Kathleen Kelly Martin (aka Kathy Lawrence, Kasey Mars)

Kathleen Kelly was born on 14 July 1947 in the Central Valley of California, USA. She obtained a degree in Anthropology and also studied History at the University of California in Santa Barbara. She was a real estate broker, when she met her future husband, Larry Jay Martin. A short time after the two became acquainted, Larry asked her to read an unpublished manuscript of an historical western he'd written. Kat fell in love with both the book and the author! Then, after doing some editing for him, she thought she'd try her own hand at writing. She moved on to become a full time writer.

Published since 1988, she signed her books with her married name, Kat Martin, but she also used two pseudonyms: Kathy Lawrence for a book in collaboration with her husband Larry Jay Martin, and Kasey Mars for her first contemporary romances. The New York Times bestselling writer, among her many awards, has won the prestigious RT Book Review Magazine Career Achievement Award. To date, Kat has over eleven million copies of her books in print. She has been published in seventeen foreign countries, including England, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Bulgaria, China, and Korea.

Currently residing with her husband, a Western-writer and photographer, in Missoula, Montana, USA. But when they are not writing, they also enjoy skiing and traveling, particularly to Europe.

"I've always loved books. I was an avid reader, with any number of my own stories rolling around in my head. Writing them down seemed a logical step."

"I love anything old," Kat says. "I love to travel and especially like to visit the places where my books are set. My husband and I often stay in out-of-the-way inns and houses built in times past. It's fun and it gives a wonderful sense of a by-gone era."

"You meant everything to me, Meg, and I meant nothing to you."-Dirk

*Spoilers*

"It's Charlie. He's been kidnapped. They left a note. It says they'll...they'll kill him if I go to the police."-Meg

Hells Yeah! That is what I'm talking about...... OMG Dirk's book!!!!! I fell in love with Dirk when I read, Into the Fury, the 1st book in this series. I knew his book was next and I almost went crazy waiting for him, because patience is not my virtue. So when I saw it on Netgalley well first I let out a loud squeal then I requested it. Then when I got it I did a crazy happy dance.

 photo sdjfhsdhfjshd_zpsryhuzdtx.gif

"It has to be you. I know in my heart you can save Charlie. Only you." His jaw went iron hard. "Jesus, Meg." "Please, Dirk. Please help me." "Do you know what you're asking?" She knew. There was a time he had loved her. He had begged her to stay with him, give them a chance. Meg had refused.-Meg and Dirk

Dirk's story was everything I wanted and More...... lots of yummy action packed sexy More! I can't think of one thing I didn't love about this book. Not one and that almost never happens. At the end of book 1 my heart bled for Dirk. When Meg broke up with him(and for a lame reason I might add) I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. I knew when I read the sneak peek for Dirk and Meg's story that it was going to be a good one. I had liked Meg all through the first book until she ripped my Dirk's heart out then I knew she would have her work cut out for her to win me back. But won me back she did.

 photo delena-sex-wow_zpsmwfncccn.gif

"I loved him. I've never felt that way about anyone. Not the man I married. Not anyone. I loved him, but I knew it would never work." "Why not? You don't think he would have been a good husband, a good father to Charlie?" "I don't know." "If you loved him, dear, maybe you should have taken the time to find out."-Meg and Rose

Dirk was amazing. He was protective, giving, loving, and sexy. He had that bad boy I love fast cars, motorcycles, and danger vibe. He was so good to Meg. Helping her after she hurt him so badly. I loved getting to know Dirk on a deeper level in this book. He felt real, you could understand why he did and said the things he did. Which made him easy to connect to. Meg had a lame reason in my opinion for breaking up with Dirk, but she really did love him. She was a great mom and could be really sweet and brave. I love that she realized what a huge mistake she made with Dirk and she worked to win him back not the other way around. It went a long way in soothing my angry towards her that she said she was sorry, asked him for another chance and understood he needed time him to build back the trust. I loved them both together. Damn they had some intense passion. Dirk was beast! As a couple they both respected each other and were supportive. I loved that they didn't have a ton of angsty unnecessary relationship drama. They talked it out like adults! Beautiful.

 photo tumblr_inline_nkludpCqDP1qcoyt6_zpskzp4nhvy.gif

"We can't do this, Meg. I'm not going there with you again." Her eyes filled, making them look even bigger and bluer. "I can't take any more, Dirk. I'm going to break; I can feel it. I'm begging you. Just this once. Just for tonight. Please Dirk." He clamped down on his raging need. "Maybe you could take a sleeping pill. You must have something around here." "I don't want a sleeping pill! My son is missing! I can't bear to think of what might be happening to him! I want someone to hold me. I want someone to touch me. I want to forget for a while. Make me forget, Dirk. Please."-Dirk and Meg

This book was fast pace, exciting, and romantic. It had tons of action that kept me on the edge and a sweet little boy that melted my heart! I loved getting to see how the couple from book 1 was doing. Luke was in this book a lot and I really enjoyed getting to know him more. Luke's book is next and again I am all kinds of excited about getting my hands on that bad baby. The sneak peek at the end of this book only made me want it 10x more, and to know I have to wait until Feb. *Sigh* Torture! Great read I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Romantic Suspense .

"Have you ever made a mistake so big it just consumed you?" she asked softly. "Have you ever made a wrong choice you wished you could undo more than anything in the world?"-Meg

5 - "I never knew you were such a trouble magnet." Stars!

Ill openly admit that curiosity was 100% the reason I requested the ARC of Into the Whirlwind having seen so many positive reviews on-line for it, and having a little gap in my schedule, I thought 'what the hell' and decided to give Kat Martin a whirl.

And I am so glad I did, this book was an absolute roller-coaster from start to finish, some of the twists expected, some not-so-much, but all really enjoyable and relevant additions to the story-line overall.

"I’ve been in this from the start. I’m going to finish it."

I have to say that one constant source of gigglement throughout the book was the author’s description of our uber alpha hero Dirk Reynolds, because whenever his horseshoe mustache was mentioned (and it’s quite frequent), I got the following image in my head…

And also there was a bit of this –

All joking aside though, this was a really, really good book. I haven’t read anything by the author before, and this is the second book from her BOSS, Inc. series, so can absolutely be read as a standalone.

He was the lover she had missed every night since she had sent him away…

Meg O’Brien and Dirk Reynolds have history, being her Bodyguard whilst she was on the road modelling, five months previously ended up with them having a relationship at that time. Upon returning home, Meg ended things… Only over those intervening months she realises what a monumental mistake that was, especially now, her young son, Charlie has been kidnapped, and only Dirk and his colleagues from Brodie Operations Security Services, Inc. can help.

"I wasn’t fair to you… I assumed things about you I shouldn’t have."

Dirk agrees to help, especially as the ransom note, specifically stipulates no police involvement, and together with another team member from BOSS, Inc. Luke Brodie, they go on the hunt for the kidnappers, Charlie, and the person involved behind the scenes. It's not long before the feelings he thought were well buried rise to the fore, and Meg makes it her mission to make him understand that she want's him back in her life, as he is, horseshoe mustache and all.

This is romantic suspense at its best, just when you think you know what is going on, the author throws another spanner in the works, she also wasn’t shy about adding a little brutality at points, although the people being brutalized deserved everything they got. I read Into the Whirlwind in a day, it just grabbed me from the off, and kept me entertained until its finish. I found the end a little ‘cut & dried’, but still cannot fault the story as a whole.

Luke is up next! Into the Firestorm is due for release February 2017, *sigh… I’m looking forward to seeing what sort of story the author gives him. I am also lucky in that as an author new to me Kat Martin has an impressive back catalogue that I can get my teeth into, while I wait.

I love a great book when you get a bodyguard and a chick in trouble or hostage situation. Intense feelings brings out the passion in people. I also love it when an author can capture that intense feeling and pass it along to the reader, like the author does in this story.

This book has a ton of action and plenty of highs and lows. The author brought us a free-flowing story with memorable characters and plenty of heat along the way.

This book is a part of the series and while I did not read the first book in the series, I did not feel lost at all. With plenty of hot guys to intrigue us, there is never a dull moment with this story line.

I really enjoyed Dirk's character. Super sweet, super hot, and carrying his broken heart out front for everyone to see. I did not feel warm and fuzzy about Meg. In the beginning she annoyed me and played Dirk, which I did not care for. I didn't really warm up to her until towards the end when she somewhat redeemed herself in my eyes.

This is a book about second chances and I'm glad it wound up with the HEA. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

ARC provided by the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts slow, but please hang in there because the build up is like going up the hill on a roller-coaster. You are not going to want to put this one down. It grabs you and won't let you go. If the first half of this book was as good as the second half it would be one of her best. But the first half had me skimming dialogue and if someone had said, "She's his mother" as a justification for letting Meg do what she wants one more time, I would have hurled the book. Not really, it's on my Kindle, but you know what I mean.

At the end of "Into the Fury" Meg shows Dirk the door and breaks his heart. She had her reasons and they were valid. Dirk gave his heart to her and got it back broken in two. He is not at all interested in Heartbreak, The Sequel. Five months later her son is kidnapped and she turns to Dirk to find and rescue him. But this is Meg and like it or not, she owns a piece of him. The whole kidnapping, ransom and rescue, with Dirk and Meg circling each other is tough to read. The sex is off the charts hot, but trust is hard to repair. The whole second chance romance just doesn't come off well in the first 1/3rd of the book. Dirk is angry and hurt and Meg is concerned about how to fit Dirk into her life, but can't live without him. All that is mute when Dirk proves that he is more than worthy of Meg and is truly her hero.

Everyone assumes the kidnapping is an attempt to get to Meg's father, a multimillionaire. You know what the say about making assumptions. Finding the kidnapper, the person who hired him and the reason why Meg and Charlie were targeted occupies Dirk, until Meg disappears and then this books takes a fast ride on the downside of the roller-coaster. The second half of this book is just amazing and well worth suffering through the first half.

BOSS, Inc Series
Into the Fury (Book 1) REVIEW HERE
Into the Whirlwind (Book 2)

Into the Whirlwind is the second book in Kat Martin's BOSS, Inc series. If you haven't read Into the Fury (book 1), that is okay. It isn't NECESSARY to read the first book in order to love Into the Whirlwind. HOWEVER, I would totally recommend reading both books because they are just that good. Dirk and Meg were secondary characters in Into the Fury and I was SOOOO excited to learn that they would be getting their own story in the second book.

Five months ago, Meg O'Brien broke off her short relationship with bodyguard Dirk Reynolds. And even though he begged her to reconsider, she didn't want to tie him down with in "instant" family. She thought she would never see him again...

That is, until her three year old son was kidnapped from her home.

So she turned to the one man she KNEW would do anything to get her son back to her.

Dirk was heartbroken when Meg decided to end their brief affair. But the reasons behind Meg's return into his life are bigger than either of them. An innocent child is missing and he knows he and his friend/co-worker, Luke Brodie, can find Charlie.

Into the Whirlwind was everything I wanted in Dirk and Meg's story. It was fast-paced, thrilling, steamy, and romantic. At the end of book 1, Meg had some grovelling to do to get Dirk to risk his heart with her again. I appreciated that Ms. Martin made Meg work for a relationship with Dirk and earn back his trust (and not the other way around). Luke Brodie was a major (secondary) character throughout the book and he is up next.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Fast-paced, action packed, and filled with romance!

Will make an excellent beach read this summer. You do not have to read the earlier books in the series to follow the events of Into the Whirlwind.

ARC Review

There are moments of good romantic suspense here. When the story works, it really works. There is action, adventure, and a good amount of sexual attraction. Unfortunately, the story gets bogged down by repetitious dialogue. She hurt him, he hurt her and now both suffer through bouts of insecurity. I know I'm in trouble when I start to skim through the conversations. Perhaps part of the problem is that there is too much going on in the story. The narrative starts off like gangbusters with a kidnapped child, then there is the love story, and it ends in the jungles of South America where they take down a Neo-Nazi billionaire. Furthermore, it is a little incredulous to me that Dirk, a seasoned security professional, would allow, Megan, a lingerie model with no survival training, to accompany him into dangerous situations. I'm sorry to say, this has my eyes rolling.

In A Nutshell:
There are good bones here, but the execution leaves me a little underwhelmed.

Megan O'Brien's young son, Charlie, has been kidnapped. She was left a note demanding $10 million dollars and warned not to go to the police. Her son is absolutely everything to her. There is only one man she trusts completely ..... Dirk Brodie .... her former bodyguard and lover.

Even though Megan dumped him, Dirk has never totally forgotten her and he will do whatever it takes to bring her son home. Calling on his former black ops buddies they team up to go after international criminals.

When you read a Kat Martin book, you get tons of excitement, danger, suspense and steamy romance.

The book has a well written plot with great characters. It's fast-paced with escalating action and suspense.

Many thanks to the author / Kensington Books-Zebra / NetGalley who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

So yeah, I finished this book and it wasn't as bad as the first one .. it basically follows Dirk and Meg from the first book and what happened between them after the break up, and there is a lot of kidnapping to rekindle their relationship .. it was an alright book but not my cup of tea

What a great book. It had action, drama, chemistry and suspense all wrapped up in this book about Megan and Dirk.

Megan is a single Mom who just had her son kidnapped and turns to the one person she cut loose because she wasn’t sure he was ready for her instant family and because she didn’t think her parents would approve of him. But the chemistry between them is strong.

Dirk is a man of many talents and when Megan comes to him for help to find her son, he has tried to forget her for the past few months, with not much success. Now he has to find her son, but in doing so the feelings for Megan stayed strong.

I have enjoyed other Kat Martin books and was not disappointed with this one either. Looking forward to reading other books about the group from BOSS.

Meh, at best, with a couple of you've gotta be kidding/fling the book across the room frustrating fails. I expect—and usually get—much much more from a Kat Martin romantic suspense. This was a disappointment that I won't be keeping to read again.

My problems started with the characters. Megan is a shallow Rich Girl with so many TSTL moments that it was tough to like her, much less identify with her. Dirk is inexplicably named after a knife, has an oddly fashioned mustache, and is into extreme tattoos. The unfortunate choice for a name is a minor stumble, but add in the mustache and tattoos and his appeal factor drops to zero for me (ymmv).

There were some continuity and flow issues that should have been caught by editing. A forest-green henley that Dirk puts on after his shower turns into a dark blue thermal a few hours later, for one. Megan is described far too many times as being barely able to "summon the energy" to do a task. That got old after the second appearance. And another of my pet peeves: she poured over her laptop. Dang it, girl, watch out for the splash.

The basic plot could have worked nicely, with more editing to smooth the hiccups and stumbles. I can understand and admire characters who are essentially strong but sometimes make dumb mistakes. Characters who are TSTL are a different matter entirely. Using TSTL decisions as a plot device creates weak characters, and plot conflict based on character weakness gets old, fast. I am especially annoyed by weak female protagonists who are rescued by a Big Strong Man. The BSM's main character flaw, btw, seems to be that he falls hopelessly in lust love with an airhead with a big chest and perfect hair. Yeah. We're in the shallow end of the gene pool.

I hope this was an anomaly and that the rest of the series is better edited.

Woo hoo! Back to being the books I love to read.

Dirk and Megan had a hot and whirlwind romance that ended after her protection detail did with a we are too different speech. Now that Megan's son, Charlie, has been kidnapped she knows the best person for the job is Dirk and she will swallow her pride to ask him for help.

Dirk has tried for 5 long months to get Megan off his mind and out of his heart and when she pulls up to the house he is rebuilding and comes up to him he knows that it is bad. Real bad.

An organized kidnapping is working Dirk and Luke hard and when they retrieve Charlie and a man gets away Dirk knows it has been too easy and isn't done. But he cannot find the link. He's not giving up though.

Jonathan, Megan's ex, is trying to mend fences once the boy has been found and has visited the hospital and is reaching out to Megan to try and visit Charlie.

Unfortunately all of this is happening at a bad time for Dirk and his other client and by the time Dirk figures out the link it's too late. What he does find out though is that Megan wants him back and that her parents approve.

Will the men of BOSS be able to get there in time? You'll have to read but it is action packed and full of twists and turns and will keep you connected from the first word to the last.

Thanks for the ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was an awesome read! Mystery, suspense, sexual tension, add in a cute as heck kid and you have Dirk and Megan's story. We first met these two in book 1 of the BOSS, Inc series and now they are being reunited under very strained circumstances. Megan knows she hurt Dirk when she broke up with him but she thought what she was doing was for the best. Now she desperately needs his help. Her son has been kidnapped and she knows that if anyone can find him and get him back it's Dirk, hopefully he'll put aside his feelings for her and help.

This is a wonderfully done story and a book I highly recommend.

When former high fashion model, Megan O'Brien discovers her beloved son has been kidnapped, she is obviously frantic as the note left behind instructs her that involving the police will cause the end of her son's life. The only person she can trust is former bodyguard/lover, Dirk Reynolds, but Dirk took their breakup badly, so even being in the same room with Megan is tough to handle. Putting all ill feelings aside, Dirk and the team at Boss, Inc do what they must to sift through the intrigue to save Megan's three year old from being a pawn in this multi-layered game of greed.

Although telling Dirk it was over all those months ago tore at her heart, Megan thought she was doing the right thing by her son and her family. The rough around the edges Dirk couldn't have fit in well with those in her life... or could they? The beautiful single mother has ambitions of opening a boutique geared towards high-end sportswear for women, but even her dreams of this store mean little to her when it comes to her son and his safety.

Dirk's heart was broken when Megan suddenly called it quits. They had a great thing going that made him want more out of life than his career and and his friends. Megan was his everything until she broke it off, and that break hit deep. Seeing Megan again brings back all those emotions he had when they were together, but saving her son is paramount to any of those feelings and once the job is done and Megan is reunited with her child, he'll return to his life and Megan to hers, or that's what the plan is.

INTO THE WHIRLWIND by Kat Martin is suspense, intrigue and romance all rolled up into this perfect story. If Megan can trust Dirk to bring back her son, safe and sound, why can't she trust him with her heart as well? This is the crux of the well crafted tale that spans from the Upper Northwest of the United States to South America. Sometimes appearances aren't everything, and Dirk's rough and tumble exterior is only a front for this dedicated man who loves deeply. In INTO THE WHIRLWIND, Megan is under the assumption at first that Dirk is not a good fit in her life, but actions speak louder and her assumptions could be her downfall if she doesn't open up and let Dirk in.

I loved this book. Kat Martin keeps the reader on the edge with INTO THE WHIRLWIND. All of the awesome characters involved in this tale, as well as the beginning book in the BOSS INC series, INTO THE FURY are perfection and essential to the outcome in this story. The chemistry between Dirk and Megan sizzles from the get-go and helps to make INTO THE WHIRLWIND a must read, not only for the relationship between the hero and heroine, but for the tension and excitement of getting down to the grit that encompasses this story. INTO THE WHIRLWIND by Kat Martin is intoxicating.

ARC REVIEW

BOSS Inc. book two by Kat Martin which is part of her Brodie's Universe. Into the Whirlwind follows Dirk and Megan who started their romance in the last book. Fortunately, while it helps to have read the last book it is not imperative to follow the story. I really enjoy Kat Martin books, the action is always a grabber the romance is heartfelt and combining the two is always well thought out; especially when you are dealing with high tension situations. When I read the synopsis for the book I thought how in the world are two people going to fall in love (again) when a child has been kidnapped! As a Mom I know romance would be the last thing on my mind if one of my kids went missing. But Kat Martin made it work. I was looking forward to the tattooed bad boy's story and this did not disappoint; even if Megan did a little bit.

Megan's son the whole reason she dumped Dirk five months prior has been kidnapped. She can't go to the cops but she knows the Dirk can help bring her boy home. Dirk calls in reinforcements and gets to work immediately; it's easy for him to find out who was behind it and find a possible location they might be holding the boy, but things aren't that easy and with the price on the little boys head in the millions it isn't going to be that easy getting him back, or tracking down the brains behind the kidnapping or the ulterior motive behind the kidnapping.

Overall, From Seattle to Argentina it is an action filled story. While Megan thought she was thinking of her son when she initially dumped Dirk her motives were kind of selfish as were the actions that followed. She obviously didn't learn her lesson about pleasing other people and sacrificing you own happiness with her first marriage. Luke Brodie plays a major role in this story and it gives you a taste of him before his own book out next year.

Desperation isn't a good colour on anyone, least of all, a former model.

Megan O'Brien's only hope - or so she makes it out to be - when her precious son is kidnapped is Dirk Reynolds, the man she'd heartlessly cut loose because he hadn't conformed to her ideals of family and the approval of her parents. What follows is rather predictable - Dirk isn't able to resist her pleas at all despite wanting to keep his distance - and the trail that opens up after her son is rescued is a far more interesting one that I can say of Meg and Dirk's complicated relationship.

It bothered me a lot that, in this second-chance story, that Meg's affections seemed conditional: save her son, get approval from her parents finally meant being good enough after proving oneself, which Dirk essentially did in an uphill climb to call himself trustworthy in her eyes. It only took a kidnapping it seemed, before Meg saw him for his qualities and decided that things should change between them. Ultimately, it was difficult to support this pairing when Meg seemed to reinforce that shallowness (except for when it comes to her son), even showing several TSTL moments throughout the book. The requisite HEA naturally demands that Meg accepts Dirk for himself before this pairing rides into their sunset, yet it was difficult by then, to change my impression of her and of the suitability of the couple.

That said, I'd definitely want to know the stories of the rest of Boss, Inc. - and Luke's setup and his extensive involvement in this book - is a perfect hook for the next in the series.

INTO THE WHIRLWIND is a fast-paced romantic suspense that leads you on an adventure filled with plenty of twists and turns. This is the second in Ms Martin's BOSS, Inc series and though I hadn't read the first installment, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this story.
Dirk is a sexy rough around the edges hero who can't say no when Meg asks him to help her deal with the kidnapping of her young son. She and Dirk had a fling a few months back, but she hadn't seen a future with Dirk and she rejected the possibility their affair could mean something more so she broke things off.
Dirk says he will help, but he keeps his distance emotionally from Meg, the one woman he ever truly let get close to his heart. And his friend Luke makes sure Meg know that he has Dirk's back after their break-up. Meg did what she felt was right for her son Charlie, but she did care about Dirk and the chemistry is still there. And she is right in her choice of Dirk as the man to help get him back.
This was a taut story that I couldn't put down. It was good to watch two people change and learn to communicate even under dire circumstances to get their HEA. This story has it all: adventure, romance, betrayal, and the bonds of friendship all packaged in an exciting story. I am going to pick up the first story-Into The Fury, to see how BOSS started and I see me picking up the mysterious Luke's book in the future!

A sexy, suspenseful read by one of my favorite authors! This is Dirk and Megan's story, which began in the first book in the Boss, Inc. series, Into the Fury. Dirk was Meg's former bodyguard when she modeled. They had a brief and heated affair, but Meg abruptly broke off their brief romance because Dirk's free-wheeling and dangerous life style wasn't exactly compatible with the life of a single mom to a three year old boy, Charlie.

But when her son Charlie disappears and the kidnappers demand $10 million and no police involvement, Meg can't think of anyone but Dirk to turn to for help. And when she approaches him, Dirk wouldn't think of refusing to help get her little boy back, even though being around Meg is painful for him.

The story is filled with intriguing twists and turns as Dirk and his friend Luke Brodie, along with Meg and her wealthy father, try to figure out the reason that Charlie was targeted. Is it some sort of vendetta against Meg's father or something even more sinister?

And in the middle of all this intrigue, Dirk and Meg find they can't be around each other without sparks igniting and bursting into flames. But what are the chances that they could have a real relationship? Even though it's book number two in the series, it works just fine as a stand alone read.

Torture, kidnappings, suspense and drama abound in the second BOS Inc. novel. This time Meg and Dirk are given a second chance at a happily ever after when Meg requests Dirk’s assistance in finding Charlie, her kidnapped 3 year old son.

This is definitely a page turner with plenty going on during the story but I have to say I was pretty sure who suggested the kidnapping fairly early on in the story. I also felt at times that too much was added in just to lengthen the story and add more drama that probably was not needed to clinch the deal between Dirk and Meg.

Meg seemed a bit too weak willed and unsure of herself for me to see her with Dirk until she started to tap into her earlier wild child and even then I had trouble believing that Luke and Dirk would have acceded to some of her requests to at times go along with them since she was not trained to do so.

If you like action-packed, suspense-filled, dramatic stories with a bit of steam and a whole lot going on this just might be a book you will enjoy. I did read book one in this series and enjoyed it but have to say that I enjoyed Kat’s book, Against the Tide, the best of all books I have read by her so far.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books or the copy given to me to read in exchange for my honest review.

I really wanted to like this story - kidnapped kid, two mismatched people thrown together with the common goal of rescuing said kid. Unfortunately the plot is handled unevenly enough - and the dialogue executed in a cringe-worthy enough way - that most of the potential here is wasted. Meg and Dirk (really? Dirk?) have a history - he loved her, she rejected him - so he is the last person she would go to for help. Unfortunately, he is apparently the only person she feels she can trust who would be capable of rescuing her child, so straight to Dirk she runs. The fact that Dirk takes on this job is a head-scratcher, as well as his willingness to bring her - a MODEL - along. I find Meg particularly annoying; she comes off as pretty emotionally helpless - actually, pretty helpless all the way around. In summary, there's potential here, but most of it is squandered. Two stars.

This is the second instalment in the BOSS Inc. series “Into the Whirlwind” and can be read as a stand-alone. It’s the first book I read by Kat Martin and the story didn’t disappoint.

When her little boy gets kidnapped ex-model Megan O’Brien sees no other alternative than to turn to the only man she really trusts, her former bodyguard and lover, Dirk Brodie. And though she hurt him deeply six months ago when she dumped him and ripped out his heart he will do anything to save her son.

I really liked Dirk's character, but it took me a while to warm up to Meg. The reason she broke up with Dirk seemed very superficial and made her appear snobbish in my eyes. Over the course of the story she tries to make it up to him and somewhat redeems herself.

This second chance romance was filled with fast-paced action scenes and sizzling chemistry and featured a great cast of interesting secondary characters.

I LOVED it!! Into The Whirlwind is a magnificent read. It has plenty of action, drama, humor and sizzle that kept me glued to my kindle from cover to cover. Kat Martin has given Into The Whirlwind fantastic, lovable characters that made this book into a wonderful reading experience. Meg and Dirk's story kept me on the edge of my seat. Ms Martin's writing skill shines through in this book and I look forward to reading more from this talented author in the future. Into The Whirlwind is book 2 of the BOSS, Inc. Series but can be easily read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a standalone. I only wish I could give it 6 stars!

Amazing Book!! I was so looking forward to Into the Whirlwind not only did I love the first book of the series but I love Kat Martin and have never read anything I did not like from her.

Dirk and Meg were in the first book from Boss Inc and the passion and relationship is never easy with a single mom but they overcome it. And Charlie (Meg's son) is a brave adorable boy. This is a must read.

Megan, a model friend of Val’s from the prior book, has ended her previous relationship with Dirk mostly because she has and child and he didn’t seem like he was the settling down type. But then her son is kidnapped and she asks Dirk to bring her son back. I’m enjoying this series. I read the ebook. 4/5

I usually like Kat Martin books but maybe she does better in historical settings than contemporary. I just did not like this one, not sure I would enjoy rest of tries either.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but it was much more of a suspense book than a romantic suspense. There was honestly very little time that Meg/Dirk took to get to know one another outside of whatever they already knew in their short-lived previous romance. The book seemed to focus on the kidnapping of Meg's son and the rescue mission(s). That being said, I still thought it was great and reminded me a lot of Maya Banks books in the KGI series (former military guys travel to foreign countries to rescue the heroine).

We were introduced to Meg & Dirk in the first book. Meg is a former model for a lingerie company and Dirk was her bodyguard during the tour. He works for BOSS, Inc. and has been called in to help Meg when her son is kidnapped for ransom. Meg was very shallow and dumped Dirk before she could meet his son (in the last book). She thought that he wasn't 'father material' and that her parents wouldn't approve of him. So what? Geez, he was a great guy and you didn't even give him a chance. That's probably the one thing I hated the most about the book - for most of the book, Meg still seemed incredibly shallow and judgmental. She only wanted Dirk when it was to her benefit. Of course, she comes around in the end, but not until after her parents dote on him and she realizes that he'll do anything to protect her and her kid.

There's a lot of action going on in this book and it definitely kept me from putting the book down several times. Yes, some was predictable, but there were a lot of players in this one that we didn't know a lot about until after things went bad.

Overall, a great second book in the series (and better than the last).

Luke was an interesting character and I'm glad we got more of him in this one. I can't wait to read his book next when he meets his match.

Loved every minute of Into the Whirlwind by Kat Martin. Could not put it down. She has wonderful characters and an amazing story. Into the Whirlwind is the story of Megan O'Brien and Dirk Reynolds who were introduced in Into the Fury. Near the end of Into the Fury, Meg abruptly breaks is off with Dirk. Meg is a single mother and does not think that Dirk would be a great role model or be a great fit in her life. She does not think that her parents, especially her Dad would approve of Dirk and his wild and fast lifestyle, not to mention the dragon tattoo on his shoulder and neck. When Meg finds out that her son, Charlie, has been kidnapped with a ransom price of $10 million but she cannot contact the police, she runs immediately to Dirk for help. Dirk is not sure that he wants to help Meg out, she really hurt him and it has taken him a long time to recover from the break up. Dirk suggests that she use someone else at Brodie Operations Security Service, Inc (BOSS) to help her. She wants Dirk's help. Dirk and Luke Brodie are able to rescue Charlie, but still do not know who was behind the kidnapping, because the man in charge escaped during the rescue. Meg is kidnapped next, can Dirk, Luke, and everyone at BOSS find her in time to rescue her. The story was action packed. It was filled with many poignant and bittersweet moments, it was a wonderful love story.
