I had a bit of a tough time getting into the 2nd book in this series (probably my fault for skipping book 1. What can I say? I'm a rebel. I do what I want.), but this one worked from page 1.

We got (kinda) introduced to Vince in the previous book. Well, he got mentioned at least. His life has been terrible since he was abducted and imprisoned and, when we first meet him, there's no end in sight. Then the love of his life reappears and suddenly things are looking rosier.

Except they're not at first. Because years and years of degradation and torture aren't something you get over right away. Vince has a lot of healing to do before he feels worthy of Zara and their son. I got that. Totally. His need to stick it to his captors worked. His desire to prove himself worked. Zara's patience with him worked.

I have a serious soft spot for damaged heroes and Vince hit all my buttons. Poor guy. Someone get him a cookie. Or give him one of Zara's cupcakes. He deserves it.

kindly provided by the author with and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by laurie and despite it being the 3rd book in the series I found it very easy to follow. I can tell that there is lots of inclusion from the characters from books 1 & 2 and despite not reading those stories, I was able to keep the thread quite easily.

This story has PLENTY of HOT romance.....love me some paranormal lovin' !!!. The story surrounds Zara and Vince and their " I can never forget you " passion. Sounds good no ?.

Well, I really enjoyed this story. I found it gripping and it kept my complete interest from start to finish. Given that I am feeling a bit funky at the moment, this story was a blessing.

Defiantly worth a read if you enjoy "get you teeth stuck in" paranormal romance books.

Well done Laurie.

4 when I break out of this prison, you are soooo mine Stars !!!

many thanks for this opportunity. I will certainly read more of your gripping stories !

Later peeps xxx

Warrior's Heart is the 3rd book in Laurie London's Iron Portal Series. This book could be reead as a stand alone although their are some characters from the previous books.

This book centers around Vince and Zara. Vince had been going across the portal to see his girlfriend Zara. He was going to bring her across and the two were going to start a life together along with the baby she was carrying. However, the night before he was to meet her to bring her across for good Vince was taken by the Army and his father was killed. The army wanted to use Vince's talent but he refused to work for them and so he has been in prison for the past 10 years. During those 10 years, a doctor has tortured Vince to try to get the location of the portal but Vince knew that Zara and their baby wouldn't be safe if he gave the location up so he refused to tell them.

Zara doesn't know that Vince was taken by the army and thinks that he just changed his mind about her and the baby. She came across the portal anyway and has been leading a double life. By day she works in a museum and by night she is a thief who steals Cascadian artifacts to return them to her world.

Zara is approached by Asher and Olivia (Vince's sister) and told that he didn't just abandon them but was in prison for the past 10 years. Zara insists on rescuing Vince and gets Asher to help her. However, once Vince is free from prison he is confused and broken and thinks that Olivia would be better with someone else. Zara is patient and gives Vince time and space to adjust while still being there for him. Vince is a bit consumed with getting revenge on the scientist who tortured him and Zara is hurt that Vince isn't asking more questions about their son.

This was my favorite book in the series so far. I really loved both Vince and Zara and thought that the relationship was developed really well. Vince didn't immediately bounce back and needed time to adjust to life outside of prison and that was written exceptionally well. There was some action but this story was more about relationships and second chances.

I was given this book by the author in return for an unbiased review.

Vince Crawford has been in prison for the last 10 years. He has a “Talent” the Pacifican Army wants to capitalize on. They think he can detect portals to Cascadia or at least know where a portal is. Cascadia is different world for the one we know. Cascadia life is equivalent to our medieval time. No electricity no modern conveniences. The Pacifians bring precious artifacts back to sell on the black market.
Vince was taken by the army the night before he was going to bring his pregnant girlfriend, Zara, from Cascadia to Pacifica. They were going to marry and raise their child together. In those 10 years they torture, beat and starve Vince, but he never gives up the portals location. It’s the one thing he can do to protect Zara and their baby. Zara had no idea that the army took him and just thought he changed his mind about their plans. She hated him for those 10 years and when she finds out what really happened she’s horrified at what she thought of him. When her brother Asher comes to see her, his fiancé tells her that Vince is alive. She is Vince’s sister Olivia. Zara want to recuse him right away and not wait any longer.
After rescuing Vince, he pulls away from Zara. He feels dark and dirty and confused. He loves her but feels she and their baby would be better off without him. Zara doesn’t push him and lets him acclimate to his new surroundings. Later he wonders why he isn’t making love to Zara, and let me tell you those scenes were scorching hot! Ummm, Yummm!
The story follows Zara and Vince to Cascadia, where they decide to settle. It’s a different take on the paranormal love story and I enjoyed it immensely.
I found I had the first Portal book in my TBR pile on my kindle, so I am reading that now. Then I’ll read Asher’s and Olivia’s story.

I am loving the Iron Portal series and Warrior's Heart is no exception. Vince was taken away abruptly by the army ten years ago, and presumed dead by his family for a long time. Zara was the one left behind that no one knew about but with a present of her own. Both these people have to fight to survive and have their own demons to bear, Vincent's just being more physical. What the 'Doctor' did to him was sickening, and his reasoning for it, although it sort of made sense in a twisted sort of way, absolutely did not excuse what he was doing to the Talents. Zara honed her Talent and used it to 'rescue' items that had been stolen from Cascadia. When she learns that Vincent is alive and can be found, she uses her Talent to rescue him too.

This book was harder to read as Vincent tries to deal with his past and his PTSD, while I was full of admiration for Zara and how she handled things. I fall more in love with Cascadia every time we visit and I loved the family reunion and yes, I shed a tear or two.

This is once again incredibly well-written, packed full of emotion and a delight to read. I would recommend this book and this series without any hesitation at all. Love it.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

REVIEW for WARRIOR’S HEART
I received this as an ARC for an honest review

When Zara Kane is confronted in the basement of the library where she works….while on a covert mission….she is sure she has been discovered by her enemies..the Pacifican Army. But what she finds instead is her brother…Asher Kane a warrior from her home world of Cascadia….and his mate, Olivia. That is when she finds out Olivia is the sister of her long lost lover, Vince, whom she thought just left her when he found out she was pregnant ten years ago. She has simmered with rage and hatred all that time, only to find out now that he was captured and put in prison on the night he was to come to her… What happens next can only be described as extraordinary. Zara is a Cloaking Talent…one that has FATA BLOOD running through her veins. So does Vince it seems, which is why he has been in prison….he refuses to help the Pacifican Army. He can sense the portals that connect the two worlds and the Army wants him to show them where they are. In a daring rescue, Zara uses her power to save Vince. But after being drugged and tortured for ten years , is there any hope of him being the young man she fell in love with, and will he want to be a father to his son that he has never met ??? Time and circumstance will tell.

In this book the familial ties seems to wrap around our characters further as the connections deepen with brothers and sisters.

Vince Crawford is Olivia's brother and Zara is Asher sister, here we now find out the the brothers and sisters have been paired up with the fates.

We get to meet all the previous characters and we get more time in Cascade, we also get to meet the doctor who had Vince captured and see what lies behind the motivation as to why he hates those with talents.

Vince and Zara are both hot and cold towards each other until Zara finally confronts Vince and things change around a little. It seems it is hard for Vince to get used to being free from captivity and adjusting is hard on his I'm so many ways.

Again the book feels a little rushed, but i look forward to seeing how the last novella in the series brings the series to a close.

This is a great standalone story and book three in the series. Book One introduced the concept of two worlds post war, divided by hidden portals. Cascadia is a world without technology or motorized vehicles and it citizens have paranormal abilities the Pacificans covet. For years the Pacifican Army has created crime waves they attribute to the Cascadians, giving them the reason they need for sustaining funding and support to continue their troop numbers. They also seek out descendents of Cascadians living in Pacifica who have paranormal abilities and force them into the army. Those who refuse are incarcerated. The more promising of these Talents are sent to a research lab, The Institute. That is where Vince Crawford has been held for the past ten years, refusing to give up information about a portal he discovered that led him to Cascadia and Zara Kane, the girl he fell in love with.

Zara had just told Vince she was pregnant when he disappeared. Thinking he abandoned her, she is shocked to learn he has been imprisoned the whole time. Fiercely determined to free him, she convinces her brother to help and uses her cloaking Talent to get Vince away from his work detail and to a safe house. But neither of the lovers are the same people they were before Vince was taken. Their resulting story is one of bravery, love and patience in the face of Vince's PTSD and the force of the Pacifican Army intent on recapturing their most valuable prisoner.

Paranormal Romance

Zara Kane leads a double life. During the day she works at the library and is a respected antiquities expert. At night though she is a thief that steals the artifacts that belong to her homeland. Years ago she was abandoned by the man she once loved when she needed him the most though when she finds out he has been wrongly imprisoned, she uses her para-ability Talent to orchestrate a daring escape.

Vince Crawford has suffered years of suffering and torture and is now a damaged man. The beautiful boy with the sparking brown eyes he used to be is now gone and in his place is now a jaded ex-con that is hell-bent on revenge. He is not afraid of anything. Though when a ruthless enemy who knows his greatest weakness threatens the woman he never stopped loving and the son he never knew he had he will stop at nothing to keep them safe. Even if the cost is his life.

This is an amazing book that is part of a series. It holds up very well on its own as a standalone but it will have readers eagerly looking for the other books in the series to read more about a world that proves to be engrossing and different. It has a lot of action and takes some great twists and turns and keeps the reader hanging until the very end on if everything will work out for the characters. The story will also having readers wanting to read the next book in the series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Remember Vince from the last book? He's Olivia's brother who was taken away by the army when his talent was revealed. Also, in the last book, Asher identified his sister (Zara) in some of Vince's drawings, indicating that somehow these two knew each other.

Zara believes that the man of her dreams abandoned her and her unborn child and has let this shape her life. She has been using her power to become invisible to take back artifacts stolen from her world. When she suddenly finds out that Vince has been in prison all this time (and he didn't mean to abandon her), everything changes. She is determined to help rescue him and introduce him to their son.

Vince is certainly not the bright eyed boy Zara fell in love with. They have both grown and changed along the way, but he suffered years of torture and interrogation. He didn't break and use his portal finding power, but he certainly has the scars of his time in prison. Zara and Vince have their work cut out for them in this story.

This book is definitely darker than the ones previous. Zara and Vince have a great love story, but it is clouded by years of pain. Watching them work through it all was tough, but the end result was worth it. These two gave us a look at the gritty and dangerous work that the army has created.

Ten years ago, Vince Crawford had everything planned. He was bringing his pregnant Cascadian girlfriend, Zara Kane, home to meet his family and live with them in Pacifica. But he was taken prisoner by the Pacifican army and has been tortured all those years to get the location of a secret portal into Cascadia.

Meanwhile, Zara's built a life in Pacifica. She lives quietly with her son, works as a librarian and uses her talent during her off hours to retrieve stolen Cascadian artifacts and return them to her people via a Cascadian underground network. Unknown to Zara, the network has something to return to Zara.

Zara's long lost brother, Asher, finds and visits Zara with his fiancée, Olivia in tow. As the siblings begin to catch up after more than 10 years apart, Zara's shocked to learn Olivia's twin is her Vince. Zara's more shocked to find out Vince didn't get scared, lie and abandon her after finding out he'd be a father at 17.

This outing was more of a romance than its predecessors and as the others in the series able to be a stand-alone but definitely not recommended. The smexy scenes and chemistry between the leads was worth the price of admission and the Iron Guild get to flex their strength when Pacifican's think they have their own private horde of Cascadians to use and abuse.

Be still me darling in this one the romance and adventure really heats up. As I was transported once again into this world Zara is doing what she does best and retrieving. There is nothing slow in a beginning in this one. She has to sides she shows and also one very special someone close to her heart she is raising. She thinks she is doing it alone and the other one who held her heart left along time ago. Just like in most cases there is two sides to every story when it comes to people. Vince is been imprisoned and endured a tremendous amount just for not talking. He too has a special talent which is why he is where he is. when others reveal to Zara some mind blowing news she goes heart first in doing what she does best but that will put her on a path that will forever change her life for better I say. this author will give you the best once again she has on these tow and their relationship's path once they find each other again. A second chance per say one that will be filled with tremendous challenges that thanks to love will give them the strength to take them on kicking. Not a disappointment but one that make my heart race and also delight in. A talent that can take paranormal couple it with romance to where you are so immersed you will have forgotten this just another piece and by the end it really isn't just more fuller with this one.

Protecting My Family!!!

Zara Kane and Vince Crawford two talents had one from Cascadia and the other from Pacifica....They fell in love and was thinking about a future but that say future never came because Vince was taking by the army.

Ten years laters, Vince still held captive but the army while Zara did everything to take care of their son, Darius....Zara was reunited with her long lost brother Asher Kane, a Warrior of the Iron Guild.

Zara met Asher's fiancée, Olivia Crawford who turned out to be the man who held her heart's sister. They brought Zara up to date regarding Vince's ordeal. She didn't care what she had to do, all she knew was that she had to save Vince no matter what.

Vince had a hard time adjusting to being outside the prison's walls, it was hard for Zara as well but she never gave up on him. When danger was surrounding their family, together with Asher and Olivia, Zara and Vince made sure that no harm came to their son.

An excellent novel, loved Vince's transition from being scared to not being good enough for Zara and Darius to find risking everything for them..... WARRIOR'S HEART had me rooting for the hero and the heroine from their first encounter.

Laurie London did a great job....This is a good book about second chances. 5 ++++ .

Ms. London's Iron Portal Book 3 , as War continues between the Cascadian's and the Pacific Army we learn about Zara Kane, Asher
( from Iron Portal Book 2 ) is Zara's brother. Her abilities that she hid from everyone was cloaking. When Zara was a young girl she fell in love with a boy by the Portal and became pregnant, they were going to run away together but he never showed up so here she was ten years later raising her son, Darius all by herself.
Asher thought Zara was dead, than she was alive so he went looking for her with his fiancee, Olivia.
Vince Crawford has been tortured, drugged and chained for Ten years. Because of his ability to find Portals. Dr. Dobrynnin works for The Pacific Army and he will do anything, kill anyone he has too, to find the Portal. Vince wouldn't give the doctor the time of day let alone the Portal, if he did they would find his first and only LOVE. So it was a no brainer no one would no where the Portal was and one day he would die in this hell whole just like his father did.

Another win for the Iron Portal Series! This book was fantastic. Vincent and Zara coming together was epic. But what I loved most I think about this book was the fact that Zara was a strong woman who in essence defied insurmountable odds. Delving into a place unknown and learning to survive all the while her heart searches for the one man who can complete her.

Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down. It was beautifully written; details and descriptions of the scenery, the people were wonderfully created allowing for me the reader to actually see the world in which the Author Goddess herself has created! I love this series. Not one book that I've read has been a let down in any manner. Truly a must read for anyone who loves Romance, with that perfect touch science fiction to really make it stand out.

First love books are the most epic in my mind, because it shows the longing; the need and the commitment as two hearts fight and ache to be together once more. Can't say enough in regards to this book. As of now it's my favorite in the Iron Portal Series. Then again, I've said that for every book that has been released in this series. LOL Keep writing Miss Author Goddess, and I'll keep reading!

The third installment of the Iron Portal series is about Vince and Zara. Vince is the long lost brother of Olivia from the 2nd book and Zara the sister of Olivia's fiancee and Iron Guild Warrior Asher. Thought to be dead for years by his family and thought to have just disappeared and not returned for Zara as he said he would no one has known he's been imprisoned by the army for 10 years. Never forgetting Zara and never revealing his secrets while in captivity. After 10 years Zara learns of his capture, confused and hurt because she had thought he'd left her and anguished that she believed he had she sets about with the help of her brother and soon to be sister in law to rescue him and save him. But the rescue attempt and eventual escape are not with out it's complications. Even after the escape nothing comes easy to the two. Plenty of action and intrigue and unexpected twists to keep you entertained. Loved the read and can't wait to read the 4th installment which is already in my kindle! It's heart wrenching and heartwarming all at the same time!

Warrior's Heart (Iron Portal #3) by Laurie London is a great read on its own but I liked how at the end of book #2, Rogue's Passion that a hint was given concerning Vince. Before that he was pretty much thought to be dead so that was a great incentive to read this one. I was not disappointed, instead I was captivated by Vince and Zara as they worked through his recovery and the reckoning with the one who had used him and tortured him. Vince, Zara and Darius became important so it was critical that I not stop reading until I knew all three were safe. In all honesty, I was sucked into their story just as if I had gone through a portal too.

This is my favorite of the series. I might have said that before. However, each book continues be even better than the last. Laurie London has a compelling series happening that I am completely loving. Sha has a way of writing so that I forget everything but what is happening in the story. This is paranormal romance at its best.

Laurie London's Iron Portal Series #3 is Warrior's Heart. Yes third time is a charm; my favorite in the series. Zara Kane and her son Darias have lived a life together for ten years. She was abandoned by her teen love Vince Crawford just when she needed him the most. Bitter that he would do this; her heart changes when she find out the circumstances of his disappearance.
Vince had been kidnapped from his home ten years prior because he was a "Talent". The army hoards those with these gifts to use against the world of Cascadia. Vince knowing that Zara is in Cascadia refuses to cooperate and is thus been a prisoner all this time.
Well Zara has a "Talent" of her own and with the help of couples from the previous Iron Portal series she sets to free Vince. Great story - no cliffhangers - Could be read as a stand alone but I would not do that.

I was really excited for this book because the last book left you with questions about Vincent, Olivia's brother, and his talent. I was happy to learn more about him and his situation and I liked both him and the heroine Zara. This book had a lot more suspense than the last two and I felt like I was on the edge of my seat a couple times. However, I feel like this book had less romance than the others. I wish we could have seen Vincent and Zara when the first met because I just felt disconnected from their relationship and had a hard time getting into that aspect of the story. I did enjoy seeing the past couples and how they are doing as well as the new "talents" that are showing up in each book. Overall I liked the book a lot and am waiting impatiently for the next one.

This is book #3 in the Iron Portal Series and features Zara from the Cascadian side and Vince from the Pacifican side. They met when they were younger and he was able to cross through the portal to her side. They made plans to bring Zara to the Pacifican side but before they could do that, Vince was captured by the Pacifican government because they found out he was a talent. His family thought he was dead and Zara thought he had abandoned her. He was held for 10 years until Zara found out that he was alive and helped to break him out. You follow their journey to the Cascadian side. I loved this story and the characters. The author does a great job of showing the differences of the 2 worlds. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.

Heartbreaking yet a story of strength and what love can do to a broken person who needs fixing. Vince has been in the prison of the Pacifican Army because he wont conform to their rules and use his special talents to find the secret portal to Cascadia, a med evil world full of magic. Zara is there, his love from years ago who was waiting for him the day he was captured. She was pregnant with his child and thought he was coming for her, but he never did. Now begins the story of Zara's quest to find him once she found out he still might be alive, but what has he endured, and will he be able to cope now? Come along for a fast paced great read!!! This is the first book in the Iron Portal series that I have read – but I have read other books by this author. I really enjoyed the world building for this series. I am going to have to go back and buy the previous books!

Two very different worlds are accessible via hidden portals and the societies in each world have bad opinions of the alternate world. In this book, two teenagers discover each other via the portal and fall in love. The hero is imprisoned because of his “talent” – leaving his pregnant girlfriend to wonder why he deserted her and their son. Fast forward 10 years – Zara discovers that Vince has been imprisoned and sets out to free him. On the run for their lives, they rediscover their love for each other and overcome the hurdles in their path.

Although this is the third 'Iron Portal' book, it was my first dip into the series. I got the gist of it fairly quickly and the characters were all explained in good detail so it was very easy to get into the book and enjoy it. The words on the page flowed so well that before I knew it I was half way through. There is plenty of action and steamy romance to keep you entertained for hours.
Vince and Zara made a good couple and it was satisfying to see their little family reunited after they were so cruelly ripped apart in their youth.
I enjoyed this book immensely. hope there are subsequent titles in the pipeline and in the meantime I will look forward to reading the earlier books in the series to find out more about the supporting characters featured in Warrior's Heart.

Warrior’s Heart is a great story with interesting characters that you can’t help falling in love with. Vince is a strong alpha man who has lived a rough life in prison due to being captured at a young age because of his talent. He has to struggle with this guilt of not being good enough for Zara and their son after she helps rescue him and they are on the run from the Pacifican army. I look forward to more in this series to hopefully a victorious outcome later on down the series against the Pacifican’s. I also look forward to more Iron Guild stories! If you haven’t read any of the series I’d suggest starting with Assassin’s Touch as it helps build the two worlds involved and explains the conflict, you will not be disappointed! This is the first book I've read from this series but I had no trouble getting into it. And judging from how much I enjoyed it, it is definitely going to be one I will follow. Zara had a hard life and Vince's visits through a portal near her was the one thing that made it bearable. Then Vince suddenly stops visiting, leaving her lonely, confused and pregnant. Many years later when she runs into her estranged brother, the truth of his disappearance is revealed. She uses her talents to help him escape, but now he's having trouble adjusting to a life of freedom. Both Zara and Vince must overcome many hardships and enemies, rediscover themselves and their love, if they are to survive and make a life together

EACH BOOK IN THE SERIES IS ANOTHER CHARMING ROMANCE....

This is an endearing series with good versus evil as the secondary plot to the romance of the individual book. Each book introduces another couple that has to get through tribulation to find their abiding soulmate.

The characters are well thought out. The story connects to the main good versus evil with each good guy overcoming whatever problem they must to get the girl. It isn't just the hero . The heroine must be brave as well.

There is action, adventure, mystery, romance and fantasy all rolled up in one story. Don't miss out on these quick and easy to read stories, you won't be sorry you decided to start with book one and read the series in order. KUDOS Ms. London on tales well tolg.

I was given this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love all of Laurie London's book, and this book was no exception. I really loved this story about Vince and Zara. After reading the first 2 books i was really excited to read about Vince and Zara and learn their story, and although you do get some back ground i wish it would have delved deeper into how they fell in love. I feel like all the characters are explained in detail very well. I did feel like it was a bit short and would have loved some more. I do feel like their wasnt as much romance in this book compared to the others but the romance it did have was very steamy. I would definately reccomend this book. Good read.

I liked this book and it is definitely worth getting for a continuation of the story and world. But... It was not my favorite of the series. I really wanted to like it more. However I found my self putting it down to do other things. Which tells you a lot right there. I just could not get interested or invested in the characters as much in this book. I think if I could have seen more of them falling in love at the beginning maybe that would have helped. I don't know. I did like it. Just not as much as the others. I am still looking forward to the next one and hopefully it will not disappoint me.
