Entertaining

Rating 4 stars

Humorous, bittersweet and engaging, these stories deliver secrets and the histories that make all the men connected to the D'Artigo sisters so fascinating. I admit that I enjoyed volume two a bit more. Vanzir's story was a pleasant surprise and I was reminded why I like Smoky so much.

This is my favourite Otherworld short story collection.

There's just so much vitality and emotion running through all four stories here. I don't even think I took a breath while reading Vanzir's story; the tension was just so thick, and constant. It's probably the most erotic of the stories, but, like she so often does, Ms. Galenorn writes her characters' sexytimes into the fabric of the story. The things we learn in this story couldn't happen without the erotic element. This one was an emotional read for me; I was near tears the first time I read it.

Smoky's story had a similar affect on me. There's no erotic element in this one, but still a lot of emotion, and a lot of emotion that surprised me. Fans of the Otherworld multiverse will appreciate this story; we get to learn a little more about Smoky's past, and see, up close and personal, what makes him tick.

I appreciate Morio's story because it shows us a side to him that we don't get to see much in the novels. Morio is generally steady and dependable...not so much here.

Bruce's story was my least favourite, mainly because the other stories were serious. I think Ms. Galenorn's writing is at its best when she's writing intense (not necessarily serious) things and injects bits of humour into them.

This collection will be most appealing to folks who are already fans of Otherworld and want to learn more about these characters, but there's probably enough to interest a casual reader who just wants to a quick read of some short stories but has never encountered Otherworld before.

All the men have such awesome experts before the Sisters. It's wonderful to get to know them more.

Short stories from Yasmine Galenorn's Otherworld series that are either background tales or simply don't fit in well within the novels themselves.

Fae-ted to Love ~ In Panther Prowling, Delilah stumbles upon a secret tryst between Vanzir and Aveal, one of the Fae Queens. In this story, Vanzir has been called out to her realm and we see more of their relationship with a bit of how it happened and an even bigger look into where it may be going.

Smoke and Mirrors ~ We get a glimpse at Smokey when he was young and see his first experience with a human woman.

Luck Be a Leprechaun ~ Bruce is sent to a meet of the Leprechaun high families out in the middle of nowhere. It's really our first good glimpse at Bruce outside of just being Iris's husband as we see him get lost in the woods and then get captured by hillbillies.

Family Ties ~ Morio has been lying to Camille since they met about his family's acceptance of their marriage. Like Trillian, his family has strict ideas of honor and what constitutes an acceptable match and Camille definitely does not fit into their plans for their family. Morio's cousin has come to their house to set things straight and the lies are all coming out now...

It was nice a collection of stories and I hope we get more of them, especially some stuff about Bruce and his background. I'm curious about leprechauns of her mythology but so far very little has been said. I have a feeling we will see more about Vanzir and Aveal in future books and that should be interesting.

the men!

I choose my rating because I love learning more about the men of Otherworld. Yasmine makes her characters so real that you wish they were your friends but most of all family.

I would recommend this book of shorts to all that read this series as well as those who would like to get to know the men in this series.

Incredible

This collection is truly incredible, as are all of Yasmine Galenorn's books. If you are not up to date on the Otherworld series, there are some major spoilers, but still a worthy read.
