I’m a city-girl, right down to the bone. So when my mom up and tells me that she’s fallen in love with a farmer named Chad and we're moving to Texas, I nearly blew a gasket.
When I first got to the glorified barn that Chad called a house, I was immediately informed that his nephew Derek was also living with us and that I'd be sharing a bathroom with him. One morning, before I even had a chance to fully wake up, I stormed into the shared bathroom right as Derek was getting out of the shower.
Which quickly became the most awkward introduction ever.
Later that morning when the hot cowboy offered to show me around the property, I got a good taste of exactly what the expression ‘Everything’s bigger in Texas’really meant.
Cowboy Alpha is a steamy, standalone short story with no cliffhanger and a happy ending.
This super short story offers up a quick escape, and I liked it, but there were some things that could be improved upon. Dana came off as a spoiled brat and it was hard to see where the attraction Derek had for her came from. Their attraction is based on lust and then skips ahead several weeks, so we do not get to see how their relationship develops into anything more.
I did like the alpha-ness Derek displayed and the story had some hot scenes, but in their first encounter, Derek rips her shirt down the middle. Then, when they have to get dressed and return home, nothing is mentioned about the shirt, so apparently Dana rides a tractor shirtless across the wide open ranch--this made me laugh as I pictured it and really took me out of the story.
Overall, Cowboy Alpha provides a half-hour escape into Alpha world, and I'm intrigued enough to check out other work by Ms. Abbing. Hopefully the little details overlooked in this story will be improved upon in other works, because I really like her form of alpha male.
Quick read. Leaves a little bit to be embellished on. Dana appears as a very spoiled young lady with a serious attitude, how Derek puts up with it is beyond me. Lust comes first with a quick jump forward that leaves a lot out of the story, like how their relationship progresses to them ending up together. But, all in all it was a fun read and I would definitely recommend her to others. I hope Ms. Abbing continues to write stories like this,as they are a great way to pass a half hour.
Short and steamy but ok. I would recommend this book to others. Arabella Abbing writes unique, entertaining stories. As long as she keeps writing them I'll keep reading them.
