A solid, clean, contemporary romance!
I’m a total sucker for the “long lost love” trope, and this book certainly qualifies! Austin and Katia had history, and I enjoyed reading how well they knew each other and how events of their youth endeared them to each other as adults, even if they didn’t realize it.
Austin had grown into almost a hermit, a recluse, the grouchy workaholic rich guy who rarely socialized with the town. Until Katia came back to town. I liked reading his transformation!
Katia did a lot of floundering between Austin and her job; after all, Austin was a client and she couldn’t mix business and pleasure. This was frustrating at times, and she made herself crazy over it. Fortunately, she finally had that “aha” moment and did something very out of character. No spoilers!
A truly terrifying event at the end really put things into perspective for those two, and they certainly did get their happy ending.
I really liked this story and would be interested in reading more books by Catherine!

Katia works for an insurance agency in Chicago and she's working hard to become a partner. However, the company is getting ready to fold and she needs to think of something fast in order to save it, and her job. She learns that her high school crush, Austin McCreary, is back in Indian Lake, a town that's not too far away, and is planning to build a museum. Insuring that will save their company and elevate her status as a future partner. She's able to convince Jack to relocate. Now she just needs to convince Austin to become her client, but the problem she faces is that she broke Austin's heart and she's not sure how he will react to seeing her again.
Katia is sweet and as we learn more of her story, it's understandable why she left all those years ago. Austin is still hurting and needs to decide if he can forgive her. Either way, they both need to heal their relationship and move on, whether it's together or apart. They each have their flaws and there are definitely issues for them to work through.

While I'm sure I would have enjoyed reading about some of the couples from the previous books, I didn't feel like I was missing anything so this is great as a stand alone read. After having read it, though, I want to go back and read the other books in this series!

I will admit that I haven't read the previous books in this series. Katia's Promise is the fourth book in this Shores of Indian Lake series but each book can stand alone and is not dependent on the others. Although, the couples from the previous books were in this book and I could tell that they would have meant more to me if I had read the books in order.
Katia and Austin have a past. Things didn't end well between them. Well, actually, they didn't even end. Things just dropped off abruptly and there was no closure which left many unanswered questions. That left two people with a lot of baggage to work through when they connected again.
I always enjoy the Harlequin Heartwarming line because I know I am going to get a sweet, clean romance. This was a gentle romance to settle in with. Austin and Katia go around and around and around before finally figuring things out in the very end. Austin and Katia need each other and they are good for each other. Knowing that the whole book while they tried to battle their demons was a bit like torture! haha. I found myself becoming a bit impatient with them, but all's well that ends well. :)
This is a clean romance with no content to disclose. (yay!!) I will be keeping this author and the rest of the books in this series in my sights for future reading!

Catherine never fails to deliver stories that are poignant and thoroughly satisfying. Her characters are always relatable, charming and engaging. Katia’s Promise will draw you in and leave you smiling. As soon as I finished the book, I was already missing Katia, Austin, Mrs. Beabots and the other residents of Indian Lake . . . a sure sign of an excellent book!

Catherine does it again! Her descriptions and emotion make it impossible not to fall in love with her characters and setting. Her writing always sweeps me away.

I won this book in a Goodread's Giveaway and this is the first book I have read by Catherine Lanigan. Enjoyable read about two teens (Katia & Austin) who grew up together and fell in love but things did not work out. Years later Katia comes back into Austin's life. Austin has become a bit of a recluse due to the broken heart he had from their first relationship. As they work together both Austin and Katia realize they have never stopped loving each other. They have to overcome the past so they can have a future together. If you like romances this is a nice read.

(3.5 Stars) The Heartwarming line is just that--it's comforting and warms my heart and this story is no exception. Katia is a career woman, but when her company is about to go out of business, she grasps at straws and convinces her boss to move the business to her small hometown in Indiana.
What I found surprising is that although she's been back there several times, she never thinks about her childhood/teenage crush, Austin, until he's mentioned and then she remembers him. I would think that if he was that dear to her heart, she'd be thinking of him often. However, Austin seems very bitter and reclusive since she left without a word and he has a hard time accepting that she's back and that she had valid reasons for leaving.
The side characters were great in this story! They each have such unique personalities and are the glue that bind this town together, as well as the force that helps Katia and Austin resolve past issues. These many characters are very endearing and are what makes up a small town, since they really look out for one another and have a finger in each others business.
When a startling discover about the past is made, Austin has a hard time dealing with it, but Katia wants to be there for him...if he'll let her. This is an emotionally tender story with powerful characters in an interesting setting and it stands alone, even though it is the fourth book in the series.

I adored this book! It is just so cute and so sweet! I love love love the Harlequin Heartwarming books! You can pick one up and know that you aren’t going to find any bad language or sex in them. They are just “heartwarming.”
Katia’s Promise certainly did not disappoint in the “heartwarming” category. I read this book very quickly. It is one that you’ll not want to put down, so be sure you’ve got time to read when you start! I absolutely love the town in which this book is set. I want to live there! The characters in the story are perfect. I love that they are flawed because it makes them so real. Katia is so super organized…I totally cannot relate lol. But I love her willingness to fight for what she wants. I could relate more to Austin because I can be somewhat of an “avoid the people” type of person at times. I love the romance and how it is rekindled after many years.

What a sweet and clean romance this was. Katia Stanislaus is now well established as an insurance agent. She was previously the housekeepers daughter. Austin McCreary's parents were the employer to Katia's mother. Being young and in love Katia and Austin McCreary were torn apart by her mother.
Now years later Katia is in need of a large customer to help save the insurance company she is employed by. Fearing that even though she knows Austin and they were once in love she is not sure how he feels now.
When she sees him for the first time after all these years he wants absolutely nothing to do with her and orders her away. Now you must read the book to find out where it goes from here,
This is a story of second chances and also knowing yourself and what is important to you. Often what you want is not necessarily what you need. Wonderful story with a HEA!

A nice story about Katia and Austin. Like the larger print. Katia seems to be confused about what should be important in her life. Trusting others is hard.
