This isn't a 'rated' book but I would put it on the level 2 reader...for a merging into level 2 a child would have trouble but with help could do it, and a more advanced level 2 would enjoy reading. Many pages have repetitive wording so would help build self esteem being able to read it on their own.
Franklin finds an old flute in an old trunk, he decides to trade it with a friend for some other toy, but he soon finds out that it belonged to his grandpa and needs it back. So he goes in search of it only to find that that friend traded it to another friend, and another etc. He feels like he'll never get it back until the end when he finds out his Dad saves the day with a trade of his own.
I chose this book because F is for Flute! (I play the flute and wanted to introduce it to my little ones - letter of the week seemed like a perfect time.)Besides...my children love Franklin.
I LIKE this book because it teaches children about being honest and respecting the property of others. There are not enough lessons about that in our society!!
