Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá return with a story as American as semiautomatic weapons. The Umbrella Academy has saved the world, but the house they were raised in is destroyed. One member is bedridden, the side of her head held together with tape; and another has lost her voice, the source of her power. Now that they've fulfilled their destiny, does the Umbrella Academy have any future at all? The Umbrella Academy returns for a second six-issue series -- Dallas, where we put the term -- hero -- to the test. * The acclaimed series from Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá returns! 2008 Eisner Award winner -- Best Limited Series!

I watched the TV show after reading the first volume of the Umbrella Academy since I was quite sure that's the only part that would be featured. However the show mixes volume one and two in a fascinating series which might be more interesting after reading all the issues. So go ahead and pick this up before clicking onto Netflix.
Fantastic start to the second umbrella academy series, although it does seem that saving the world has gone to a few people’s heads and something needs to come along to kick them back into high gear a bit, lol. Though Five seems to have that handled, intentional or not. Speaking of five, what’s up with the Kennedy assassination reference in the first series? Let’s start by asking the man himself 17 years ago…wait, that’s not the topic of discussion today. Seems Kennedy needs the monocle’s help with a problem they are having. And in exchange for some backroom talks, the umbrella academy is more than happy to help with a rampaging statue of Abraham Lincoln. LOL, staring out this series once again…by attacking a national monument. This time they don’t punch it down or blow it up with the dynamite pogo dragged over…but once rumor got close enough she was able to mention a rumor she heard about Lincoln being assassinated. Which hilariously manifested a second statue of Booth to come and kill the rampaging Lincoln. Hahahaha.
As we cut back to our favorite family in the present day, it seems the rebuild process has been slow and the house is still in ruin. Luckily the extensive bomb shelter, with a hatch right next to the house, is in perfect walking distance to get milk from the milk man every morning. Thanks Abhijat! But it does seem that someone, SPACEBOY IN PARTICULAR, should lay off the milk and cookies…it’s not good for a growing ape body like his, lol. Of course gluttony is not the only sin running rampant in the family, pride has snuck its way into Klaus heart as he heartlessly refuses to pickup more cookies for spaceboy once they ran out. He is much too famous for that for saving the world, why not ask rumor to do it? Rumor of course still cannot speak, and uses a notepad instead, especially when she is communicating with a barely there Vanya who barely recognizes her own sister. As Vanya still doesn’t remember anything, Allison is more than happy to wheel her out of the room and into a room full of TV’s to remind her all the destruction she has caused. Wow, that is brutal. So much for rehabilitation and slowly showing her the error of her ways and bringing her out of the brainwashing and back into the family with open arms. Let’s just shove her in the deep end and hope for the best.
Checking in with the rest of our family, Diego is currently running down a drug dealer…who happened to be in the diner that night when pogo and five were attacked by the mysterious laser wielding men. He is trying to get to the bottom of this and make sure for certain it was five and pogo, but this guy really isn’t any help. Speaking of pogo, it seems that five was kind enough to create a statue outside of the ruins of their house in his honor. As Vanya stares at it, their mom happens to roll up and talk to her. Being the first to offer a word of sympathy towards Vanya, and opening her arms to Allison to unpack and help the rebuilding process and be productive…like five.
Hahahaha, five is currently at the dog racing tracks, and he isn’t being very productive. It’s also just the perfect day for him to walk out to his car…and find more mystery men, he calls temps aeternalis, waiting for him. Except this time it isn’t just three guys. When I look at the page I count at least 84. Can’t exactly tell if there’s someone behind the speech bubbles, lol. But heres the thing that is immediately noticeable: even with their numbers, they are afraid of him. And rightfully so, as five goes full order of the jungle on them. Lifting one of them in the air and then using the chaos to eject a machine gun from the back of his car and just going full force on them. Before he killed the first one, it seems like they are trying to get him back to finish something he doesn’t want to. But these guys aren’t going to have a final day in it, he slaughters them like they are nothing. But these guys ultimately got the final word, with one of them getting on the communicator and calling for “Hazel and Cha-Cha.” Five tried to stop him, and seeing five freaked out freaks me out, but he was ultimately too late…and now five believes they are all already dead with those two being dispatched.

What stands out about "Dallas" is its unique blend of superhero, sci-fi and family drama elements. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá continue to demonstrate their ability to create complex and charismatic characters, as well as to weave a narrative that skillfully balances humor, action and emotional moments.
