Baby, Think it Over

Rate this book
Kedon can't wait to go on the three week break from school. His parents are off on a vacation for two of them and he's going to have the entire house all to himself. Except he forgot about a school project. One that would be half of his science grade, a grade he needs in order to graduate. The project? The class needs to "partner up" and take a baby home.

Luckily, it's only one of those computerized things, and Kedon's convinced it's not really a physiological exercise in "The Effects of a Child on a Young Couple". He thinks it's a not so veiled attempt at sex education; as in scaring the hell out of the seniors into not having any. Thing is, most of the seniors are already eighteen years old. It’s going to fall pretty much on deaf ears.

And to top it off the great Tarell Alan has decided Kedon is going to be his "wife" for the project. But Kedon's not worried. Tarell did it to prove a point. He isn't really going to spend the whole three weeks helping Kedon to take care of a baby. Especially one that seems to cry all the time.

But Kedon turns out to be wrong. Now Kedon is on his feet constantly, walking a colicky baby and running from a horny daddy! What’s a boy to do?

Hi, my name is Hurri Cosmo and I am a happy ending junkie. I always have been. You can be pretty rest assured everything I write will have one. I am not big on angst. I believe we get enough of that in real life so when I go to read something, to make the real world go away for awhile, I will most likely not chose something that will make me cry. So I write for those people who, at least occasionally, feel the same way. I’m okay with the fact I will probably never write anything “important” but I guess I will have to see where my imagination takes me. I would love it if you would come along.

This is a hilariously funny, sweet romance between two high school students who are suddenly not only facing their raging hormones, but the sudden responsibility of taking care of a baby. It’s all for a psychology school project, but certainly Kedon and to some degree Tarell take it a lot more seriously than I expected. It makes for great entertainment, and a sweet modern-day fairy tale that has plenty of romance, hot moments, and a touching ending.

Kedon is a bit of a loner. His classmates have never really noticed him, and the few times when they have, it did not end well for him. His two best friends are gay, so he is as well – just by association. The truth is that he is gay as well, and has been lusting after the totally unattainable, supersexy and ultrarich Tarell, whose family runs the city. Kedon is shocked to find out Tarell picks him to partner with for the “baby project”, and only gradually realizes Tarell is serious about him. Not that they even get around to doing anything, not with a colicky baby around, even though she is only a doll. Kedon has a big heart and a vivid imagination, and he needs a good science grade.

Tarell has had his eye on Kedon for a while. Initially all he wants is inside Kedon’s pants, but as he gets to know his classmate better and begins to understand what truly drives him, Tarell falls deeper than he ever thought possible. Suddenly keeping him safe and happy, making him smile, is more important than almost anything else. And with someone else after Kedon, Tarell has his hands full. He learns some valuable lessons while he is at it, one of them that money cannot buy everything.

If you like stories that sweep you off your feet into a fairy tale like version of the present, if two high school students in their senior year struggling with the reality of life seem interesting, and if you can suspend your disbelief and enter a world where romance and heat go hand in hand with new love and sleepless nights, then you will probably like this novella as much as I did. I loved it from beginning to end, and ran the gamut of emotions from laughing my head off to shedding a few tears. If you’re looking for a fun, uplifting read, give this one a try.

Not sure how this story was supposed to 'be'. It felt as if the main characters should have been 28 year old shifters, perhaps with a real baby instead of 18 year old humans with the doll from their school project. The story also dragged. It was too long and too slow. Not one for me.

What the heck did I just read? Was I supposed to take this seriously, or is the author pranking me?

First off, suspend all notions of realism. There's none in this book. Secondly, get rid off any expectations for fleshed out characters whose actions make even a lick of sense. Thirdly, fire your inner editor for the duration of reading this book.

Do those three things, and this may be an enjoyable book.

Review with spoilers - proceed at your own risk.

Throughout the book, the POV switches between Kedon and Tarrell, and it's sometimes difficult to immediatelly discern who's talking. Dialogue is mostly ridiculous and stiff, and the writing... seriously, I think the author may be trolling us. Rigid staff, hard staff, conquering staff... for the love of god, if you're writing what's supposedly a sexy scene, staff isn't the right word to use.

Also, the editing isn't up to snuff, and I kept marking the file in my Nook repeatedly for simple things that a good editor should have immediately caught.

The book is super OTT, and if you do those three things I mentioned at the beginning, you might have fun reading this. Don't take this seriously.

Seriously.

It doesn't seem real. But fu** if I care. As long as I had my fun.

Tarell get what he wants. And he wants Kedon. Sometimes he's like a big jerk. But I know he's doing it because of Kedon. So I gave him room to fu** up.

And they're just so cute and sweet together. :)

I really loved this book. I read this when I really needed an uplifting book. I KNOW this book is not for everyone. I do like this author's style of writing.

I will admit I think some of the realism of the book is off but it was just so fun to read and really if it isn't fun to read then why read fiction. I loved the characters they were very interesting and...well...cute. Poor Kedon was just so confused over Tarell's actions. I loved how very "alpha" Tarell was, not afraid at all to get what he wants.

This is a nice, sweet romance...well parts anyway;) I think for a pick-me-up it is the perfect read:)

I can't figure out if this story is meant to be taken "seriously" or if it's intended as a parody.

Either way, if you need even a tiny little toe dipped in the practical or real world - you probably won't make it through this.

"When the time finally came, when he finally was able to
make Kedon beg for him to enter him, plead for Tarell to make
him come, implore for satisfaction, then and only then would
Tarell divide those ass cheeks and conquer with his staff."

Hurri Cosmo is always my guilty pleasure but this is just utterly lame, unrealistic and messed up.

Kendon is crushing a bit on Tarell and unnerved a bit by Rand and this is the set up for this story that takes some unexpected twists. This romance story keeps surprising you. From being assigned as co-parents of a computer baby to being rescued at the last second before things get really bad Kendon and Tarrel learn a lot about each other and about themselves that starts them on the road to a solid relationship.

So totally unbelievable, but so fricking adorable. Kedon was a believable eighteen but Tarell was definitely the personality of a much older man. It so needed an epilogue, perhaps ten years down the road with a real Ayane. Beyond that it was a completely enjoyable read.

This felt alternate reality-ish...to say the very least.

The writing, especially in the sex scenes though, was it supposed to be serious?

An easy read.

There was nothing special about the story, but I still enjoyed my moment in nonsense land where nothing can be taken serious.

Some scenes rendered some sighs. Most were accompanied with an eye roll. Because, really??!!

I enjoyed this story, I thought it was very sexy, sweet and enjoyed the emotions. I just thought some of the thoughts of the characters and they way they acted didn't add up to them being 18 and seniors in highschool. I thought Kedon was sweet and I loved his attitude. And Tarrell is Also sweet but learned a lot about himself and being with Kedon. 3-3.5 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
