** Read as part of the Dark and Damaged: Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance **

~ 4 Rebel’s Desire Stars ~

Rebel’s Desire is book four in the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. We are given a compelling world, plot, and characters.

I was pulled back into this fabulous and intriguing world. The concept is great with two worlds divided by hidden portals, one modern and one medieval. The Cascadians (medieval) have something the Pacificans (modern) want - Talents people with special abilities. These two separate worlds are waring with each other. The author does a deceit job explaining all of this, but I think the series is best read in order to get the full scope of what is going on.

Toryn, is part of the Cascadian Iron Guild and has some major trust issues after his love betrayed him. Falling for him is bound to have a few bumps along the way. Keely, is a Talent who grew up in the Pacificans world. She does not know the extent of her powers, but because of them her and her sister where cast out of their home as teenagers. She’s got daddy issues and her sister is missing.

These two end up working together and as they spend more time together they both learn to open up and heal. The romance is sweet and quick with some very hot and steamy moments. The author also features some familiar faces and that is always enjoyable.

Rebel’s Desire was a good read and I am looking forward to more installments in the Iron Portal series.

Review: This is not the first book in this series I've read. I previously purchased the anthology Dark And Dangerous in it was Laurie London - Assassin's Touch (Iron Portal #1). In my review of said story I mentioned I wasn't overly interested in the Iron Portal series. This book solidafies my lack of interest. I had a difficult time finishing the short. In all honesty I skimed a ton of pages & am going to list it as a DNF. I just can't truthfuly say I read a mojority of the story.

Good story, nice idea behind it, not much world building (probably as it's an ongoing series). Unfortunately the main characters killed the story for me. I'm giving it 3 star, but I feel it's generous.

Oh, Toryn. Things aren't all roses and puppies for the warrior who's been betrayed by a woman he's loved before. Which means falling for Keely has more than a few speed bumps as Toryn has to come to terms with trusting his heart and instincts when it comes to someone who could hurt him.

Meanwhile, Keely's in a tough spot. Between her daddy issues (the guy is no saint!) and her sister's forced involvement with a very bad man, she's in a fragile emotional place. Toryn pushes all her buttons, but he also has the potential to hurt her badly.

Naturally, the two are smokin' together. Because a rocky relationship without hot sex is hardly worth pursuing. At least in my book.

I enjoyed getting to see some familiar faces and the seedier side of New Seattle. Sean's story gave me a sad face. I'd love to see him get to a happy place at some point.

Happily ever afters for everyone, I say! A girl can wish, can't she?

This is the first book I've read in the series and I wasn't overly impressed. I think maybe if I read the other books I would've gotten a better view of the story world. I would like to know more about the different talents and what happened rather than just a quick review that the book offered. That being said I still enjoyed the story although it was predictable. My curious is peeked enough to want to read the previous books though.

This is by far the worst book of the series and the whole book just felt rushed and not completely put together properly.

The story in itself was quite good and i liked how much that Toryn and Keely have in common, but there was so much left un answered and when the book finished along with the series, it definitely left too many gaps in the story and the question of the bad guy in this book was not cleared up at all.

Totally felt duped with this book and wish that it had been put together better to give a better rounded story. I have now been put off reading anything further by this author.

I liked this a lot better than I thought I would. Good story line, I liked the characters, and it kept my interest to see how it all ended. New author for me, WTG Laurie.

This is the story of Toryn and Keely.

Keely and her sister Becca are both talents. When Becca is abducted by a seedy character for his sex slave business Keely goes looking for her, and runs into Toryn. I love the Iron Portal series and how the two characters work together to save the day. I also love how it can read as a stand alone but incorporates characters from the other books.

I'm hoping there is more to come.

"Gifted in exchange for an honest review"

This book is also bundled in a box set "Dark and Damaged" which is available on Amazon.com

I love the Iron Portal book series as a whole. Each book written compliments the next book in the series. Toryn and Keely is the featured couple of Rebel's Desire.

The way Keely's life was before she runs literally into Toryn, had me gritting my teeth. Literally she and her sister was tossed to wolves because of their talents. As more is told about their father, the more I'm hoping that someone puts a hurting on him. LOL Both girls deserve to know love and safety; though Keely's sister is a bit scatter brained and I found myself not liking her very much at all. I think it's because I can see the love that Keely clearly has for her, and the love that is given in return is not as endearing back towards Keely. However, that is just my opinion.

When Toryn is there; offering a first lip on lip contact in order to "help/save" her. I knew that there was going to be something big in store for our hero and his strong fierce woman. I went through moments where I wanted to shake my own head, then growling and gritting my teeth the next. As a reader, I love a story that has me on edge and even muttering "Oh no they didn't." If I can talk back to a book like it's a television show happening in front of me then I know I've got something good in my hands.

I was expecting a bit more blood and action. Only because I was feeling a little blood thirsty as I read each scene.

What got me though was this hard core warrior who too has suffered; finds his peace in the one woman who was just as much of a fighter as he is. Though I will admit to wanting to kick his ass in several places for simply being a hard headed man. As the author goddess continues to write the Iron Portal series, I can see the fire and determination from this couple coming through at some point in the future books. Which will only have me on the edge of my seat wanting more.

Every book features couples that have already been put together, this too goes a long way with me. I want to continue to read how each couple is progressing; what's new in their lives, and how they all come together to fight the Pacifican Army and end the evil that they perpetrate on both Pacifica and Cascadia.

There is nothing better than getting lost in a book and feeling as if you're actually there within the author's vision of the worlds that she has created. The Iron Portal series as a whole does this for me perfectly.

Review for REBEL’S DESIRE: IRON PORTAL BOOK
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Toryn Flynn is trying to get some intel on Davin Reaux….one of their biggest problems on the Pacifican side of the portal…when a young woman jumps into his arms and kisses him. When she begs him to just play along, he does, and is kissed like his world is ending tomorrow. When the apparent danger that was stalking her is gone, Toryn decides he wants some answers…sooner rather than later. He finds out her name is Keely and just when it seems he will get his answers, she is gone. When he does find Kelly again, she finally breaks down and tells him about her sister and her involvement with Davin Reaux. As Toryn realizes they have a common enemy, his first thought is to use Keely as his way in to Reaux, but that quickly changes when their involvement leaves them both breathless and not quite trusting each other. As his feelings toward Keely become deeper, Toryn knows he will never use her to achieve his goal. All his protective instincts toward Keely kick in and he will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe. When it becomes apparent Keely needs a safe place to stay, Toryn takes her to one of the Iron Havens on the Pacifica side of the portal. There, she is questioned and asked to help on their latest mission, on the condition they will help rescue her sister. When some aspects of the rescue mission go wrong and Toryn is badly injured, Keely makes a decision that has consequences she could never have foreseen. When Toryn wakes and finds out Keely did not return with the others, his distrust takes over. When she does return, he hurls accusation at her…without having all the facts, and Keely leaves. When Toryn finally hears the reason for Keely’s delay in coming back, he knows he has to find her and try to win her back. But are his actions too late in coming??

Paranormal Romance

Toryn Flynn is a Iron Guild warrior that has been shattered by a betrayal and tormented by his past. He also doesn’t trust anyone and the only thing he cares about is battling their enemies. His latest target is a mobster that finances deadly missions into Cascadia.

Keely Weber and her sister were kicked out of their family home by their puritanical father. They now run a bookstore and fortune-telling business in the underground district of New Seattle. At least they did until a powerful man in control of the area kidnapped Keely’s sister to sell her into the Talent sex-trade.

Toryn has a beautiful woman literally fall into his arms and she holds the key to his success. Keely will take any risk even with a dangerously sexy man that pushes her buttons or anything else that is necessary to rescue her sister.

As Toryn and Keely go from the city’s gritty street underbelly to an island with a sexual-fantasy-theme their passions ignite. Being surrounded by evil and time running out Toryn is going to have to decide if he will sacrifice the woman he is falling for or if he can dare to trust his heart again.

This is proving to be an amazing series that gets better with each book. The action is intense and fills the book but it still focuses on the relationship between Toryn and Keely and makes for a book that moves at a remarkable pace. While the books are connected they still tell a different story with each one which keeps the series from getting stale and will have readers wanting more from the series. It is different from most paranormal stories which makes it in a class all its own. The writing is very good and pulls readers in until the very last page.

This standalone is book four in the exciting Iron Portal Series, which gets better with each release. I was hooked with book one, captivated by the concept of two worlds divided by hidden portals, one modern and the other medieval. A post war New Seattle and its Pacifan Army continue to infiltrate Cascadia, however. Because Cascadians have something the Pacificans want- they are Talents- people with special abilities. And their artifacts are priceless.

Toryn, a Cascadian Iron Guild Warrior, is in New Seattle with other Warriors to eliminate Davin Reaux, a crime boss who has been raiding Cascadia. They have staked out Reaux's sex club when a young woman comes running down an alley, sheds her hoodie, and throws herself into Toryn' s arms, kissing him passionately. Then two of Reaux's thugs enter the alley and Toryn feels a tingle. He quickly realizes she is a Talent, that she is using him as cover and shielding their thoughts from the thugs who keep going past them.

Keely and her sister, Becca, were cast out of their home by their religious zealot father when they showed signs of being Talents in their mid teens. They have survived in the underbelly of New Seattle and now have a book and fortune telling store. They pay protection money to Reaux, but Reaux has kidnapped Becca for his Talent sex trade and a big auction coming up. Keely is determined to free her sister and devises a plan, which falls apart when they try to hold her as well. She escapes, only to run into the most handsome man she has ever seen, literally. And a new plan develops when Reaux has her store vandalized and Toryn appoints himself as Keely's protector.

Loved this book. Our hero Toryn, is a hard ass, not just because he has to be but because of everything he has been through. Constantly rejected by the women in his life he has sworn to never again become close or involved with a woman ever! And then Keely happen's along in need of someone to help her and Toryn just happens to be in the right place at the right time. He begins to like her from the first moment he meets her but doesn't want to. Keely just wants to save her sister and while trying to do so needs a bit of help when she stumbles upon Toryn in a back alley while she is trying to escape the people who have her sister. They eventually team up much to Toryn's dismay and of course their relationship develops until Toryn feels betrayed by Keely. These two are perfect for eachother but have their trouble realizing it. Of course as always Laurie's books are full of action and steam. I'm sure there are going to be more in the Iron Portal series and can't wait to see who's story is next. What I love most about these books is that while they are part of a series they are each their own story and I never know who's story will be next. Their are some series that if you don't read them in order then you get kind of lost. This series you definitely don't get lost because each story is it's own. Definitely going to be a must read at the top of my list when the next book comes out!

Rebel's Desire is the 4th Book In Laurie London's Iron Portal Series. This book could be read as a stand alone but is better when read within the series. This book centers around Toryn an Iron Guild Warrior who is trying to stop a mobster who is financing raids into Cascadia and Keely who is a young woman with a talent. Keely and her sister were kicked out of their house when they were teens and people discovered they were gifted. They only had each other and so they started a small business that they run together. Unfortunately, they have to pay a portion of their money to a mobster or he will turn them over to the Army since they have a talent. When they are late with one of the payments the mobster kidnaps Keely's sister. Keely is desperate to save her sister and when she runs into Toryn and finds out that he also wants to take the mobster down the two end up working together.

Both Toryn and Keely are strong characters who have been betrayed in the past and so have a little bit of trouble depending and believing in other people. I liked them both and their relationship was believable. Another good book in the series.

This is the fourth book in the Iron Portal series and I would recommend that you read them all. Not because of any links in the storyline but just because they are all quick, fantastic reads.

This story is about Keely and her sister, who were thrown out at a young age by their father, for being freaks. Taryn is a Cascadian who comes to the rescue of a damsel in distress, even though she is the one who acts first. Keely is a kick-ass warrior who will fight when necessary and has learnt to live on the streets. She knows the rules and which ones she can break or bend. Taryn doesn't like anyone and he trusts even less. So when these two get together, things are bound to get fiery.

The characters in this are as delightful as always, like them like Keely or dislike (loathe is too strong a word) like her sister, they are well-rounded and believable. The Iron Guild warriors are as united as ever.

A fast-paced and well-written story with no plot holes plus a good amount of angst. The Iron Portal series continues to deliver. Definitely recommended.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Discovering Love!!!

Keely Weber was kicked out of her house along with her sister, Becca because of their Talents....Working together in a not so good part of New Seattle as a bookstore owners. One day as Keely was bringing the money to pay a shady businessman some goid for nothing idiots stole her money. As she reached the store, Becca was gone.

Toryn Flynn was a Warrior of the Iron Guild, he and his fellow teammates were looking to take out the main culprit responsible for the raids and killing of so many Cascadians. A ruthless and shady man by the name of Davin Reaux.

As fate would have it Keely was looking for a way to get to mister Reaux as well to rescue her sister. So when she literally threw herself into Toryn's arms as a way to distract Reaux's men, a secret path was already seal between them.

It was great to see the hereos and the heroines from the previous novels working together with Toryn and Keely to bring down Reaux.

REBEL'S DESIRE was outstanding. It had my emotions off the charts.....Magnificent job by Laurie London. Two thumbs up and five stars!

JUST ENOUGH EROTIC CONTENT TO MAKE YOU SQUIRM.

Can we order one like Toryn? I keep wondering if maybe there could be someplace to get an old fashioned gentleman barbarian to have as my own? They seem teachable and are so eager to please.

Author, Laurie London, has done a marvelous job of creating a great contemporary romance with a little historical content which is a great way to give us independent modern heroines and men that still enjoy taking care of their women in an old fashioned way.

There is more than just romance here. There is modern warfare mixed in with historical warriors that do everything in their power to show the women they love how special and beautiful they are.

Don't miss out on this action packed romance series. They are a well edited light read that will entertain you. Ms. London has created two distinct worlds that are fun to daydream about as you read. Think Mel Gibson in Braveheart with a modern Hallmark channel movie. Nummy. Go ahead read and enjoy!

Keely and Becca Weber were unceremoniously tossed out of the family home for being talents. That just wasn't tolerated in New Seattle. Finding a place near the docks, the sisters rely on each other and scratch out their existence in a little shop. Running afoul of the protection lord, Becca is kidnapped in trade.

Cynic and loner Toryn Flynn he's been let down so often he doesn't believe anything anyone tells him... ever. But on a mission on Keely's side of the portal opens the way for a chance meeting. Keely's running from her nemesis' henchmen while Toryn is looking for a way to stop the same man from funding crossings to rape, pillage and murder his people. But just then Toryn's in a position to help her.

More of Keely's friends and neighbors who are also talents begin missing from their homes and jobs. The pull of his mate makes Toryn's mission more critical and he leaves Keely only to plead permission for her to cross the portal and get more Iron Guild Warriors to break the fiefdom in Cascadia.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

We join the Iron Portal gang for Toryn's story. He's a little rough around the edges, but find himself hiding his past when a wild child throws herself into his arms.

Keely is determined to get her sister back from an evil mobster. They were late on their payoff (because of her own mistakes) and now her sister is being controlled and abused. To distract the thugs chasing her, she ends up making out with a stranger that only leads her into more trouble. What seemed like a fun, supportive, and sizzling hot relationship only ends up being even more confusing that her current sister troubles.

These two end up being your typical drama filled couple. One hides a bunch of secrets, then ends up being defensive and leaping to conclusions. Blah blah blah. The great part is that the end result is worth it. Another warrior paired off and "mellowed."

Book 4 of the series is just as good as the rest of the books in this series. Toryn is an Iron Guild Warrior who is trying to stop a mobster who is financing the raids into Cascadia. Keely is a young woman with a talent who was kicked out of her father's house with her older sister when she was sixteen. The two sisters own a book store and have to pay money to the same monster in order to receiv a modicum of protection from the Army. They team up when the mobster kidnaps Keely's sister. Still love this series and can't wait until the next one. The characters have depth and a the author creates a great story line. I would definitely recommend this entire series.

Laurie is amazing, I cant praise her work enough, her characters get better and better as the series moves on.
Rebel's desire is book 4 in the series but it can be read as a standalone, but I wouldn't. I enjoy following the characters in the series and feel that you get a better appreciation for the guild when you read them in order.
Once again this is a shortish read but it doesn't take away the action and plot line.
Laurie's characters are strong and her wording leaves you holding onto your breath to see what is going to happen next, this story is hot, steamy and full of action. The character arent going to be the usual weak and meek.
This is a must read for any paranormal fan.

This started out wonderfully but the last third or fourth of the story felt forced. It felt rushed or like the author lost interest or maybe had to hurry for a deadline. The groundwork for setting up the characters and the story was laid out well. I felt like the characters had a relationship in the works and there was more to the story than boy meets girl. As the story reached its peak everything was rushed, the girls are rescued but the villian isn't really resolved. Then, it was as if the author was going to just stop leaving the ending undefined but then realized the mistake. At that point there is sort of a false drama between our lovebirds that just didn't really add anything to the story.

I loved this book. It is the 4th in the series and one of my favorites.I fell in love with this story form the very forst page during a steamy kiss in a dark alley. The Iron Portal series can be read independently or in order. I recommend reading it in order. Although this book is kinda shortish it does not take anything away from it. This book is fast paced and full of danger, action and lots of steamy sex scenes. I love that Keely is a strong courageous woman and will fight for who she loves. I would definitely recommend this amazing book. It is a must read.

Loved this series. This can be read as a standalone book but its better when you read it as part of the series. I couldn't put the book down it was so good. Toryn doesn't believe he can ever trust a woman again. Keely was thrown out of her home with her sister when she was sixteen when her family found out they had a talent. She is tormented by society and the people she used to know. Toryn and Keely fall in love and learn to trust each other during the suspenseful rescue of her sister. I can't wait for the next book!

Toryn is a hard and untrusting man with a history of bad experiences. Keely grew up in a puritanical community, her father leading his flock of fanatics. When she and her sister are cast out after manifesting their talents, Keely had to adapt to a life of independence and self reliance. But when Keely latches on to Toryn one dark night in a seedy neighborhood, they find that they have a common enemy. Together they must use their talents and those of their friends to overthrow the crime boss of the underworld. But they must first learn to trust each other or neither of them will survive.

I thought this book was an ok addition to the Iron Portal Series.
I enjoyed the way Toryn and Keely met. I liked the initial chemistry between them, but I wanted to see their attraction develop at a deeper level. I know there needed to be a sense of urgency because of the conflict that was taking place with Keely's sister, but the story started to feel rushed about halfway through. I enjoyed meeting the character Toryn. I found Keely's talent interesting. There were some really good scenes in the book where their physical romance was concerned. Overall it was an ok story.

I read this as part of Dark and Damaged, but also received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I find that the Iron Portal series is becoming one of my favorite new series, because it deals not just with a post-disaster world, but with parallel dimensions, corrupt governments, psy abilities, and cultural disconnects. It's an increasingly robust world with recognizable real-world problems.

Toryn and Keely are both coming from backgrounds that lead them a little jaded, a little untrusting, but the instant spark is undeniable. She's gun shy and he's an idiot sometimes, but they work through it. All in all a great addition to the series.
