Desperate times call for desperate measures

That's why the dying town of Homestead, Texas, established the Home Free program, offering land grants in exchange for the much-needed professional services modern homesteaders bring with them.

Kristin Cantrell had leaped at the chance to return to her childhood home, accepting subsidized land for herself and her son in exchange for the service she could offer as a physician's assistant. She didn't expect her reputation to be tarnished by a crime her deceased father had supposedly committed. She also didn't expect to see Ryan Gallagher again, even though his father, the senator, practically owned the Hill Country.

Now she has to prove not only her father's innocence but also her own.

Roxanne is a USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author of forty romantic suspense, mystery, and heart-warming, emotionally charged relationship novels in the clean & wholesome, as well as inspirational romance genres.

She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!

She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.

She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!

Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.

Kristin Cantrell meets Ryan Gallagher again when they both move back to their hometown of Homestead, Texas. A mystery of her father's last days and money missing from his job as well as a bit of romance helped this one along. I like the concept of homesteading, but naming the town that was a bit overkill.

This book took place in Texas hill country where Kristin had grown up. She returned as a divorced Mom with her son. She is now a PA and runs into her college sweetheart Ryan. Kristin wants to prove her deceased Dad's innocence. The town thought her Dad had stolen money from Ryan's Dad who is a wealthy rancher and state senator.
