I have felt that these Anatole books have been good and I have enjoyed them all quite a bit. This is my least favorite so far. It was only a so so story and I didn’t think it was as original as the others. Also, this many books in, this is book 6, we need to see a time Anatole needs help or makes a mistake or something. He is too perfect. Maybe that is why it’s getting old.

It’s still cute enough though.

The nephew loved the baby poodles in this one. He also liked seeing the poodle prance on 2 legs. That tickled him. He thought this was a good Anatole story and he enjoyed seeing the fancy ladies on chairs when they thought there was a mouse. That cracked him up. He gave this 3 stars. The niece did not read this with us.

Anatole the mouse rescues his dear friend Juliette, a pregnant poodle who was kidnapped. Fantastic illustrations by Paul Galdone.

This was a very fun read, it was an adventure and also had some bilingual properties, as it is set in France. This picture book has little color, all black and white with some red and blue but the story is so good that the lack of color was basically unnoticed. I think this would be a great book to have in my future classroom!
