An Italian grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter are living under the same roof after years apart
As an Italian American, I can say this was probably the most accurate depiction of growing up in an Italian family. The author had succeeded and weaved the intergenerational women together seamlessly.
This story revolves around an Italian grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter. The three women’s namesake is from a statue in Italy. Each woman is going through their own lives as they begin to live with each other under one roof.
The characters in this book lifted off the page. There was a lot of emotional depth in this story and I absolutely loved the setting being Little Italy. This was different from most books because it was a third person perspective and I really enjoyed that.
Wellington Rollins wrote a beautiful debut that made me thankful to be from an Italian American family. I loved the food references and the little pieces of the language woven in. This was a debut that I’ll always remember.
