Okay, I'll admit it. This volume had me hooked from the very beginning. I am so invested in this story I don't even know what to say. If I had stopped reading after the disappointment that was volume one I wouldn't be here, so thank goodness I kept going.

I can't believe I felt any sympathy for Fei Long. He is such a cold and calculating person and he has no problem using Akihito in whatever way he feels is necessary to get at Asami. Raping him whenever he gets a chance is his way of punishing him for having Asami's affection as well as revenge for Asami for disappearing on him all those years ago.

Akihito doesn't help himself either; always putting his nose in places it shouldn't be. That ending was horrifying, and I have no choice but to start the next volume immediately. 4 stars

**I'm not reading any of the oneshots included in these volumes. I guess they aren't all oneshots because at least one of them has a continuing storyline, but since they have nothing to do with the main story (at least not that I can tell) I can't be bothered right now. When I do a reread of the series, I'll read them then.**

It's dark and complicated. Mafia brutes. I should not be loving this. But eh ☺️ TW: violence and abuse.

Not for the Faint of Heart - Finder Vol 3 Review

Okay, so after a long absence from reading naughty books (due in large part to amazon taking forever to ship some things) here we are again and after some Sand Creek Cranberry Ale I'm sitting here ready and raring to go. Of course, because no new naughty manga means back to Finder, a series that I continue to have some serious reservations about. I mean, I have never read a manga where rape seems so strong a plot element, and the really problematic thing continues to be the erotic portrayals of these rapes, because I really don't find that sort of thing arousing and yet here we are again with Sir Forcibly Lanced-alot (clever, no?) being raped.

Now, the plot of this volume involves the main character's friends being kidnapped, basically, and used to try and get this data disk from one of the previous volumes. This leads to some sex (which might be considered consensual) and then the friends being released. So the friends are released but the main character tries to take down the man responsible anyway (and the man who already raped him once) and (surprise surprise) gets raped again. It's like the author only knows that one plot point in this storyline, which is a shame because she shows real talent and a much wider range of interests in the smaller, much more enjoyable stories in the back of the volumes.

Ah, I wish that the entire volume was just the back material. Because the art is amazing. I would probably enjoy the main series more if it weren't translated, because then at least I could pretend that there wasn't so much messed up stuff there (as I don't read Japanese). Unfortunately, it has become too difficult to ignore all the rape, and I really wish that the story would just focus more on the relationship of the two main characters without the one being raped every sex scene. It's just not what I want to read. A bit luckily the next volume is rather expensive and so it will probably be a while until we get that.

The one downside to that is that I really like the one recurring backup about the two students whose dads have a relationship. That story continues to be the sweetest and makes me want to keep reading, but in this volume that story contains no sex, so a bit of a let down. Some back story, though, and that is nice. Indeed. The other story in the back, and there is only one other, involves baking and is great. It's sweet (a pun I guess) and it's one to make you smile. Only having the two stories in the back, and one of them without sex, though, is a little disappointing, as that is where I have had to look for the better material in this series.

So as I sip the last of my drink I can't help but drop the score of this just a bit. I mean, it had been hovering right on the threshold of where I might recommend it just for the fun stories in the back, but with this volume I have to say I can no longer really recommend it. The sex scenes are still great, rendered with care and with great detail and some variation, but it's just too much rape. And while the story starts to move the two main characters more towards a relationship, it's still too grounded in rape to do much for me. That said, I give this volume a 5/10.

It is very hard to follow up with an emotional, detailed volume 2 so I understand why I didn't like this volume as much.

There was a lot of Asami, Feilong conflict and it became kind of boring. The plot was a bit slow and cliche. And Akihito is getting a bit on my nerve, constantly fainting when things get serious. >________> Eh....can you not?

It was still kind of cute between Asami and Akihito but seriously, after volume 2, I kind of ship Feilong and Asami. :3

Even though I didn't give this a 5 star, but I still can't wait to read the next volume :3

Akihito becomes the pawn in the game between Asami and Feilong, though it's his own reckless behavior that gets him in the worst trouble yet. I also liked the short and sweet story about Akihito calling Asami over and over and over again on New Year's Eve until Asami snapped and went and picked the drunk Akihito up. The rest of the standalone short stories was quite cute too!

I told myself I wasn’t going to write a review for this series.

And honestly, I’ve told myself that a couple times. Now I love this little blog I’ve created and all the amazing stories it allows me to share with everyone, but sometimes I really just want to read something for myself and not think about how I’m going to phrase a review for it in the background. So when I pulled this old school series off our shelf, some of the volumes were still plastic wrapped and I was thinking I was just going to fall into some old school mature yaoi and enjoy myself and nothing else.

But obviously, I’m writing this review, so we see how well that went. Oh well ^__^

The side stories are so random lol, but I like them. I honestly don't remember what happened in this volume, which is kind of terrible since I just read it, but I am enjoying this series. It's very much a trashy romance. Problematic, but fun.

Asami and Akihito are finding their rhythm when it comes to the chemistry between but Fei Long’s agenda throws a spanner into this process.

Fei Long ends up kidnapping Akihito after an altercation with Asami’s men, which begins a new arc for the story.

This volume was more appealing and stronger than the first two, which is relieving because I already have the next two in the series.

Okay I’m starting to lose interest lol. Does there have to be sex in every single chapter? I’d rather have some buildup. It’s getting monotonous.

I fell in love with the Finder series in book one. Asami and Takaba are interesting, multifacted characters, the sex is hot, and with the yakuza angle, there’s always a story to go with the romance. The first two books really stood alone. In this book, Yamane goes to a new level and introduces a gripping story arc that will span multiple book and force the evolution of their relationship. The Arc of Truth.

The story opens when Fei Long kidnaps some of Takaba’s friends to force him to hand over the data disk from book 2. Takaba goes to Asami for help and is rebuffed. What follows is one of the hottest sex scene between the two in any of the books! With Asami drugging Takaba afterwards to keep him (safe) from finding Fei Long. Only, Takaba is stubborn and goes after his friends. There’s a lot of non-bedroom action, in addition to continuing sexual tension, including a shoot-out with serious consequences. In short, I was riveted right up to the cliffhanger ending.
The mains tory arc ends, but this book also includes a bonus Finder short story and second unrelated short story. The Finder story was hilarious and very enjoyable when Takaba gets drunk and starts crank calling Asami, with predictable results. The other story concerns two salesmen who get try out the products in a sexy way.

This book was previously published by Be Beautiful before it went out of business. This new edition has a far superior translation that helps the story flow more naturally. The dialog is sharp and modernized. As per usual, Yamane’s artwork is stellar and my personal standard for yaoi. Warning: this installment includes an outright rape scene that could disturb some readers. Overall, a fantastic book in a great series! Highly recommended!

I love Ayano Yamane's art. . . always beautiful. HOWEVER, I have to say that after Volume 2, I totally ship Asami x Fei Long. Loved that storyline with them. *sigh* So then, yeah, this volume was not as highly rated for me. . . but ok, I will carry on with the story anyway as I love the art and the hot sex and just seeing Fei Long in all his androgynous glory.

The main couple in this does nothing for me as that they are a hot mess of dysfunction, trauma, and rape but the side story about the two boys who suspect their dads are carrying on a secret gay affair is the only reason I continue to read this.

Now that Asami and Akihito’s relationship is heating up, Asami’s crime rival, Fei Long, has taken a special interest into Akihito; especially since he has classified information that Fei desperately wants. Great action packed volume.

Ayyy let's go! This volume, Finder: On One Wing is mostly composed of Finder's "Naked Truth (Japan Arc)," but we also get some behind the scenes information and a few bonus stories: "Love Surprise," a Finder one-shot, "Baked Sweet Glasses," an unrelated one-shot about salesmen, "Seedlings in Love," another addition to the Mizuno and Hiyama mini series, and "Hardworking Photographer Akihito Takaba's Alluring Overnight Overtime," a Finder salaryman AU spin off.

Naked Truth (Japan Arc)
Yessss!! "Naked Truth" Arc I love you!!!!!

There is SO much about this arc I love, and I am trying really hard to not get ahead of myself and talk only about the Japan section of this arc... which is hard because the Hong Kong section of the arc makes me vibrate out of my skin.

I love the relationship between Asami, Akihito, and Fei Long -- and that relationship, between each of them in pairs and the three of them as a whole, is really the crux of this whole arc (and I am so excited for all the moments between Fei Long and Akihito in the coming volumes).

Fei Long really shines in this volume by managing to manipulate Asami through Akihito more than once because he understands that Akihito is a significant person to Asami (and therefore a significant piece on the chessboard that is underworld) which Asami and Akihito themselves aren't even admitting at this point. To neither of their faults, really. Akihito is in denial that he is anything special to Asami because of how he's been treated (understandable) and how Asami talks to him (also understandable). And Asami? He hasn't admitted it because while he is interested in Akihito and clearly drawn to him, he did not want to drag him into underworld conflicts.

This was something that really stood out to me on my reread -- Asami knew Akihito was someone special to him, but he seemingly wanted to keep him at a distance to keep him safe, which is a nice thought, but ultimately impossible, as just being with Asami makes him both a target and an uncontrollable variable. It's impossible to keep him safe at a distance, and it's even more impossible to keep him out of underworld affairs, so Asami's only option is to pull him even closer, and try to keep him safe there.

Even though Akihito is manipulated because he doesn't have much power compared to a gang boss, he is still able to hold his own -- he knows his worth, knows how to withhold information, and is able to work within his narrow restraints to make the best of his situation. Also, even under pressure and in duress, he finds it in him to be extremely sassy but also very open and honest about himself, which is one of the things that makes him one of my all time favorite characters (pages 82-83, my beloved), and he is willing to do whatever he needs to achieve his goals. It gets overshadowed sometimes because he is often being saved by Asami or getting whisked around in gang activity where he has no power, but Akihito is very clever, very resourceful, and very able to take care of himself and make his own moves, and I really love him for it. (The bonus character introduction and interview with him is so cute, he's really just a silly, happy go lucky guy. I get it Asami, I really do).

Also, once again, special shout out to all of Akihito's outfits. His 90s/early 2000s aesthetic slays so hard (tbh, I love the 2000s vibe of this whole story, which is silly to say given that's when it was made, but the vibe of the era is captured so well that it makes me a little nostalgic to read). Also special shout out to Fei Long. He is absolutely serving in every single scene he's in, and we need to give him credit for it.

Love Surprise
A pretty cute one-shot. I like how it really shows that Asami will put up with anything when it's Akihito who's doing it (as long as he's not, like, purposely endangering himself).

Baked Sweet Glasses
Really cute, and kinda ridiculous (as a baker, I cannot condone that use of frosting at all though lol). I love how persistent and carefree Fujiya is, and for a one-shot, it had a shockingly high amount of tropes I like, including both baking and really bad eye sight. What are the odds??

Seedlings in Love
Another installment in my favorite mini series <3 Yay <3 The background story for Mizuno and Hiyama's dads is just too cute. Old Men Yaoi <3 is wonderful on its own, but old men yaoi were they were rivals in their youth spurring the other on toward greatness?? Be still my beating heart...

Hardworking Photographer Akihito Takaba's Alluring Overnight Overtime
I love this little AU so much, it's SO fun to see these characters I know and love suddenly being thrown into a wildly different world and with a wildly different relationship dynamics . Ayano Yamane is really out here writing fanficiton for her own story and you know what?? I respect her so much for that. Queen shit.

Akihito unintentionally comes into possession of a data disk that everyone wants. Thinking it must be bad, he wipes the data. When Fei Long comes looking for the information, he kidnaps Akihito’s friends to pressure him to get the information from Asami. Takaba goes to Asami for help and is rebuffed. What follows is a truly steamy sex scene between the two and Asami drugging Takaba afterwards to keep him from finding Fei Long. Only, Takaba is stubborn and goes after his friends. The Mangaka goes to a new level with this volume and introduces a gripping story arc that will span multiple book and force the evolution of their relationship: The Arc of Truth. The two groups go head-to-head in a shoot-out, with Fei Long and Asami both injured and Akihito trapped in the middle. Fei Long escapes to Hong Kong, but he takes Akihito as a hostage.

Though I really enjoyed the direction the story turns, I found this volume a trifle disappointing with about a third taken up by a side story with different characters. The high quality from SuBlime is still evident in this volume, with color insert and the deluxe edition bonus Finder story at the end. The closing story is a sexy, cute story of Akihito prank calling Asami while drunk on New Year’s and the consequences of interrupting Asami’s sleep. A solid entry in the series, but I hope future volumes cut out the side stuff.

Riuscirà Akihito a salvarli? Sempre divertenti e simpatici!

This Japanese Mafia Manga is really getting good. It's very entertaining. Akihito thinks he's all clear of this business when his friends are kidnapped by Fei and now he's pulled into all this stuff all over again.

Asami is still cool calm and collected and he's trying to keep Akihito out of it. He doesn't realize how serious Fei is.

The action is good and the characters are tough. I'm having a lot of fun reading this. I can't wait for volume 4. I just hope the library has it still so I can read on.

At this point I just keeping buying the volumes because I’m a whore for the covers and the art is amazing.
Still don’t know exactly what’s going on or why everyone just defaults to non con situations besides Asami but I’m still intrigued. This is like the type of series where you don’t know what’s going on but you just have to keep reading to see where it leads you. At least for now.

This volume is the one that keeps you on the edge of your seat because now it's now just Akihito, but his friends involved. However, that's only half of the manga. The other half is full of character interviews, side stories, and the side stories of the father. I enjoyed them, but they also kinda take away the tension of the cliffhanger.

I just love how Akihito has no idea the depth of what Asami will go to protect him... well in a way of his definition of protection!! It's delightful!! Also Akihito is not going to admit IF feelings are forming if his life depends on it... which could be interesting since he's been kidnapped to Hong Kong! La La La! Let's see what happens now!

I hate how Akihito is caught between Fei long and Asami's dispute. Hate how Fei Long use him and abuse him and URGH.

But I'm glad that Asami at least likes Akihito to the point where he wants to help, he clearly doesn't want Akihito in this mess.

Compared to the last two volumes, this volume actually had me wanting to know more because of story not because I paid for these books so imma read them. Soooo…. That’s good? You should like the story that you read for the plot not because you paid money for the product.
