A brutal winter hits Sheffield, but things heat up when Esther has a fling with a faculty member! Daisy probably has a Friday Night Lights reference for this occasion...

So glad to have stumbled across this series! It took me a whole issue to realise this was set in the U.K., and about 7 issues before I discovered the 3 main characters go to the university I went to..! (I'm sick, that's my excuse anyway)

An easy read, fun believable characters and the drawing style has grown on me. Definitely going to keep reading the rest of the series!

Cawpile: 7.50 4*

Ok, so I have no idea how I managed to get to volume 8 without realising this series is actually set in the city about half an hour away from me. *facepalms*
Maybe that’s why there’s just something about this series I can’t put my finger on that I just enjoy reading even though it’s just kind of nothing really happening. I guess it’s also really nostalgia back to my uni days and the dumb/random shit that happened to me, I kind of feel like I’m living vicariously through them maybe? And also have flashbacks to similar scenarios i or my uni mates found ourselves in.
Overall the series is just a fluffy nostalgic palate cleanser. But it’s fun nonetheless.

A cross between observational comedy and the occult

Ok, maybe not the occult, although Esther would doubtless approve of it. But definitely the observational comedy. Marginally more realistic than The Young Ones, this series spoofs and sends up just about every aspect of actual British university life. Although actual snow is now quite a rare sight.

Esther is the most developed character, having existed in prior comics, but the rest are catching up and are no longer quite so "filler" in nature.

If only these characters were real.

It was ok....... Se llama ed el chaval ese, muyyy bieeeen humilla a el tóxico pedofilo ese. Este libro habla de la relación del profesor y de esther y de la adicción de dasy con una serie, y susan con el trineo porque odia la nieve.

I falling hard for this series. Saw the glimpse in the first issue, but by eighth I am hook, line and sinker - caught.

I've never seen a single episode of FNL but Daisy's delirium has me settled that maybe I ought to. I seriously loved Esther's party transformation scene. Heres to hoping we never have to see that milquetoast 'boyfriend' of hers again. What a crawler. So glad she squished him! This has been one of my favourite issues of the series so far!
