This book series was thrilling with a sense of reality and day to day teen drama. However, these teens were not of the average stereotypes. Some could speak around 9 languages, attended a “spy” school and had covert operations as a daily lesson. The loss of loved ones, the changing of identities and the unknown of what seems like everything to them makes this book a must read. Moreover, if I could make improvements it would be to add a little more reality so the reader could picture themselves there and what they were doing. I would recommend for 12+.
This is probably my favorite book series of all time. The main characters go to a spy school for girls! There is romance, thrilling adventures, and mystery! This is a great read for teenage girls!
Honest review of a teenager (beware of spoilets) : I absolutely loved reading this series! They were so addicting to read and full of so many plot twists! I have read other reviews of this series/ the first book in the series, and noticed that some people are saying that they were aimed at a younger age than they expected. Although this is classed as a YA book series, I would say that they might appeal more to younger YA readers, as it is "lighter" (that's the only word I could think of, I know it doesn't really explain much/make sense, sorry), than some people, especially adults, might have expected. Having said that, this book series is amazing, and I'm sure that anyone, even adults, would enjoy it, but you would have to bare in mind that it is written from the perspective of a 16 year old, not an adult!
The Plot : I love books where the overall plot goes over the entire series, and this is definitely what happens in this series. It makes it so much more exciting and addicting to read. It was so cool to see how little pieces of the plot came together to from each book and be able to look back and see how everything fits! It was full of plot twists, most of which I definitely did not see coming! The ending of the series was very bitter sweet, but it did wrap up the entire series very well (Liz's speech made me cry!)
The Characters : Cammie is such a great character. I found her so relatable, which made the books way more interesting. It was is very cool that all the books are from her perspective, which meant that we didn't know anymore than she did. (It give it so much more suspense!) Bex, Liz and Macey are such fun characters. I love how they each have their own unique talents and backstories that each help Cammie in a different way! Zach is definitely one of my favourite characters in the series! He is so mysterious throughout the entire series; we know so little about him and his past! (All is revealed though - and trust me, huge plot twists!!) The adults are great and so funny. The mystery behind Cammie's dad, was so interesting and the conflict between Abby and Townsend was hilarious!
Overall I rated this book series 5 star! I found it so addicting and a pleasure to read. It made laugh, it made me cry. It left me shocked at some plot twists, and I found it so hard to stop reading! I'd recommend this series to anyone aged 13+ !

First, can I start by saying how much I love this series? Honestly, totally surpassed my expectations because I had started reading another one of Ally Carter’s series, Heist Society, and I was unable to finish it.
The Gallagher Girls series consists of six books (plus a few short stories) and the series focuses on Cammie Morgan, who goes to a girls school for spies, Gallagher Academy. Now, we get to the good parts.
The first book, I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You, didn’t exactly mark the beginning of the real plot, because it was more of an introductory book. It showed Cammie’s abilities and her friendship with Bex and Liz. It does add two new important characters, Joe Solomon and Macey McHenry.
The plot basically is about Cammie meeting a completely normal boy, Josh, during a class assignment and how she and her friends do a complete study of whether or not Josh likes her back and how she sneaks out to go and see him.
The second book, Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy, adds much more characters and brings Zach into the scene, along with Dr. Steve. Now, if you read the book, Dr. Steve might not be so important, but he plays a huge role in the fifth book.
The plot of the second book is boys from Blackthorne Academy (which the Gallagher girls have never heard of) doing a transfer program with Gallagher Academy, and setting off all kinds of alarms.
In the third book, Don’t Judge a Girl By Her Cover, things start getting juicy, and you start flipping through the pages trying to figure out what’s happening next. Needless to say, that is one of my favourite part of any book, not just ones with mystery.
The book starts off with Cammie, Macey and Preston (he’ll also be important in later books), son of the president, get attacked at Boston and barely make it alive. They think that because Macey is a descendant of Gillian Gallagher (founder of Gallagher Academy), the attackers are after her, but they could be wrong.
In the fourth book, Only the Good Spy Young, Cammie’s teacher Joe Solomon is now found to be a part of a secret society out to capture Cammie and possibly killed Cammie’s father. The book’s main plot is finding out the truth about Mr. Solomon and proving that he’s innocent.
We have reached the fifth book. Oh gosh, here everything just gets 10 times worse, or is it better? Because the more thrill, the more interesting the book gets, but the more thrill, the more hurt Cammie gets! Wow, this is confusing.
The fifth book, Out of Sight, Out of Time, shows a amnesiac Cammie who doesn’t remember anything that happened the summer after she ran away from Gallagher Academy. The main story is Cammie and her team trying to follow her footsteps and find out where she went and what happened to her.
The sixth book! Now, I was very excited to read this, as I had read the sypnosis beforehand and absolutely loved it! And, as you’ve probably already guessed, it didn’t fail to meet my expectations.
Main focus of the sixth and last book, United We Spy, is chasing after the descendants of the members of the Inner Circle of the Circle of Cavan (read the fifth book. You’ll understand better) and trying not to get killed. God, comparing the first book to the last book, Cammie gets hurt so much more.
In this book and the fifth book, Cammie’s team has added a new member, Zach, who is pretty much Cammie’s boyfriend by the sixth book. Zach had gone to Blackthorne Academy and since his mother was a part of the Circle of Cavan, he and Preston (who’s father was a part of the Circle) were in grave danger.
If you are very sensitive and don’t like books with people dying in it, I wouldn’t recommend United We Spy or the whole series to you, because I can’t even count the number of people who die. Most of them are bad guys definitely, but still.
We have come to the end of this review! I would give the whole 5 stars and I absolutely recommend this to people who like girl spies, mystery, thrill and a whole lot of fighting and bloodshed (it is also alright if you can just tolerate the bloodshed like I did)
i'm in a rereading kind of mood and these perfectly satiated it. it's crazy how i forgot how much these books mean to me. are they the most insane, beautifully written, masterpieces out there? no... but i love them. and they love me back. so take that haters rahhhh also the 2006 vibes are so impeccable would recommend to anyone ever (but maybe not a male because i don't really interact with them as a whole)
I stumbled upon The Gallagher Girls series accidentally in the library and fell in love instantly! The writing style is immersive, and the plot stays interesting. I normally get bored with a book series, but I have reread this series multiple times.
It is a YA-rated book, but that is what I personally look for since I don't like heavy sexual content. It's also a spy series, so if that's what you like, I guarantee you'll like it!
I was a pre teen when I read the first one and didn’t remember getting my hands on the rest(definitely wasn’t expecting the directions the rest would take!). On a whim I decided to look em up and didn’t know I’d end up devouring them all in 3 days (they’re not all that long though)! Honestly, I think they should all be one book anyway! I really enjoyed them!
I loved going back into this fun series about a teenage girl who attends a school for spies and the dramas that unfold. A super easy read (it's literally teen fiction) but I love the characters and it was just the escapism I needed!
I read these in high school and still.love them today I have yet to read the last in the series. I like to read the full set again before the newer book. Haven't had the time yet
This series was pretty good. I liked that it was from a girl spy’s viewpoint and it was a good romance. Some of the plot dragged on but overall I enjoyed reading them.
6 book series for a throwback I loved in HS, thanking TikTok for reminding me of this one and wanted to see if it was as good as I remembered 😂 good for what it was
All of the Gallagher Girls Series Books are amazing!! Without a doubt, this is my second favorite book series. I love this book series so much, and would recommend it to anyone who likes reading about adventure, triumph and the value and cost of friendship. This book series has it all!!
There is something immensely satisfying about reading, or in my case rereading, an entire series from start to finish. It makes me wish I had the willpower to wait for the trilogy to be published before I start book one. Alas, that won't ever happen :) I'll just have to revist my favorites.
