Nicco Santori and Rider Davies have been friends and partners on the LA police force for ten years. They’re closer than most married couples, and there’s nothing they don’t share.
When Nicco sees Rider kissing a man, he realizes his partner has a secret Nicco doesn’t know about. Nicco’s more than shocked, he’s jealous, and he realizes he must confront Rider about what he saw. Perhaps more difficult than that, he must confront himself about the feelings for his partner he’s kept buried for so long.
Can things work out between the partners? If so, Nicco may have something with Rider he’s never before dreamed possible. But if no, Nicco stands to lose it all.
Partners is a book about two law enforcement officers finding out they are attracted to one another. Friends to lovers and law enforcement in one book? Sign me up 'cuz it is one of my favorite kinds of M/M romances to read!
While this was an easy, enjoyable read, the fact that it is only 30 pages long doesn't leave a lot of time for back-story and character development. There was no sexual tension until about 85% and then BOOM, the book ended, HFN. We don't get a glimpse of the future for these two police officer partners of 10 years. The book ends after the sex.
So, while I did enjoy it, it was really a palate cleanser type of book you would read after a longer, angsty read. If that's what you are looking for, I can recommended it.

Best friends and partners as officers, Nicco and Rider get along more than best. They are together at work and private all the time. Both with playful and humorous attitudes with each other and everyone around. Until Nicco sees Rider kissing a guy, that changed everything. First pissed because Rider never told him he likes guys too, second because he’s jealous.
Nicco has other goals than Rider concerning their future. It’s getting harder for Rider to compromise and accommodate.
I found Nicco a bit of an ass. As uncertain he was with their relationship, he also played with Rider's feelings. Later on, he got better. I loved Rider, willing to sacrifice everything. A fast-paced, captivating, entertainingly written story.
Loved it! This was right up my alley, police detectives with that firm partnership that is so close they get teased about being a romantic couple. Dark, good looking, intense Nicco, who romances all the honeys, and Rider, educated, sexy, and totally in to Nicco for a long time now. Rider knows that he is bi, but hasn’t been with a man since college. He has never mentioned this to Nicco, who sees Rider dating women. Rider even consented to a MFM three way to get closer to Nicco in a bed, but nothing came of it. Until Nicco gets a male house guest who subtly hits on Rider, Nicco notices and is jealous, surprised that he has intense feelings like these about Rider. Nicco sees the guest and Rider kissing and goes up in flames of shock that Rider kissed back the way he would with a woman. Nicco confronts Rider for keeping his bisexuality a secret for so long and Rider confesses that he didn’t want his desire for Nicco to ruin their beautiful friendship. Nicco kisses Rider and it’s a no holds barred passion for the rest of the book, EXCEPT, Nicco is afraid to come out at work or with his family, everywhere but behind closed doors. Plus, he and Rider don’t get much time together because of a big case and there is a Thanksgiving trip to Nicco’s traditional Italian family and strict, retired cop dad. The young, hottie houseguest shows up at the Thanksgiving table and Nicco goes ballistic inside. These were some great scenes! The course of their true love still has some humps and bumps, but the author keeps their love going, even when it’s breaking down. I liked these two fire hotties! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their love affair. There is a wonderful ending. For me, this is the best kind of MM romance. The cover is very hot, too. The author promises a story is available at their website about Rider and Nicco, but it’s not there. I liked this book enough that I am going to email the author.

I guess this was an early effort from the author. Some of the choices for narrative and dialogue didn’t suit me. It was written well enough to read through to the end.
This was Only 80 pages but the story made it feel longer. Not necessarily in a bad way though. It was a great story, and the transition from friends to lovers was so... Easy? Obviously it's the aftermath of it where the complications began. Cute story though. I did enjoy it.
Nicco and Rider are partners in the LA police force..
Now I did think some of this very short story was steamy but honestly it just felt way to rushed to me and by the time they actually do get together it was almost the end of this story and bam that was it. So I really do not know how I feel about these two men together and the whole reason they finally admit to their feelings for each other I have to be honest and say I was really not a fan of.
So I am sad to say this Novella was just not for me... I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
This was a great story. I loved the plot, the characters, the dialogue, everything. Being a very short story, the shortest I've ever read, so you can read it in one sitting, it was complete. I was pleasantly surprised about that.
The plot was interesting because involved two policemen - one who is bisexual and the other doesn't know he's bisexual. When he sees his partner kissing someone that unlocks a door in him. Actually, his closet. The author perfectly describes his thoughts and thinking process after this awakening. Afterward, he approaches his partner about his enlightenment. This conversation was very well done. A great ending to a story. Warning: this story does not have the characters moving it to the bedroom, but really, the story didn't need it. It was perfect the way it was written.
The only criticism I have is I wish there was more background on the characters and more background on their partnership in the police force. How they met, how they're beginning years were, etc.
I do recommend this story because it was great from beginning to end for such a short story. If you like policemen who fall in love and where one of them steps out of the closet, then this book is for you.

This was a quick read, but it was well worth it. I both agree and disagree with the other reviewers; I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s ‘too short,’ because it is a complete story from start to finish.
What I’d say instead is that I find myself wanting to know more about the characters, their history together, and just what’s going to happen to them. I don’t mind finding out more about them in bits and pieces, especially if there will be follow up books, but I do hope for that opportunity!
Partners was well-written, with good characterization and dialogue. I’m definitely interested to see what happens after the night at the end of the book, because there are so many ways this can go.

What story there was in the thirty some pages was good. But it starts off with nothing about the characters, no back story and jumps right in to Nicco taking in a friend of his brother. I think it could have been a little longer to make it a great story. Nick and Alex decide to get together which I thought was great and then it was the end of the book. Just a little disappointing I wanted more. But if your looking for a quick light read this one would be good.
Best friends and police partner Nicco and Rider lived in each other's pockets. There wasn't anything that they didn't know about each other until one night and one kiss changes everything. Oh, the kiss had nothing to do with the two of them, but it opened Nicco's eyes to what was right under his name nose. Every thing changes in an instant and now both men demand answers to feelings that were kept hidden forever.
One click Partners and Lovers and experience the journey of two men who meant everything to each other.
Rider and Nicco were already awesome together after years of being best friends and partners on the job, but they because amazing once they added sex into the mix. I loved their complicity and the way their connection turned into a romantic one. Not an easy transition, but entertaining to read through. Jealousy, insecurities and fears were mixed up with banter, affection and moments of steamy chemistry.
I'm only sorry the book was so short, I couldn't get enough of these two men together.
Partners & Lovers is an easy to read short story about bestfriends & work partners Nicco and Rider. Nicco is shocked when he sees Rider, his straight best friend, locking lips with a guy. Suddenly, he begins to have all these feelings, he shouldn't.. Partners & Lovers is a bi-awakending, bestfriends to lovers novella. There is low angst, as Nicco comes to terms with his sexuality and the effects it will have on his relationship with his family. If you looking for an enjoyable, short read, you can't go wrong with this book.
Long time friends to lovers. Not always a smooth transition but the MC’s manage to make it work. This is great book and love story. You are pulled into their lives. Highly recommend.
Partners to lovers when Nicco find his friend kissing an guy he becomes jealous never knew he had feelings for him never knew his friend was bi. And this is how the story begins. Very low angst
They have been police partners for at least ten years. They spend all their time together as best friends and partners.
When a friend comes to stay with Nicco, he sees something he shouldn’t have which sparks jealousy and opens his eyes to what has been in front of him all along. Well who. Rider.
They try to navigate being in the closet at work while still being partnersand staying in the closet around Nicco’s family. Can they navigate the two obstacles to find a way to make it work? You know the love that they have for each other is there but they have some obstacles to overcome.
The guys were sweet. I wanted to bang Nicco on the head a few times but he ended up getting it together. I look forward to reading their continued story.

This was a very short story. There weren't a lot of pages to get a true handle on the full story, but we were able to get a nice glimpse at the type of relationship Nicco and Rider have as work partners and best friends. Both men think the other is straight, but when Nicco sees Rider kiss another man, jealousy rears its ugly head and they have to come to terms with what they want from each other. The story ends just as it starts to get good and delve into relationship territory. We get a good HFN.
Partners by Rebecca James 4 Stars Main Characters: Nicco and Rider Trope: Friends to Lovers, Out For You Plot: Work partners Rider and Nicco turn into something more when Nicco learns Rider is bisexual. Pros: well written, complex characters, fast pace, fully developed relationship Cons: length—I wanted more
This was a short read before the book Lovers. I would almost consider it a serial type book. Two partners in law enforcement go from friends to lovers. There's not much more to it but it's pretty hot and I liked it. I'm going to read Lovers now and I'm looking forward to how Rider and Nicco's relationship progresses from being best friends/work partners to partners in real life. Yay!
A wonderful short story, the main characters Nicco, and Rider were great. This is the first I have read by this author, I like the way she writes. I'm ready to go to book 2 of the series. I gave this book a 4 because I enjoyed it.
