Help Nancy and her friends find a prop that’s gone missing from a superhero movie set in the fifth book in an interactive Nancy Drew chapter book mystery series. Grab a piece of paper and get ready to jot down your own ideas and solutions to the case!

School is out for summer and the timing is great because a movie is filming in River Heights, and Nancy, Bess, and George—along with a bunch of their classmates—get to be extras in a scene shot at the playground!

The movie features Glam Girl, a fashion-forward superhero who gets her powers through her clothes. When the girls arrive on set, they catch a glimpse of the super shoes that give Glam Girl the ability to run, jump, and kick with super-speed. An assistant explains to them that there is only one pair in existence and that they were custom-made for the actress Shasta’s feet.

Everyone goes wild as Glam Girl runs into the playground, blue shoes glimmering. But when Shasta’s on a between-scenes break, the shoes go missing! The director says that if the shoes aren’t found, they’ll be leaving River Heights and their scene won’t make it into the movie! Good thing Nancy happens to have her most important prop right in her pocket—her clue book.

Who took the blue super shoes? Was it Paloma Garva, who needs a pair of blue shoes for her Junior Fashion Show? Was it Rosie the stunt-woman, who seems to envy Shasta’s spotlight? Or was it the Popcorn Peeps, their classmates’ film club, who need movie relics for their new museum?

Carolyn Keene

Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.

Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.

Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.

Slightly better than the previous book, but still a bit of a disappointment. I am not sure if I will continue with this series.

The first books were great, but this one and the previous one were so-so/ok-ish. It is just that it follows the same pattern in each of them. Something goes missing/something goes wrong > girls have 1 or 2 suspects > find clues > ask people > scribble off suspects > find a new suspect > it gets removed > another suspect > done. Add to that the constant: We can't go further than x blocks from our home and only if y happens. We get it. You are kids, you can't go that far. Now stop saying it over and over again.

And in this one I was mostly frustrated with George. She kept being bleh about everything. OMG, I don't want to do this > whines, complains, is a bitch. Really girl, if you don't want to do it, either go away or just shut up. Don't keep on spoiling it for your friends. That is just rude and mean.

In this one a movie star's boots go missing, and our Clue Crew goes after it. They want the movie to stay in their little town so they go all out to find them. So we go through a whole list of suspects (well, OK, one suspect at a time), until we get to the right one. It was fun that everyone was a suspect, everyone had motives, everyone could have swiped those shoes.

The ending was pretty good, though yeah, it was no wonder it was that person, they were the only one left that could possibly be the real criminal.

All in all, interesting idea, but it was a bit boring after 2 suspects.

The illustrations were fun though, I love how Nancy and her crew looks in this series.

Nancy Drew Clue Book: Movie Madness. Get ready to dive into a Hollywood-style mystery with Nancy, her best friends George and Bess, and a pair of super cool boots!

So, Nancy, George, and Bess are like super lucky because they get to be extras in a movie! Can you believe it? They're right there on the movie set, and everything seems awesome. But then, something totally wild happens – Glam Girl's super boots go missing! And guess what? It's up to Nancy Drew to solve this boot mystery.

Now, these boots are like super special. They're the star's favorite, and they just disappear out of nowhere. So Nancy's like, "Hold on a sec, I've got to put my detective hat on." She starts looking for clues and asking questions. She's like a real detective superhero!

But wait, here's where it gets even crazier. There's a girl named Paloma, and she's acting all sneaky with the boots. She tries to put them on, but that's before they went missing. So, did Paloma take the boots? Or is there something even bigger going on? You've got to read to find out!

I had such a blast reading this book. It's like going on a movie adventure with Nancy and her friends. I mean, imagine being in a movie and solving a mystery at the same time – that's like a dream come true!

And guess what? I learned something really important from this book. You always, always, always have to pay attention to the details. Nancy is like a super detail detective. Without clues and details, she'd never be able to crack the case and find those missing boots.

So, if you love mysteries, movies, and awesome adventures, you should totally check out "Nancy Drew Clue Book: Movie Madness." It's full of surprises, twists, and lessons about being a great detective. Who knew boots could lead to such a fun mystery?

Happy sleuthing, my detective pals!

The girls are extras on a film shot when the star's blue boots go missing. Is the culprit a classmate who thought the blue boots would be the perfect addition to her outfit? The stunt double who is being treated shabbily by the star? Or the president of the Riverdale Popcorn Peeps movie club? Or a young classmate who thinks that the boots can help her with super speed in the Riverdale Runt Run? The Clue Crew investigates all options which forces them to participate in the camp daredevil obstacle course, coming face to face with the Blue Blob Bot from Invaders from Planet Gumball, and participating in a fashion show at the Girly Gear Store.

My only criticism of this book is that I felt like the ending was a bit more obvious than some of the other Nancy Drew Clue Books.

When the first two pages have words this distracting it's hard to keep turning pages:

asked excitedly
Nancy insisted
George pointed out
Bess agreed
George admitted
Bess gasped
Nancy explained

This is only from the first page and a half, and rember a chapter book is large print. I think this is a perfect example of why writers are told to keep it to "said" most of the time since other words tend to distract the reader..

I'm giving this book 3 stars, but I have to admit that was only because I couldn't finish it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
