Scars of the Badge is an outstanding and very well-written book that is both gripping and easy to read. Deputy Lee does an incredible job explaining his experiences in a way that anyone — even those with no law enforcement background — can truly understand. He breaks things down clearly and honestly, giving the public a rare look at what really happens behind the badge.

His courage is nothing short of amazing. Being shot with a crossbow and surviving to tell his story is unforgettable, but what makes this book even more impactful is that he is still serving in law enforcement today. You’re not just reading about the past — you’re getting insight from someone currently on patrol, protecting and serving his community.

This book does a powerful job showing the reality of the job, the mental and physical toll it takes, and the strength required to keep going. Highly recommend to anyone interested in true crime, law enforcement, or understanding the sacrifices officers make every day.

Scars of the Badge will open your eyes to a world most of us know very little about. Tom Lee gives one man's account of his career as a law enforcement officer. He takes you with him into life-shaping scenes of human brokenness and tragedy, personal successes and failures, and the redemption that picked him up from his lowest point and gave him a future beyond the trauma. Lee's narrative reveals a real person, an ordinary man, who like so many others in his profession faces extraordinary challenges and split-second-life-or-death decisions to serve and protect his community. He gives you a sense for the cumulative weight of the trauma that police officers carry and the source of strength he found to bear it.
