When family secrets threaten everything Gorjess Bulb believes about herself, she leaves behind the life she knows, searching for answers she never knew were missing. In a new city, she meets Solomon “Warborn” Leota, who is battle-tested, loyal, and ruled by a heart that loves just as hard as he fights. He knows what it means to survive after family secrets.
Drawn together at a time that would break most people, their connection becomes more than what they want; it is what they need. Will their connection, love, and loyalty be enough to sustain them through this hard time and beyond, or will they need more? Will they realize that they are all they need?

Whew... Mel! I was heartbroken for Travis after the first part of this read! 🥹💔
Gorjess being raised by the holy roller BB (Brenda) and (James) Mr. Bulb was the twist I wasn't expecting. Athena is your big sister? Okay! 👀🙄 Although Gorjess had to deal with stern words from Brenda, her father James loved on her enough for both of them. I did wonder why Mr. Bulb didn't take the opportunity to tell Gorjess the truth when he was so insistent on her moving to Charlotte! 🤷🏿♀️
Gorjess and Solomon meeting was the cutest thing. It was love at first sight for them both, and they were inseparable after that point. The Leota's brought her into the fold and protected her like their own. Athena and BB gave me a damn headache with all that drama they brought Gorjess' after they played in her face her whole life! 🤬 I was happy that Gorjess and Travis reunited, however, we didn't see as much interaction between the two on page as I had hoped, considering all that had happened. I enjoyed the read, nonetheless.
Mel never disappoints!!! Once I got to the part of 3month old Gorjess being “kidnapped” by her momma, I was locked in. I did not stop reading until I was “All Scootched In”.
Sol and Jess relationship flourished real quick, along side their friends Jessop and Elica. As Sol stated, they were destined to meet so that he could be her anchor when the ish hit the fan. As all the men, he did not play about is girl and he also did not waste time claiming her. So cute!!!
I was happy when Jess found out about her biological father and her siblings. Was happy when her biological father, Travis, put BB in her place. The father she grew up knowing put her in the place she needed to be to learn the truth and for Travis to be able to find her. Things worked out for this family, Jess formed a bounds with her siblings and got to know her dad, and grandma Irene. As usual those Leotas bring everyone together and it becomes one big happy ssa family.
I’m a dog lover, so that was an added plus in my eyes. Love this book!! Now on to the next Mel book.
My Besties’ Son has his own book and it was everything!!
When I say I missed the Leota’s, I truly mean that. They are one tight family that don’t play about each other!
Sol and Jess’ story was deep but they knew when they met that they were each other’s one! But her family was keeping secrets from her that they had to help Jess get through and heal from.
Mel never disappoints, so add this book to your TBR!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mel is gonna get you right EVERY time, okay! I laughed, got in my feelings, and fell in love with these characters bad. This one? Yeah… she did what needed to be done. 💕📚✨
Everything about this book was good. From the first page and chapter til the last page. All of the characters feel like family and their backstories are like wowww! The love, explosive secrets, the laugh til you cry moments, the love making, apologies, budding friendships and relationships make this another read all the way through and pass go and collect $200 books. Baby I love the Leotas and how hard they love and go for each other and those they care about. Sol the MMC meets the FMC Gorjess and is smitten by her and her beauty and is all gas and no breaks behind her. He goes the extra mile to make her his, anchor her, and be her peace. As things progress with them and things unravel in her world he shows her just how big his heart is, how he has her back, her best interest at heart, and that she’s truly all he needs…along with the rest of the crazy family (old and new)🆕 they have and the pups. 10/10 hands down
Mel’s books always come right on time for me when I need a laugh and this book had me cracking up at times. It was good to catch up with some of the Leota’s and I wouldn’t be mad at getting more from this family.
I loved Solomon and Gorjess together. Their vibe was easy and their relationship and chemistry felt organic. He didn’t play about her and she didn’t play about him. They were very much in love and couldn’t keep their hands off each other. I liked the side characters and I was pleased that Gorjess was able to find out her origin story. Her fake mama was trash and she did way too much and was just evil for no reason.
This was a good and quick read that was filled with a bit of heaviness, folks with unmitigated audacity, plenty of laughs and strong family connections.
You can NEVER go wrong with a Mel Dau book!!!… I’m ALWAYS left with a heart so full and full of emotions!!!…You are ALWAYS guaranteed the drama, but filled with laughter and moments that will leave you emotional!!!… My heart broke for Travis and Grandma Irene when Athena ran off with Baby Gorjess!!!…I knew Athena’s momma had her hands all up in that disappearance!!!… Ms. BB got her Karma for sure!!!… I was happy that Travis and Grandma Irene were able to lay eyes on Gorjess again though!!!…Her grandfather worked in the background to make sure she was right back where she needed to be in order for that to happen!!!… There is NOTHING like the families you are able build, versus the ones you are born into!!!…
I really enjoyed this as I did with all the Leotard Family sagas. I had quite a few good laughs.
I am so glad James got Jess away from BB. That thing should have been named, Satanetta! Evil personified. I did not expect Athena to do what she did, but I understand why she did it.
Jesse's journey led her to the love and family she had been missing. I love the way Sol loved on Jess and protected her. She fit right in with his family & friends. I am also glad that Travis and Irene were reunited with their girl.
This book was so fast paced so there was no connection and no love. Am I just supposed to believe that they love each other because they said so? No I want to read about it and feel it too. I want to kick my feet because the love connection is just so darn cute, but that was not the case with this book. The Premise of this book was so good and interesting, but it just fell so short. I would have loved to read the connection with her father grow because they were both cheated out of a relationship. Travis just seemed like he was going to be the best father and I didn’t even get to experience it.
My messy self wanted more drama especially after that beginning. Brenda was a hot mess and to try and be holy after being so vile was hilarious. I wanted someone to put hands on her, like seriously.
Gorjess and Solomon were cut but their connection was rushed to me. I love a good instalove but it has to flow and this one missed the mark for me. I enjoyed the premise of the book and the laughs were there, however, a few parts were missing plot wise... for me.
Gorgess deserved all the love that Sol gave and more. After losing her father, Gorgess followed his orders and moved to North Carolina. His intentions were for Travis to find her. Brenda was a real piece of work for what she had Athena do when Gorgess was a baby. The move and starting her business brought Gorgess a joy that she didn't know she was missing. Then she met her love. He knew that she would be his at first sight. From there, everything moved fast. Awesome read!
The very first time that Sol and Gorjess saw each other they had a mutual attraction for each other and Sol didn’t waste any time with asking her out. This was my first book reading about the Leota clan it didn’t pull me in to want to go read the previous books. I do like the fact that Sol and Gorjess were totally invested and they had a sweet insta love with fur babies and Solei. I didn’t like how Gorjess procrastinated meeting Travis and Irene nor the reason for Travis not searching high and low looking for Gorjess especially after he turned his life around to legal money.
This book had me feeling all the emotions, but mostly frustration! I’m still struggling with the lack of accountability for Irene and Athena. After everything they did to Travis and Gorjess, the "happy ending" for Athena felt completely unearned.
The only thing keeping me going was Gorjess and Solomon. Honestly, they are soulmate goals and the perfect match.
I hate that there was not more of a redemption or connection between her and her father. He, however, showed up when it mattered.
The plot was about Gorjess & Solomon and their insta connection. Did u see that cover??!! i would focus on that as well! There were plenty of sub-characters I would like to hear more from that I hope the author explores.
Great read. I was so upset when Gorjess was taken away from her dad and was elated when they finally reunited many years later. I couldn’t stand BB and her husband was weak for allowing her to get away with the things that she did, but karma really did catch up with her. Now Gorjess and Solomon were straight up freaks but they absolutely loved each other. The book was well written, flowed well and definitely kept my attention.
Wow...what a great story. It's Leota's Next-generation. The story is short and fast paced. I would suggest reading the earlier books in the Leota series. They will provide background and will clarify the relationships of secondary characters. A fun read with a great HEA.
I enjoyed every moment of this book. Gorjess, Solomon, and the fur babies were such a beautiful love story. One thing about the Leotas is when they accept you, they welcome everybody attached to you into the family. Everything worked out for Gorjess, and I loved that for her.
As always, Mel brings it home. Her books are always funny, filled with family and friends, and a good time.
Sol and Gorjess were perfect for each other. They clicked immediately. I'm also happy that she took her father/grandfather's advice and moved back to Charlotte. There she found the love of her and her family.
Man, I love all the Leotas!! Gorjess deserved to know who her family was. Solomon was all over her from jump. He knew he wanted her and went after her. I was so happy when she found her dad. Sothea was so wrong!! This was good book! Can't wait for more from the Leotas!!
Mel Dau never fails to give a good read filled with family love humor and some unhinged behaviors but my only complaint is this hook was to short I want more of Travis story , why was the grandfather complacent and why was BB the way she was also Athena’s getting forgiveness those therapy Congo’s would have been priceless
Loved it, I have read the other book about the Leota Family. But now I feel like I have to go back and read them again❤. This book touches on a dysfunctional family, with alot of hidden secrets. Secret do not stay hidden. Kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾. Sex scenes were 🔥🔥and🌶🌶.
It's hard to believe this was a short book! Mel got everything in there lol A boy meets girl story w/ some family drama sprinkled in and of course a happily ever after🥰
The story started out sad and evolved into a lovely tale about family, love and redemption. Georjess and Travis deserved the outcome they received. The Leotas were just what Georjess needed. Solomon fit every check box completely.
It’s always a great time with the Leotas!! I loved the ebbs and flow of this book. It was short and sweet with just the right amount of sex and suspense.
This series was excellent. I loved it. I can't wait to see and read who will be next in the series. The couple was beautiful. It is cute how each couple meet, overcome their issues, and grow together. I would recommend this series to all.
When I tell you I love this. At first I thought I was reading Athena's followup because I didn't realize her name was Athena. If wasn't until they met Radius that I raised what happened to the baby. I love it
Gorjess was a sweet girl. I loved her relationship with her grandpa and felt bad because I could imagine what Travis was missing. I was happy to see her meet her biological family!
Chileeee… I just love those Leotas! That Leota love is something special! This sweet story was another testament to that fact. The way Sol loved Gorjess was just beautiful!
This book is just one more reason to love the Leota family. The instant connection and how he loved her made it worth the read. It had so many things going to keep you I entertained for sure.
I’m not gonna lie at 23% I was stressed out!! But thank you thank you thank you for this book. Those Leota’s are the best family!!!! Now to go watch some Haka videos….
