Halfway through and nothing's happened!!! Love at first sight between two characters, and oh, yeah, the Institute can indeed travel through time (which Smith has been telling us since practically page 1).
Now, I can enjoy a romance storyline just fine, provided there's an actual STORY happening around it. But halfway through the book, and all we've done is jump to the past for ten minutes, then the future for a week?
I don't rate the books I quit because they turn out not to be to my taste, because that'd be unfair to the author. But this one's getting one-starred because NOTHING'S HAPPENING!

Loved this one. Bella and Zane had a pretty exciting story. This is the first one that involved saving the world and what a way to do it. Lots of adventure.
The timeline goes from present to future to past to present.
Old favorites, as well as new, make appearances.
The best part along with their adventure was learning the massivity of the cavern.

The storylines these books keep telling are interesting. Every time I think I have a handle on where the story arc is going, there's a new twist, and entirely new possibilities open up. (just like the world for the characters). If you're an alternate history fan, these books are fun to read, if you're a scifi fan, they're equally as fun. If you're a fantasy lover, you might not get much out of the fantasy side of things, but you'll probably still enjoy reading the stories. Fun stuff, and more to read of course, so off I go to read the next one.
