The Widow's Bachelor Bargain by Teresa Southwick is one of The Bachelor's Of Blackwater Lake Series. Maggie Potter's husband passed about over two years ago. She has a two year old girl named Danielle. Maggie opened a Bed and Breakfast. She has an older lady living in one bedroom. One more bedroom open. Sloan Holden is in town because his company is in charge of a new development going up. Sloan is rich and has a reputation with the women, so the tabloids say. He was once married and divorced. Danielle get attached to Sloan. Maggie likes Sloan but doesn't want her heart or Danielle's heart to be broken when he leaves town. Maggie pushes Sloan away. Sloan has feelings for Maggie and he loves Danielle as if she were his own. A very good romance story. A very good read.
Fun and easygoing but it did end rather abruptly: slow-burning romance (10-ish chapters) > trouble (1-2 chapters) > trouble sorted let's get married! (1 chapter)
"Southwick’s descriptive, humorous and metaphoric narrative brings the bucolic town and story to life. Her circle of friends and the couple’s banter enhance the experience. Her fabulous little tyke co-star and the birth of this new family are exceptionally touching" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
