisoner after the murder of her parents. She's so lost and this prisoners letters become a lifeline for her until he tells her he will no longer correspond. Fast forward and Christina is now a Social Worker. One of her closed cases is a teenager named Jeremy who lost his mom and lucky for him his dad showed up. Can you guess who? Yes Cam who proceeds to kidnap Christina and completely take over her life and while she struggles lightly she falls in line too quickly for me. Towards the end of the story Christina learns the extent of Cam's desire to own her at any cost. To be honest after the warning from the Reds I had a feeling what it was but was still shocked that Cam went that far. Anyway not my favorite but I purchased the first 3 books in this series so I plan to continue.

Meh...😏

I was not all that crazy about this story or the main characters.. It had enough of something to allow me to finish the book, though, which was why I gave it 3 stars ⭐..

But I am just not crazy about the heroine or anti-hero of this tale. I wasn't all that deeply hooked by their plight either.. And once I learned that the first 3 books in this series will be about this couple here, I decided not to continue further into this series..

I did decide to at least try book 1 of the spin off to this series, "Blow Softly".. hopefully that story is way better..🤞🤞

I absolutely love MC books. I inhale them. This book was a fantastic read. I literally sat and devoured it on a rainy Sunday afternoon and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Cam is the President of Moroad MC and he's an ex convict. Then we have Christina. These two are so different which made the story addictive. What Cam wants Cam gets and he wants Christina.

This was a real fast paced story. I loved the storyline. The twist was great. I read lots and I do mean lots. I must admit this is one of my favourite MC books. I'm so happy this is part of a series. After that ending I'm so looking forward to reading more of this series. This book is a keeper on my kindle for a re-read. I loved it.

I haven’t read a lot of MC books…mainly because I am quite picky with them, but dear God this was amazing! Real, honest, brutal, dirty and passionate, this story will stick with you for quite a while.
Our story follows Cam, an ex-convict and proud president of the Moroad Motorcycle Club. After being released from prison, he finds out he has a son, Jeremy. Jeremy’s mother’s dead and he has been alone and traumatized for the most of his life. This is where Christina, our heroine comes in. She is responsible for Jeremy’s well-being since she works as a social worker for the county.
Christina herself has a dark past and she carries her own wounds that for so long have kept her isolated from the rest of the world. Her only contact is her correspondence with prisoner #18794; a contact that ended just before his release from the state penitentiary.
Hanging tightly onto her job, she doesn’t let anyone in until a visit to Cam’s house turns her life upside down. Forced to stay with him after stepping into the premises of his home, she fears for her life at the hands of the rugged and tough biker.
Cam has his own private agenda for kidnapping Christina and the more she struggles to escape him, the more determined he becomes on keeping her. Desire, lust and passion blossom and true identities, emotions and secrets come to the surface.
The writing was very well done. The characters were well developed, multidimensional and real. Cam doesn’t ask for excuses for what he is; he knows what he wants and he takes it without remorse. Christina is a very honest heroine, with insecurities and fears that are very relatable.
The plot of the book was very solid, creating storylines and characters instead of jumping into the usual cliché that is instant attraction/love. We get to experience the story along with the characters instead of simply reading it. I loved it. Excellent work.
I cannot wait for the second book. Lovers of the MC genre, this is for you.

Loved this! It's a little dark because Cam kidnaps Christina and tries to break her into staying and depending on him and she keeps fighting until she finds out he's Prisoner #18794 and then she accepts him because she's been thinking of Prisoner #18794 and she's known him. Even until then, Cam tries to woo her until she's ready.

Cam takes what he wants and as you find out the steps he took to make sure he got Christina, a little psycho, yes. He doesn't cheat on her and is very protective and loyal to her and still very brutal when dealing with club matters. I like how he's different with the heroine. Around 90% I was very afraid that this was a no HEA book because I didn't know this would have a continuation. I actually had my heart in my throat as I read Cam's decisions to save Jeremy and protect his family. Although I kind of wanted a closed HEA to the book, I'm glad there will be more of Cam and Christina's story the next one.

Yikes! First off - Cliff Hanger alert - a big one.

The H in this was SUPER possessive. And by that I mean it's like the h didn't even own a brain/mouth. Everything thing she said/did to express herself to the h, after being abducted by him, was like she was trying to communicate with a wall. It wasn't one of those super sexy, rough alpha things, the man was just plan ol' this-is-why-I'm-single dumb. When he finally wraps his idiot of a brain around some of the things the h has expressed, it's like it was all his idea and he's just NOW coming to that conclusion. God it was irritating.
I felt like this book had SO much potential. It was >RIGHT THERE<, but the author just couldn't pull it off for me.
Too many instances where the H was OTT blinded by his own selfish needs of what his heroine needed in order to rely fully on the H. He was trying to break her so that when she "awoke" from her daze of being abducted, she'd fully be in love/lust and all things awesome with the H. Talk about obtuse.
Anyway, blaaah! Try it - maybe you'll like it , but at least wait for book 2.

WRAPPED AROUND HIM is a difficult book for me to review. The writing is fluid and the story is well told but I felt that the relationship between Cam and Christina lacked something. Cam has been biding his time for the day that he can bring Christina to him. When she all but falls in his lap he gets her in a way that doesn't show any regard for her at all. Christina finds herself facing the consequences of trying to work out her personal issues through communications with a violent prisoner. When things finally come to a head they don't feel well placed together. I didn't get a sense of passion or any strong emotions from Christina or Cam. I expected for everything to be more pronounced between them. I expected more impactful emotional elements to the story that I just didn't feel. All in all, this felt like a romance without the engrossing passion, drama, and action that I wanted. There are no real moments of even fleeting joy or happiness between Cam and Christina, even when they come together physically. It was more like a feeling of this is what Cam decided he wanted, Christina gave in, and that is that. I wanted to be swept away into the drama of this story but I just didn't quite get there this time.

"You're okay." he whispered the soft curs springing out across the pillow. "Someday, you're going to wrap around me and ask me to protect you, instead of thinking that damn blanket is going to save you."
I was not sure how I was going to like this new book even though I am a huge fan of Debra Kayn. I even told the author as much. As a blogger, I want to go into every book with an open mind and sometimes an author we love is not always going to write a book we love each time. The author said from the start that this book was going to be different then what we were used to with Bantorus and it is.
Debra Kayn went above and beyond my expectations. She raised the bar on the MC genre and it will be very hard for anyone to top her. She takes on what you think you know about MC's and makes you question what you would be ok with and what you wouldn't be ok with. This is not the TV show SOA. Debra Kayn writes with the knowledge and expertise of someone who undoubtledly knows her shit. She leaves no room for doubt that she is educated in this genre. She gives us a no holds barred look into the Moroad MC.
Besides raising the bar, the emotions she invokes in this novel will leave you questioning everything that you thought you would accept in a book. The relationship between Cam and Cristina is not the normal relationship. Everything about this relationship will make you question what you think is usually black and white. Debra Kayn pulls no punches and makes no apologies. She does not sugarcoat anything and is not afraid of making you feel uncomfortable.
I was hesitant to give my review because I truly believe every reader should experience this book themselves. It took me a minute after I read it to process how I felt about it. Way after you are done you will still be thinking about this book.
To me, that is a sign of a great author.
Read this book and decide for yourself.
-Shauna-
"Shoot me, baby," he whispered as his lips came down and captured hers.
Shocked, the overwhelming sensation of suffocating kept her from fighting him off. She held her breath, going through what he'd told her.
Shoot him?
She could shoot him.
She would shoot him.
His lips softeneing and pulled back. She sucked in a breath, lightheaded. Then he went back to kissing her. She lay flat unable to lift her arms, shocked after years of dreaming and imagining what his kiss would be like, and she was unprepared."

So many thinks wrong already....
Leading Lady writes to inmate (which happens to be our anti-hero) for 2 years then by chance she’s his sons Social Worker.

My issues:
1. She doesn’t know the prisoners name she was writing only his #. - you can’t write mail to an inmate without their name so that’s crap
2. She doesn’t know what he looks like. -since she’d have his name to write to him a quick google search or inmate database search will give you a photo so crap again.
3. She says the prison gave her permission to write him. -you don’t find a pen pal by contacting a prison. You have to find them through a PP database or know someone so more crap
4. Hero threatens her with a knife outside of the courthouse (I think that’s where it was) to stay away from him & his son. - you’re telling me she wouldn’t report being threatened with a knife and having it pressed against her throat? Especially since her on page 1-2 she says she doesn’t think he’s a fit father? crap
5. Members of the MC bust her cars window and forcefully remove her from her vehicle. Then drag her into their Clubhouse. (They do let her go a few minutes later). - once again a social worker doesn’t report having her vehicle damaged, being assaulted & being kidnapped. She says b/c her boss would fire her for checking in on an old case?! crap

I won’t go on... I just found so many issues with this book so early it made me Mad! Damnit I wanted a book as well written as Chief & Jett !!

I have no idea how to rate Wrapped Around Him, so bear with me while I talk myself through this totally unexpected but kinda, sorta, really effed up book.

It’s dark, gritty and really not what I expected. You won’t find any love advice being dished out, in fact I don’t think the L word was mentioned. Don’t get me wrong, I like my balls to the walls biker books, the grittier the better, but I need my anti-heros to have at least one redeeming characteristic. Other than wanting Christina and taking her, he has none. Of course he never professed his love for her, or any feelings at all besides wanting her, so those aren’t really redeeming characteristics. He doesn’t trust his MC brothers, he only looks out for himself, he has no empathy, nothing. Truly, his dark and twisty totally messed up character should have been the best part of the book but he felt… flat. He never grew as a character at all which added to the flatness.

Christina wasn’t much better. She had a life interrupted at 18 when her parents were brutally murdered. She never got past it and turned into a scared introvert who refused to have any relationships with anyone. For companionship, she ended up corresponding with a prisoner known by only a number to her. Cam, AKA #18794, becomes a lifeline to her and her only “friend”. Unsurprisingly, he gets out and kidnaps her (let this be a lesson to all, correspond with criminals and they get out and find you – not a good thing). Christina was so stunted in her growth from when her parents were murdered, she almost came off as mentally disabled. She was also a doormat, then would show some fire at the absolutely worst times and do stupid crap. I hate doormat heroines who never come into their own. Hate them.

I didn’t even like most of the other characters that were introduced. I’m kind of shocked because I love Debra Kayn’s Bantorus MC. She wrote some really rich, worthy of my time characters that I wanted to know more about. Here, Jeremy was my favorite character, hands down and he was just a kid. I did not like the direction that Cam was pointing him toward though, so in the future, there’s a decent chance I won’t like him. As for the rest, they just kind of stayed in the background and I felt nothing for them. When one of them got offed, I shrugged. That’s bad.

Another problem I had with the book was a lot of the situations that happened, I found myself saying “WTF? That didn’t make sense. Why did they do it that way?” I also questioned the writing because several things felt too convenient for me, seemingly to make the plot work better. The twist at the end, if it would have been explained on the front end would have alleviated some of this.

The book ended on a HFN (actually more okay for now, I can’t say they were happy, just existing). The series will have an ongoing story line, so some would say it had a kind of cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers and the ending did not bother me.

So now to my rating. I’m still torn. It sounds like I didn’t enjoy the book at all, but I did get something out of it, I’m just not sure what. If I go by the rating system, this would be a 2.5 star book but I kind of think it deserves more than that. I read it through in one sitting and I keep thinking about it, so I think that deserves an added .5 star.

There are so many thoughts running through my head right now about this read, but I guess I’ll start with…not what I expected, but enjoyed it. When reading the blurb, although we’re told that Christina is held hostage, I was a bit surprised to find out “who” held her and how things went down.

Christina just can’t seem to let one of her cases go, even though it’s been closed for months. She finds herself gravitating to this teenage boy’s “off limits” home and gets herself into trouble, being held hostage. Little does she know that the person holding her hostage is the one person she trusted most.

Cam is the president of a MC and will never change his ways or who is it. He makes that perfectly clear from the beginning and lives by that throughout the book. He’s a criminal true and true and has served his time over and over again to prove it. So why is he so interested in Christina? Seems like he knows her better than anyone else. The reason is interesting, but will Christina find it interesting too?
I’m not typically one to “fall for the bad guy”, but in this case, the Author did a good job making both of these characters “real” to me. There was no BS as to who they were, what they did and how they felt. We were able to connect to each character through rotating POV’s, which only added to the story for me.

There are a lot of things that are left unfinished in this first book. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

Wow! Author Debra Kayn continues to amaze me with her brilliant storytelling in her latest book, Wrapped Around Him, book 1 of her Moroad MC series. It was truly a gritty, raw, powerful story that I could not get enough of. Cam is president of Moroad MC, an ex-convict and fighting for his freedom. He is a badass biker who will do anything necessary to get what he wants and protect what and who he deems as his. Cam has set his sights on Christina, social worker to his son Jeremy and whom he has been corresponding with while in prison. He has helped her through her grieve and thoughts of revenge on the man who murdered her parents. They've developed a connection and Cam takes questionable actions to keep her with him. Christina has always known right from wrong and even though she fights him at first, she starts to question her beliefs. I understood why Cam did the bad things he did in order to protect his club and those he call his family. These two had incredible chemistry, whether fighting or having sex and I was happy to see Christina adapt to MC life to be with Cam. This story had me at the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series which cannot come soon enough for me.

So this sounded really promising…

The first few chapters building up the whole mystery was good.. I liked it.. Especially the whole prisoner #18795 scenario… and the story behind it… So the 2 stars for that..
But there was something missing unfortunately…
The writing was alright, the story line… errr ok I guess…. The atmosphere surrounding the whole book though…… Booooooooring :(

I was confused why he wanted to kidnap her and change her????
Also.. I didn't think much of the H + h…
I found the hero a bit of a creep :/

Maybe I've overread too many biker romance books, that I've read my fair share of favourite ones and this one just didn't impress as me as much...

Cam he's the type of man who doesn't apologize for his actions, "because I want you and I take what I want," he said. "I've never lied to you about what kind of man I am." He's really bossy too, "You need to get on birth control. I don't want anything between us, and a baby isn't in my plans." He has a great way of celebrating things, "he picked her up, kissed her hard, and growled. "How about we celebrate by getting naked and letting me put my c*** in you." When Cam was at ease I thought he was real pleasant, "Cam smacked Christina's a**. "Go ahead and get supper going. I'm going to run the kid to town." Cam he doesn't mind being late when he knows his girl is in the moos, "can't." He groaned, taking another, long hungry look at her. "It's bad enough you were humping my leg this morning." I'm going to enjoy this series just like every other one of Debra's.

4.5 stars. I’m really starting to like this author, after reading nearly all of the decent MC reads out there this author is actually quite good. Hero is 44 and heroine 26. (I’ve read Chief and Jett, but for me the age difference was a bit to young and left me feeling uncomfortable). Cam and Christina’s age difference is more realistic.

Christina starts corresponding with prisoner no 18794. She wants to find out if a criminal is a good person or not or if they regret the crimes they have committed. Christina’s parents were murdered. When Cam is released from prison he kidnaps Christina, makes her quit her job and give up her apartment, he wants to own her and look after her. Christina had a great bond with prisoner no 18794 and she soon realises this prisoner is Cam. Although I didn’t like the fact that he basically made Christina give up her life I did in fact like Cam, he’s good to Christina and she realises she does need him.

Cam and Christina’s story is a three book series and we also get a peak into a different MC life, it’s different from what I’ve read before, Cam trusts no one (expect Christina) and this MC has about 200 members, over 100 of them serving time in the state penitentiary.

Straight onto book two.

Book 1 in the Moroad Motorcycle Club series.

Christina Nickleson is a social worker still trying to come to terms with her own tragic past. The job she does takes her mind of the sad and insular life she has; focusing her on children who need help the most. A case that has become important to her is Jeremy, a 16 year old who lost his mother to an overdose and has recently been taken in by his father; Cam Farrell - President of Moroads MC who was released from a long stint in prison just 18 months ago. Having the case closed hasn't stopped Christina's concern. Even though Mr Farrell has made it abundantly clear that her attention is not wanted, Christina finds herself still sitting outside his home anyway.

Cam Farrell has Christina Nickleson in his sights. Knowing that even the threat of death isn't enough to stop her concern for Jeremy, he ensures that she becomes trapped in the net he has laid for her. Finally taking her captive, he goes about forming a connection with her in the most hostile way. He is a patient man, he has grown up in and out of prison and knows that he will eventually break down the walls that she has constructed around herself. But when danger arises, will he be able to protect her or will he be the one to put the target on her back himself?

Will Cam be the one to finally provide Christina with the protection she seeks after the grizzly murder of her family? Will she learn to trust him? and what makes the numbers 18794 so important to both of them?

This is certainly a different spin on MC romance. It is a twisted tale of tragedy, incarceration and obsession. I can't say too much about the storyline as it twists and turns and goes in directions you don't necessarily expect it to.

Christina is a woman who is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her parents. Her only life line ended 18 months ago and now she uses her work to keep her going. The journey she takes with Cam is a tough one. It begins so aggressively but he becomes a central part in her ability to move on from the past. Cam well he is a complicated man. I wasn't overly sure of him at first. When he goes after something, he doesn't do it conventionally or even nicely. He is a rough and tough biker and he makes no apologies for it. He is determined to have Christina and he goes about making her reliant on him completely. There are however reasons and methods in his madness and although he isn't the nicest biker character I have come across (I think this is very much intended by the author though), you will grow to love his commitment to Christina.

I would be lying if I said this was the best MC book I've read because quite frankly it isn't. I admit I found it quite complicated at times. There is a lot of club politics going down throughout the book and I got a little confused with the different gangs... Blue's, Red's and the various other characters who also popped up. I'm not sure if that's because I haven't read any of her other MC books though. I would however add that I found the last 20% fast paced and exciting. Be warned it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it has left me looking forward to the direction Christina and Cam's journey will take next.

A interesting, if not a little complicated twist on MC romance. Great race to the finish leaving me looking forward to the next instalment.

This is an unusual story. A twisted relationship between an ex-convict and president of a criminal Motorcycle club, and a woman who has survived the murder of her parents, all alone and terrified. At first, I thought the male character would force his touch on her or show her some emotion. He's a hardened criminal, but he acts in an ironically detached way. Threads, kidnapping, Cam resorts to all kinds of means to isolate Christina from her painfully constructed freedom by robbing her of her identity. Creepy, dark, but it didn't really come off as such thanks to some special elements in the plot line and because he never exerts violence towards her.

With a dual POV, the writer offers the characters' thoughts as their strange bond develops. I was very curious as to how it would all play out. After all, they're linked by letters they used to exchange while he was in jail behind an anonymous number and she had questions about what it meant to be bad or to have murderous impulses.

I was very sorry for all the fear and loneliness Christina has gone through. She's had a life that deserves compassion. Cam's life has been unforgiving too, though he's given back as much pain as he's gotten. This novel packs a compelling story. I appreciated that the ruthless biker never forces himself on Christina. He gives her ample space to accept his utter conquest of her life. He overpowers her in every way, yet prefers to adjust to the fact that he's the same person she had a powerful connection with for years through open-hearted letters.

I liked his somewhat gentle approach, despite the helplessness she finds herself in. Cam also struggles with conflicting emotions. She puts up a fight, trying to escape at every turn, but her profound sorrow over her traumatic past leaves a wound that he slowly mends in weird but moving ways.

It was very interesting to read thanks to the words that create a thorough tapestry of the lives of both characters. Their first time together was absorbing and intense. He possesses her soul and her body. It was immensely effective after an episode of brutality that protected her life. Wow!

There are several elements I enjoyed in the story. The inner workings of a criminal motorcycle gang, the letters Cam and Christina exchanged for two years, or how they adapt to each other through their opposing stance in life, are aspects that intertwine comfortably to make the reading something to look forward to.

Danger, passion, right or wrong, deliciously hot intimacy and a twisted relationship between two people who strangely complement each other, this story had me hooked. Sometimes the characters were a bit maddening with his overbearing dominance or her needy submission, yet I could understand their personalities with their flaws and fears.

The last part of the novel is full of danger, hard decisions and rough surprises that had my heart pounding. I truly suffered but loved it. Then... the end. Oh? There's a second part! I-just-need-it... For Life (2). Considering the good writing style and the tough, but emotional story line, I definitely want to keep an eye on this author.

Not what I was expecting from an MC book, but it a great way!
This book deals with an MC comprised of convicts and ex-cons. While I cannot relate to that lifestyle, it was a really nice change of pace.

Christina and Cam, an unlikely couple and at times explosive! They are like peanut butter and jelly… two totally different substances and textures that work oh-so-well together. Add in a troubled teen, gun runs, prison visits, and a strip club and you have one heck of a story!

The love between these two is not insta-love. It is knockdown, drag out, and lock her in the bedroom till she calms down love. And because they fight so patiently, you can only imagine how hot the sex is between these two!

I am not sure you can call the ending to book one a HEA, but it is just… an unfinished story that will leave you wanting more. I can’t wait for more! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars

~~~
Cam Farrell, President of the Moroad MC, is finally released from prison, so now it's back to business making sure his club is protected and flourishing.
Christina Nickelson, a social worker, has worked a case close to her heart, that of Jeremy, and even though he's now with Cam, she can't seem to let it go. Little does she know that her choice to walk away was taken from her from the first moment she and Cam communicated.
Cam and Christina's relationship is rocky at first, especially since it's one-sided but as Cam proves to Christina that he wants her in his life because he cares for her, we see her warming up to him. The way Cam got Christina to be with him is not the normal way, but hey, whatever works, right?
As Cam shares that part of him with Christina, he also has to make sure his MC sees that he's still Prez by taking care of them. There is a lot turmoil and at times I had to stop and "connect the dots" to see the full picture. One particular thing that Cam did for Christina, to make sure she knew she was safe, just melted my heart because he didn't want her ever fearing for her life.
I did like that, even though it was an MC book, it showed some sweetness between Cam and Christina. What totally caught me off guard were the last couple of chapters, and let me say, I did not see that coming. I'm looking forward to the second book because I need to see where they stand on now??? ~ Kara, 4 stars
++ I won a copy of ARC during the FB giveaway recently ++
It is a struggle for me to finish this book. Not because I hated it, I love Debra Kayn. She's one of my must read auto-buy author. To be fair Debra did warn her readers that this new series (Moroad MC) will be darker, it's either you love it or hate it. I struggle with Cam's dark character, I want him to be redeemable dammit but he won't be swayed that way. I struggle with the kidnap of Christina. No, he didn't rape/abuse her physically but I do struggle with him taking away all that she had because he wants her to depend on him 101%.
About up to 80% of the book I struggle to reconcile with Cam's character. I had to take breaks in between because I got a tad frustrated but like I said I love Debra Kayn's writing. Her words flowed in this book, she nailed every emotion. So what made me changed my mind about Cam? Not going to spoil it for others who have yet to read it but it was what he did towards the end of the book. He's still not my favourite hero ... or is it anti-hero.
I wouldn't say this story has a huge cliffhanger (God, I hate those kind of books, I stay away from series like that). It does have somewhat of HEA but you are left with unresolved issues. For that I looked forward to the next book in the series.
Oh, we do get to see Lilly again. Had a huge smile on my face when I read Lilly's scene with Christina. How I miss the Bantorus MC. This is a great read, I do recommend Moroad MC series if you're into MC romance. Leave whatever conception that you have about what a MC hero should be at the door, otherwise you'll be struggling like me.
About the cover of the book. As a reader, thank you Ms Debra Kayn for creating something different. The artwork resonates what the book is all about. It's a fresh change from those hunky barechest models. I like it very much.
** yes, I know I sort of overused the word "struggle" but it really was a struggle for me :)
OK so let me start off with this...I don't usually read MC books I do however like them.
I am perplexed with my feelings about this book. Why? because I know in my head I am all like ‘a woman kidnapped??” That's not right…..wth!! But then something inside me is really loving Cam. I know I can hear all the critics…...whatever tomato ~ tomaaaatoe….I liked it no; I loved it! If you are into stories that grab you and hold your attention, make you feel deeply, make you think outside your own box than hey ..this is for you. I mean I know what most people will say about this…...and its ok its their opinion. This is MY opinion. LOVED!
Debra Kayn I am now a fan and I can not wait to read more…..I don't want to spoil anything in this book for anyone, all I will say is ...Love. What determines love or how you fall in love? If you fall in love by looking at someone, by talking with them, by writing letters, or maybe even being held against your will. There are no laws on love, there are no rules about it. The only rules or laws are the ones that are self imposed or even publicly imposed. Some people think its wrong to fall for someone who has mistreated you to an extent, hey ...I get that I do, but and here is my BUT, sometimes, there are those moments in a relationship where LOVE comes in forms that are not the conventional way.Two people held prisoner by individual circumstances. Will they ever be free? Will their time come to enjoy their freedom? What will that freedom mean to Christina? Does it include Cam? Cam, will he remain free? Can he continue to protect Christina? I loved that this is a story that has grit! YES grit..no fluffy stuff going on here, I love that this grabbed me and took me on this journey with Cam and Christina. I know you will too.
