"Yuu belongs to me!"

dsdfjpsfowhjpefjwhpefojwepfojapfojpdof!!!!!!

MY BABIES ARE FINALLY TOGETHER!!!!

This volume was so full of awesomeness!!

And so very messy. So many death happening after this... and Guren... Dammit, dammit, dammit!

I loved those glimpses of Guren and Yuu, four years ago. They have a complicated relationship but I truly believe that Guren cares a lot about Yuu, just like Yuu cares so much about him.

What Yuu did with the pills was a stupid and reckless thing to do, but I totally understand why he did it, and it's one of the things I love most about him. His loyalty and his believes in love, friendship and family. Never abandoning his friends and family, never giving up on them.

Narumi and Shinoa's Squads protecting Mika and Yuu... Yoichi saying to Mika that he was part of the family too... my heart.

Next chapter is all about Mikayuu and I just can't even!!!! fjaijfqioejfeqifjq!!!

I love the backstory on Guren and Yu.

Uh, Guren got captured and Yu goes back for him and then the demon. *meep* And then the team goes to save Yu!

I love how far Yu came and all the teamness. <3

non ce molto da dire, l’unica cosa da recuperare è il capitolo 34.5 che parla del passato di Guren e Yuu e di come quest’ultimo ha ottenuto la spada che si vede fin dalle prime pagine.
Il resto è tutto saltabile essendo uguale all’anime.

The action in Nagoya continues. Guren and Shinya are getting pummeled by Crowley. Yu, with the Shinoa squad and Guren’s companions only manage to rescue one of them. Yu, not able to accept this, pushes himself too far. Mika, meanwhile, is prepared to fight the whole human army to get Yu to safety!

Full review of anime and manga up to chapter 100 or so: https://ajungleoftales.blogspot.com/2...

Favorite moments (spoilers, obviously!):
- The flashback that helps explain why Yu is so attached to an ass like Guren, someone who admits to wanting to use him as a weapon. We see 12-year-old Yu wake up screaming from another nightmare of Mika and the rest of their family dying. Guren comes to sit with him, and Yu asks why Guren saved him when he doesn’t really have a reason to live anymore. Guren tells him that, if he has to, he should live for revenge until he can find a new reason; that if he can stay alive long enough, someday someone will need him again.
- While Yu exploding his own internal organs by taking too many stimulant pills in his eagerness to rescue Guren is just such…on-brand stupidity for him, his conversation with Asuramaru is very interesting. The demon essentially says: “Yeah, sorry. You’re dead. Or you should be. Those angels are keeping you alive. But they’re pretty nasty, so just stick with me, OK?”
- The bonus chapter, where we learn where Yu got his first (normal) sword. When a vampire got loose and Yu chose to try and protect someone rather than going for the sword that he wanted, Guren says: “Unlike me, you’re still nice…You won’t be able to live just for revenge…[so] I guess I can give you a sword.”

4.5 ★

Really enjoyed the flashbacks in this volume, giving us glimpses of Yu and Guren’s past. The battle continues against the vampire nobles and the squads have to make some tough decisions about leaving one of their own behind. Mika and Yu are so close to another reunion my heart can’t take it.

I loved seeing more of Guren and Yu's relationship and how much they both really care about each others and even tho I don't trust Guren 100% bcuz he's probably using Yu, he still also cares about him plus they give such Father/Son vibes its adorable also Kimizuki saving Yu was sweet I love how they always fight but when it counts they are there for the other

Mini-summary ahead:

Ok so as I said before... the whole thing goes even crazier.

The fight with Crowley goes real bad real quick and they are basically loosing (very much)
They have to leave Guren behind because if they don’t Crowley is going to kill them all, but then Yu in all his crazy love for family and camaraderie takes two pills so he can go save Guren and... dies.

I WAS LIKE DYING WHEN THAT HAPPENED WTH.

Of course he doesn’t really die (might have to do with the whole seraph of the end thing) and tries to save Guren but he fails and at the end they take Yu away and Guren... Guren is just there. I know he doesn’t die pero the fear is real😂.

Yu also goes crazy and nearly turns into a demon but that’s always happening so what’s new?

Mika’s there so now is when he kidnaps Yu (that’s unconscious from the strain put on his body... let’s remember HE DIED).

The battle against Crowley Eusford rages with all the cursed gear and power being no match for the vampire noble, ending with tragic consequences. Not that Yuichirou Hyakuya is willing to accept them. He’s willing to give his body and soul to Asumaru to save Guren, pressing Crowley hard enough that the vampire is simply itching to drain Yu dry. Neither Guren nor Yu’s teammates are willing to let Yu make this sacrifice, any more than Mikaela Hyakuya, who is getting closer and closer to finding his lost Yu.

This volume was loaded with action and character development, focusing mostly on the mentorly relationship between Guren and Yu, showing Guren can be a really good papa, even if he isn’t willing to admit he’s anything of the sort at first, both of the action of the main plotline and the flashbacks from when Guren first took Yu in. This reader got the impression that Guren needed Yu as much as Yu needed Guren. Both of them were caught in an emotional crisis, or suffering the backlash of them, having lost Mahiru and Mika. The scenes of Mika dying at Ferid’s hands get more dramatic each time Yu recalls it, with Ferid actually picking Mika up and carrying him away from Yu before biting him. This is more and more removed from what actually happened, showing how memory is altered by a rage for revenge, becoming not only a motivation to kill vampires but to keep his distance from everyone. Yu isn’t keeping it from Guren, whose own regret is embodied by an image of a faraway Mahiru, standing on top of a pile of bodies, remote and out of reach. The memory of her is becoming more distance, yet it still haunts him. Perhaps Guren’s memories of Mahiru would have been as visceral and warped by feelings of loneliness and loss as Yu’s are, if he hadn’t had Shinya, Sayuri, Shigure, Mito, and Norito, friends to put some distance between himself and his tragic lost love, giving him someone else to devote himself to. It’s clear that Guren sees much of himself in Yu, understanding how much this boy needs someone else in his life to fill the emptiness left by the loss of Mika. In fact, he sees with a father figure’s worried eye that Yu still has a loving heart and he doesn’t wish to see it warped by his child’s darker impulses. All of this was depicted beautifully in the art work and the story, for which Kagami-sensei, Yamamoto-sensei, and Furuya-sensei should all be very proud. The characters who stood out most besides Guren and Yu were Kimizuki and Crowley. Kimizuki acts on the same impulse which drives Yu to save Guren in one of the most dramatic action sequences in this volume, along with some of the most emotionally charged ones, trying to save Yu from himself. Right before that is a very different scene where we see how much Crowley is driven to seek out what’s entertaining, a crucial need in an immortal. This is why he follows Ferid Bathory, this is why he’s tempted to drain Yu dry every time they meet. He’s a little more capable of reason than many other vampires, such as Chess and Lacus, yet Crowley lives for fun. Asumaru provided some intriguing insights in his quiet moments with Yu, when Yu finds himself torn between a demon’s power and the mysterious seraph’s, building up the intensity and mystery of the ongoing plot. All of this was depicted in exquisite art work, giving me the impression that the author, artist, and story boarder all outdid themselves in this particular volume. For all of these things, I give this five stars.

3.5 brought down to 3/5 since that extra chapter really wasn't worth it. I am imagining the extra chapter was the one-off chapter made for WSJ to promote the series to other Shonen Jump readers who don't read Jump SQ but man was it weak. It just sorta recapped the theme of family and friendship. But it had a vampire dressed up in gay cowboy attire so that was something lol.
This is a far more action-heavy volume which was nice. We get the continuation of the Crowley fight. The fight was nice but it lacked an extra oomph. I think having the vampires have super powers or some sort of special abilities would make the human vs vampire fights more intriguing.I appreciate the whole "theyre so overpowered they don't special powers" but the vampire part of fight scenes are just lacking artistic oomph most of the time to really sell it. Tho Crowley breaking the wall and getting Shinya was dope af. Part of the issue draggint this fight is the repetition of certain things. The story keeps on harping on family which is getting a bit overdone. Yu also has constantly gone against orders and then is rewarded by everyone so his breakaway moment was less dramatic as it would have felt.
We still do get some mystery moments which are neat. The Hiragi complications continues as Kureto is setting up his hidden agenda not to overthrow the Hiragis like Guren but be the ultimate hero or something. Additionally, with Asumaru we learn that Yu apparently has an angel in him or something which is neat development.

"DOES LIVING HURT?" 😭😭

This was so good I was literally holding my breath.

The fight against Crowley continues as everyone gets their ass beat and Guren gets taken captive. Yu on the other hand immediately refuses to lose another family member and does the stupidest actions possible. It's so on brand for him that I'm not even mad lmao.

Yu's feral need to save his loved ones to the point of heading toward his own destruction goes so hard. He's reckless and stupid but he has so much heart and loyalty.😭 The scene when he takes the stimulants popped OFF.

We get more backstory about Yu and Guren's relationship and it absolutely killed me??? I'm not crying at Guren calling Yu "his kid" or staying by his bedside when Yu woke up from a nightmare screaming four years ago. How Guren tells him to live for revenge and then later on tells him he has to find people to fight for. 😭 How Yu gets his first sword from Guren because he chose to help someone instead of trying to get a weapon. Happy belated father's day bitch because I'm crying in the club.

Mika showing up at the end like🧍‍♂️where's my bf!! He's so real for that.

I should’ve written the review immediately after finishing this because I suddenly can’t remember the events. I mean, I don’t think it was super eventful.

Wait… something about Guren getting captured by the Vampire nobles? And Yu going back to save him alone like an idiot, which just backfires? Yeah, I remember some of it now. While I was reading I admired Yu’s loyalty and care for Guren (undeserved, btw) but I thought that he was just getting himself killed, and that one person is not that big of a sacrifice compared to everyone they would need were they to risk rescuing Guren. Again, Guren doesn’t deserve it. We’ve learned previously that he’s been using Yu as a subject for human experimentation. Something to do with a power called “Seraph of the End”. Yu might not care about it, but I do. Guren shouldn’t get to do whatever he wants with Yu just because he took him in. That’s not and will never be how it works. I still have mixed feelings about Guren, but I will admit that he is very flawed, and I wouldn’t be devastated to the point of tears would he die. I vote they just leave him, but will they listen? No, they, or at least Yu, will not.

This event took over the volume seeing as I can’t recall anything else, but either way this is the only commentary I want to offer as of right now, before I start writing paragraphs about Mika and how much I love him.

Probably the only thing to ding this volume for is having so few pages dedicated to the main current plot. The bonus chapter which appeared in a different magazine than JUMP SQ provides backstory to Yu and Guren for what happened immediately after he left Sanguinem, however the placement of it occurring in this volume was a bit unfortunately. My favorite part of the series is the quest for Mika finding Yu and Yu finding him and to keep us one or so chapters away from it potentially was cruel. Still at least they are finally near.

The volume was intense with Yu being pushed to the limit to save his family, unfortunately, something happens to him leaving that note on a cliffhanger while the others must take matters in their own hands.

Overall, it was a fantastic set of chapters. The writer knows exactly how to write well written action and drama. I love it.

The bonus was a YuuMika mini poster which is the color version of one of the pagespreads in the volume, character materials collection including chibi art, and the afterword.

Kureto Higari is pltting something big, that will make him a “hero” (I seriously hate this guy….)
Guren & Shinya are getting their asses kick by Crowley and are trying to retreat. The Lieutenant get capture and the others have nu choice but to escape. Yuu is not happy about this.
There is a little flashback scene about Guren & Yuu, the older man gives the young soldier a reason to live.
The boy act without thinking again and take two pills, even if he has been warned that this could be dangerous. He overdoses shortly after. Asuramaru give him more power and he become obsess about saving his family. Yuu get possess by his demonic sword but is sav by his team.
Mika is still on the way. And just like in the anime, this is taking forever before he gets reunite with Yuu.
Hopefully by volume 10 there will have some interaction between the two friends.

Not sure what to say about this volume that I haven't already said about other installments of the series. Still interesting, will keep reading. Wish there was less awkward humor about supposed romantic tension between some of the characters - not my kind of humor and some of it is just obviously supposed to be fan service of a flavor I'm waaaaaay too old to enjoy (I am an adult, being forced to be a voyeur of young teenage girls wrestling in the shower in an earlier scene that clearly could have been written for the characters when they had clothes on, really squicked me out, but I know I'm not the target audience for this).

I loved seeing more of Guren and Yu's relationship and how much they both really care about each other even tho I know what happens between them (thank you anime) he still also cares about him plus they give such Father/Son vibes it's adorable also Kimizuki saving Yu was sweet I love how they always fight but when it counts they are there for the other, they remind me of Naruto and Sasuke at the beginning (currently on my naruto shippuden watch and feeling nostalgic). I'm having the best time reading this series and I can't wait to finish the stuff that have been animated and move to the unknown stuff

Ugh...I’m reaching my limit with the asshole parade courtesy of Kureto Hiragi and every FUCKING vampire that isn’t Mika. It really takes me out of the experience every damn time these people are on the page and it makes me want to drop the series.

Yu’s flashbacks to life with Guren was nice and seeing Kimizuki’s demon in action was awesome, but it wasn’t enough to bolster this volume’s rating. As usual, all the good was unfortunately marred by the bad. Honestly, unless something changes soon, I’m tempted to drop this series. I guess I’ll keep going for now.
